UPDATE: as of may 14, 3:50pm absolutely no one from ABBA has contacted us to follow up, apolgize, offer any consolation- NOTHING. Now while I fully understand that this CAN happen, it SHOULDNT and their lack of accountability and overwhelmingly POOR response to our beloved trailer being stolen from THEIR PROPERTY, is disgusting. TRAILER WAS STOLEN FROM PROPERTY MAY 12, around 8am. ABBA STORAGE DID NOT CALL OR NOTIFY US UNTIL 12pm on may 13, today. The day I'm writing this review. I am just now getting home after an absolutely unacceptable experience with this facility and its employees. My family and I have been renting a space at Abba storage in Concord for approximately eight years we have stored our Coleman travel trailer there for the entirety of this time yesterday morning somebody came in behind another customer with a U-Haul truck and hitched it up to our trailer and stole it in broad daylight, then on top of it, ABBA Storage, did not call and notify us about our trailer being stolen from their property until approximately 12 PM the following day May 13, the employee at the front desk, lied to me and said that she called me and left me a message after going through my phone records At length she never once called me nor did she leave me a message, hence our shock and surprise finding out the day after that our property had been stolen. When we arrived on Abba Storage's property to discuss this with them. They also told us that they have not filed the police report or called the police. They did not notify anybody about what happened or about our trailer being stolen from their property. ******** EDIT the police officer confirmed that when asked WHY they didn't notify us sooner regarding our stolen property they said they were " too busy" .......! Woman at the front desk also said they know and have known that people have been renting storages to steal peoples property! So that was nice to know and find out! Supposedly the manager does hourly checks on the property to ensure that all trailers and property looks like it's undisturbed and nothing looks out of place, clearly they are not doing that because my trailer was taken so boldly , at 8:22 AM. When asked direct questions from the police officers about the maintenance of the facility and their protocol and procedures. Those were pretty much unanswered and a lot of "uhhh" and we "didn't see it!" Those were the responses. They have been absolutely unhelpful. They have been unapologetic. They did not once offer any sort of consolation or apology for what it happened. "24/7 camera monitoring" should provide you little to no comfort here-- Their cameras are antiquated and are somewhat fuzzy and blurry. When we were going through the footage to review what we could find and what we could see on the footage in order to persecute this thief-- we could barely make out anything. The cameras on the facility are not monitoring every single angle that you think that they are and they certainly don't have high quality footage in order to successfully obtain evidence. I'm not even sure there are enough cameras to make sure that they're capturing everything on ABBA's property. The response from ABBA was extremely disappointing. They have been rude dismissive and frankly, they haven't taken any responsibility for this happening at all. Do not store your personal belongings or property here they do not care about their customers or their personal belongings, and that is a fact.. Their gate is open literally all morning we witnessed tens of cars, simply following each other in back to back to back --and while I DO understand that at a storage facility tailgating, and that kind of stuff is of the nature, it is ALSO the responsibility the storage facility to maintain safe environment for their clients and for their clients property!!!!! If you have property stored here I would recommend you relocate it, expeditiously. read more

The manager Derrick is very disrespectful and has a serious power trip. He speeds through the parking lot barking orders at folks. He almost hit my child as he sped by. Honestly every thing else about the property seems ok just his bad attitude. I'm not referring to an after hour situation. Great independent storage facility. I had an inside storage space for 3 years and it was always easy to get in/get out even during off hours. The office is responsive and resolves issues quickly and is quite friendly. I never had an issue with the storage space, and there are always carts available to move things around. We had a lot to move 3 years ago due to a family member passing and the staff helped out with facilitating moving things around and checking in on our progress. I just moved out completely and the process was quick and painless. read more

We've been customers for about 4 years now. The property is clean, easily accessible, well lit and overall really well managed. There was a storm on 10/24, a level 4/5. We live nearby and the entire area was impacted, including residential. Thankfully our storage unit did not incur water damage. read more

I don't have wide experience with storage facilities, but this has been a good one. We had to suddenly downsize and put some things into storage, and this looked like a good place. It has been a very good place for us. Clean, dry, well taken care of, and a good use of that little strip of land between the houses and creek. Storage units are on one side, RV parking on the other. I don't bug the managers unless I need to. And a few times, I've needed to: moving to a smaller unit, renting the truck, changing payment methods. They have been helpful and accommodating every time. Two notes: (1) There are two entrances. They are sticklers about needing to punch in the code to get in AND out, and don't take kindly to piggybacking on someone else. Security, y'know. (2) It is not 24-hour access. I think if you get in too late, you may find yourself locked in! A good place to use if you need to. read more

This storage facility is huge. I needed space to store some cleaning equipment for my employees while we are in process of moving into another office. Jennifer was great. She showed me few different sizes and how to get in and out. The storage facility is clean and well secured. It has 2 gates. My only wish would be to have access 24/7 and have another gate off of Solano way. There is one gate entrance at Solano way but it closes early and doesn't open till 9am. So I live on Solano and have to drive on the freeway and take the next exit to get in through the second gate on Stanwell. I would like to see another automatic gate on Solano way. They already have a space there and gate is there but it's locked at all times so people have to drive few miles around to get inside. The gate on Stanwell closes at 8pm so be careful not to need anything after hours. The storage facility across the street stays open till 9pm however I ended up choosing ABBA because Jennifer was very nice and Yelp gave me 50% discount off of the first 2 months which was nice. The other storage offered $1 for first month which was nice too. If you guys decide to get a cleaning service I'll give you a good deal. Thank you and please make another automatic gate entrance on Solano way with same hours as Stanwell. Last time I drove all the way from unit I17 to the front gate and it was already closed at 4:48pm on a Sunday. I had to turn around and get out from Stanwell. I don't understand why it has to be so complicated. All these gates should be automatic and have same hours. What's the point of having 2 gates with 2 different operating hours? read more

So far so good! A few months back I found myself in need of some extra storage. My friend stores his RV here and I had came with him once to check on it. I liked the location and the fact that the buildings are only one story so the units are pretty easy to get to which is helpful. Also, their prices are hard to beat. When my storage need came up I gave them a call to see what my options were and to find out the pricing. My mom had offered to pay for the first three months so I mentioned that, they told me I could do it but they advise against as they don't give refunds. I knew in my situation that I was not going to be moving my stuff anytime soon, but they kept telling me they advise against it. The day came when I went in to rent a unit. I'm more of a visual person so they let me know the pricing of two sizes and let me go check them out so I could make my decision. I made my decision and got the unit rented, the process was very easy and quick. After I had the unit a few months I went to go get something out of there, when I got there one of their blue locks was on my unit along with my lock (they do this if you are late on your payments), I was still in my prepaid period so this was their error. The day I was there we were being hit my quite a storm so I was not pleased that I had to go to the office to have someone remove their lock that was there in error (which they did quickly and apologetically). Just this weekend I went back and no extra lock, good thing since the office was closed for Presidents Day, I would have not been pleased. I have had no major issues with storing my stuff here, my friend that keeps his RV had an issue once and the staff was quick to apologize and remedy the situation. I am a small business owner and have been a client at Abba for over five years. I store equipment and supplies there and have found this to be a much cheaper alternative to fixed lease warehouse space. The place is always clean and the security gate system stops unauthorized people from entering the site. A year ago, I asked the new owners if they would expand the gate hours as it was difficult for me to access my unit and low and behold they did it! I haven't needed much since I've been there but when I have had issues I've found the site managers to be cordial and very responsive. It is nice dealing with a company that is locally owned and doesn't have to call corporate every time something slightly out of the ordinary comes up. read more

I did not have any issues with this facility. I stored my car there in a secure garage. The facility has 24 hour video surveillance. The staff was very friendly. The blond girl as well as the Latina girl were very friendly and helpful to assist me with any questions or help I needed. Though one may argue at the other one. They offer credit auto pay so you never have to worry about getting your payment in on time, it does it for you! The only con I can think of is that I found a couple of cockroaches every now and then disgusting! Would come back here in the future if I needed too! read more

We began storing our RV at Abba in December, 2010. In January, Abba called me and left a message asking me to call them. I did and left them a message asking them if they were calling about the fact that I had not sent them a copy of the motorhome registration as requested. I told them I would send it right away and if they were calling about something else to please let me know. The next day I sent them an email with the registration and asked them to let me know if they needed anything else and if everything was okay. They didn't respond so I figured the registration is what they needed. We arrived at Abba February 18th to pick up our RV to go camping. We found the front window broken out, a bunch of stuff stolen, and that someone had been sleeping in it. I spoke to the woman in the office and she said it had been broken into in January. I was so furious, I couldn't even read her the riot act in fear I would totally lose it. I cannot believe that they took no further action after the one phone message they left me which didn't even let me know what happened. Especially when I contacted them twice asking if everything was okay! The part of this whole fiasco that cracks me up is that there are signs by their entry gates that say "Tours Today". Would you store your RV somewhere that has a vehicle with a broken window and glass everywhere? In a nutshell - the management is completely incompetent! read more

I have had 2 units for about 3 years. At the outset the management was friendly/helpful. Unfortunately the owners (?) have recently changed management team and management style and not for the better. Rates have just gone up again and with rudeness to boot. In other words pay up or leave. Well, I have begun shopping folks. You have to work with people. There has no lighting across from my units ever and I have asked numerous times. But, the rates go up so as I said I am shopping. OK, I met with Melissa at ABBA today and found her very helpful, professional and determined to keep us as customers which she has done. read more

Abba is a good storage facility. They have security systems in place to help protect your specific unit as well as sensors around the property that help detect an intruder on foot. Place is kept clean and free of debris as you can see the guy driving around on his golf cart. 2 gates can access from both ends. My only critical feedback would be the gate hours of the office gate. See pic for gate hours. I live almost right outside the main office gate. When it is on lockdown I have to drive all the way around to the other gate. So instead of a 2 min drive its a 10 min drive. read more

Bottom line, they hardly care about their customers... After being a renter for over two years now, I feel that I am qualified to share my experiences for those that may be looking for a new storage unit. I rent one of the largest units in their inventory to store the family boat. I also pay via auto-pay every month and have never been late once in those two years. My reward for being a valued customer? They have raised the rent twice. Most recently WELL above market rate for the same size units in nearby storage facilities. Their response to my inquiry? "Supply and demand"... Really? I occupy the same unit that the previous renter STRUGGLED to pay for each month, requiring collection efforts. But when a customer who pays on time via auto-pay comes along, they raise the rent. Classy! Further, this year I found mice in our unit. They blamed it on the fields. They did manage to give me some bait traps. I'll give them that.. The front door of the drive up unit has been broken for months now. After submitting a request for repairs and giving them my spare key, they NEVER repaired. I made several inquiries... Their response, "that's not us, that's the repair company. But wait we have everything in your file right here, we'll take care of it." Never did. So, bottom line, I'm moving out. I'll be taking my business to someone who values their paying customers. So happy to have found ABBA! I live in my RV full time and travel around the country. However, I am currently staying with a family member in Walnut Creek and they can provide me with water, electric, and watering their garden with my gray water but no place to dump my black water. I have found this part of the country about the least RV friendly anywhere. Not only are there very few resources for RVs, people don't know where to refer you. I was having to drive to the Alameda Fair Grounds to dump my tanks every month. Now, that I have found ABBA, it takes me half the time and their set up is extremely easy and convenient to use. Update... For the first time in 6 weeks I get a call from Jeff at Abba Storage. Maybe this was becuase my bank called or the BBB called or they seen this review. I am not sure. He wanted to give me an explanation of why my return has not been processed. Jeff said my refund was being processed on schedule but due to me calling for an UPDATE on its status 'someone' put in another request asking for a different amount to be refunded to me. He explained due to this difference, my refund was delayed. Again, no one accepted responsibility and he came off as though BECAUSE I called for an update I am the one responsible this delay. Each time I called and they were all phone calls for UPDATES not REQUESTS I was told WE would email this person who handles accounting. I asked Jeff for their contact information and an explanation on why this person has not called me to fix this matter personally. Jeff said I do have their number....I asked Jeff why am I not speaking with the one person who can make this situation right? He got defensive and said I only called to tell you why your refund is delayed. More excuses. Most importantly there was no apology for the mix up. The only way to make this situation right is to directly deposit money into my account with my CC number on file....Once that happens my claim through my bank will drop. Until then good luck ABBA Storage Management. If you want to rent a space with this company pay in cash or check each month. Do not let them automatically charge your CC. Super convenient location and great service! We went to empty our new RV black tank and grey tank. It's really easy to navigate in. There are multiple stations so if someone came behind us, we wouldn't have felt rushed to finish. The person answering the phone answered all my questions. I have been storing a vehicle here since last year. I read the yelp reviews and was a little leery but the location was close and they had availability. The previous manager Jeff gave me a hard time once for following someone in the gate without entering code but otherwise had no issues. Today i decided to switch spaces and spoke to Melissa who is the new manager there. What a breath of fresh air. I spoke to her on the phone and in person and she was very helpful and accommodating. She also shared with me a cool phone app. It's called Easycode. You download it for free, get the access codes from the office, and you can open either gate during hours with your phone without having to get out and press the keypad code in. How cool is that? It only works when you are on location but is a great amenity. read more

Long story short, now that this business is under new management apparently they feel entitled to treat their customers with zero respect. In fact, today I experienced the worst face to face customer service I've ever experienced in a service oriented business. After two years of renting a storage unit (and paying my rent in full in advance for both years), I had a problem with my roll up door today. Upon arrival, I was unable to open it and after attempting several times, I drove down to the onsite Property Manager's office to ask for assistance. Nobody was inside the office and the sign on the door showed they would return in an hour. I then saw a maintenance man so I asked if he could help me. He came down to my unit and after a few attempts he was able to partially raise the roll up door but the entire door itself was off the roller and hanging down at a slant. Clearly the whole door was not functional and visibly broken. He said he could move me into another unit but that I would have to wait and sign a new contract. I told him nobody was in the Manager's office and I didn't have a long time to wait. He called the Property Manger's office himself and discussed the situation directly with the Property Manager. I also made a few attempts calling the Property Manager at the number he provided me but nobody would answer. Anyhow, he told me that I should drive back down to the Property Manager's office and fill out the new contract for the transfer to the new unit. Mind you it's 100 degrees outside, shade is non-existent and I've now been dealing with this issue for over an hour. Upon entering the Property Manager's office I was greeted by an angry, aggressive, belligerent and demeaning individual named Melissa who yelled at me that she was on her lunch break (at 3 pm?) and that I would have to wait outside until she was finished with her break. She even threatened me that if I didn't do what she just told me to do that she wouldn't help me at all. Remember it's 100 degrees outside and this unfortunate issue with my roll up door is a maintenance/emergency responsibility on their end, not mine. I told her I would not wait outside due to the heat and reminded her that this matter needed her prompt attention. Furthermore, the Abba Storage office hours are posted as Mon-Fri 9 am- 6 pm so they should honor customers during those hours of business. I was completely taken back by her rudeness toward me and I could not believe that a Property Manager had the audacity to treat a customer in this manner. Clearly she is unfit for her current customer service oriented position as Property Manager. In the end, I was transferred to another unit but I was completely disrespected and made to feel of no value as a long term paying customer following this incident. Melissa offered no apology for her rude behavior toward me and never took any responsibility for her defensive actions whatsoever. Not even a simple "sorry this incident happened" nor did she make note on the new contract that the roll up door was inoperable and broken on my original unit and that's why I was transferred to another unit. I will no longer be a customer of Abba Storage when my unit comes up for renewal. My only regret is that I paid for the entire year in advance, otherwise I would leave earlier. I will be taking my business elsewhere since Abba Storage apparently doesn't need my business as shown by Melissa's actions today. My hope in posting this review is that Abba Storage be reminded that customers always come first (no matter what type of business it is) and employees who work for the business will make or break the business by how they treat the customers. *9-16-2015------ Follow Up I wanted to post that I received a phone call from upper management today & I had a friendly constructive conversation with Joe about the incident. Although it doesn't erase what happened the other day with his on site Property Manager, I do feel that after my pleasant discussion with Joe that he will implement the feedback I provided him & use it to positively address his employees about how to manage customer relations more responsibly on their end. read more

I've been using Abba to dump the tanks in my travel trailer ever since we got it several years ago, and I couldn't be happier. They are open every day, including Sunday. Access is very good with enough room for a full size one-ton pickup pulling a 31 foot trailer. There is no need for an extra long hose since you can position your trailer such that the drain pipe within a couple of feet of the manhole cover. Overall, I am very happy with Abba and glad they are in business. read more

I used Abba Storage for years and just closed out my unit with them due to moving to SoCal. My belongings were safe and well looked after. I've never had problems there. No water issues, no layers of dust and dirt. The units are well built and my unit was never broken into or any attempts were made. The staff has always been accommodating and proactive. The current on site manager is Jeff and has been a pleasure to work it. I'm actually sorry to have to move my things elsewhere, but 450 miles isn't convenient! Other places may charge less, but Abba beats them all with excellent service, clean and secure units, and an above average facility. Store your belongings with confidence and sleep easy. I have stored my RV there since early 2008. I've sold it and am moving it out at the end of the month, and there is little love lost on my part in ending my relationship with this business. First the pluses: All surfaces paved, and the facility is mostly well-maintained, except for sub-par pest control. They purport to have good surveillance and security, and at first glance it all looks good. That's about it for the pluses. The minuses: The former owners and now managers, Jeff and Karen, have possibly the worst customer relations skills I've ever seen. I've seen them actually yell at customers, Karen is especially bad about this; I've seen her described as a bitch on wheels. My tenant has a storage space there, and one of Karen's tirades was directed at him shortly after he moved in, claiming he was late with rent (he was not). She tried it with me once early on, and I made it really clear that it wouldn't fly. Then today, I got a call from Jeff, asking me why my RV was still there, since I had moved it out at the end of March. I told him no, I actually spoke to him at the end of March and told him that I would move out at the end of April. No exact date, but I would be out by May 1. Then he goes off on me, with a very accusatory tone, telling me that I didn't pay rent and it was overdue with a late penalty. Looked quickly at my bank account and couldn't find payment; told him I would look into it further and make payment if it was due. He continued to be very huffy with me, until I pointed out that in over 5 years I had NEVER been late with paying rent. He looked at my account, acknowledged it and calmed down. Later on in the day, I looked at my bank account more closely and found that I had made payment and they had cashed the check. Called him back and told him, and faxed him a copy of the cancelled check. He says he'll look into it...I'm less than pleased about how the whole situation was handled. I shouldn't have to calm down the business owner, if anything, the only thing that should happen is he maybe has to handle an irate customer now and then. I'm not one of those customers, unless you back me into a corner and don't have your facts straight. Security: Early in 2011, either January or February, I come home to a message on my answering machine from them to please call them back right away. Supposedly their state of the art security had failed, some people had broken into the lot and were sleeping in some of the RV's. They told me I should go out and check mine. I went out, it had indeed been vandalized. A couple of screen windows damaged, window frames jacked up, trim ripped off the outside of the RV, TV and DVD player stolen and the interior tossed. Still not sure what all was taken. Then, sometime last month, I go out to find a big gash in exterior body on the front of the over-cab sleeping compartment. Fiberglass damage, roof trim ripped with ensuing leak and water damage. It looks as if another large rig or truck backed into it, based on the height of the damage. I had to file an insurance claim; I wasn't about to get into a pissing match with them. All I got out of the initial break-in was 1 month's rent comped. Pest control: Where I had my RV originally parked, there was a huge problem with hornets. I complained for over 2 years about it. Hornets were building huge nests on the outside of the RV: under the entry step, in the refrigerator compartment, on the side windows and winshield, etc. They kept promising pest control but it never got better. Finally, I got tired of dealing with the infestation myself and asked to be moved. I moved my rig to the far end of the facility (It's almost a mile long), and haven't had a problem since. Access: No 24 hour access to RV's parked there. If you get home late at night, you have to wait til morning to re-park. I don't know if there are better storage facilities out here, but I'm glad I don't need to look for one. Good riddance to bad service. read more

After interviewing eight different options for self storage, we chose ABBA Self & RV Storage. Their pricing are extremely competitive. But that was no the main factor. You know and understand business is people. The resident managers Karen abd Chris Dunlap are the most accomodating people I found describing their company's benefits. Their units are extremely clean, insulated ceilings and walls and have an automatic timer on the interior light. If you need storage, go see Karen and Chris at ABBA!
