Short version: The five-star reviews are no fluke. Abe is easily the state's top real estate educator, and an interesting guy with countless stories that I'd look forward to hearing even without the class component. I passed both the class test and both components of the state exam on the first try. Getting my real estate license has been a 'bucket list' item for years. But now that I'm on the brink of 40, I realized there wasn't much time left before the bottom of that bucket would rust out. And while there are self-directed from-home options from Abe Lee as well as others, I knew I didn't have the discipline to study on my own. I hadn't done anything student like in decades, so even if the class was walking through the textbook page by page, I knew I needed that kind of guidance. My friends and coworkers recommended Abe Lee, and the Yelp! reviews definitely cinched it for me. Despite full-time work, volunteer work, and three kids at home, I signed up for the four-week program, four hours after work on Thursdays and Fridays and all day Saturday. I won't lie, I thought I was going to pass out a few times. But wrapping things up in less than a month, versus procrastinating for nearly a year and possibly losing focus and wandering off? It was the right choice for me. Does Abe walk you through the textbook? Yes. But man, it's an interesting walk. Sometimes we spent over an hour on one page. Sometimes we'd flip through 10 pages in 10 seconds. All along the way, Abe tells you what you need to know to pass, what you need to know to actually get started as a Realtor (not the same thing), and what you never knew you wanted to know, but are glad you did. Almost every core concept triggers a real-life story, a practical example, of something Abe has done or seen in his years in the business. And more than once, a story was so interesting, I couldn't wait to share it with my family when I got home. As the last hours of the class arrive, the tone shifts from finishing the textbook to focusing on passing the test (and Abe's class test passing rate is incredibly high). From returning to the key chapters to going over a course outline to flipping through original handouts, something is sure to stick. I did look at a friends' materials from another class, and I think Abe's were superior (and I'm now lending it to said friend!) To supplement, my classmates and I made flashcards. Others paid for the class audio to listen to during the week. Making friends in class and finding your most effective study technique is key. It may just be me and my calcified, aged graymatter, but both Abe's class test and the state test were harder than I expected. I was definitely glad that Abe's class test wasn't unusually easy, though, and some of the left-field questions helped me prepare for the even higher number of "I don't even remember this" moments in the state exam. I admit, when I was young I got by without studying much. But I do think it makes a difference here. As the fog of war clears and I can look back on this crazy month with more wisdom and less adrenaline, I'm very glad I took Abe's class. Yelp, my friends and coworkers, even the proctor at the testing site had good things to say about him. It's no surprise to me that his classes are often full (while other schools cancel classes for lack of enrollment), or why many of his students go on to work with him. If you're a disciplined student and a quick study, maybe you can get by with just the book and the online component. But in class is much more fun. Update time! Almost a year after taking Abe's Pre-Licensing class and getting my RA license, Ive been able to close on two transactions. As a licensed realtor, there are continuing education (CE) credit requirements to keep an active license. I chose to take the Core A course with Abe, in class this December to get the ball rolling and not procrastinate til the end of 2016. Registering was easy, simply go to Abe's website (http://www.abeleeseminars.com/) and choose the course you need or are interested in. Abe's assistant, PJ will send you an email on the rest of the process, I like that I didn't have to provide credit card info or other payment until the day of the class. The actual Core A Class was very informative, we went over legislative updates and condominium structure and sales. It was great to hear updates on bills and laws that passed in the past year. Did you know that House Bill 858 states that in cases of domestic violence, the abused victim is able to break a lease without any penalties by their landlord? Though there are specific conditions the situation must follow, I think this is important information for all license holders to know! One of my peers in class was Mr. Bill Ramsy,one of biggest property managers in Honolulu. Its great that Abe allows knowledgeable industry professionals to share their stories or their views on current issues and updated laws. After the first week of classes I was a little beaten up, especially considering that I haven't studied in 20 years. At the beginning I found the weekly classes overwhelming mostly because for me being English is a second language, it was a little difficult to digest. Then I started to put some time in self-studying outside his classes and things got much better. Honestly nothing beats Abe guiding you through the book, providing real examples, sharing decades of personal experience, and keeping you on schedule to take your exam in record time. After three weeks of his classes and studies I gain so much confidence and knowledge for the state exam. If you think that you can just take the 4 weeks course without opening the book, it might no work. Like everything else that you learn from zero, it requires passion and dedication. Cyndy's Bottom Line: Excellent real estate training and instruction! After doing research on real estate training seminars and which one to select I chose to attend Abe Lee Seminars (ALS). They also offer online training. as well. I'm glad that I enrolled with ALS because of the wealth of knowledge, expertise and information that Abe possesses. Abe is an excellent instructor. He conveys and delivers the information in a easy to understand format. He provides memorable examples of different real estate scenarios that you recall and remember for the exam questions. Abe is positive and will make you feel confident to pass the exam. He is very patient and address and answer all questions and is a consummate professional instructor. Abe will even stay after class if you need additional help to understand the content. He provides good tips on how to study. The ALS website is organized well and provides learning aides. You can easily watch or listen to the training videos information for extra study time. There is a one time fee which is well worth it. The text book is organized very well. Provides vocabulary to study and there are exam questions for each chapter and a helpful index and glossary. Upcoming training for continuing education credit classes is offered and non CE credit courses are posted at the website too. There is ample parking available at the Macy's end of Ala Moana. The Abe Lee Real Estate Salesperson home study course is awesome! The class modules are well thought out and easy to follow along. The audio recordings of the actual classes are invaluable. Mr. Lee uses humor and entertaining stories to illustrate the concepts being taught. It's almost like I'm sitting in the classroom. The examples given make sense. The online tests let you know which sections to study if you miss a question. Overall it's a great course and I'm so glad I selected this class out of all of the options available at other schools. I highly recommend this course, especially to older students who may not have spent any time in the classroom in the past several years (or decades) -- don't be afraid...you can do this. Just finished Abe's prelicensing course - passed the first time, thank you Abe! I was really worried at the start of the class and right up until the exam; it's been a while since I've had to take courses for a length of time and I'm not a fan of sitting in class and listening to a teacher talk for hours on end. The January session took place on Thursday and Friday nights from 5:30-9:30 and then Saturdays 9-5 for four weeks. This fulfills the 60 hours of class time required before you can take the licensing exam - but first you have to pass Abe's class! I have to say it was not a hardship at all to sit in class and listen to Abe ... as a longtime veteran of the local real estate industry, he is a wealth of institutional knowledge. His anecdotes were not only entertaining, they helped you to conceptualize the real estate principles we needed to learn. Amazing instructor. Very professional. I'd like to start off by saying that Abe is one of the most influential people that I've ever met. Very successful and extremely good at what he does. Literal epitome of "proven success". Getting back to the point, every lecture, Abe is very upbeat and fun during his presentations. He gives you tons of real life scenarios that he cross references to, which makes it super easy to learn and understand the concept. Everything out on the table, he goes over the 25 chapters real quick, but does take excess time on the imporant chapters-- but, this is a four week, accelerated, course so hands down, you need to study on your own time as well. I passed the school exam on my 1st try! I haven't sat in a class in over 20 yrs but decided to try this class with my son. I started another real estate school but quit because I got intimidated by the text book especially the math portion. One word would describe Abe's Class and that would be " Excellent" from the first time you meet Abe he will engage you and make you feel very comfortable. This man is a fine teacher that makes learning the Principles of Real Estate in a Hawaii very simple and comprehensible. I took the Real Estate pre-licensing class and bought the class audio at Abe Lee Seminars. It's an excellent course with lots of extra study material provided! I passed the class, state and national exams with minimal stress and on my first try without too much studying - Yay! I attribute this to Abe's memorable stories and his class review technique on the last day! I was somewhat familiar with RE concepts already being a homeowner and investor and Abe's class really expanded my knowledge and added much more technical info to it. The class times are perfect if you already have a job and didn't seem too overwhelming, just bring coffee! I didn't have time to read and review all of the material 100% but the class efficiently covered what I needed to know to pass all tests and so I just focused on that. If you are looking to get your license fast and learn a ton about Real Estate I highly recommend this course! I have to tell you, I went to real estate school eight years ago, I went, I passed but did I enjoy it? Not to so much. This time around with Abe Lee it was a completely different story. I chose to take his on-line course because I like to study at all different hours of the day, especially in the wee hours, while most of you are sleeping. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed listening to his on-line presentations, he keeps you encaged the whole time, makes you laugh and more importantly teaches you the pertinent information you need to pass your state exam. I was actually sad, once it was over. So sad in fact, I wanted to meet him in person. So little old me emailed him to see if we could get together for a coffee or simply a meeting so I could ask him a few things about the real estate world. He emailed me back promptly, while on a work vacation, mind you and we set a date. At the time Abe was going through a big change with his company, yet he still had time for little old me. Our meeting was fabulous and he was everything I imagined him to be and more. His office staff was friendly, his office professional, clean and efficient. Hopefully one day I will be part of his fabulous team, for now I have my own business to run and I am studying insurance as well.
