I am extremely disappointed with the service I received here. I have brought my car in over ten times for the same brake /rotors issue, and each time I was told something different. Chris originally told me that my rotors and bearings were bad, so I agreed to have them replaced. I paid over $700 for the repairs, yet the same noise continued right after I left. Every time I returned, Chris told me there was nothing wrong, even though the noise got louder each day. I repeatedly asked for the issue to be checked, but instead of fixing the problem, I was given excuses such as "we're too busy today" or "your car would have to stay overnight." On September 1st, 2025, I went back once again and asked for my brakes and rotors to be replaced because the problem was clearly still there. Chris quoted me another $250 and claimed my front brakes were at 35% and the rear at 55%. My question is--why should I have to pay more for the same problem I have been reporting from the very beginning? When I asked Chris to contact the owner, Chris came back and said the owner would give me a $50 discount. That is not acceptable. I should not have to pay again for work that was never done properly the first time. This shop has been misleading, unhelpful, and unwilling to take responsibility for their mistakes. I had my axle changed out and five months later all the bolts in its attachment to the differential backed out and destroyed the axle and forced me to buy a new one. I asked Chris if he would look at it and he said they had nothing to do with it. I had brought my own part in and they don't warrant the labor or the part (no part warranty, I understand). Just some background I was an Air Force aircraft accident investigator and have an aerospace engineering degree and he tells me they did everything correctly. Took car in for electrical issue and came away with more problems (2 buttons & trunk release no longer worked, trunk lining peeled back & left that way, brake lights stuck on, grease on seat). Went back & had 1 button repaired, but had to return next day for trunk release & lining, brake lights & other button repair. Drove away to discover emergency brake was stuck on. Took car to another shop. Never going back to J & J. (Second button was never fixed). They only accept cash, Zelle, or credit card w/3% surcharge. AVOID THIS PLACE. Office lady was pushing her politics on me from the start until I had to tell her to stop. Then I had to listen to her chat about her biases on the phone with her friend while in the office. She seemed so unorganized causing a more timely delay. It took her 25 minutes for her to type my paperwork. She tried to tell me I was getting a discount for this or that which didn't make sense or weren't even a real thing. Mechanics were very nice and took time to explain to me what they did on my car, but only after I insisted on speaking with all them to get the exact story. I got 3 different stories the first time around. Even after the original mechanic told her to charge me $10 for the battery core, she tried to charge me $17. Ridiculous. Careful with this place, they like to quote you one price and hold your car for awhile even for a smaller repair. I was quoted $120 for a steering wheel installment and than they're gonna tell me it's 600 because the airbag module. I said it's not that difficult to take out I already did it for you and I'll do it again plus that's not issue they said it was "difficult" plus because of the reset. Zero stars. I brought my car in because it had an oil leak. They claim my oil filter housing was faulty, so they replaced it. Cost me over $600. When I got my car back, it was still leaking oil. So I brought it back in, they reinspected and this time they said the oil plug was no good. A replacement oil plug cost a few dollars, and they charged me $600 for something that was never the problem in the first place. I tried to get a partial refund but they refused. I contacted AV Auto Electric to inform them that the diagnosis that they had run, and I had paid for , was incomplete. This resulted in a failure to order the correct parts. Because of this, I am in a rental car for the 3rd day. When I asked AV Auto electric about the diagnosis, I got double talk, etc. Sammy at AV Auto electric is not to be trusted. $225.00 was the price I paid for the lesson. Spoke to Sammy again today. I took my car in to replace the door lock actuators, I provided the brand new door lock actuators myself and they charged me $180 for the labor for both sides, they did not completely check that everything worked the way that it was supposed to at the end. The driver side door now does not unlock from the outside. I was told that it never worked to begin with and would have to pay $120 extra to have it fixed. It was never broken in the first place. When I asked what was wrong with it, I was told that it was the key that didn't work I brought them a spare key then I was told that it was a bracket within that didn't. At this point it does not matter because I will not be going back and I do not recommend this place to anyone. If you find it you will love it. It is tucked behind some other buildings just south of R on Sierra highway. There a several small mechanic shops but you will easily see AV Auto Electric. You may be afraid but don't run go inside ask for Sammy he will quote you a time and price that will make you skeptical but trust me there are no games here. I have older cars so I have been here 4 or 5 times his prices are always 1/2 the other guys. He does most of the work himself and it is almost always done the same day. There have been times he called me to let me know the car was done at 9 at night. I don't know where he hides them but he always has the part I need both used and new on hand. He gives me a price for both with the pros and cons then does the work. Often if the part you choose is used he just charges labor and his labor rate is lower than anyone around. I have sent several people here and they all have good things to say. So if you have the guts leave the fancy overpriced auto mechanic, go see a guy that just gets it done at AV Auto Electric. read more

I was due free oil change thru my Auto Repair Insurance, so I applied it while I was having repairs done to my vehicle! They did the repairs no problem but not the Oil Change which they charged my Auto Repair Insurance for including the repairs! A nice tidy sum! When I brought it back after Thanksgiving to get the Oil Change owed no charge! Found I had a stripped bolt to oil pan and female part where you screw bolt inside the oil pan causing oil to leak! I wasn't leaking oil Prior to the repairs! Why wasn't the Oil Changed to begin with! Could they have stripped my oil pan bolt casing...and let me drive off saying all work was done including my oil change! Then charge me to fix what they messed up! That's why my oil wasn't changed! My old, indestructible, truck started to struggle for power as I was passing through Palmdale today, then the battery light came on, and it died. I looked up the closest electrical mechanic thinking they would be most helpful for diagnostic, and I found the right place! Thank you Sammy! I baaarely made it to his shop, but what a relief! This is an honest family-run shop with bright staff and a real future if everyone gets treated as well as I was. They tried to send me away for no charge! I prefer to pay for good service (and I hope I wasn't too bothersome!) As others have said, Sammy and his wife are both accommodating, knowledgeable and straight-forward about car issues - even weird stuff like mine! He and his mechanic stopped their work and quickly ruled out several electrical issues before figuring out my fuel pump was on the fritz. He sent me up the road to the parts store, and graciously allowed me to swap the pump myself before getting on my way. I have a 2007 Dodge Charger, the check engine light would not go off and I took it to a few shops they said the code comes back to the O2 censor even though I got it replaced. ****AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!***** these guys... and the lady in there are ridiculous. No one can keep their word on anything there. Window regulator went out on my truck that THIS LOCATION installed a year and a half ago. They claim to only have one year warranty on their parts however, the company they got the parts from has lifetime which I called and confirmed. It gets better.... eventually I give in and say fine, I'll buy the part from the company myself so in the event of this happening again, there'd be no confusion. I was told by the manager and the no value added lady that if I brought the part in, they wouldn't charge any labor. I went to go get the part. On my way back I called this...... "business" if you want to call it that, and asked if they'd still have time today or did we need to reschedule. The OWNER the freakin guy who avoided me and left his employees hangin dealing with my situation decided he's now a badass and speaks to me on the phone. He then tells me he'll be charging me $90 for labor. Avoid this place. They used to be good when they were on sierra but now they went to complete hell. AVOID AVOID AVOID! You'll be sorry if you end up coming here. You'll get ripped off for one, then 6 different stories between everyone there. I wish Palmdale would have seen this coming and not given them their permits to open up in that location. Maybe they would have stayed honest and original like when they were on Sierra. This has been edited after I received this reply from a Linda L. at AV Auto Electric. It is consistent with the sloppy work I described earlier plus other work that I didn't ask for. $250 was an excessive charge for adding a LED light strip to a switch on the dash even if done correctly. Rip off times 2. "Linda L. Well you should of called Sammy talk to him about the problem he has fixed your other cars and you never had a problem so thank you we don't need customers like you so please stay away from here find your self another doctor" They don't have to worry as I'm never taking my business there ever again. A $250 mistake but I've learned. And, I will spread the word about this place. Their attitude is as bad as their work. I can't wait to show what they did to another auto electric company and I'll be back with their opinion. I had taken my car to AV Auto Electric in the past with good results. I took my new RV to Manny to add an LED light to the instrument cluster to make the dials easier to read in the bright sunshine. BIG MISTAKE. This was an absolutely sloppy job if I ever saw one. He attached the LED light strip with what looked like bubble gum with wires hanging loose and visible. I couldn't have done a worse job myself. He went on to replace a switch for my radio with another one with still more goop all over the outside of the switch. He didn't ask and he didn't give me my old parts. I don't know why he did something I didn't ask for. Well, I ripped out his lousy work and am taking it elsewhere to be done right. Not only that, but he didn't take a credit card or a check and wanted cash ($250 for sloppy work). I only found out about that AFTER he did the work and was on my way to pick up my RV. I learned my lesson though. Never again at AV Auto Electric. It's too big a gamble. After I wrote this review, I read the one by Sutherland Diesel Performance S. on June 7, 2018 that sounded almost like what I wrote. This place is a royal ripoff and I'm telling others, especially other auto electric businesses to see if they've heard similar stories. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. SCAMMERS.I took my 1989 ford Thunderbird SC in for these guys to fix. It wasn't getting any spark. The head guy told me the engine was done and it would cost $3000 to fix. I told him I couldn't afford that, then he said he can fix it by replacing my crankshaft and that would cost$2000. I told him I was maybe prepared to put at the most$1500 into the car and he said he would do it for that price. 2 days later they called and said my car was ready. I went, paid them and picked up my car. A month later car had the same issue,by this time, I have had another mechanic look at the car and he assured me that they( AV AUTO ELECTRIC) didn't put in a new crankshaft because the engine needed to be pulled for that to be done and the engine has not been pulled from my car anytime recently. What he found was that the bolt that holds the harmonic balancer to the crankshaft was broken and that was the issue. I asked how much would he charged to fix it and he said$250 but I have to get the new harmonic balancer and new bolt. I said ok but I already paid these clowns AV AUTO ELECTRIC TO FIX IT. He said yes I should take it back to them since they charged me 1500 for something that at the most would be $500 with parts . So I towed my car back to these idiots and they tried to say the never fixed the crankshaft and didn't charge me for it. That's why that little detail called a receipt is vital ( always get it) I pulled out they receipt and asked them what it said? Receipt says they replaced the crankshaft and harmonic balancer for$1500. To add insult to injury the owner didn't even write my last name on the receipt. He wrote Henry Truck because he thought he got over on me and is smart. We will see. I am suing them for the whole entire car. We will see who is the truck after am done with them. First let me say that owning an RV has taught me that you should be handy and able to do some maintenance on your own unless you have $$$$ to burn. Service can be costly at most places that specialize in RV's and since I've had some experience working in a service station, with some great mechanics when I was a kid, some things I do for myself. However, when it comes to bizarre electrical problems I would rather leave it to the experts. About 8 months ago I had an electrical short that could have potentially fried the entire electrical harness and I was referred to AV Auto Electric and I asked if they would work on an RV. The answer was yes, and they helped me wade through the red tape involved in getting my extended warranty company to approve the repairs. They came in under the estimated costs and that impressed me as well as the warranty company. Fast forward to yesterday, I called Sammy on Monday to say my camera system went kaput mid-trip and I wanted to bring it in today, Tuesday. I called ahead because the rig takes up alot of real estate. I also wanted him to check the batteries (Yes Batteries, 5 in total ) on the RV and the brakes on my toad. He found a broken connector leading to the camera system and replaced it. He gave me a clean bill of health on all the batteries and said the brake pads still had 70% of life left. Thumbs up all around. I asked him how much I owed him and he said "nothing" I was stunned. He went to all that trouble to check everything out and fixed the camera problem and didn't charge me a dime. His son even turned the rig around for me in their lot so I could re-attach the toad. Update to review that I left on 2/27/19. Upon posting the review and submitting copies of the invoices that solidified the original complaint, I did get a call back from Sammy (Owner) apologizing for charging us for a second time on the same issue. He was very apologetic and advised that he was more than willing to reimburse the second charge, as he was under the impression that the initial repair was done as a courtesy. I appreciate his willingness to eventually accept responsibility and the attempt to make things right as any good business owner would do. I found it was justified to leave a follow up message in an attempt to off set the previous 1-star review based upon his actions. I just wish he would have responded sooner so as to avoid the initial review. read more
