This is a follow up to my previous review of Clickaway. I was never able to get my Microsoft word program up & going after being informed by MS that I had to "activate" my account, which I wasn't able to do. Lawrence, who has always been helpful in the past, gave me an 800 number to call (which disconnected after a long speech not related to my issue. He also sent me a copy of my receipt which I already have. He told me I would need my passkey and as much info as possible if & when I finally reached a human, which I was never able to do despite repeated attempts. I also received a somewhat condescending response to my review from the owner, Thomas Sutherland. I teach a writing class and depend on this software so after 3 weeks of getting nowhere, I finally surrendered & hired a tech guy to check out the problem, at $120 an hour. Within one minute he saw that the Word program I bought from Clickaway 5 years ago is now obsolete....clearly not Clickaway's issue and I'm surprised Microsoft can get away with that (but not really). I had to buy the newest Word version ($99) to remedy the issue and now all is well. However, it still bothers me that I had to pay a non-Clickaway employee $120 to diagnose the problem. This is not an AI issue and frankly, I'm surprised that Clickaway wasn't aware of this. Lawrence mentioned that many MSoft customers were having problems as well. Hopefully Mr, Sutherland will read this post & understand the problem better now. Sadly it appears that Clickaway is somewhat out of touch--being in the dark, unaware of the issues Word customers face with the former program, bought & installed by Clickaway. I'm surprised as I've always considered the employees at this company nothing short of geniuses. My sense now is that Clickaway is falling behind the times--again nothing to do with AI. That being said, Clickaway is a good company and frankly, the best, if not the only game in this beach town, to address major computer issues-- especially with apple products. I've bought 2 Macs from the company in the past and always relied on them when I had an issue. But this was not a good experience and I am still disappointed with how it was handled. read more

Lawrence did a great job setting up my new MacBook that I had bought online and took time with me after it was ready to answer lots of questions in a friendly, knowledgeable way. Work included checked the old Mac for malware or other problems before transferring info, cleaned up old stuff (duplicates and old apps, etc) -- all the things that are good to do but I don't really know how and don't want to go through the pain of learning. Have taken in a PC to get fixed twice and my phone once, they managed to do it quickly and at a reasonable price. Same with family who I've reccomended this place to. They don't try to upsell you on things and are very knowledgeable and trustworthy. We have had several interactions with ClickAway following MULTIPLE experiences with other IT individuals and companies, some highly recommended. After being disappointed (and finding out that even those who claimed to be knowledgable about Apple products were confounded by even simple problems), we decided to try ClickAway. Click Away has saved the day three times for computer recovery, cell phone repair and most recently a slideshow. Angel Guzman created the most incredible slideshow for my husband's retirement. I initially began the process with a company on the east coast and came to Click Away for help as I was extremely frustrated and unhappy with the company I was working with. I didn't realize Click Away created slideshows, or I would have come here first! Angel immediately helped me figure out the problem that was causing my photo library to become mixed up over and over again after spending many hours over several days putting photographs in chronological order. He very patiently explained what the cause was and immediately fixed it. The other company was puzzled by how this was happening.
