Had a crack in my surfboard that seemed to be spreading so I figured I'd get it fixed. My friend recommended me to this place so I texted the owner. He said I could drop off my board that day but I ended up bringing it in later that week. It was fixed in a little over a week! I think it depends on how bad the ding is and how many other boards they have to repair. Great service - I didn't even remember which side had the ding- couldn't see where it was. read more

Really poor communication akin to asking some great favor from a friend. I came here because I was told they are the local resource thinking I could get an expert to look at my ding and get it resolved in 3 days. They told me they are 4 weeks booked out. 2.5 months later with no call about a quote my board is suddenly ready. I just drove an hour to pick it up because Google says you're open, and you're seriously not here? I don't think they want any more customers. You are completely on their timeline and they cant seem to lift a finger to post their availability for your convenience. For gods sakes just turn people away so they can get it solved elsewhere. You took so damn long I literally bought a new board. read more

They gave me a couple screws for my fins at no charge, and they explained how I could do small repairs myself, at home. I will go back to them for all of my future dings! They did a beautiful job. Felix and his team ROCK! They've worked on all of my boards whether traditional glass and foam or epoxy their awesome. If you want it done right have them do it. WAY WORTH IT. He's also a real great guy and will tell you straight if it's not worth spending the money to fix up a junk board or to sacrifice it at a bonfire. P.S. Sand Dollar Ding Repair does an awesome job, drop your board off at Freeline surf shop on 41st Ave and they will pick it up, call you with an estimate, and drop off when completed. Broken boards,broken fins or tiny fractures all with color matching, they do it all. does a prety good restoration on collector boards also. read more

Alright, so the chunk out of my board pissed me off. It happens, but this was supposed to be my "nice"one. Anyway, dropped it off at the 41st St O'neil shop after I had been surfing it with some epoxy resin to cover the gash. Felix called me with a quote, told me he would do his best to match the color, and I just got it back today. Amazing work!! Buffed and polished it out, and you really have to know where to look to find where the work was done. read more

Felix did a great job with my SUP, and asked for a very fair and reasonable fee for work. My fin box was dislodged from my Lahui Kai board when I drove it into a garage!!!! My heart was broken, but Felix came highly recommended and I was grateful. He fixed it to good as new! read more

I've been meaning to write this review for a while, but I have been quite busy. I recently moved to Santa Cruz from NYC and lugged along my water-logged, dinged up long board. Someone recommended Sand Dollar for repairs and they did an amazing job. Not only was my clunker of a board rideable again, it only cost me $50! Be prepared to leave your board for a couple of weeks, but it is well worth the wait. It is nice to know a good repair shop that doesnt rip people off! read more

Owner Felix is very knowlegable of his trade. I had like 6 areas on my Paragon Fish surfboard that needed attention and Felix kindly went through all problem areas with me (he also complimented on my Fish surfboard, saying its White colour rimmed with Turquoise blue is beautiful. Thank you Sir !!). The board repair shop is home to tons of boards and on the wall are some of Felix's amazing photographies. One featured a lily field directly under a starry lit night with the MiIky Way Galaxy as the backdrop. I was told by Felix that interested customers may purchase his photography, and they are stunningly beautiful. The surfboard shop's name is quite cute, named "Sand Dollar", which is a type of Marine invertebrate that lies on the soft sand. Sand Dollar represents internal strength and nautical yearnings, and quite an appropriate name for the little shop that fix what's broken and make them stronger & better. I would definitely stop here if I need repairs again, and it was a pleasure talking with Felix on various subjects. read more

These guys do the best work around. There's a reason why they do the lions share of the work in the area. But if you are the type to get your panties in a bunch because it's not done in a week then you might want to go somewhere else, fix it yourself or drop a few extra bucks to move your board to the front of the line. But if you have been surfing a while you have a quiver,get used to another board from it for 2 or 3 weeks and wait. Felix and his crew are surfers so it's best to drop off your board during a long flat spell. That's pretty much how all dig repair shops are. They're living the dream. Great bunch of guys. read more

I live in Pacific Grove and was recommended by "On the Beach" to take my board to Sand Dollar. I called ahead of time and made an appointment to bring my board to their shop the next day. "We'll be here all day", they said. Almost an hour drive to their location, I arrived at 10 am. The doors were open, lights were on, but no one was there. I waited for an hour and nobody showed up. I called and left 2 messages asking if anyone was going to show, but there was no response and nobody ever showed up. I talked to the people in the woodshop next door and they said, "Yea, they do this all the time. Good luck." I left and never went back. They wasted my whole morning and about $30 worth of gas and they NEVER returned my calls. Stay away. Take your board to anybody but these losers who care nothing about wasting potential customers' time and money. read more

Skilled, professional and down right nice guys, Felix and his crew are dedicated and deliver unbeatable work in a short amount of time. I have been bringing my boards to them for years and have always been stoked with the quality of the work as well as the cost. They have been accommodating with meeting times and have always returned my voicemails promptly. I have had them repair a snapped longboard, completely rebuild the tail of a fish, fixed all manner of buckles and delaminations...and every board has come back in perfect working order. Felix is a genuinely nice guy who took the time to listen to me and recommend repair options. I'm just a kook with a beat-up board yet he made me feel like I was his most important customer. He is very welcoming and friendly in an understated authentic way. Him and his team repair board for Pros and collectors but they also do basic repair for the average Joe. They are known to be the best in the Monterey Bay area so they're busy. It took several weeks to fix my board (the repair was extensive) but he told me up front how long it would take and the board was ready when promised. I'm not usually one to give bad reviews but I had some terrible service w/ sand dollar. Do not be fooled. Their base rate is $40 even though their sign-in sheet suggests that their rates are as low as 25. Went in to get a VERY small ding repaired just to make sure it would be done by a professional, and no one called me. After I called them countless times it wasn't until they actually were in the process of repairing that they contacted me to tell me a ding that was 1/4 inch would cost me $60. I immediately asked them to stop, and they were pretty rude. Left a huge hole in my board that I ended up fixing myself. Sorry, but this was my experience. read more
