Brought my car here because check engine light was on and they said they diagnose for free. That was the first lie. Told me I needed to replace many parts and would be less expensive to replace engine. Would be $5,000, second lie. They called back to say it went up to $8,500. I was not sure what I was going to do. They call again, now $10,000!!! Are you kidding me??? All within 1/2 hour! They would give me a used engine but will only use brand new parts from Cadillac for repairs. Found another mechanic who will use certified parts at half the price! I go to pick up my car, Aamco charged me $650 for my DIAGNOSIS and said they don't take coupons or do free diagnosis. 0 stars if I could!! Very very unprofessional at the Aamco at 295 Windsor Highway New Windsor, NY 11553! I struggled to get over $3000 to get my transmission and other stuff fixed at Aamco, big mistake. I had my transmission "rebuilt" and it didn't even last me a year. I had it rebuilt this past September, it lasted me til a few days ago and as you can see, the transmission light is once again on and it's doing the same thing that I originally had come in for. All the money I spent to only have a 6 month warranty? That's ridiculous! My other guy who I normally regularly take me to even said that a 6 month warranty on a worn out rebuilt transmission for what I paid is absurd and he spoke poorly of you guys. Yes, I would've taken it to my regular mechanic but unfortunately at the time l, he was completely booked so Aamco was my last resort. I'm a single mother of two on maternity leave. It was hard enough coming up with all that cash the first time around so now this? I complained to corporate and some woman, Charlene called me back and lacked empathy. She never apologized for my experience and just reiterated to me about me having a 6 month warranty. I'm livid I had to pay thousands to have this transmission not even last me a full year!!!!! Please, whoever is reading reviews, DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO AAMCO! And especially being a female, you'll get ripped off, please don't do it! read more

My experience with "Mark". After having an AAMCO rebuilt transmission installed less than two weeks ago I was having some trouble today and stopped in to see if they'd check error codes and fluids to see what was going on. Probably take 10 minutes at most. When I arrived at 4:15pm "Mark" was sitting on the couch in the lobby on his smart phone. Once he finally looked up his tone of voice immediately expressed that it was going to be an unpleasant communication. He starts off with "You'll have to make an appointment and leave it for a few days." When questioned whether there was ANY diagnostic that could be done before I continue driving he responded "Did you hear me?! You'll have to make an appointment and we'll get to it in a few days." As the conversation broke down even further he progresses to calling me a "moron" and stating that the office was "closed" even though it wasn't scheduled to close for 45 minutes. People are not the sum of their worst behavior, but Mark chose to escalate the situation beyond any reasonable explanation when he followed me to the parking lot and continued to berate me for presuming to try to get help with my transmission issue at his shop. Just inexplicable. If you have a choice of shops to repair your vehicle I would recommend going elsewhere. Just not worth the risk of having to deal with this fellow. read more

7 months later after $4,900 Transverse Case and Rear Axle repair...it fell apart. Took the Firestone in Newburgh and they fixed it. Informed by Firestone that all parts were labeled as junk parts. $4,900! I knew they were a scam and racist at that! I got rid of the car. Was also told that my car was no longer utilizing 4 wheel drive...It was a Jeep! They basically had me and my families life endanger. They are white so entitled to do this to customers! read more

Having lived in this area my whole life, I remember this shop had a horrible reputation a few decades ago. The transmission blew in my car and a regular shop could not repair it, so I had it towed to Aamco to at least get an idea of what's wrong. Despite the shop being busy and the parking lot full of jobs, they called me the next day with a diagnosis, estimate, and time frame. Mark, the service tech, was knowledgeable and professional, so I gave the go-ahead for them to replace CVT transmission. While repairs were underway, my other vehicle had problems and needed to go into the dealership. Mark, the service manager, was great with keeping me updated and staying on top of my repair so I could get my car back quickly when I would've otherwise been without a vehicle. After getting it back, I was expecting to have a few minor problems since its a big job, but the car drove like it was brand new. The service tech did an outstanding job on the repair and ensuring everything was running properly before returning the vehicle. The service manager was professional, educated, and had great communication skills. I'm picky with garages but I left here quite happy. read more

We've been using Aamco since we had a really bad experience with Barton Birks Chevy. We also used to use Monro in Vails Gate, but found that they liked to charge a lot more than everyone else. The guys at Aamco are honest, friendly, and have always taken care of us. Their prices are fair, they work fast, and best of all, whatever they have worked on stays fixed. I would definitely recommend Aamco in New Windsor if you need help with your car. read more

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! I can't say it enough! Everyone is a pleasure to deal with. I had bought a used Subaru not even 5 months later my transmission went. The shop worked with my warranty company to make everything sooth and stress less for me. About a month or so later I blow my engine. No it's not my driving I swear! LOL I basically bought a lemon. Ray and Mark once again worked with my warranty company to get the job done. I couldn't be happier. We are moving to Texas and we're driving there. My husband (last minute, literally 3 days before leaving) said we should get his Q7 checked to make sure it'll make it there. ‍ I texted Ray the owner (Thank you, Ray for responding back) what my dilemma was, and that we're leaving Thursday evening. Mind you I texted him around 6 Tuesday evening. He called me back! He told me they'll see what they can do in such a short time. No other shop would do that! They'll tell you no sorry can't get to it. Not Ray he said drop it off and I'll have them look at it first thing in the morning. We'll call you and we can go from there. That is what you call EXCELLENT customer service!! I'm so happy I found this shop! I wish there were more honest shops around. They call you to let you know what's wrong how much it cost and the time frame you're looking at. No running around wondering what's going on. Great service. Mark went the extra mile (?) and got a new clutch installed (and resurfaced the flywheel) on my Ford Ranger in just over 24 hours so I could make it home for the holidays. I was prepared to rent a car and throw a bunch of money out the window, and he surprised me by getting the job done well ahead of schedule. Was looking for an affordable place around town to get my oil changed. Did not want to go to Walmart because lord knows that's the plague! For $20 bucks an oil change here it's not bad. So I visited them. They were all very pleasant. Becky was very nice the woman at the front desk and the manager Carlo was fantastic. He suggested us to get an air filter but was not pushy at all whatsoever. We drove off and had a little issue with our tire, they just forgot a minor detail but all worked out. After replacing the transmission on my 2020 handicap van twice within three years because of the engine codes I was getting from my van. Frustrated, I brought it to this AAMCO because I needed an expert opinion. Mark accepted the vehicle and soon reported that I needed another rebuilt transmission (the third in three years). This cost me four thousand dollars. The same day the van was returned to me, the same engine codes appeared and my check engine light came back on. I returned the van with the complaint that I had just spent $4000 for nothing. Mark insisted that the old transmission had been bad. They now decided to try to check to see what was happening. Awhile later, I received a call from Ray, the owner, who told me that the problem was traced to a faulty ignition switch which was causing false readings from the computer. They replaced the ignition switch for $450. Amazingly, a half hour after I got the van back after traveling about 12 miles, the check engine light came back on while registering the same original transmission codes. When I called the office, I was told by the receptionist that Mark was too busy to come to the phone. I was told that if there were a problem with any of the parts they had replaced which were under warranty, I could bring the van back. This was after I had spent $4450. Neither Mark or Ray had the decency to call me back. I am a 100%, service related, handicapped Vietnam Veteran. I would not recommend this AAMCO to anyone and especially my fellow Vets. read more

My car battery died and I needed a new one quick. I called and Ray, the manager, and he said that he could have one in stock within an hour and to bring the car in right away. I was impressed the minute that I walked in because the waiting room was spotless and very comfortable. They checked my battery and determined that it did need to be replaced. They explained everything that they checked, got my approval and 45 minutes later, I was on the road. I highly recommend them! read more

I brought my car in to have it looked over by their mechanics a second time, and they were kind enough to drive me to work in addition to ensuring all the repair work was completed.
