I took all three of my kids here for their braces. I also got my braces here. I didn't have any complaints except when their quoting process for braces is not accurate at all. My kids have phase 1 and 2 braces. I paid for both phases in full. i came into an appt recently and was told that they wouldn't see my children until I paid an additional $2k that they misquoted. Wonderful staff for regular cleanings. Poor experience with referral for wisdom teeth extraction. I was told they would send it to an in office provider and notified if the procedure could be done there, if not it would be sent out to the oral surgeon. After four weeks I reached out to the office to follow up on my case, apparently it would need to be sent out to an oral surgeon and I would need to call to set up an appointment. I was not notified I was not able to be seen in office or it was my responsibility at this point. When following up with the oral surgeons office, the total cost would be about 4 times the cost quoted to me at Abbeville. Disappointed in their follow up care as it was stressed how important having my wisdom teeth removed as soon as possible for my oral health would be, but was never notified they could not provide the service. read more

I used to love everybody at this dentist office. my whole family went for years. They were always so kind and worked with you on finances. But not anymore!!! The only ones nice are the dental assistant and Dr. Tiner. Also to me they take way more X-rays than they need. I was in just last week and they took X-rays. then today they took three different kinds of X-rays and didn't use the ones they took last week so double charged. I went in today to have my teeth cleaned and after ALL the X-rays, they asked me if I still want my teeth cleaned. What the heck kind of question is that? This office is all about the almighty dollar. They do not care to give you the treatment that you actually need, only worry about being able to charge you and make you pay from your chair before the dentist will do any additional work. I waited an hour and a half (paid my co-pay) before I ever saw the dentist and then had to consult with the office staff again about how much it would cost to replace a filling (over $400 after insurance) before the dentist would come back and treat me. I had a horrible infection in my jaw and called my local dentist in Roswell, NM. They set my appointment out for 5 months. I called Abbeville South in Lubbock and they said they would see me that afternoon. I have already had four appointments with them and my original date with my established dentist still isn't here. Not gonna lie, it had been 15 years since I had my teeth cleaned because they always hurt me so bad. Every 6 months for years I had allowed a dental hygienist to butcher my mouth, made me bleed and split the corners on my mouth EVERY TIME. It hurt for DAYS afterwards. Mary cleaned my teeth for the first time - NO PAIN! No bleeding gums and no ripped mouth.... I HIGHLY recommend Abbeville South. Both dentists I have seen were awesome and the hygienist, Mary is the best EVER!!! read more

Good experience. The dentist that worked on me was very patient and friendly and really put me at ease. Everyone seemed really friendly and accommodating which is important when you're nervous about the visit. Cons: -They throw a lot at you in regards to additional service. Almost felt like they were working on you to score some up charges. -They referred me out to a surgeon, West Texas Oral, to get my wisdom teeth pulled. This surgeon doesn't work with insurance and I thought they were jerks with my experience with them. This kind of reflected on abbeyville in my opinion. They honestly didn't seem thrilled when I questioned their lack of insurance acceptance. -Wasn't too happy to still get a bill in the mail despite all the out of pocket and insurance expense already charged up front. read more

They were able to get me in the next day for my emergency dental pain, and even to complete the dental work that I needed done, when other dentists were telling me it would be over a month to be seen! The exam and x-rays were free because I was a new patient, and the staff was beyond helpful and caring. They also spent time explaining the costs to me after my exam because I do not have dental insurance. Their rates were comparable to several other places I had already contacted. I am forever grateful to this place for expediting my care and ridding me of my DEBILITATING dental pain. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I had work done for a new crown on May 28. I returned on June 28 for the new crown to be set in place. I paid up front for everything on May 28 and filled out their required form that asks about medications, gender identity (yep, I was asked this for nothing more than dental work), personal pronouns (no kidding), my pharmacy, my surgeries, emergency contact info, etc. When I went in today, I was told that I would have to fill out that form again. I simply wrote "same as last time" on every page since nothing has changed over 4 weeks and signed their form. They informed me that they would not put in the crown I had paid for unless I filled out every line and checked every box that needed checking. I told them that I had already paid for the dental work in advance and that I had signed their form and they refused to complete the work that I had already paid for. They said they would refund what I had paid and left me with a temporary crown in place. They refused to go back and simply pull out the form that I had filled in only 4 weeks earlier. read more

Pulling teeth to get into that office. I had a referral from 45th Ave. for an extraction on June 28, I needed an emergency visit on June 19 but I canceled it and told them just keep the 28th and they said OK I called them this morning to confirm and they have no record of me having an appointment now they're telling me to come in on July 5 to be evaluated by the dentist then they're going to call my doctor to find out the medication's. I'm on and then I'll make a decision on when my next appointment is what have they been doing all this time that they couldn't call my doctor more time wasted I'm sorry I have a went to this place . read more

I have been to Abbeville 3 times, always for nothing more than routine check-ups. The staff is extremely friendly. I thought it strange that they are forcing patients sign authorization forms on electronic signature devices without presenting an documents or forms at all. I was just there for routine check-ups covered by insurance, so I explained that to them and signed BLINDLY. On every visit it seemed as though every staff member was a COMMISSIONED SALES PERSON. They never stopped pressing me to upgrade the standard check-up service or to schedule additional services above what the American Dental Association describes as a routine check-up. They constantly want do additional services not covered by insurance. I had recently had a 48 year old crown glued back on, so when I went to Abbeville for routine annual check-up which includes x-rays I pointed out that repair and made them aware of that repair. Upon my departure from the regular check-up I was told that I did not owe anything. Twenty eight days, I received a Past Due Statement for additional x-rays that I never requested. So apparently any patient reference to any condition existing in your month authorizes Abbeville to bill you for extra services. They are extremely friendly and if you aren't careful they will charge you for the moon and everything between here and there. There Up-Sell Operation is their PRIMARY GOAL, not your dental health. read more

I have been a customer since 2009 (9 years). I've always paid my bills and have been very loyal. I've had a lot of work done with Abbeville, from crowns to fillings to bridges and veneers. On one situation I was told that my lower teeth veneers would cost me $876.00. Earlier in the year about February I was told the same thing that it would cost me around $832.00. I've had my upper teeth veneers done a few years earlier and it was somewhat expensive but I paid it off. I mentioned to the admin lady that it was a lot more expensive in the past. The admin lady mentioned that technology is better now and prices have changed. Still being hesitant I mentioned I will wait till next year. Then the lady mentioned that due to my deductible, next year might be more expensive. At that point I considered how cheap it was for my lower teeth and made the decision to continue with the operation! After having my teeth grinded down and only a few days before my veneers would be placed on my lower teeth, I get a call from Abbeville saying that my veneers will cost me $4000 and that the dentist would not fit my veneers until the bill is paid in full!! I was shocked and dumbfounded!! All this time I was told it would only cost me only $876.00!! On two separate occasions (February and September 2017) I was told my veneers would cost me only $876.00 that's it!! If I knew it would cost me $4000.00 then I would not have done it!! Ultimately I financed the $4000.00 because I couldn't walk around with temporary fake teeth! I'm never ever going back to Abbeville but I will continue telling my story to prevent others from being misled and tricked into getting an unwanted and unnecessary operation! Trying to reach anyone at this office is INSANELY harder than it needs to be. I have had issues for almost 2 weeks. First, I had a message to call back and speak to Jennifer (which she told me when I scheduled that she would call with pre-op info). I called and the patient services call center they use wouldn't connect to me the office or Jennifer saying the call was "probably to confirm appointment". 2 days later Jennifer called and left another message asking me to call. I call back and go through the same thing again - even though they had already confirmed the appointment last time I had this conversation. They finally say they will send Jennifer a message telling her I called. I immediately get a call back from someone who says they are sitting right next to Jennifer - like what?!!? why wasn't I connected to her then!?!? So i finally get Jennifer and share my displeasure with the phone set-up. She admits they get complaints all the time and goes over the info with me. I tell her she doesn't need to bother calling me the day before since I have all the info now. Fast forward to day of surgery (for a child, no less). Apparently the assistant didn't write down the pharmacy we use even though I told her when she asked. As I'm loading my very woozy 14 year old they call my cell to ask for the pharmacy info - I'm right at their back entrance! Come ask me. I can't answer and didn't think to call back since it wasn't the number they have called from before. They call a second time while I'm driving and leave a message. I call back as soon as I get home and the number sends me to Denis-tree - their braces office, not the office that did the procedure. I explain my confusion and she transfers me to South, but I get a voicemail box. I leave a message and then call the South number. Once again I go through the run around with the call center people. After getting nowhere with them even after explaining why I need to talk to someone at the office, I call back to the braces place and beg her to help me get through to the South office. After being on hold for 9 mins, I get someone there. They also admit the phone system is awful and they don't know why the pharmacy was written down. At this point I am over it and never plan to use any location again. It should not be that hard to get through to the people who need to talk to ME - in all cases they are the ones who needed info from me, not the other way around. I'm currently on hold (38 mins) to talk to the office manager Bottom line, if you want to be able to reach the actual office you visit, DO NOT use Abbeyville. They know the phone system sucks, but haven't fixed it. read more

So I went to the Abbeville location at 82nd and Milwaukee. This was my second visit. First visit had a tooth removed, great service, good dentist. Second time I had a toothache and felt as if a tooth was loose. After a thorough set of X-rays, they found an infection in a root canal I had done at another dental a few years back. I was told the only relief was to get the root canal done again at $2,100. I asked my dentist if she could prescribe me anti biotics to see if it would clear it, and she told me that antibiotics would not work as the infection was in the bone. So I left, talked to Terri different pharmacists that I know who both told me an infection can be cleared no matter where the infection is in the body. So I called the dentist back a few days later to see if she would prescribe me some to try, and they refused unless I came back in for another exam. I told them I was working the entire week and couldn't come in as I worked out of town, and they REFUSED to prescribe me anything to try and clear the infection. WHAT THE HELL???? They had just seen me 4 days before, found the infection, knew exactly where it was, and refused to try and help me. This is the LAST time this company will get a dime from me. How UTTERLY PATHETIC!!!! What kind of doctor refuses to try and help their patient??? A shit doctor, that's what kind!! They wanted me to have to spend two grand with them instead so try and help. I also need a crown on another tooth, and two wisdom teeth pulled. That was going to be another $3,500 or so I was going to pay them. I will give my money to another dentist, the kind that actually care about their patients. I would recommend that NOBODY ever support this dental group. They do not care about the patient, they care about money, plain and simple. read more

My daughter had a cap replaced there. It has hurt her the entire time. She told them it still hurt her and they did very little to help. Then when it was time to put the final cap on, the dentist stabbed her cheek on the OTHER side of her mouth with the needle that went alth way through her cheek. My daughter was in pain and upset and told her to not touch her and that she was unprofessional. They over collected when I went in for a procedure, even though they confirmed with me multiple times over the phone before that that it would only be half of what they claimed when I went in, and refused to see me until I had paid the balance they claimed I owed in full. Fast forward to today, over 5 months after my surgery, and 11 weeks after getting my EOB and requesting a refund for the money they owe me, and THEY STILL HAVE NOT SENT IT OUT, and refuse to help me claiming its been sent to the corporate office and they can't do anything with it. My dental plan limits me to basically Abbeville in the area. While the service is good, the hygienists are friendly and do good work, I've had issues about not being told services would cost extra while they were being performed. Had no clue that fluoride treatment was "extra" if you're not a child. While in the chair, I was just asked what flavor I wanted. Needless to say I was shocked when I expected no bill for a routine cleaning and was charged for the extras. I've called for two and a half months afterwards (trying to get a response) before I got any sort or resolution. The outcome is still pending (they stated one insurance company has just reimbursed last month), I believe the outcome will eventually be favorable. While I would go back (even if I had other options), I would just stress that the hygienists be more informative with the treatment plans. I know what to watch out for now, but wish it was presented to the customer differently. read more

Since my daughter attends TTU she had to find a new dentist in that area. She picked Abbeville and went to have a checkup with Dr. Wilkins. Dr. Wilkins told her she had 4 impacted wisdom teeth that had to be removed right away at $1000 - $1200 per tooth. I booked an appointment for her with an oral surgeon at home since this was a major procedure. She went to get the x-rays and was told by Beverley the charge would be $54, when the credit card statement came the charge was $199 for the two digital, emailed copies of the x-rays. When I called to question the charge Beverly told me "Well, that's our normal charge for x-rays, if we did the work it would have only been $54." The kicker is that the oral surgeon who did remove the teeth had to take new x-rays as the ones provided by Abbeville Dentistry were of poor quality and determined NONE of the wisdom teeth were impacted and all but 1 had actually erupted from the gums already! Seems to me Abbeville Dentistry and Dr. Wilkins had created poor x-rays and given a bad diagnosis! It's not the money spend it's the fact the x-rays weren't good enough for the surgeon and the diagnosis was wrong. This situation makes me wonder about this dental practice. Are they providing good dental care to the TTU community or are they using that community to make a quick buck and providing poor dental care to boot? We are currently shopping for a better provider in Lubbock. read more

This is the worst experience I have ever had with dentistry - I was told I had 13 cavities so I went back to my old dentist who told me I only had TWO. They wanted to put caps on my teeth where I only had STAINS. They use an inaccurate machine and base their entire decision on that - I've never seen a dentist there and yet apparently I have 13 cavities. He was quick and efficient and made it painless. They gave me numbing gel at first to help with the needle also. The assistants were knowledgeable and patient too. UPDATE: as I was leaving the office the day of my appointment, I asked the receptionist to cancel my kids appointments. She said she got. I get a call today and they didn't cancel. Also, I spent 20 minutes making appointments for all of us and they got two of he four of us. I told them I would not be coming back and I had been a loyal customer since I was 8. She did not seem to care nor did she even consider asking if I would like to speak to office manager. I guess they have enough customers that they don't care if they lose people. I am so disappointed in the lack of caring and service. I just spent two and half hours in a chair for a cleaning and two fillings. The dentist and his assistant were friendly, but I felt like I was at a "fast food" dentist. He was literally seeing every patient there. It seems like he probably could have used some help. I was in a chair for almost 45 minutes after he numbed me, as he saw three other patients, and the numbing started to wear off. He seemed super rushed and I did not feel as though the service was like it has been in the past. A person shouldn't feel like they're being rushed out of the door when it comes to their teeth. Then I go to check out and I am informed my method of payment is no longer accepted. I told the person at the counter it would have been nice to know this information, as I don't have what I was charged for and usually pay using the Wells Fargo Dental Plan. At the time of making the appointment, I should have been made aware that this was no longer accepted. They said as a "curtesy" they would permit me to pay it out. That doesn't help me with my work dental reimbursement plan. I have been going here since I was a teenager. I will not go back. I am furious. And the person at the counter checking me out was absolutely no help. She offered no resolution other than paying it off. I am done with this place and will find a new dentist. read more

Had good experience for years. Then I had an awful experience during a cleaning. The hygienist did not offer any anesthesia just started picking and grinding. She ignored my protests and did a poor job. She talked to everyone walking by and stopped frequently. I was sore for 3 days. I reported that I didn't want her touching me again. They ignored me. I went in for a pair of recommended fillings on teeth that were not hurting. 6months+ later I still cannot chew on one side of my mouth. 4 visits to try and fix it and they gave up and referred me to another doctor. The one who did my fillings had 3 days of scruff, bloodshot eyes and looked like he was coming off a bender. They call every 3 months to schedule a cleaning. I remind them that the hygienist who left me sore is not to touch me, so up and they seat me in her chair. I walked out last time when she walked up before she could do or say anything. They billed my card anyways. I will never go back! read more

This is the worst place I have ever gone for Dental. Their Customer Service is HORRIBLE. I have a very painful tooth that I need to have extracted . I went in for a Consultation early last week and scheduled the procedure for yesterday. I show up for the procedure , and I am told I have to pay almost $ 300 in advance. What ? I was never told that . I was told they would reschedule when I could afford to pay the $300 in advance. I was never told that I would need that money upfront. I could have easily put it on a credit card but with her indifference to my suffering , I elected to go elsewhere . I called to cancel 2 more procedures that I had scheduled during my consultation . The lady asked when I would like to reschedule for and I told here I was not rescheduling , I was cancelling. I told her why and about an hour later some manager called me and was equally indifferent and was clearly placating me. So long story short , they have so many patients that they can afford to treat new patients with excellent insurance like crap. They don't need you. read more

When I first moved to Lubbock I received a welcome pack with many offers including a $10 consultation at Abbeville. I figured that I needed a new dentist in town, and their office on 4th street was near my house, plus I was considering Invisiline which they do there, so I thought I'd go ahead and make an appointment. WHAT A MISTAKE! Unless you have really awesome dental insurance that will cover a number of unnecessary dental procedures avoid this office. My $10 consultation ended up lasting almost 2 hours where I had multiple x-rays and photos of my teeth taken. I should mention that my mom works for a dentist (not in Lubbock), and because of this I have had regular cleanings for the last 7 or 8 years. After my consultation they told me I needed EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS in dental treatment! (This did not even include the invisalign or the re-treatment of a root canal they said I needed). They said I had a number of cavities that needed filling, needed to have a extra peridontal treatment, needed to have the rest of my teeth sealed, and needed to replace my aluminum crowns (yes I have had one for like 15 years that probably needs replaced, the other however was about a year old and its in the back of my mouth so nobody can see it). Not only that - but my $10 consultation turned into a $110 consultation when they took additional panoramic x-rays without telling me that it would cost extra. A couple months later over the Christmas holiday I visited my normal dentist with their "treatment plan" in hand, and in his opinion non of the teeth they said needed filling really did and what they called cavities were just normal wear and pitting on my tooth. read more

I went to the them five years ago or so and received an extensive treatment plan. For the price of the recommended treatment I could have bought a fairly decent automobile. I would never recommend this dental practice. Especially where dentures are concerned! My top dentures have broken FOUR TIMES just this year alone! Every time has been from simply eating and I'm not talking about eating a tough piece of meat or anything like that. Two times they broke while eating pizza. My mother has had dentures for 17 years and they have never broke. I've had mine less than three years and they have broke four times already! This leads me to the conclusion that Abbeville's dentures are simply an inferior product. Another complaint I have is that except for my initial visit I have never dealt with an actual dentist, only dental assistants and dental techs and it is never the same one. Right now my dentures are under warranty but with the experience I have had I am extremely worried about when the warranty expires. Avoid Abbeville Dentistry at all costs! read more

This is my first Yelp review, but I had to warn other people about the RUDE staff at the 79th St. location. I just picked my husband up from there, where they said I HAD TO SIT AND WAIT the entire two hours instead of picking him up when he was finished. I sat in that office with an extremely tired & hungry toddler FOR NO REASON. They could have easily just called me when he was done. This policy is INSANE and they could not be more hateful & rude about it. I'll be going somewhere else (anywhere else) for my dental needs. read more
