I searched for a new hair salon not too far from Idlewild. I also didn't want to spend a crazy amount either. The ladies at this salon were very welcoming and friendly when I walked in without an appointment. Ruby gave me an amazing new haircut which took off a lot of hair. Yeah. Convenient salon located in a shopping district near Walmart. I've been coming here for a year to get my eyebrow threaded. Quick and quite painless here. Always satisfied with the look and the owner always give me an eyebrow massage with oil when she finishes. It helps with the redness for sure. Never quick or cut corners to get it over. I hate getting my eyebrows threaded. You can pluck, wax, rip and whatever else to my face and it's fine, but I have never had a good experience getting threaded that didn't make me want to fight back! Had I known that was the only option, I probably wouldn't have gone. Didn't feel a darned thing, y'all. Thumbs up to Anjana. I got my brows tinted (if you are not getting tinted, I HIGHLY recommend you consider making your fine self even finer with brow tint) and threaded and I looked great for weeks. I didn't stop there, though. I was admittedly looking hella busted, so I got my hair done. I am African American with mixed heritage. My hair was a hot, new growth, texturized mess. Kati is Dominican and initially wanted to take the Dominican salon route, but I hate sitting under the dryer, so I convinced her to blow dry me instead. She did a great job and I was well pleased. Both services were relatively quick and the conversation was pleasant but not over bearing. I will be heading back soon for the same services and I am looking forward to it. Super friendly place! I walked in on a whim to see what services they offer. Pretty much everything! I tried out the eyebrow wax first. Great job with that. She also introduced me to threading for the first time. Very interesting and didn't hurt like I expected it to. While I was there I decided to get a deep hair conditioning treatment. That felt amazing. I'm definitely looking forward to trying out their facials next month. **Update** I decided to get a cut and color done yesterday. Amazing! I had the best style done. I recommend getting your eyebrows threaded at her salon as she pays close attention to the shape detail and trims where needed. The salon feels more like a "home salon" rather than a professional business. The owner/manager is often chatting with an Indian lady while cutting a client's hair or asking her associate to run to the Harris Teeter next door for some donuts. She charged me a different price each time for the same haircut. After the third haircut, I stopped going there. Last time, her daughter and husband were napping in the "spa" room. For threading or a quick wax, this is a good place. I wouldn't trust with haircuts or spa treatments. Also make sure you get the price before sitting in the chair! read more

I preferred threading vs waxing. In previous threading place, I am always about tears when I get out. Then I was next door in a cafe when noticed a threading place having a special - I say why don't we try it, we did. I was smiling when done with this eyebrow threading. Aungena (owner) has a gentle way of doing this without pain. I will be coming back and will be trying some facial services. My son is biracial and has 3C curly hair and this was his first haircut, I called and explained that to them and asked if I needed to detangle his hair before our appointment. The man said no, that the OWNER of the store would be cutting his hair and assured me that it was apart of their job. We arrived on time and had to wait for 39 mins while the owner was in my line of sight sitting in her phone!! Once the hair cutting started, it took 2 techs because "his hair was so unmanageable" when I warned them and told them I would detangle before I brought him in and they insisted they would do it. After 2 mins they gave up and told me it was going to be a botched haircut because I didn't detangle!! Then like any mother would, I asked for a lock of his hair to keep as a keepsake and they looked at me like I was crazy and had to grab a CURL OFF THE FLOOR because they wouldn't give it to me. Spoke in another language the entire time, didn't cut his hair well, and then the other technician who was working on him was trying to push me to get an eyebrow wax when j literally did my eyebrows that same day. I would've left with no eyebrows if I would've let her touch me. Absolutely horrible and will not return. read more

Don't let anyone but the owner do your eyebrows or you will end up with 2 completely looking different eyebrows. I'm beyond pissed and so disappointed because the owner recommended the other threader in her salon. She told me that she would do a great job and she completely jacked up my eyebrows.
