Taking the real estate course with Abe Lee was one of the best decisions I've made!! What sets Abe apart is not just his depth of knowledge--(though he truly is a wealth of information) but the way he goes above and beyond for his students even after the class ends. He takes the time to meet one-on-one, offer guidance, and genuinely support you on your journey into the industry. You can tell he really cares about building relationships, not just producing agents. He's approachable, honest, and incredibly insightful, and his dedication to his students' success is something you don't find often. Whether you're just getting started or looking to grow in real estate, learning from Abe Lee is an invaluable experience--I would definitely recommend him and appreciate all the advice he's offered thus far!

I took the adult driving program with instructor Lenard Wong. While he might be a good driver himself, he is not a good instructor for beginners. I would only recommend him to people who already know how to drive and just need a refresher. For first-time and nervous drivers like me, I highly discourage choosing him. Every time I made a mistake, he would scold, yell, or sigh. This made me incredibly anxious and unable to focus. To make matters worse, he barely explained the rules or how to use the car's mirrors, mechanisms, and other essential functions, nor did he give detailed tips on how to drive well. By the second lesson, he made me drive on the main streets without proper, detailed preparation. Yes I made a lot of mistakes but everyone makes mistake and has different pace. I am trying to learn and that is what I am paying for but with him I am barely learning to drive. If you have zero driving experience, I strongly advise looking for a different driving school or instructor who is patient and thorough.

Over the 20-years that we have been in business we have literally hired thousands and thousands of CNAs at the eight companies we own and operate throughout the State. After a while you start noticing patterns and one of the patterns that we have noticed that compared to most CNA schools, Healthcare Training & Career Consultants (HT&CC) does a GREAT job of preparing CNAs for the workforce. And it's not just me, I have heard Directors of Nursing, HR Managers, and Administrators tell me that they get excited when they see that a CNA applying for a job graduated from HT&CC because they have noticed that HT&CC students tend to come to work far better prepared than most. We have notice that HT&CC graduates seem more comfortable assisting with the activities of daily living, but it's also the little things like already knowing the importance of knocking before entering a room - this is a dignity issue, the critical need to wash hands before and after caring for a patient, providing privacy and blanket coverage when giving a bed bath, even knowing the normal ranges of blood pressure, heart rates, and breathing - things that you would expect that a RN would know but not necessarily a CNA. HT&CC graduates come to work already knowing these things that may seem small to most, but are critical to providing quality care. So when I am asked for recommendation for a CNA school or if one of my daughters wanted to become a CNA, I would without hesitation encourage them to attend HT&CC. And if you want to work as a CNA, know that when we see that a CNA job applicant is a recent graduate from HT&CC they automatically move to the very top of our interview list. I have a license from another country, but it is not convertible to American driving license, so I had to basically go through the entire process again. I honestly thought it wouldn't be a big problem... until I faced the reality. There were so many technicalities on the driving test that I couldn't pass it. To the point that I started to doubt myself and developed driving anxiety. That's when I realized I needed to try something different. I needed help from a professional. And that's how I found Hoku Driving School. That was one of the best decisions I've made. Jesse is everything in one person. Super positive, encouraging, and also very informative. After just the first lesson, I felt a big shift in my confidence. I stopped doubting myself. And it wasn't just feel-good talk -- he gave me very practical, helpful info that actually made me a better driver. But what really made the difference were all the little tips and tricks on how to pass the test. On top of that, he's just a great person to spend time with in the car. We talked about different things, he kept my nerves down. He was cheering me on till the day I had a test. I really felt like someone was on my side, rooting for me. It was absolutely worth the investment, and now I'm recommending him to anyone who's going through this process. Don't struggle alone. Just hire a professional and save yourself the tears and the stress.

His response to me was to mind my own business...I told him that my neighborhood is my business and pointed at the sign he should've read. As most petty people do, he tried to change the subject and told me to pick up after my dog, who I was walking at the time...so I showed him the bags I always keep in the pockets of all my shorts & pants, and then asked him, "what happened to minding one's business?" All he had to do was say, "oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize." and I would've told him, "mahalo" and we'd both go on with our days. I have never left a Yelp review, but it just didn't sit right with me that this man, while in the course of his job (he had a student in his car) where he's supposed to be teaching a student how to navigate Hawaiʻi's roadways, yet ¹ parks illegally, ² doesn't read posted signs, ³ and feels that the rules don't apply to him. I had a driving instructor year ago, and she made me abide by every single law you could think of, everything was by the book, and in the few times that she was wrong about something, she wasn't too proud to admit it and would correct herself. In case anyone is wondering, we live a couple hundred feet from a school and an adjacent public park...so we have kids running around all the time, and illegally parking often limits what drivers can see on the road. You'd think that a driving instructor would understand that, but clearly Hoku doesn't...or maybe he does, he just doesn't care? I don't know, I just know that I wouldn't want my kid to be learning how to drive from someone who can't even abide by posted signage himself, and when made aware of his infraction, responds poorly and in a petty manner.

I definitely wouldn't come back or ever recommend this place to anyone else, and I have no idea how this place has so many 5 star reviews. We came in with a large party (8 adults) for surfing lessons, and the staff immediately seemed put out by us all. We have dealt with very friendly staff in every excursion that we have done so far in Oahu, so it's sad that the last thing we did on this island had a negative vibe. The two main instructors, Kevin and Romeo, totally ruined our surfing experience. No one in our party had any experience surfing, and instead of instructing our group they yelled, got frustrated with us, and were intimidating. The two girl instructors out in the water with us were nice, but Kevin and Romeo were horrible....especially Romeo. If the instructors didn't want to take on such a large party then they shouldn't have taken our reservation, and we would have went elsewhere. One member in our group immediately got motion sickness out in the water and came back in (literally they were out there for 5 minutes and never even tried to surf), and I'm not even bothering to ask about any kind of refund because the male staff were so rude. One other member of our party paid for an extra hour on the water (so a two hour lesson instead of one), and when Romeo found out he had to stay in the water for an extra hour he was so nasty about it (in front of us all) that he ended up switching with Kevin. Romeo throwing out the f-word when putting away the surf boards at the end of the lesson about summed up our whole experience with this place. Save your money and go somewhere else with staff that actually want to teach people how to surf and who like to interact with tourists.

I scheduled the class for May 3 2014 and she proceeded to take down my contact information. On May 3 2014, we showed up at 9:50 am and waited and waited. There was another family who had also signed up for their daughter to attend the etiquette class. We both waited until 10 am and there was no sign of anybody from Art of Charm School. We then kept calling the number posted on the Art of Charm School website to see if we can get a hold of someone to find out what is going on. Finally at 10:20 am, somebody from Art of Charm called us back and told us that the class had been cancelled as of May 2, 2014. She said that they had sent out an email on Friday May 2 evening to inform about the cancellation. However they were not expecting my son as my son's name was never on the class schedule. At that time, I was pretty livid. On a consumer's point of view, I understand that it it inevitable to cancel a class session at times. However it is extremely poor customer service to not have my son and the other family's daughter's information entered into their schedule at all which led them to NOT contact us about the cancellation. When I expressed to them how unsatisfied I was, they did not offer to remedy the situation by offering us a free lesson or discount of some sort. As a school who named themselves Art of Charm and teaches young children on etiquette, I feel 100% confident to say they have FAILED miserably.

There were 2 sessions and each class was limited to 16 participants and I was told the class books up quickly. The August class "Cooking Local Favorites: Korean" was taught by Chef Grant Sato, winner of the 2015 Global Taste of Korean International Cooking Competition. In the 4 hour class we cooked 3 recipes: Soondubu Jjigae (soft tofu stew) with tofu made from scratch!, Miyeokguk (Korean seaweed soup with beef), and Dakjjim (braised chicken with noodles and vegetables) Chef Sato's competition winning dish. Classes are held at the Culinary Institute of the Pacific's beautiful new kitchens on 4500 Diamond Head Road. Parking is right in front of the building and you are advised to wear close toed shoes and long pants. You can bring an apron if you want (I did not). All ingredients and cooking equipment are provided. Masks are required for participants. Upon arrival you are given the recipes and assigned to a station, 2 students to a station. My son took the class with me and we got the station right in front of the demo area which was nice. The stations each have two sinks, a stove, knives, pans, and the assistants bring you the ingredients for each dish. Chef Sato gives a demonstration at the front of the kitchen and everyone watches, then goes back to their stations to replicate what he just showed. The 4 hours pass quickly, there is much to do. I even learned how to cut up a whole chicken (my son would not touch it.) One of the things I really liked about this was finding out what exact ingredients Chef uses in his cooking so I took lots of pictures of the products. The resulting dishes were all delicious and we packed them up and took them home. There was a lot of food, enough for several dinners. I will definitely take more classes here! HINT: Since you are sharing a station, its fun to sign up with a buddy.

The contest will garner 2 winners with purse of $1000 and $750 respectively for the 1st and 2nd place winners. There were eight contenders. Each entry had to contain local ingredients, healthy with conscience to nutritional value and the preparation cost price point had to be something reasonable for 7-Eleven to be able to resell the lunch meal. The meal had to also withstand the heat as it sits under the heating element waiting to be purchased. I enjoyed their sampling process. We got to try each entry served in something more than bite sized portions, chat with each contestant about their creation, chat with the educating staff at the Culinary Institute and always with Yelp Events we got to visit and chat with fellow Yelpers old and new.
