I am a real and recent customer here (3/10-3/15 2017). Never met KEITH before and found him through Craig's List. Having an electro/mechanical background/career, I can vouch Keith is the real deal. I insisted to work on the boat while he was there and he had no problem having me around. This is my first boat and it came with a bad motor among other broken parts. I bought a second motor prior to finding Keith and he made sure I had a good transom before swapping it out, mounted the motor, rebuilt the motor water pump system (Thank God after he showed me the wore out parts) verified and connected the electrical (Merc 150 to a Merc 135 direct injected), changed the steering from the original mechanical dual cable system to a hydraulic system that came with my 2nd motor, bled/primed the new steering system, identified a broken throttle controller, found a cracked key switch housing that could have left me and my family stranded who knows where, cleaned up a lot of loose electrical, replaced a bad prime bulb, replaced old and leaking fuel lines, fixed a leaking hydraulic tilt system, cleaned, inspected and lubricated critical seals and shafts, verified the proper operating temp once he got the engine running and ensured the cooling system was operating within spec.(with a temp gun), replaced a bad fuel pump and a bad fuel separator and verified the oil injection system was operational. I can specify all of these items because I took notes and watched him do it in person. Aside from all the mechanical and electrical repairs, Keith took the time and taught me critical maintenance tasks that will prevent costly engine damage and so many other pointers and tips only an experienced boater and mechanic would know; it blew MY mind and I have a strong mechanical background. He insisted to use only factory quality parts (at 1st I disagreed with) and though I felt at first I didn't want to spend the money, he explained the risk of what would occur if I chose to go cheap. I have a wife and child I plan to spend a lot of time on the boat with and it wasn't a tough decision to spend a little more money for assurance given the disasters that can happen on the water. I feel so fortunate to have crossed paths with Keith, I feel confident in taking my boat out on the water and know I will not be stranded from a failed motor, mechanical or electrical issue. You can't place a value on trust, honesty or genuine care and I feel comfortable saying Keith has all of these values. I have decided to provide this review because I feel that if I can help just one person find a worthy resource with Kieth in a limited and expensive business, then maybe that will come back to me when I need it again. I was in the hunt for a mobile mechanic, it took a LOT of time, it was depressing to find out how EXPENSIVE they all are (which Keith is the lowest cost at $95/hr), what limitations most of them have (what they are willing to repair) or significant MINIMUMS all of them require (except Keith) and the amount of wait time you'd have if you decided to have one of the shops take your boat in. Mine was done in the comfort of my driveway within days not weeks and Keith had every tool he needed never having to leave to buy things - he came prepared and no excuses. Just as a note, I took my boat (literally drove it there) to a highly reviewed mechanic in Alviso ($120/hr) and spoke with 6 other mechanics from SF to Brentwood and none of them gave me the time, explanation, information or comfortable gut feeling as Keith. I decided no way would I leave my boat in a place where I couldn't see when it was being worked on or what was being done. Been there done that with the cars and not getting ripped off on a boat repair where anything could be made up. After having Kieth spend 3 days working on my boat in my front driveway fixing all the critical problems I had, I got to know him and I could not recommend a better person nor mechanic. Again he blew my mind with his knowledge and experience, his organization with taking notes on what he needed, completed, ordered, cleanliness, ect. He is a boat owner himself (got to see pics of his boat), so he not only does the mechanical work, but provides the real life understanding of what it takes to be a responsible boat owner. He has established a realistic foundation for me in what to expect (cost and maintenance wise) of this new hobby/lifestyle that I hope to enjoy for years to come with my family and friends fishing, tubing and exploring. It's damn expensive, so you best buddy up with a good trustworthy mechanic. I suggest do your research well. I wish I could post pics of the work he did because the work would speak for itself. I cannot thank him enough for what he did on my boat and taught me personally. Whoever wrote the bad review, wrote lies and I can say that from my personal experience as a customer. Hi,Yelpers My friend rob b told me about this site after I turned him on to K&W marine and said it was the least I could do..I agree..keith come over on time and took my drive off after a couble checks and showed me the problem,and my optains...came back three days later with the right parts and fixed the issue (gimble bearing) and I'm up and running again...he also has the coolest dog I ever met...he made some great suggestion's about the radio,light's and a wireing I had never thought about..If your looking for a honest,smart,knowageable boat guy? Keith came over and diagnosed my boat problem fast !! he rebuilt all six carbs on my 2000 225 Yamaha outboard.. it started right up and idled like a kitten...SWEET !! then he found and fixed a electrical issue that I have had three shops attempt to fix..This guy deserves 10 stars,,,got some great advice and repair..took boat out for a test ride and she ran like a tiger..good boat mechanic and electrical guy with lots experience.
