On the day I came in, the card machine was down so it was cash only. The cashier kindly informed me where the nearest ATM was, and offered to package up my donuts then so I could swing back around to pay when I got cash. She was very helpful and kind. The inside of the store is cute and has all of the donuts on display, as well as some seating. I ordered a mini apple fritter and a raspberry jam filled glazed donut. The apple fritter was served warm and had huge chunks of apple in it! It also had a really nice flavor, though it was a little greasier than I'd like. The raspberry jam filled glazed donut was definitely my favorite! The glaze was perfectly crackly and sweet, and the donut itself was so fluffy and soft. It had a very generous amount of that jam filling, which was both tart and sweet! Absolutely delicious and I definitely recommend this one. read more

What a great find! It's a small bakery but it sure delivers some delicious sweets! I can understand why this place has good reviews and a strong local following- the line was out the door for service. Today I only picked up a few sweets - an apple fritter, a valentines decorated donut, a cinnamon role, a cup of coffee and one other sweet item. Everything was very good. Wanted donuts today so I hit abbe's before the crowd 6:00 am . My wife loves the angel cream and I like the Boston cream, so I ordered two of each. It's been probably 6 months since last time I was here. Last time four donuts $10 , this time, four donuts $12 . I was in and out quickly because of the hour. Donuts were very good and over filled but prices are just getting ridiculous. Probably won't go back unless I get company in for a visit. read more

This is a wonderful donut shop in Port Charlotte. They make fresh, homemade donuts - in fact just as I arrived at the counter to order, the owner/manager? was bringing a tray of newly made donuts out. While the other employee was waiting on another customer, she finished putting the donuts away and then greeted me with a smile and asked me what I was having. I tried one that she had just brought out. It was a sort of a cinnamon bun that had all kinds of chipped nuts on top and a creamy sugar drip frosting, with a cinnamon flavored cream inside. It was really, really good! I also tried a chocolate iced cake donut that was amazing and must be a favorite as I took the last one in the counter, sorry, not sorry, ha! My coffee was very good too. It's not a big place. There's about 4 tables for seating inside. There's also a couch by the entrance. There's a table and chairs outside as well. Their hours are 5am - Noon daily, except Mondays when they're closed. I was there at around 10am on a Sunday and business was good with a lot of takeouts. I also heard several customers asking for a particular type of donut but only to find out they were all out. (Get there early). If you haven't been here yet this is a great place for you to try. I recently gave an order for 26 pieces. I got there and the charge was 57.00 dollars. I was on my way to work so I just paid and left. Later I got on my computer and verified the cost of the donuts. They had overcharged my by 23.00. I contacted them the first thing she said to me was the prices had not been updated on the website. I said, you cant do that. You cant advertise one price and charge another, it is against the law. She told me to never come to her store again. She said she would check and if they owed me money she would send a check. I have not heard from her since. A friend went to the Abbys in North Port today and got 24 pieces and it was about 31.00. That made sense. This is a terrible way to do business. I will never go there again. This is the Abbys on the corner of Tamiami and Forrest Nelson. If you go there you better ask ahead of time what the charge will be. In fact, I would ask that you do not go there. Maybe if people stop going they will stop cheating people. read more

Best donuts we have had in Charlotte County. By the time we arrived, 10:30 am on a weekday the cupboards were almost bare. Still, we wanted to buy a dozen and sample their wares. The lady behind the counter really didn't want us there. She was quite curt and bordering on rude. It felt like we were standing between her and closing the store for the day.
