There was no line to get inside. But once you get in here you must follow all the rules. First of all no trying on anything no jackets, no hats, no socks, no clothes, no shoes, we just can't try anything whatsoever. Once you get in here the store is pretty much clean. No more kids stuff at all. When I asked about it (what I'm assuming was management) said kid stuff will not be coming back as they made no money off of it. I was told it happend several years ago... the last time I was in the store shopping for my daughter was less than a year ago... when I asked again she insisted its been gone for at least 2 years now.... She was also talking to other staff members pretty rudely. The store looked a bit sparse. If you are above a size 12 there's not a whole lot of options here for you. You will be constantly disappointed when you find something you like because they will likely only have it in stock in XS-S maybe M if you're lucky. The staff is extremely rude and unprofessional and you can tell they don't want to be there (the last part is kinda understandable because I would hate my life if I worked there too). I wouldn't care if they were just unenthused but they're straight up b*tchy. I work in customer service too and that attitude would never fly where I work. I am in general consensus with the other reviews... clean/small store, I often find cute things, but holy shit the employees are RUDE. Writing this because it is my third time coming here and getting attitude from the cashier... Yesterday I went in to return two swimsuits I had ordered online (tags intact, etc. etc.). I chose to do an instore return because its one block from my work and very convenient for me to do on my lunch break. Before ordering these, I confirmed on the checkout page that they were able to be returned. The cashier kept repeating throughout the transaction (in an awkwardly whiney tone) "but like... this is swimwear. you cant return swimwear." I explained I had looked it up ahead of time online, and filled out a form for these two specific items (why would it let me fill out a return form for something non-returnable?) and asked her to show me where it says they aren't refundable. She just said "it says it online" but kept doing the return anyway. Then called out really loudly to a manager(?) and went over and talked to him for a while about it. Just either do it or don't... don't whine at me and make me feel awkward the whole time you are doing the return. Or suggest I return it via mail... I wasn't being insistent, I was not bringing any emotion into the conversation, I just asked her to show me where it says that. (The whole time she is holding my return slip, which says nothing about swimwear, I was reading it while she was doing the return...) Between that and the other experiences, I've had (like a cashier telling me they were signing me up for a store card, telling me "no, its a store card, not a visa" when I questioned the signup form, and then receive a VISA anyway..." I'm giving up on this store and will just stick to shopping (and returning lol) online. read more

What an amazing experience!! I stop here every time I'm in Santa Cruz for vacation and that's pretty often since it's my bf's favorite spot. Today I came in and found a cute cut-out bathing suit in my favorite color. Since I just had a baby 6 months ago and don't workout, I am not the one to show my body to anyone, but I needed an honest opinion and the woman helping me in the dressing room made me feel very comfortable. I showed her a pic of a bathing suit I bought here when on vacation last month and then stepped out of the dressing room in the one I just found. Aiyana immediately said the one I had on looked amazing on me with my skin color. I was so happy and truly believed she was being honest. I encourage anyone who is insecure when trying on clothing, to seek out Aiyana for her opinion as I've never had such a positive experience while clothes shopping, and considering I have stretch marks after having 5 children, that's saying a lot. read more

I am thankful I am not 21 anymore and am not sure who would want to be this age unless you are under 21. Regardless, the little one loves this store and its set up. She found several items in the children's section. She also picked out a few accessories such as hair ties and stuff like that. My own take on it was that customer service was lacking and, since no one was around to help us, I had to pull a jacket off the top rack that I couldn't reach. I used a couple of hangers and knocked it down. I ended up getting two things for $12 and under and accessories for under $5. For those reasons and the fact that the little one was thrilled with the stuff they had...I am a fan. Cheap prices and options for kids make me a fan of this store. They just really need to have employees that are more interactive with the customers. It's likely I would have spent more money. read more

I love Forever 21 because they always carry things that are in style, my taste, and fairly inexpensive. Since coming here for school (UCSC) I've frequented this store for my clothing needs--especially since Santa Cruz doesn't have too many clothing places that I can go to (that is my taste and price range). This Forever 21 is small in size but usually will have something you want if you know how to look. If worse comes to worse visit their online store and have the items shipped to the store/to your home. Always step inside and check out their things though. The reason why I'm writing this review is to give a round of applause for their worker Antonio. (I hope I'm spelling his name correctly) He's always so helpful and tries his hardest to help me find what I need in the size I wear. Probably my favorite retail worker hands down--take a customer service lesson from him. Also, a big shout out to the male cashier (I don't know his name) he's really good at being personal without being too personal when you're being ringed up--great customer service on his part as well. A future UCSC student in the making as well, he has really good taste in college selection. However, I really wish they could find better changing room attendants--the short girl who usually has her hair down and curly, and wears glasses, is always in a bad mood. She rushes you to the room, and just leaves. I feel like she could care less whether or not she's being helpful. This is where Borders used to stand. Well, I'm okay with Borders going out of business, because that means the ma & pa bookstores now have a chance to stay in business again. I don't normally review commercial locations unless I have been inclined so this place gets a review because I liked several things about this location. First off, I liked the tidiness of this store as many F21's can be grade A poop holes. It also had a great selection of items that normally fly at other locations. The cherry on top for me was that my cashier whose name I will edit in later was very friendly for a F21 cashier. This is rare. I have literally had all types of F21 cashiers. The moody manager who could care less about you. The demanding cashier who just wants to get off. The mopey cashier who wishes they were anywhere but here. The annoyed cashier. All of them. The cashier here was a new category I didn't even have. Lots of inventory and seems very clean and nice however the staff always acts annoyed by your presence. They are very stand-offish. I had a staff member do an Audible sigh of annoyance at a question I had yesterday. I understand that customers can be annoying sometimes but she made me feel so stupid. I always shop at forever21 & yes they do not have the best customer service in the world.. but i don't come there for the people .. i just come for the clothes. After glancing over my receipt .. i didn't get the price I was told. They rung up the top for $13.99 so I brought it back and asked about it again. After sometime I was told that they made a mistake & that it really should be 13.99 .. so i said ok well you guys made a mistake.. I didn't. I asked the lady named Nathania to fix it for me .. she spoke to her manager Sarah, the blonde girl and told her that she could not help us. Since it was a sale item there was no way that I can get my money back or fix the problem. I was with a friend that day .. and he was really upset at how they were acting. So he did most of the talking for me. He said no .. thats not right you guys need to fix this. Nathania gave us ATTITUDE ... which of course made extremely furious by this time. The floor manager, Sarah did not even bother to come and speak to us.. she just kept telling the other girl what to say. Afte my friend said NO thats not ok.. give me a manager to talked to, they made us wait another 5 mins just standing there.. the General manager Jen finally came out. She apologized for everything... and she was really sweet and fixed everything for us. it's not the $2 that i was upset about .. it was the principal.. the business made a mistake now fix it.. .don't tell me BOOHOO and that's too bad, I have to take the loss. NEVER again will I come back at this location for sure. I really wish that forever 21 made their customer service better at every establishment. Worst customer service ever. I shop at this f21 because it is the closest to me and never have I received such terrible service. And it wasn't just one time, it's all the time I walk into that store. The manager is awfully sweet and helpful, but she needs to make sure to hire people who are the same as well. Her cashiers are terrible. This is a new location and one of the nicer ones we've seen. Some locations are huge but messy and crowded feeling. This one was clean, clothes were nicely displayed and not all over the floors or messy. Could be that the store is new but it was very refreshing. It had many items we hadn't seen in others. I've been to plenty of Forever 21's in my day and this one is great! If you like fashion-forward, affordable, okay-quality clothing, then this is definitely the BEST place to go. It's like the other Forever 21's around with lots of lighting, marble floors, & new-age "groovy" music. What sets this one apart is the size & selection! I'm am writing a review for F21 Santa Cruz where I work as a cashier soley for the purpose of apologizing to any and all customers that have ever felt uncomfortable or offended by anything I've said during my time here. I have always tried my hardest to make every experience as pleasant, fast and personal as possible. Though it would se that some people have been less than satisfied with my performance and I would like nothing more than to learn from this so that I can serve everyone with the respect and personal care they deserve. Often I'll inquire into the meaning of someone's surname if its of particular interest to me, most commonly tourist from out of state or even country. My vision requires that I wear corrective lenses in the form of both contact lenses and glasses. While I am helping a customer purchase their items my eyes are often lowered, directed at a screen under the surface of the register. While my attention shifts from the screen to the customer may been interpreted from an outside standpoint as inappropriate, I can only say that I would never intentionally offend or disrespect someone by objectifying them while trying to assist them in our world class Forever 21. And though I would like to think I try to steer the conversations in an appropriate direction for each individual customer, it's more than possible for me to be over bearing on occasion and would simply ask that if at any point during your experience with myself that you inform me so that i may correct myself and improve. I value my customers feelings and would like to do whatever in my power to make sure that everyone leaves our amazing store with nothing less than an extremely flattering outfit, a positive attitude and an ultra contagious smile! I've been to many Forever 21's (because I am a broke college student who still needs clothes), and this one is the cleanest thus far. It's smaller than most; however, they manage to filter out the weirder things (think items that are cute... until you find the writing on the back that says "i Want Tacos" or something) and present the cleaner, sophisticated, and fun styles. I wish their lingerie section was bigger, and the men's and children's sections are small. Their shoe section is also limited, but they have great boots. You will definitely find at least one item you love in here. read more

This is a pretty big Forever 21 store that has the usual giant women's section, a men's section, accessories, sale, and even a kid's section. I've never seen a kid's section in a Forever 21 store before so that's pretty cool. Like all the Forever 21s, it's got cute clothes and cheap prices. I just didn't happen to find anything I liked this day, typical girl problems, having a "I'm fat in everything" day. Went in to buy an outfit for the night. Forgot my server booklet in the changing room with my pay stub and $360 cash. Went back for it and they "had just cleaned the dressing room and didn't see anything". When I asked the manager to look on the tapes he said it was hard to see once I started picking up clothes, but that I set it on the athletic table. I never went to the athletic table, the manager was covering his employees ass. This staff is extremely unprofessional and thieves. I will never shop here again. I will not shop here ever AGAIN. I usually shop online but decided to go in and get some clothes for work one item had tag said large when i got home and looked at the stuff the paper tag they tag it with said large but the neck tag said medium. I went in to exchange it and because it was final sale they were not able too i said but its not my fault u label it wrong the cashier went on to tell me she couldnt as i was walking out i seen the same item in the large again i went and said really their is no way then she goes on to tell me no because its like stealing and her inventory will be off. I work in customer service i know ur able to do the exchange because ur inventory is already off u label it as a medium not a large. The way she said its like stealing girl bye the transits here in santa cruz steal way too often for u to tell me my one item is going to mess up ur inventory. I myself aren't a guy but you might want to take into consideration how tiny the male department is. I know most forever 21 stores have this issue but some actually expand it to at least one room not a closet size. Its like might as well not put any male clothes. I shop here quite often and the customer service is pretty good. I wish they had more graphic tees and I wish the lingerie/sleepwear was a lot bigger.. This store mostly has a lot of basic clothes such as tanks, leggings and pencil skirt and tons of jewelry (not a huge fan). and I feel like this store focuses on a particular style. I thought it should be more universal. Not every person has the same taste in clothes. I, myself am a more rock n roll type of chick. Big fan of Forever 21 in general and tend to purchase my stuff from them online, but this location is nice and close so I'll occasionally pop in if I'm nearby. Always manage to find cute, affordable things here, and it's generally pretty tidy and well-organized. The shoe section is a bit cramped and can get a tad messy, but otherwise the store's in good order. I've never received any attitude from the staff there and everyone has seemed helpful. However, I was once overcharged for an extra pair of shorts when I swapped them out, (I had mistakenly grabbed the wrong size and quickly ran back to replace them with the right size) and despite saying she had taken it off and replaced it with the right size, the cashier charged me twice. That was a bit unpleasant since I had specifically asked her to make sure to cancel the wrong-sized pair from my purchase. Luckily, I was able to call the store when I got home and noticed this on my receipt, and the manager was happy to refund me when I came in the next day, so I appreciated that. All in all I would recommend this location, just double-check your receipt before leaving if you bought numerous items or put anything back. read more

This place is a corporation and it shows... If you're expecting good quality customer service, just keep on walking. This place does NOT offer good quality customer service, and lacks any kind of organization. The air-headed customer service representatives will come up to you and ask you the standard: "do you need any help?". You will then ask for a particular item. 1 out of 10 times they will find it. The rest of the time they will vaguely point towards a remote corner of the store and say: "I think it's in the blabla department." Honey, if you ask me if I need help, then maybe you should directly walk me to the particular kind of item I'm looking for.... DUH. The only nice people working there are the girls working as fitting room attendants. If you're a frugal woman looking for a passable pair of jeans ASAP this is the place to go. The key is to barge in with your music earphones, find the generic item you're looking for (i.e. jeans), your size, select the jeans, try them, like them, buy them, and leave. I love the clean and openness of the store. Also, the location is perfect being right in the downtown area. One thing I have to say is that I wish they had somewhat of a plus size section but hey, can't win 'em all. I would like to complement a few of the workers. One in particular, I believe her name was Avalon. I came in a few days ago looking for some dresses and shirts that would fit me(because a lot of the clothes are a bit more petite than others) and she hand picked a few different items out that would work best for my body type. She definitely knew what she was doing because everything she had picked worked perfectly. When I went to the fitting room, the girl working greeted me with a smile and graciously brought me to a room. I applaud the customer service I received. When I was ready to make my purchase I was glad to see that Avalon was my cashier as well. Her amazing services continued as she began ringing me up. She made sure to tell me about the return policy (one of which I do not agree with) and she was even kind enough to fold all of my new clothing. Most cashiers just throw things in the bag just to get you out of there. I really appreciate the time taken and the fact that she made my experience personable. I thank her for that. A F21 would open in Santa Cruz a few months after I graduated and moved back home. It would have been perfect for those times I needed to find a last minute going-out outfit or something more laid-back for class...but obviously with my luck that wouldn't be the case. I visited my friend in SC and insisted he take me to the new F21. He wasn't very pleased but somehow I got him to come with me. The location isn't as large as I hoped. It's only one floor which was a let down, but it offers a great selection of clothes. I loved how each section how a distinct style and it wasn't jumbled and messy like other locations I have been to. I also love that they have a large shoe and accessory area and have a small section for F21 men. If I'm ever back in Santa Cruz this F21 is definitely added to my list of places to shop in DTSC along with Urban Outfitters and Sway. read more
