It only took 20 min to ask to move bc our waitress was nowhere to be found for that duration. Came here on a Monday night after an event and so happy it was opened. The security guard was nice, he helped me with going into the establishment; Cute place; the waitress was really sweet and attentive; music was good and it wasn't too loud, you can actually have a conversation and not have to yell; and they have hookah for all of you folks that love that! I had a confirmed reservation for a table of 5. I arrived right on time for my reservation with 3/5 people in my party. Only two tables were full and the rest had "reserved" signs. I showed them my reservation and they said "sorry no reservations tonight all of the tables are for our boss's friend". I wouldn't mind if my reservation was canceled on their end or if I was called and informed. We walked out. The remaining two people of our party arrived, walked, in and they were nicely greeted and immediately seated without asking for a reservation or name. Five stars for having the sweetest waitress ever and the most scrumptious mofongo I've ever had in my life. Now I'm not saying I'm ANY kind of mofongo expert here; I've only had the dish a handful of times and discovered that I'm quite partial to it, despite not being a fan of plantains. But the experience I had at THIS place... I had Abba on my Yelp list for awhile and realized it's in the neighborhood of my salsa studio. Our waitress was SO sweet and friendly, warning me of the strength of their alcoholic beverages (WARNING: they're tasty but POTENT), offering to bring extra dishes for sharing, giving great suggestions. My friends opted for burgers, but at this authentic Latin place, I was determined to have an authentic Latin dish. I ordered the mofongo with chicharron, and it came out VERY quickly (from what I've experienced in the past, it usually takes a lil minute to prepare). First of all, it was BEAUTIFULLY plated, aesthetically-pleasing-to-the-MAX, so I was salivating the moment she placed it in front of me. From the first BITE, I'm sure my face reflected some kind of nirvanic ascension. It was DELICIOUS, the pork belly wonderfully crispy yet juicy, and the unique SAUCE it's coated in blew my tastebuds away. Flavor freaking central. Gladly worth the $20 it cost. Only thing to watch out for here; it seems after 11pm the DJ turns the volume up FULL BLAST in here, so the vibe goes from...lit Friday night hotspot to JUMPIN CLUB SCENE REALY QUICK. Stop by ABBA Bar and Grill on a Friday night. For starters, this is a dive bar. Nothing fancy but that's not a bad thing. For drinks, we order the Lychee Margarita (3/5) and the Mangonada (5/5). For food we ordered the Mac and Cheese with chicken (5/5). The Mac and Cheese was creamy rich and cooked perfectly. The Lemon Pepper wings (4/5) were flavorful and crispy. The steak sandwich (5/5) consisted of tender steak bites and yuca fries which were so good wish more places offer it. This place does offer hookah for $30 but if I'm being completely honest, the hookah was terrible. Our server was very attentive despite there being a language barrier. Parking can be a little difficult but not impossible. Total with tax gratuity (automatic) was $131. Cheaper if you pay with cash. read more

The bartender wears too many hats (waitress, hookah, etc) which slows the service for the bar patrons. We had two beef pastellios and they were good. I feel like I've been to this spot enough times where I know the deal at this point. Don't come here expecting quick service - food takes forever no matter what you order or how busy it is. I've only ever ordered the nachos and they were really good. Drinks are fine but a little overpriced in my opinion, but their hookah is one of the cheaper spots on the block. They charge $20 for refills. This is a VERY traditional Dominican spot. Music is super loud so don't expect a romantic or quiet ambiance. Every time I've been here, they've ONLY played Bachata, salsa, dembow etc so don't come here expecting rap or hip hop. There are always a ton of servers working and it's a very informal spot - servers and bartenders are often on their phones, eating, drinking or hanging out with each other but if you need something, they'll come over pretty quick. I don't think their kitchen is equipped to handle many orders at once so again, don't expect your food to come out as quick as you might want. I've had a good time whenever I've come here so I will continue to return. read more

You would think I was asking them to crack the Morse code or something. Lost story short, they did not honor my request (substitute fries for an empanada) and blamed it on their inventory systems. Got a pickup order from here. I found two huge disgusting clumps of hair in my wings. Unfortunately, the rest of my meal was cooked in the same oil that fried this hair. I should have known not to eat the food when the bones in the wings were all broken. They were clearly just sitting at the bottom of their dirty freezer for who knows how long. Came in as a group of 4, we were out at a table but were only given 2 seats because they were waiting for a party to leave so we can get their table (i don't understand why they didn't give us 4 chairs at our table while we waited, but whatever). I ordered a burger which came with fries it was really good and juicy i liked the sauce it came with. My boyfriend and friends got the chicken quesadilla. I tried it and it was extremely tasty and stuffed. We ordered a hookah which was $35 and we are able to add it to your bill. One down side is they only have mint flavor. My buddies and I arrived in Williamsburg 1 hour early for a meeting with a few of us. We were also going to have something to eat as well. Being that we got there 1 hour earlier, and we were starving and could not wait. I remembered a couple of years ago, this place had good chuletas (pork chips). We got there and they were just about to open..literally turning the key in the door. The owner i believe was not in a good, given probably the corona virus times and it was Sunday morning. Later he actually was a good guy but was focusing and putting tables outside for customers. William, who in1st spoke to about the pork chips was enthusiastic to whip up a plate for me. What annice guy. Since we were going to be hurried, we decided to also get some beers on tap. Their tap was off, unfortunately because they had a variety of good beers on tap. We had to choose beers they had in bottles. They poured out the beers into plastic cups with lids so we can be outside. Those different beers we got including Coors light, Guiness and Modelo were iced cold!!! Now thats how you give a beer to customers. The bartender was so sweet. I believe her name was Vivian, she came outside to check on us a couple of times and also brought the food to the table. The pork chops came, we had also ordered fried plantains, (tostones) and the plate came with a perfect avocado. The pork chip was perfectly fried with no oil on it, and the tastings were crisp and they came with supportive sauces to add to their flavors. Since we could not stay, we felt bad to leave but we will make plans to return another day because of their friendly attitudes. I would give 0 stars if I could. I stopped here for ONE drink a few years ago. The security guard/bouncer stole my phone after it fell on the ground where I was sitting. I didn't realize until about 5 minutes after I left but tracked my phone back to Abba. It was nowhere to be found. I alerted the bartenders and bouncers that my phone was missing, and the DJ made several announcements. Instead of returning it, the bouncer turned off my phone so I could no longer track it. I filed a police report and the detectives spotted him on camera picking up my phone and pocketing it. Hopefully they've fired him since then, but I would never go back. I lost so many photo memories that I'll never get back and I'm still heartbroken years later (last photos of my dog before he passed, my sister's bridal shower, my aunt's wedding, etc.). read more

Had a reservation at Modern Love and got there an hour early, so we headed to this bar to have a few drinks. We were greeted very weirdly. The waitress seemed annoyed that she had to be bothered, was not helpful, nor did she intend to provide any kind of service, so she just asked if we knew what we wanted with a lazy expression and then after providing us with our drinks, sat by the bar, smoking and on her phone. Came here for a night out of drinking and dancing with friends so I can't speak for the food. First, Abba is small, like very very small. And they pack so many small tables in there that it takes up most of what is already a tight space. Thankfully my friends had already snagged a small table on the side of the restaurant, but I def suggest getting there early to get a spot. I only had beer so I can't speak to their actual cocktail menu. We also ordered hookah which was really good compared to other spots in the area. It was a good consistency and the waitress came and checked on it periodically. It was Sunday night and there was a DJ and then a Tipico band who played what seemed like every 25-30 minutes. Also, if you're coming in for *a* drink and using a card like most of the population, be advised that the card minimum is $10...the bartender didn't bother to share this until she'd run the card. When I asked about it, she initially said there was $4 tax on a $6 drink, then switched to "there's a $10 card minimum." Tell the truth and put up a sign if your minimum is substantially more than that of the average business, or at least say so before running the card! Guess who absolutely didn't get a tip! We had to constantly try and find her and were only told "it's coming" every time we inquired. We were a large group with two bills, so we paid one bill with a mix of card and cash and the other one with card. SOMEHOW, the cards were switched, the money was pocketed and we were charged the wrong amounts. The waitress was VERY rude saying it wasn't her fault and gave no explanation as to what happen to the money or how the cards were switched. I never really think about food whenever I go to a bar, so when my friend invited me to a late lunch at Abba, with it's 'Bar' tag the first thing that popped up, I didn't know what to expect. It exceeded expectations in pretty much every way possible. The service, the drinks, the food, and the atmosphere all made for a fantastic first experience. Of particular worthy notice, the coconut mojito, salmon ceviche and the shrimp skewer completely blew me away. The mojito was as refreshing as a summer drink could get, the right amount of flavour and vigor. The ceviche was flavourful, fresh, and the perfect start for a summer meal. The shrimp on the skewer were enormous, seasoned well, and done to perfection. Honestly, my only regret was being full by the time dessert came around (I had some of my friend's, anyway). Needless to say, I can't wait to be back here my next time in Williamsburg. read more

The tacos were mediocre -- far worse than what you'd find at Santos or Williams & Bailey. But worst thing about Abba is that there's no real personality to the place yet. Nice new spot to hang out with friends!!! Cool atmosphere to add to the neighborhood. They have a good selection of beers and delicious tapas/ceviches to share if you want (empanadas are great), or mains if you are more selfish. What I really loved of Abba was the staff. Their (gorgeous) waitress is so cool, attentive and made the best Pisco sour, also recommended a beer for my friend and hit the spot. The chef Pablo Catalan (you can read on his shirt) also took good care of us and asked if we liked the food, which we loved, and explained to us what he wanted when he was designing the menu.
