After the 2026 winter storm, we found that the system had been taxed significantly and Airstream has worked with us over the past few months to get it back into tip-top shape for the summer heat. The technician, Ryan S., diagnosed a failed condenser and advised that my R-22 unit was too old to repair with current Freon, recommending a complete replacement at an estimated cost of $10,000-$24,000. I requested a written report and photos so I could obtain a second opinion. The report stated that the condenser was not working and that I needed a new A/C, but no photos were provided. I ultimately had my regular A/C technician evaluate the unit. He replaced a faulty capacitor and added one pound of Freon for $180, and the A/C immediately returned to normal operation. One week later, I have had no issues. While Ryan was very courteous, the diagnosis and recommendation were significantly inaccurate. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I will not use Air Stream for future A/C service and will instead wait for my regular technician to become available.
