Our daughter has been enrolled here for the last two years and has had a wonderful experience. I really appreciate how much her teachers care about her, how passionate they are about the kids and how easy they are to talk to if anything comes up. Considering the facilities and that it is a professionally run preschool and daycare center, I do think they provide great value. Our daughter will be attending TK and the fact that the preschool is right next door to Castro Valley Elementary is extremely convenient as they handle both pickup and drop-off. Our daughter was at ABC Preschool for her first four years in Castro Valley, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. This place really felt like home to her and to us. She grew so much while she was there. The teachers are warm and caring, and you can tell they really love what they do. It was always so nice to be see their arts and crafts hung up right by the front door so that you could see what they had worked on recently. I also thought it was awesome that they spoke Spanish to her. I've struggled to keep that going at home, so it meant a lot to know she was learning and practicing at school without me even being there. The school also did a bunch of family events that we loved. Daddy and Me was always a favorite because we got to come in, watch the kids perform, and do crafts together. They also put on fun things for the holidays, like Halloween and Christmas, where the kids got to celebrate and we could be part of it too. It was great watching her play with her friends and have her show me all her favorite places to play in the outdoor play area. The hours were always great so if you're a working parent you have that peace of mind that you know your kids are taken care of so you can focus on work. We're really thankful for the time our daughter had at ABC Preschool. She made great memories, learned so much, and we always felt like she was in the right place. ABC Preschool has been a great school for our 4 year old. He has been attending for 2 years and flourishing in the environment. The staff has been amazingly helpful with potty training, which he mastered last year. My child comes home excited to share the art and projects he worked on that day. Communication is great- there's a monthly newsletter where parents learn about the focus of the month. It's also right next to CVE which makes drop off super convenient for my other kids going there. We have had our daughter at this preschool for over a year now. It has been a wonderful experience. The staff and owner are so very kind and flexible with my daughter's outside class schedule. They are attentive to all the children and their individual needs. My duaghter has blossomed in their care, going from being very shy and not talking much a year ago to now, where she is talkative, assertive, and engaging in classroom activities. She comes home everyday with a smile on her face and completed class projects to show me (crafts, drawing, painting, etc.). I feel like I need to warn other parents about ABC. If you are reading positive reviews from before 2022, they are about the school when Ms Tansy was the director. Ownership has changed. Both our kids went to ABC when Ms Tansy was the director, and we had a generally positive, good experience. But a few months before our youngest went to kindergarten, Ms Tansy retired and sold the school to Ms Anu. In the months we were there with Ms Anu as director we had several negative experiences. She was generally inflexible, unfriendly, and profit-focused. But we had one incident where her conduct was completely unacceptable. We had a very scary incident that happened at the school and our kid potentially needed medical care as a result. We reached out to her, needing a rapid response to help figure out exactly what had happened at school. She was defensive, argumentative, slow to respond, and clearly more focused on protecting herself than helping us keep our child safe. I was shocked that she was spending time arguing and defending herself, rather than quickly providing us vital information in what literally could have been a life and death situation. In my opinion, this is unacceptable behavior when the health and safety of kids is concerned. As a parent it was infuriating to feel like our caregiver was not on our side in trying to protect our child. Afterwards we emailed her about our concerns around the way she'd handled it and she never responded in any way. Sadly, I feel an obligation to warn other parents about this school now. read more

My son spent the past a year in ABC and he is happy there. He made friends and learnt spanish! When we moved to Castro Valley about 2 years ago, we were on the waiting list for a couple of local daycare and since ABC has an opening last July, we got in. They are not very large comparing to BH that we previously went and the facility is just ok. But the teachers are great and my son particularly loves Teacher Maria and also teacher Emily, who can speak mandarin! They also have paid EC that includes science acitivities and soccor/gymnastic. We moved to Castro Valley about a year ago and were lucky to have found ABC Preschool. My daughter, Amira, loved the school, the teachers, and the friends she made there. She graduated from ABC Preschool last month, and while she's excited to go to kindergarten, she misses her friends and teachers and still talks about them a lot. Very reasonably priced excellent daycare with good hours for working parents. My son and daughter both went here, had lots of friends, and came home happy every day. They have plenty of outdoor playtime and learned to be very independent little people here. You do not need to be potty trained to register at this school which is a huge plus. Teachers were also great at preparing my kids for preschool by teaching them how to write their name, numbers, and letters. Thanks for taking care of my children ABC. read more

My son started going to ABC as soon as he turned two, and today is his last day there before Kindergarten. It really is bittersweet- on one hand, we are so excited to start on our new adventure but on the other hand, we are sad to be leaving ABC! My child loves her preschool, and she is thriving. That means the most to me as a parent. The teachers are all very attentive, and they know my daughter and her quirks. They bring a variety of activities on site for the kids. Ms. Tansy keeps parents informed with regular monthly newsletters about the goings on at the school, which I greatly appreciate. Everyone truly loves my girl here. Since the elementary school is next door traffic is high and parking limited during drop off and pick up time but that hasn't been an issue for me. And nobody can just walk in to the school, so security controls are in place. They are very vigilant about who is coming and going. I have been delighted with the preschool and daycare programs at ABC. When my son started this fall, I was concerned about how he'd handle the transition from an in-home daycare. It was a smooth transition, largely because of the great relationships the teachers there built with him. He has a great time, and comes home every day singing new songs and telling us about the latest art projects he's worked on. The staff have that right mix of having lots of energy while remaining laid back and patient in their dealings with the kids. And they were incredibly helpful with potty-training! The staff at ABC are energetic, creative, fun and very engaging with the kids. My school age son has attended the summer session and it was packed with fun field trips and themed activities every week. He had a great time! My daughter is in the pre-school program and she looks forward to going to class each time...The program is very flexible and accommodating as well. You don't want to take your child here! Trust me, this is the messiest and dirtiest place I've seen. Teachers and babysitters didn't do anything but chit chatting. I saw 1-2 of them there to watch like 30 kids. They let the kids play by themselves all times inside and outside. Everywhere is dirty and disgusting. They put small rocks and black dust on the playground area which was all over my daughter face, clothes, mouth, nose, ears.... you name it! I took my daughter there for 2 days and I couldn't stand seeing her playing with the dirt and nobody doing anything! They said "oh she's fine ". I had to clean her for 30 minutes in the bath and the water was black! Like she had been working in the farm or construction site all day. After 2 days, she was sick for about 2 weeks. I was so upset and withdrew her. I lost deposit but hell I didn't care. This place is not cheap too. You pay for snacks and lunch. We the mothers we know which good for our kids. Don't get your kids sick like mine! You'll stay at home taking care of them, seeing them weak, suffer from sickness but can't do anything, and blame yourself but too late. Don't waste your time! You want your kids healthy too. read more

Although most of the staff is friendly and inviting, the supervisor however is not. She is unfamiliar and uneducated in regards to parents rights to know information about their own children and has denied me my rights as a mother to know who is on my childs emergency card. She lacks hospitable communication and costumer service. I would not reccommend this daycare because of this. I'm sure any worth while day care would be aware of how to handle situations like these with more compassion and knowledge. read more

We have been with ABC for about a year with a school-aged child and a pre-schooler. We couldn't be happier with the care of both of our kids here at ABC. The teachers greet each child (and parent) by name every morning, and do a fantastic job throughout the day until pick up. My and my husband's schedules have gone from full time to variable days and ABC being open 0700-1800 has been wonderful. Our school-age child goes to the elementary school (CVE) next door and ABC does both drop off and pick up. She participates in homework club every day and is given responsibilities and rewards for helping with the other children as well as cleaning up. She has made friends here and also feels comfortable enough to curl up with a good book and read. Most recently, the director took an extra trip back to the school with her so my daughter could buy a book from the book faire. I felt like this was above and beyond. Our preschooler has grown so much, learning songs, how to write letters and numbers, doing math, participating in circle time, and spending time playing outside in the sandbox or the playhouses. She comes home happy and exhausted! I feel like her teachers really listen to her stories and are gentle and nurturing. She gets a homework folder every week, gearing her up for kindergarten next year, and she enjoys writing the letter of the week or doing a simple project at home (like collecting leaves for the next day in class). There are optional activities that you can elect to participate in as well (for additional fees). They bring in outside organizations to offer sports once a week right at ABC. They had the summer planned out so well with field trips and activities so that the kids could enjoy their summer. ABC offers "kids night out" about once a month when you can drop off your kids from 6-10 (ish) for date night and they watch movies, eat popcorn, play games, and wear their pajamas. Only done this once, but plan to do more! I've recognized that the staff also operate according to state licensure rules, making sure they are in ratio at all times (# of kids to # of teachers). Their strategy this year is to incorporate more of a Montessori style into the curriculum. If there are ever any issues, they call me. If I ever have any issues, I call them. Simple. My son has been at ABC in the pre-K program since this fall. His teachers Ms. Hilda and Ms. Anghella are kind and attentive (but firm when they need to be!). There is a lot of fun time and art activities, as well as learning his letters. It is a welcoming, diverse place and they seem to really recognize the individuality and specialness of each child. I like that the class sizes seem pretty small, so I feel like my son gets a lot of attention. We are very happy with our decision to send our son to ABC. read more

This review has been a long time coming. I currently have 2 kids enrolled at ABC (2yo and 5yo). Ms Kirsten, Ms Kim, Ms Anghella and all the staff have been wonderful. They've done so much to help with my 2yo's development. One thing in particular I was very impressed with was potty training my 2yo daughter. The staff saw that she looked ready for potty training, and within ~ 2 weeks we were done with diapers!!! Also, did I mention their cost is very reasonable for all the services they offer. The director Ms Kirsten has been very accommodating in working with our needs as parents. We're sad we will be dis-enrolling soon, but someone very lucky will be getting the spots my 2 kids will be vacating. read more

Our son has attended ABC since June 2017 and is only leaving in August because he is off to Kindergarten! This has been an amazing 2 years. I wanted him to be safe and have fun. He has been able to that as well as be prepared academically for K. Ms.Tansy is an excellent Principal. Ms.Kim helped us with potty training. The other teachers are also awesome, too! There were times of staff turnover but Ms. Tansy kept us informed. She is available in person, or phone or email. There is a huge backyard and it is great for kids to run around and get a little dirty! I laugh when I find a few pieces of tan bark in his pockets. He burns off all of his energy and sleeps like a baby at night. There is a huge play structure and other outside toys. He comes home daily with art and math/writing worksheets. There are tons of books, toys, art supplies and so forth. There have been so many fun holiday celebrations as well. The ABC team has loved and cared for my son, and all of the other children, while also helping him learn and grow socially & academically. Long overdue review for ABC. We removed our son from a bigger daycare because we felt he needed to be in a smaller class setting . We toured Abc and felt it would be a great fit for him.Our son attended from age 2 until he graduated Pre-K 2018 at 4 years old. Ms Tansy and Ms Kim welcomed him with open arms. They offer snacks, assist with potty training and have set schedules for the day. At summertime they offer a lot of fun activities and have visitors. My daughter previously was attending an in home daycare but we kept experiencing all sorts of issues from behavioral problems, to her being sick a few times every month, and receiving different reports from people working at the home. I started my daughter at ABC Preschool about 4 months ago and it was immediately a night and day difference. Not only is she learning new things all the time but she has such a blast. She doesn't even want to leave at the end of the day! The staff is so great here as I can tell that they genuinely care about the children. I can't say enough wonderful things about all the wonderful teachers at ABC preschool. My daughter is three and a half and has been there since she turned two. At times she can be a bit challenging and the staff has been wonderful, patient, and firm in redirecting her when she is out of line. My daughter actually wakes up on Saturdays and want to go there. She has learned so many letters, numbers, and songs. My office at work is covered with all the creative artwork she brings home. It is obvious to me that these teachers take their roles as educators very seriously. Everyone there has been such a blessing. After 3 years with a nanny, I decided my son needed to transition to preschool. My 3.5 yr old son has been attending ABC Preschool for almost 3 months and he and I both love it. The space is cheerful and clean. The teachers are sincere, warm and understanding. My son had never been to preschool prior to this and had a hard time adjusting - mostly separation anxiety. The staff was patient and gave me daily updates on his progress. After a month, he finally warmed up to the group setting and now thrives, participating in fun activities and circle time. It's a great mix of curriculum and playtime. In a matter of weeks, he came home reciting the months of the year, singing songs, and bringing home creative art projects. I'm so happy that we finally made the transition from in-home nanny to preschool. ABC Preschool was the right choice for us. This school is unsafe for children. Anyone can enter off the street and go right to where toddlers are sleeping. Aside from the negligence about safety, there are insufficient staff members to handle the number of children attending. Management is the problem, not the staff. read more

Our family LOVES ABC Preschool. My daughter started at ABC just after she turned 2. Within 1 month the staff he her fully potty trained, sitting for circle time, singing songs, learning days of the week, and counting. 2 1/2 years later my daughter still LOVES ABC. Ms. Tansy is always welcoming and open to discuss any issues. The teachers are all kind, loving, caring, and professional. It is clear they are focused on providing the best possible care, while also teaching the fundamentals required to start kindergarten. My little one LOVE going and is so excited everyday to greet the teachers and play with all the friends she has made at the school. She comes home daily with art projects that are clearly educationally based. She also comes home HAPPY and tells me how much fun she has had exploring the garden, having imaginary play with friends, reading books, doing art, attending science class, singing, playing outside, and enjoying every moment. I Have the utmost faith that all the staff have my child's best interest at heart and they clearly love the children they work for. My son Sky loves ABC and has been in the preschool program (4 yo) for 7 months, and I am currently searching for kindergartens. My son came from a small home based day care which involved no discipline and plenty of TV, which is why I moved him. I interviewed at about 10 schools, including Challenger in Fremont. I decided on a less formal environment such as ABC for him, and I think I made a good decision. My son already knew his numbers and letters, but I knew what he really needed was socialization and to learn how to sit in circle time, as well as deal well with his peers and make friends. These goals have been met while he has been at ABC, and the environment is fun, with caring teachers, and has been a very good experience for him. I can't say enough about how much I love this place. My son went here for 2 years and just graduated to kindergarten a few weeks ago. I always felt like all the teachers here, not just his, really cared for the well being and advancement of my son. He made awesome friends here, had great social interaction and got a huge head start on kindergarten. The work he is doing now are the same things (if not a bit easier) he had been doing at ABC PRESCHOOL for the past year in PRE-K. He is acceling already at his new school both socially and academically, and I believe most of this is attributed to ABC. I would highly recommend this place to anyone from any part of the bay area, we still miss all the staff here. Just to clarify, I am more over protective than I should be, extremely discerning, and highly skeptical leaving and trusting my son with anyone besides immediate family....I can honestly say this school always put me at ease! read more

We had 2 boys at ABC and they both loved it! Both have moved on to Kindergarten now and were so completely prepared by the Pre-K program the teachers use. The teachers are fun & generous, the director is a lovely woman, and the school is focused on educational play, not just playing! They have had outside groups come in to offer music, science, & sport play for additional costs but they were worth it. Though the building may seem outdated, the director is always trying to update the facility, toys, books, etc. Anything to benefit the kids! read more
