The market place is nestled in the heart of Santa Cruz downtown, which offers a unique experience of a gathering space, food courts, and live music performance. It's crowded over weekend nights, limited street parking and there's public parking garage nearby.

Abbott Square has become one of my go-to spots for lunch when visiting downtown Santa Cruz. The variety makes it easy to grab lunch with a group when you can't all agree on something to eat. Though there isn't a huge variety of restaurants they still seem to have most of the basics covered. There's pizza, coffee, a full bar, a vegan eatery, burgers, and I believe one or two more. Front and Copper, the cocktail bar, is my favorite spot in the the market. Though I usually try a different restaurant, I ALWAYS go to F&C. There's ample seating inside and I usually see someone cleaning the tables when I'm eating there so it is well-kept. They have two sections on tables outdoors, one in the main entrance and one to the side next to the museum. The seating near the museum is a bit more quaint and quiet, however gets a lot of sun. The seating in the front is where most people go so it's a little louder and more crowded and loud.

As soon as I walked in I felt the cozy and lively atmosphere and the scents of all the diverse food wafted upon me. I knew I found a dependable market - perfect for any occasion and cravings. I got pizza from the pizza place, they do half and half which I loved, and my vegetarian family members ordered from the vegetarian place. All the food was great.

Super cute food hall vibes with multiple offering... cheese shop, wine and beer bar, pizza shop, chicken sandwich spot and craft cocktail bar. Definitely grab a glass of wine and hit up the cheese shop for a super reasonable charcuterie board. Highly recommend!

This place is always my go-to recommendation to friends visiting the Santa Cruz downtown (and surrounding) areas. They're drinks from Front & Cooper are remarkably refreshing. The bartenders always seem to make a concerted effort to provide a lounge-like experience in the crafting of cocktails - despite the "order-at-the-counter" status quo. Option to keep the tab open, or pay upon receiving beverage. Cash and card accepted. Some seasonal menu rotations. Cat & Cloud Coffee closes earlier than the other places, unfortunately. Pizza LB is open the latest/longest. Belly Goat Burger is my favorite!! (See photos) Front & Cooper is the token cocktail bar at this spot. Live music on most Saturdays. The Market is a hybrid indoor-outdoor situation. Tables and chairs are all Outdoor seating arrangement. They have a few heat lamps. You bus your own table when finished, if choosing to dine at Market. Right outside the MoMa! All ages eatery; casual, yet chic ambiance - very fun! Free restroom for patrons (there is a door code provided on receipt). Dogs allowed on patio and masks are worn indoors by staff and patrons

Love the casual and fun vibe of this place. Came here before a concert, just what we needed. Drinks and small bites. Recommend.

Nice selection of dining choices. City parking is nearby and inexpensive. The only downside is that the patio seating is really loud.

Great spot!! Read my 2021 review, still the same fantastic gathering place that it was becoming again in 2021. Definitely worth a visit.

I was skeptical about this space at first since it's primarily commercial, but it feels like a part of the community now.

The RED " Parking Meters " along the sidewalks in the downtown shopping district. Just to CLARIFY they are not for paying your parking. They are on the walking part of the sidewalk. I thought this is so great! Not sure if these are in other parts of town. It's a terrific way to donate some of your spare change without wondering what the street person will do with the money! Second - Someone else's comment mentioned this shopping area now known as the Pacific Garden Mall was in place well before the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. So I researched the now defunct Santa Cruz Sentinel that wrote an article celebrating the Pacific Garden Mall's 40 year anniversary back in 2009. YIKES~ being a kid that grew up in Santa Cruz I didn't even know it existed until after I returned from the Air Force in the 70's ...but it is certainly a local and tourist magnet these days, guess it has been for quite some time. Go check it out. great shopping and restaurants only a short distance from the beach and boardwalk!

Becks Shoes 4105 Portola Drive Santa Cruz. The new location is great and accessible from 41st avenue and is in the corner of 41 st Ave and Portola Drive. There is parking in the back and the front of the store is off of Portola Drive. Addison the sales clerk is very knowledgeable and very easy to work with. Not a pushy salesman! He provided his knowledge and patience and helped me select the appropriate superfeet orthotics for my feet to give me comfort and stability to my tennis shoes! He also suggested a certain type of tennis shoe that can provide stability for pronation and supination. He did not push me in buying these new stability tennis shoes. But he actually found some good superfeet insoles for my condition and and stability and comfort for my existing tennis shoes. In the future I will look into buying new tennis shoes that he recommended that I can fit my new superfeet orthotics and provide more stability and comfort! I greatly appreciate his help and easygoing manner and would recommend you stop by the new Becks Shoes store at the above mentioned location. Thank you, Alberto Barba

We walked in here to find food. Unfortunately, the food court only had five different places only two to choose from for food. Unfortunately, the Ramen place was a no go for us. The Taqueria Gabrielle was super good and they do a great job at how much food they put together in their food and prices are well meaning french fries meat, etc. The service was really great at the Taqueria Gabriel they do have a coffee shop here called the daily grind coffee I have to say my favorite place to see here was the bookstore. If you love books definitely drop by. It is huge. It is so nice. You could get lost in there. I really hope the community comes together and makes this place a great place that it can be for all the teenagers and young parents to come and bring their kids and go shopping . Don't forget to check out the thrift store if you're around as well ! Lots of parking and they have tons of bus stops so you're able to come with public transportation and or have plenty of places to park

Attention Costco Shoppers!…read more I have always wanted to say that!:) So who visits Costco when they are on holiday in Santa Cruz? Me! I had a major problem arise with my hearing aid that needed immediate fixing or I would not be able to hear. Though late in the day... almost closing, I called the Hearing Department and left a voicemail asking for a return call regarding my non working, fairly new, hearing aid. (Side note: Having left many voicemails at my local Folsom Costco and rarely getting any sort of response, I was not expecting much from Santa Cruz Costco.) Unbelievably and thankfully, I received a return call the very next morning. And a helpful one. Hallelujah. Hector was very nice and said to come in and he would definitely check it out. Huge relief on my part. People with no hearing issues do not know the panic of not being able to hear. It totally affects one's quality of life. As a child a benign tumor rendered that ear useless. TMI:) Needless to say, I was up immediately and out the door driving across town to the Santa Cruz Costco. Bottom line... Hector was one of the hearing aid techs and the one who did fix my hearing aid. I want to sincerely thank him for his professionalism and friendly customer service. He also gave me some little plastic tools and showed me how to use them should the problem reoccur. Super nice guy. Patient and calm. It was really nice to be able to hear again! Having access to a hearing aid center when out of town is certainly a major benefit of being a Costco member. For such a nominal fee Costco is a super value. But you already knew that. Wherever you are... there might be a Costco nearby to help you too! Thank you, Hector, and Costco!
