Okay, First of all, I don't often write reviews- this is my first Yelp. But I felt obligated to trumpet from the rafters the amazing experience I had at Aaron Gang Photography. By and large headshots are one of the chores we have to endure to do what we love to do- you're a performer, musician, artist or actor and it's one of the first and best ways to show potential clients/agents/talent bookers what you bring to the dance visually. I say 'chore' because it's rarely an experience that you enjoy doing. With Aaron, it was relaxed, easygoing and Fun! Let me tell you a little known secret- the Best photographers are the ones that are good at letting the real you, your true self come out in the session and then they capture that on film. But the trick is for you to feel at ease and comfortable in your own skin so that can happen; this is just one reason Aaron is so great at his job. It's because he's fun and funny and an all around great guy to be around that I felt comfortable and free to be myself. I felt my self loosening up and getting comfortable in the first 5 minutes of our session. Look, I'm a performer - we can be persnickety, particular and a bit quirky and we're not always so gregarious and comfortable when meeting new people. But Aaron is charming, friendly and engaging and is adept at making a connection with new acquaintances. This is a real gift, and thus my session was really great. And I love my shots! And they have gotten me work Not only does he have the latest and greatest technology AND know-how but he's got his finger on the pulse of the community (he was ahead of the curve when Chicago switched to color shots.) I have never "Yelped" before but felt compelled to do so after my amazing experience with Aaron Gang Photography. His work is dazzling. I was first introduced to it when admiring a friend's beautifully done headshot and took notice AGAIN when I glanced at an actor's stand-out headshot who I was auditioning with once and by no coincidence, he also told me his were done by Aaron. The fact that both of these headshots really stood out to me amongst hundreds of others I've seen was not lost on me, but I was convinced from the value of the work that I would be out an arm and a leg. False! After tentatively looking up package prices online, I was ecstatic that he had totally affordable prices...unbelievable. Next, I figured because of the fact that he does fabulous photos AND at humbly low prices, it would be forever until I could get an appointment. False, again! I signed up on his super user friendly online agenda for a free consultation and met with Aaron that same week. The fact that I got to meet him and see the studio space where we'd be shooting first and make a decision from there made me feel so comfortable. I scheduled an appointment within that same week to shoot and could not have felt more confident in my decision. The actual shoot was a breeze. Aaron was extremely knowledgeable about what he does but made me feel completely at ease by allowing me to make all of the decisions and have "creative control" over what I wanted them to look like. He was so easy to work with and I find that invaluable to an actor who knows the importance and stress of trying to make your headshot be the best possible picture of you while still looking like yourself, AND showcasing your personality all in one single picture. I have to take the time to gush about my photographer. I got ridiculously lucky that I found him. Aaron Gang and his make up artist, Cindy, made, what can be an uncomfortable and nerve racking experience, completely wonderful and fun. Cindy, who was only being paid to stay for one look, insisted to stay for the majority of the shoot to help retouch and to change up my look from time to time, just because she wanted to. They both made me feel absolutely gorgeous. Aaron, who during our consultation took the time to make sure I was getting the most reasonable price, was so warm and funny and what I really appreciated is that he took the time to get to know me, before the shoot and during. THAT is exactly what I wanted, because, and hopefully it shows to you all as well, I wanted the majority of the photos to show my personality and then beyond. What I also really liked was that they asked me what I wanted out of the photos. How I wanted to be perceived. They didn't bombard me with advice on how I should want to look, but when I asked, they were more than happy to share what they thought. Aaron asked me questions about myself through out the shoot, which made me feel like I was hanging with a friend, and resulted in me feeling relaxed and free, goofy, reminiscent, vibrant, and confident. After the shoot, he left me alone to look through all of the photos AND emailed me every single photo right away, so that I could look at them on my own time and really figure out what I wanted. I am extremely happy with the results and it is the best and most reasonable amount of money I have ever spent. I will have 4 images, retouched and printed included in the package, and I can always go to him if I want more. I'm beyond happy and could not recommend him more. read more

I could not have been happier with my experience with Aaron. He was kind, professional, knowledgeable, and a genuine pleasure to work with. I live approximately 30 minutes away, and the proofs of my images were in my inbox by the time I got home from my shoot. Also, he hosts the images on his website in a gallery for a full year, so you can send them to friends and family for advice on which to choose. My only complaint is that choosing which shots I wanted re-touched was so difficult! I was so happy with so many of the pictures (150 in total), narrowing it down was nigh impossible. In fact, I elected to spend an extra $35 for a third re-touched image for this very reason. Completely worth it. After finalizing my choices and ordering them from Aaron, I had the re-touched images within 2 days, and one of those days was a Sunday. Finding the right photographer can be overwhelming. If you're here, that means you're likely doing some research. Good. Getting quality headshots is an important investment. I contacted Aaron when I needed to take professional photos for my first album and promotional posters. I was incredibly impressed with his professionalism in the process from beginning to end. He takes time to talk with you to get an idea of what you are looking for and he prepares for the session. He takes TONS of pictures so you have absolutely no shortage of looks to work with. On another note he also arranged to have a makeup artist present to do my makeup at the photo shoot. She was the best makeup artist I ever worked with and I actually hired her for my wedding! Aaron also helped with the photo selection process and then of course finalized the shots with effects. I couldn't be happier with my album cover, which is important as I have to distribute it everywhere and see the picture over and over again! This is the second time I've had Aaron take my headshots and I can't say enough good things about the whole process. Out of 300 pictures, I wanted 200 of them - it is so hard to pick only two. The atmosphere while taking pictures is very relaxed and comfortable. His make up artist(s) are professionals in the field and know how to bring out the right colors while sticking true to who you are. There are several backgrounds to choose from ( he will pick it but always asks for your opinion and if your okay with what he has chosen) and great music. The shoot day is all about you and there is never a rush to get changed or switch looks. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. My pictures were waiting for me in my in-box by the time I got home (i live 20 mins away). He makes ordering very easy too. This was the first time I'd ever had professional headshots done, so I checked out all my options in the Chicago area (online). I'm not an indecisive person, but when I'm shelling out money like this, I'd rather the job be done right the first time, so I won't have to pay even more to have someone else fix it (in this case, nice headshots). But I made a great pick when choosing Aaron Gang. Like everybody else already said, he's very nice and professional...blah blah blah. It's true. He was nice and patient with me, which is worth noting, because I can be shy sometimes. It was quick and painless. The photos look MUCH better than other, overpriced ones you might get from another photographer. They are super nice and I will probably keep going back when I need more done. I needed business headshots for social media, found a number of well-reviewed options and settled on Aaron Gang based on the reviews and the samples on his gallery page. I'm very pleased with the process and results. Aaron was very easy to talk to and work with, from choosing the best clothes for the two looks, to applying light makeup, to the shoot itself. We reviewed all of the shots in the studio and he gave me option to have a few more taken if I thought there were gaps. That wasn't necessary as we had quite a few good shots, and he emailed a link to the proofs that afternoon. It was hard to choose the best from many good photos, but once chosen he returned the finished touched-up headshots within a day looking even better than I had expected. I've been in the entertainment industry for a long time now but never had a REAL photo shoot done until this year! I couldn't have chosen a better photographer for my first official shoot! What can I say but that I love Aaron Gang and love his work!! I am a repeat customer. Aaron is extremely professional but also extremely casual such that you are relaxed and in a place where you can just play and shine in front of the camera. Aaron didn't just take my picture, he coached me through the shoot. E.g., if I did something funny with my face, he would help me correct it. I also liked that he would show me a few shots, and then we would make adjustments on the spot. Knowing that he wouldn't let me make bad choices allowed me to relax more. Take a lot of clothing options--I brought a few extra shirts that he ended up choosing over the ones that I thought I would use. The studio is awesome. There's a nice makeup room, and the studio itself is set up to take advantage of the outside natural light. Even so, he used some fill flash on a few of the shots, which really made them pop. I was referred to Aaron by a friend at my college. My friend said he was a cool guy and the outcome of the pictures were great. When I went in for my shoot, he was exceptional at making me feel relaxed and he really seemed to know what he was doing. I am 100% awkward in front of the camera, but Aaron sent me the link to my pictures - and I've pretty much spent the last two days looking at the girl in those pictures thinking, "Holy crap...She is amazing looking!". I don't know how he did it! My dad even asked, "What did the photographer say to get those amazing shots?" Answer: No idea. I'm defiantly new to the entertainment business but I must say Aaron Gang's head shots helped alot. Almost every college audition including very prestigious conservatories I went to I was told "great head shots" "who's are these?" and "wow". In my view he helped me stand above the competition.
