We have adopted 2 dogs now from PPR! Both were puppies when we adopted them. The oldest one is now 12 and the baby will be 2 in March. We will be adopting another in the near future. Other family members of mine have also rescued all of their babies from PPR. PPR does a wonderful job with their application process. I felt very good knowing they spend so much time making sure these sweet babies are going to people who will care and love them. Most of these dogs come from a place where they were abused, abandoned, neglected, and worse. PPR rescues these babies and pays for all of the medical expenses to make sure they are ready to go to a new, safe, and loving home. I could not say enough about this rescue. Enjoy these pics of some very sweet PPR babies (aka my fuzzy children)!

I have never had anything but a great experience with Poodle and Pooch. I have adopted two of my fosters and couldn't be happier with this rescue. While reading the reviews it saddens me to see the review written in March. This rescue saves countless numbers of dogs every year from one to 20 or more at a time. The adoption fees don't go in anyone's pocket, the amount of Vet care and food is extraordinary and yet they keep on saving lives. If you want an animal of course there should be rules so they don't have to be returned. The adoption fees are very fair and help for the next one in need. Everyone is a volunteer, most with jobs and families to care for yet they make the time to help. With so many animals needing homes it is wonderful to know that this rescue cares so much.

Our newest family member. Thank you Poodle and Pooch.

I love the very concept of this company. Saving loving / caring animals from shelters, and putting them with fosters, and then screening applicants prior to even having them meet the animal. I love this over the shelters and other nearby facilities. With those, it helps save you the aggravation of driving all the way to a shelter only to find that all the small breeds have already been adopted. We just adopted a 3 year old terrier mix after using Poodle and Pooch, and in the end it was a pleasant experience. The staff was awesome, the foster family seemed nice. We got plenty of info and paperwork, and the dog is a perfect fit for our family.

The facility and the dogs were dirty, and the smell was overwhelming. No reputable rescue should be keeping animals in that kind of environment. They also charge a non-refundable appointment fee just to schedule a visit. While they say it goes toward the adoption fee, it still feels like a red flag, especially when you see the condition the animals are in. What's even more concerning is the contract. It requires puppies to be spayed or neutered by 6 months with no exceptions. We were told by multiple veterinarians that this is not always safe, especially for certain dogs whose growth plates are not fully developed. Early spay/neuter can lead to long-term health issues, but there was absolutely no willingness to consider what was best for the individual dog. Instead of focusing on the animals' well-being, there seems to be a heavy focus on strict enforcement and control. The overall experience felt more intimidating than supportive. Another major concern is how criticism is handled. Anyone who shares a negative experience is met with aggressive, defensive responses rather than accountability. That alone should be a red flag. There are many reputable shelters and rescues out there that truly prioritize the health and well-being of their animals. Please consider adopting elsewhere.

On September 9th, my family adopted two kittens, Aren and Delle, from this rescue. We were told they had recently recovered from an upper respiratory infection and were now healthy. Unfortunately, less than a month later, our sweet Delle passed away on October 10th from FIP -- a fatal illness that likely developed from an infection that hadn't fully resolved. We followed all the recommended vet care and sought immediate treatment the moment she showed signs of illness, but despite every effort, she declined quickly. It was a deeply traumatic and heartbreaking experience for our family -- and for Aren, her sister, who is now grieving as well. I want to make it clear that I deeply understand and appreciate the mission behind animal rescues and the challenges they face in caring for so many animals in need. My intention in sharing this isn't to criticize, but to hopefully encourage more thorough medical reviews and communication before adoption. Even small improvements in diligence could help prevent another family from being blindsided by such a devastating situation. I emailed the rescue on October 11th, not in anger but simply to inform them of what happened. Unfortunately, I never received a response. Delle was deeply loved and is deeply missed. I truly hope that sharing her story leads to positive changes for future adoptions -- and to more happy, healthy forever homes.

Susan was incredibly helpful with answering any emails I sent and was very responsive. This was my first time fostering and it was on a Saturday morning that I saw some puppies needed a foster, so I did not have any pet supplies at home on hand the same day. They provided me with everything I needed and even toys and food for the puppies. I purchased some more toys and pee pads to donate back to the shelter one I returned the pups. After two weeks they were much bigger and ready to be adopted! I returned them back to Susan at the shelter and I was so happy I did it and plan to foster again. They are a fantastic organization and I highly recommend going to the Orlando Pet Alliance if you are looking to adopt a dog or cat. They are a great organization if you are looking to become a foster as well. Adopt, don't shop!

I want everyone to READ THIS REVIEW before taking your pet here!!!!!!…read moreI took my dog to this clinic few years ago for spaying. There was a chaos in that office. Front desk was very unfriendly and unorganized. This facility is running by bunch of careless Indian and some Asian doctors who absolutely don't care for animals. All they think about is $$$$$! That's all. They're so careless that didn't budge when their facility got in fire and a lot of animals died in fire. These Indian doctors just think about money, not the welfare of animals. They tried in anyways they could to charge me for unnecessary stuff that my dog didn't need. Since then I take my dogs to another clinic. The doctor told me that when the dogs get their first year vaccine including rabies, they don't need anymore vaccines because their body gets immune for the rest of their lives like humans get vaccines in childhood and their body is protected for their whole life. He said additional vaccines will hurt their health especially rabies!!!! Most doctors tell you to give your dog yearly vaccines because they make money out of that. He also said: do not neuter or spay till your pet is 1 year and a half old because they need their hormones to grow healthy. So DO NOT GIVE YOUR PET UNNECESSARILY VACCINES especially in this careless clinic!!!!

They threw in once we paid $7,000 that she had a "minor" surgery on her lower stomach (inguinal hernia repair) and that it was common. This information wasn't disclosed to us prior to our interest in taking her home. None the less, we took her home with us (back to upstate NY) where she developed more issues her first few days home. She had a upper respiratory infection, and her sutures were probing inside her stomach.. causing to open up and bleed. These were never removed and/or were we given after care instructions. Luckily we have an amazing vet here who helped us with everything. She had 1 visit to the after hours urgent care.. along with various other nights we considered taking her. She has been in and out of the vet. THEN, ever since she had been home she had coughing, sneezing, kennel cough, loose stools, as well as a UTI.. which as of yesterday.. we were told lab results showed a bacterial infection.. that we've tried to treat but the antibiotic did not fight it. As vet bills have added up every week, as dog owners know can be extremely expensive.. we will do what we can to make sure she is back to normal health.. which she may have never been coming from that place. Our vet is now reaching out to Cornell Medical for further advice. We have had nothing but problems with our poor puppy and pray for good health but would NOT recommend purchasing a puppy from this business. ANYONE who is willing or able to forward this to anyone with authority that can close this place down and put an end to how they treat and handle these poor puppies I highly encourage you do.

After approving our application and after I personally spent over 30 minutes meeting the dogs, they insisted that my partially disabled wife travel a 2.5‑hour round trip so a medically untrained volunteer could "evaluate" whether she might fall on a dog. That person would then report their impressions to a committee for final approval. I am fully mobile and would be the primary caregiver for the dogs. My wife simply wanted companionship. No other rescue in our 20 years of adopting dogs has ever required this kind of intrusive and medically unqualified assessment, nor have they refused to offer reasonable accommodation such as a home visit. This process effectively penalizes disabled applicants and creates barriers that are unnecessary, inappropriate, and discriminatory in practice. For an adoption fee of $600, adopters deserve a respectful, professional, and accommodating process. Until they revise these policies or offer a reasonable alternative, this review stands. Apparently the concept of service or companion animals for the elderly or partially handicapped is beyond the capacity of this rescue. They will claim that they just want to protect the animal while providing unqualified and a harshly judgemental attitude toward the human client.
