So basically, this part of Main Street is candy central. Maybe these guys decided to team up, and figured that a rising tide lifts all boats. The Candy Emporium seems to have more commercial and old-fashioned candies than the other place. They also seem to get nasty with the licorice here, and in particular, black licorice. OK! I won't let you know my opinion about black licorice, those murdered-out pieces of vile rubber, because I don't want to yuck your yum. But if you are a black licorice fan, this is your place. They have bulk chocolates by the pound here (minimum 1/8 pound), plus lots of packaged candies -- everything from Starbursts to Laffy Taffy to Razzles and Necco Wafers. The price points range from 10 cents to much higher, so you can bring a kid here with some pocket change, and they'll be able to get a little treat.

I should have bought more, much more. She tried a Mud Ball for the first time and loved it. Of course we had to pick up some milk chocolate and dark chocolate caramels as well. Martinsville Candy Kitchen is a popular destination when in the downtown area. Right now you can watch the new addition being built onto the old courthouse and see the renovations taking place. The entire city block is undergoing a dramatic change from what it used to be right across the street from the Candy Kitchen.
