Took my car in for a diagnostic check because my transmission was giving me problems. I was charged $120.00 for the diagnostic as they kept the vehicle a whole day. Then I was told it would have to be totally replaced at a cost of $8000.00!!! Man GTFOH! That's a straight ripoff. I took my vehicle home and started to reach out to other shops. This was my second visit to the Advanced Level Automotive. I was impressed with their work on my wife's Mustang and so they were the first garage I called about my Jeep. With my 2017 Jeep JKU approaching 100k miles, I had a laundry list of regular and corrective maintenance jobs. At 100k, FCA says both the PCV valve and spark plugs should be replaced. The latter requiring removal of the upper intake manifold (on a Pentastar 3.6 V6 engine) to access the driver's side plugs--not a simple job as it requires lots of little parts and hose/wires to be removed just to access the intake, plus new seals and cleanup. The 3.6 has known issues with the Oil Cooler Assembly leaking and mine was no exception. That assembly is located right under the lower intake which made it the perfect job to do at the same time as the plugs. I also wanted a full coolant and brake flush as neither had been done since I bought the Jeep new. Anticipating the special parts needed, I called about a week before to inquire about these jobs. Johnathan, who is the owner Jose's son, took my call and worked up a quote within the hour. He provided detailed breakdowns of parts and labor so there would be no surprises. They're an excellent team and in the few times I called back to talk job specifics, Johnathan was professional and prompt. (For any big job, it's always helps to call ahead if possible so the mechanics can order the parts. If I had just rolled in there, they wouldn't have had the special parts in stock and it would have required me to come back.) We planned on me showing up right when they opened so they could get started on all of these jobs. Johnathan was confident they could get everything done in one day, and they did! Having a background in automotive repair myself, I asked if they could save the old parts for me which they did. I picked my Jeep up at the end of the business day and left a happy customer. The Jeep drives great, and an under-hood inspection of the work after I got home showed a great level of care and professionalism. Johnathan and Jose run an honest family business that does excellent work. In the future, I won't hesitate to take our vehicles to Advanced Level Automotive for any work, small or large! read more

These guys are highly professional and courteous. When it comes to finding the root cause of your car problems, these guys do not mess around. They also have great communication skills, send you photos and explain the problem in plain english and work very fast. As a DIY and car guy I highly recommend Advanced Level Automotive. My experience: My Audi was starting to smell like gasoline, which concerned me because my 1 year old son rides with me in the car all the time. So after several days and a few hundred dollars trying to fix it myself I sent it to Advanced Level Automotive in January 2022. Within a few hours, they called me directly and told me what the issue was, they sent me photos as proof of their work and they texted me a few estimates and options of how to repair it. My mom's 2004 CRV was at the Honda dealership in Palmdale. Her 86 year old husband with dementia had it towed there the week before. He since died and I had to determine what to do with the car. Honda wanted $750 for a new starter and possible alternator for $1400. I found Advanced Level Automotive (ALA) on Yelp with 5 stars (amazing for a car mechanic!) and had AAA tow the car to ALA. Turns out the car starts. Battery was just a little run down and it needed power steering fluid. The Honda dealership apparently had not even tried to start it. Even though my mom's husband had just died that week, they were threatening to charge storage fees. So happy to have found Jonathan at Advanced Level. Excellent service and quality all the way around. My VW Golf diesel needed the flywheel replaced. I took it to 2 dealerships for estimates, since I had all the scheduled maintenance done at the dealer since new. After the dealers keeping the car for a day (each) so they could do complete diagnostics to "make sure" that's what it was they each gave me estimates that were exorbitant and included lots of other things I didn't need. I asked Advanced Level Automotive to look at it. This is how it went: They ran diagnostics on it and found, besides the flywheel, things I actually needed: two broken engine mounts and a new alternator. They did all the work for much less than the dealer and used new factory parts. The dealer had had to replace the battery twice, both times under the battery warranty, so no cost to me. Jose's diagnostic report showed the alternator wasn't keeping the battery properly charged. The dealer never found that out and kept replacing the battery without questioning what was wrong. Also, a delay when shifting from park to drive (or reverse) disappeared after the broken motor mounts were replaced. It drives like a new car! All the years I took for service to the dealer they never reported something they should have known about. There's much more to write, but the bottom line is I won't take any of my vehicles anywhere else than Advanced Level Automotive. They are the BEST. They are changing my oil and rotating my tires now while I wait and they did it in about the time it took me to write this!!!! I left out, maybe the most important thing-THEY CARE, it shows in everything they do. PRICELESS. read more

I have a 2006 BMW 650i that wasn't blowing cold air...in the desert! I took it to the shop and called my extended warranty company. The warranty company is semi-trash with service and the final decision of how much they would cover took nearly 2 weeks. The owner and his wife stayed in contact with me every step of the way and didn't charge me a storage fee. I had some food that went bad in the car (because it was there so long) & he volunteered and threw it out, rather than leave it rotting in my car. In fact, service was so great, he apologized that the car had gotten dirty...as if I could reasonably complain about that in the desert. Finding an honest mechanic is so hard. We just never know who's really gonna be honest and reliable. We took our Dodge Nitro here cause of the reviews and he was local. Jose was always honest from the beginning. We had been procrastinating for such a long time to get our car fixed / checked. We knew it needed major work. Turns out it needed to have - Remove and install 2 cylinder heads, replace spark plugs, water pump, thermostat, Upper and lower radiator hoses and oil change. He even fixed our AC at no extra charge. After some spirited driving in my Subie I wasn't able to find my upper gears (1st, 3rd, 5th) and reverse. I usually take my car to my Subie mechanic in Gardena but it'd be a little sketchy to drive from the AV with limited gearing. I found Advanced Level Automotive on Yelp with really good reviews and decided to give them a try. They have fair pricing but they go above and beyond to restore your vehicle and your confidence. You can definitely find cheaper mechanics but none will be as honest as Josè. They were upfront about costs and there were no surprises. They fixed my problem and weeks later my gearing started to feel sticky again. I brought it back in and he looked at it and fixed it (again) at no cost! What's more...he even fixed a mod that I did incorrectly at no cost!! I ABSOLUTELY recommend this place and if I can't fix something myself, I'll bring any and all my cars here! read more

It was working fine before I dropped it off. Awesome place and Jose is very honest. You don't get that dishonest vibe that you get from most places. Took my E91 here to fix a couple EVAP leak codes and get a smog test complete. Jose found a lot of issues caused by previous mechanics. During the whole process Jose kept me informed (even texts photos) and only performed work I authorized. So this place does high quality work. They aren't the cheapest but so far they are the best. My car is running very well now after getting a new water pump, radiator and brakes. I added some new tires from America's Tires and when I just took my car in for an oil change at an oil change place they said everything looked great on the car. I never went to a mechanic in the Palmdale area before because I'm always in Los Angeles working. My cargo van broke down the night before Thanksgiving. I found the shop on Yelp and a couple people told me it was a good place to take my van. Jose the owner and his wife are super honest shop owners. I got my van to him day after Thanksgiving. there was snowing ice everywhere so nothing could really be done on that day. Today which is Saturday after Thanksgiving Jose started on my van first thing in the morning at 8 a.m.. found out what was wrong with it. Show me what was wrong with it. And then he fixed it for me and got me back on the road today. As for price he didn't try to take me to the cleaners. The price was very very very fair. The work he did is most excellent. Ty Jose I now have a mechanic here in the Antelope Valley. When I need something fixed on my cars up here.
