I just recently looked up this company again after being very happy with the work they performed for me approximately 4 years ago. They installed carpet in 3 bedrooms and a separate closet in my house. They did an excellent job with the work, were timely, professional, helpful in choosing the product to be installed and on point with their estimate. I was surprised to see a bad review so I thought I would share my experience with them. I will be using them to install carpet in one additional large room and repair some flood damaged carpet that they had previously installed (I left a sink running and walked away like a dufus haha). Had a great experience here with getting new carpet for my sons bedroom. Customer Service was great and I was shown a good variety of different types of carpet to choose from at a reasonable price. Installation was great! The guys came in, did their thing and left my sons bedroom looking clean and brand new again with the lovely carpet we chose. It is very soft and we couldn't be more happier with our choice! The best part was receiving a phone call from Abby's checking in on how everything went with installation and how we were feeling with our choice. Now that's great customer service! I was extremely pleased with my recent carpet install. A two-man crew showed up on time, worked diligently for about 7 hours, and then left my home perfectly vacuumed and tidied up at the end of the job with no sign of my old carpeting. The crew also moved large pieces of furniture out of the way and replaced everything when the new carpet was in place. The end result was fantastic - the new carpet was cut precisely, seams are well hidden, and my home looks brand new. Great work! read more

Our overall experience with Abbey's has been very disappointing. We shopped around several places before selecting Abbey's for our flooring. We primarily worked with Pat who was very knowledgeable and helpful. Our plan all along was to install the vinyl plank ourselves and hire Abbey's to replace the carpet on the stairs and install a transition cap to match the vinyl plank. Pablo came out to measure our stairs. He knew of our intentions of having them install the carpet and finish the top of the stairs with the transition cap as well. Although the work order did not list the the transition cap, we expected that this was included based on our numerous conversations with Pat and Pablo. The day before the carpet was to be installed, I called and spoke with Tonia. I wanted to make sure they had received the transition cap and that it would be on the truck. She confirmed and assured me it would be. The installers showed up the next day with no cap. I immediately left Pat a message saying the nose cap was not on the truck despite Tonia confirming it was. The  installers ended up having to tape down the end of the carpet at the top of the stairs.    It took numerous phone calls (many of them unreturned) to get to the bottom of this. I was told that the part was ordered but hadn't arrived on time. I was finally contacted when the transition came in. The packaging on the transition has the date it was ordered which was several days after the carpet was installed. Someone dropped the ball and lied about when they ordered it. I opened the packaging for the transition cap and found that it was the wrong color!! I left another message about this mistake. Pat apologized and said she would reorder it. The correct transition finally arrived. I called to ask when they would be installing it. I was immediately transferred to Pablo who told me they were going to charge me an additional $100 to install it! What?! He told me I would have to pay up or they would not install the transition or give me the correct part.   Despite the fact that the transition piece is not in the contract, it is very clear that Abbey's knew we were expecting that this was included in our purchase. I've had numerous conversations with Pat about our plans, I told Pablo the same thing when he came to take measurements and Tonia confirmed the piece had arrived and would be on the truck for the carpet installation day only later to be proven false. Pablo tried to shift the conversation away from the lies I was told by saying they bent over backwards for us by returning excess product. Yes, they did the return for us. That had nothing to do with the fact that they are now backtracking and refusing to complete a job. The quality of the flooring materials they sell is great. No complaints there. After spending over $4,000 on flooring, I cannot believe they are being so unprofessional about something so little considering the numerous screwups on their end. Would not use them again nor recommend them to anyone. Stay away! read more

Best and cheapest place in town. Very professional! A wonderful experience from start to finish. We needed to remove the carpet in a room that had been stained with cat pee. I got on the phone, and called different places trying to get an estimate. I had the dimensions of the room in front of me and wanted to talk to somebody who could give me a realistic price. I had a difficult time getting people to give me a straight answer as to the cost even though I had the dimensions in front of me. Home depot was by far the most confusing place I called. Clearly the people in that department didn't know much about what they were selling or how to help me, and it was not the cheapest option in town. When I called this place (Abbey's Carpet City), I reached an old guy named Gerry (I think he might be the owner, not sure, but he's the guy you want to talk to). He was a straight up no-nonsense guy. He understood exactly what I was describing to him, and I could hear him scribbling notes and punching numbers into a calculator as I was talking. When he was done, he gave me an estimate that was $200 less than anyone else in town (and I called ever single flooring place in santa barbara). We rushed down there a 1/2 hour before it closed, and Gerry helped my wife and I pick what we wanted from several different options that he said would work with the dimensions of the room. There were no surprise fees and the total cost was very close to the estimate Gerry gave me. The carpet guys came the next morning and pounded out the room in less than 45 minutes. I couldn't believe how fast it was. These guys are professionals! read more

OMG! These guys (and gals) are great. I went to Home Depot to get an estimate for carpet removal and installation in my master bedroom, hallway, and an 7' by 11' inset in the living room. I waited and waited for somebody to help me with no luck. Finally, after 20 minutes, I was told that the carpet guy would be with me soon. I waited and met with the carpet guy. During the process, the carpet guy told me that a deposit was required for the estimate. They would send a "contracted" person from outside company to give estimate and after the estimate we could figure out the costs of the carpet. He wasn't willing to give me some ideas while at the store (I don't know if he was busy or what). I decided not to commit to anything while at Home Depot. My brother has done a lot of business with Abbey's Carpet so on his referral I called and spoke with a friendly lady (can't remember her name) who answered all of my questions. I was so happy with the phone conversation that I went to the store the next day and met with Cindy Fry (co-worker of the lady I spoke with). I told Cindy exactly what I wanted and she provided me with a couple of options, one of them was perfect. I scheduled the estimate and decided to move forward with Abbeys. On the day of installation (a Saturday), I had a last minute change of plans and had to leave town. The installation crew took my instructions over the phone and called to confirm what I wanted. They didn't assume anything. I made it home on Monday to find my new carpet installed better than I expected. Everything was perfect! I HIGHLY recommend Abbey's Carpet!!! read more

This place sucks. My fiancé researched flooring places and decided to go with Abbey's because they are local and originally were so helpful. We were re doing the flooring in our entire house. The first half of working with them was great, however the second half was awful. The main rep helping us stopped returning calls and gave way too much info about her personal life with regards to not calling us back. Terrible customer service. You can't even reach a main line when you call- you have to respond to a specific person. They did an incomplete install job on our stairs, leaving out a cap to finish attaching the carpet to vinyl planks at the top of our stairs. They lied and told us a part was on the truck to be installed, but then showed up without it. Now they are telling us we have to pay additional money to have it installed- clearly going back on their original word. They also lied about even ordering the past because the order date on the actual box, once we got it, was a week after we had the carpet installed. Oh, and also, they ordered the WRONG nose cap. Such poor attention to detail. Lying to their customers. It takes multiple calls to get any response back. Not going here again, nor recommending people. I will be sure to advise people away from this place. They said they would deliver the correct nose cap to us once it was actually ordered and now they're holding it hostage, again going back on their word, saying we won't get it until we pay our install fee for the carpet on our stairs. But why would we pay for the install when it hasn't been finished?!?! The carpet at the top of our stairs is literally taped down on the vinyl planks. And they think that is ok. PATHETIC. I would leave 0 stars, but Yelp requires I leave at least one. read more

Abbey Carpet should be ashamed of the way they treat their customers. I requested that an estimate be given for my rental unit. The carpet had to be completed within a week as the new tenant was moving in. I was told at the time that when the measurements were taken, they would give me an estimate the following day. Nothing. I called them and they said an estimate would be given in 2 days. I heard nothing. I hired Carpeteria, they came, measured and gave me an estimate on the spot. Now, over two weeks later, they call and give me an estimate which could be described no better as ridiculous. Don't count on them. read more

I was thoroughly impressed with this company. It took some time to find the correct product, but I ended up paying less than the original estimate. The installers were amazing, took my kitchen floor which is on a concrete slab to the bare floor. My last floor was installed in half the time but, moisture grew under it, which lcontributed to mold forming. I chose a plank floor, looks just like natural wood. I highly recommend this company . I had a plank floor put in my kitchen, entry way and bathroom. I am extremely pleased. The salesmen , Gerry and Canaan,were very helpful finding me the material I wanted. The installation was impressive. the two men removed the old vinyl, and stripped away all the old glue. I had a problem with moisture under the previous floor probably due to sloppy installation. I had laminate/plank that looks like hard wood . I am writing this review because I am am impressed with my new floor!! thank you Abbey !!! read more

We recently had a studio rental apartment at our home carpeted. At first, we were shopping at Home Depot, but for these reasons we decided to look elsewhere: 1) Two weeks for the carpet to arrive once ordered. 3) Prices were a la carte (separate fees for everything from someone to come out and measure, installation, removal of old carpet, etc. etc.) 4) The sales people didn't seem to know what they were talking about and kept giving us conflicting info. So instead we stopped by Abbey's and we are so happy we did. Upon walking in the door we were greeted by Pablo (whom we found out is one of the owners). He was so knowledgeable and extremely helpful in finding the exact carpet and padding we were looking for. Even more, the prices included installation, removal of old carpet, and even tax so there were no hidden fees and we knew exactly what we were paying up front! And Pablo even came out himself to measure the studio for us. Also, the carpet was ordered and installed in a fraction of the time it would've taken Home Depot. Everyone at Abbey's was extremely friendly and helpful and we can't express enough what a wonderful experience it was! We highly recommend them. read more

They helped me find a carpet that was puppy proof and even some matching door rugs. All of them were washable (in case of dog accidents) and really high quality. They were sensitive to the fact that I was a student and worked with me to find something that would look nice and also fit my budget. I would definitely recommend them! read more

Very disappointed in the service and response here. I had new flooring laid in our condo. The work was adequate. There was a door they could not rehang and some quarter round left uninstalled. I had a contractor come and take care of it. They also damaged the finish on two doors and chipped a floor tile in an adjacent room. I spoke with the owner Pablo Gallardo and he said send him an invoice for the undone work. I did this. He not only refused to pay for the contracted work I had to have someone else complete, he refused to pay for the damage his crew did. He cited a clause in his contract that they are not responsible for any damage they cause. LET THE BUYER BEWARE. I would not use this company again or recommend them. read more

They were exceptionally professional, arrived every time just when they said they would, told us our options and made a great recommendation. Abbey's was able to find a really close match to my existing laminate flooring for the rest of my rooms that were carpeted. However, I was pretty disappointed with their customer service. When I intially received the quote I asked the sales guy how long it would take to order flooring and how long it would take to install it. The sales guy told me when if he ordered it by 3 pm he could get it the next day and it would take 3 days to install. He failed to mention that they wouldn't be able to install until 10 business days later which was really frustrating for me when I found this out after I paid the deposit. I wish he had been upfront about that. Additionally, I had also contacted Home Depot who gave me a similar price quote but told me it would take up to 3 weeks before they could install. This was the determining factor of why I chose Abbey's since the price was the same. Second, my dad tried to help me out by removing all the carpet and closet doors so that Abbey's wouldn't charge me. It took him and 2 other guys several hours to take the carpet out of 3 bedrooms and two hallways. Needless to say it was a lot of work. So, you can imagine my shock when I asked Abbey's how much they would credit me for doing all this work and they said only the $50 dump fee would be credited to my bill. My dad, who does a lot of remodeling for his apartment complexes, said it should have been a $500-600 credit easy. I asked the sales guy and even the manager and they were not willing to budge. Very unprofessional. Home Depot charges for everything. I'm sure if I had gone with them they would have deducted an appropriate amount. I should have gone with Home Depot. read more

Gerry was as hardworking and honest as I've ever encountered. Had a renter who thrashed the carpeting and altho we cleaned it multiple times, Gerry said it really shouldn't and couldn't be saved. I respected his professional opinion. He did a great job WAY under budget in getting a new carpet in there and putting the room right. I just had carpet and floors installed by Abbey Carpet City and I could not be more pleased with the job. From the very beginning, they were measured carefully and I was impressed with their attention to detail. The installers were professional and went out of their way to ask questions about how I preferred things. One of them even turned off my toilet when he noticed it was dripping and he could not stop it. They cleaned up after themselves and went out of their way to help me with little details.
