Breakfast quesadilla
Lauren H.

There aren't enough stars available to accurately describe this experience! The food is seemingly humble in description, but packs such a flavor punch. This is a spot to definitely check out. We noticed many regulars and even though it was a weekend brunch time, their service was fast and wait for table minimal. You can tell they use fresh ingredients and their portions were generous. We ordered the breakfast quesadilla and huevos rancheros. It tasted just as we expected but elevated! We kept looking at each other saying, I'm so glad we stopped here. We certainly plan on revisiting when back in town and making our way through this menu.

Asheville has a lot of breakfast places, and it was hard to pick one. Abeja's is popular with the locals, and I can see why. The employees were so nice. The coffee is excellent and not the typical diner coffee. Plus, you can get almond milk for your coffee. They have a mixture of traditional and Mexican breakfasts. My son had the breakfast platter and loved it. I had the breakfast quesadilla. It was delicious. I loved the addition of spinach and onions. It was so good and huge. The potatoes are also tasty. The portions are generous and worth the trip to the residential part of town.

You can hardly turn a corner in Asheville without running into a breakfast spot, but this unassuming little cafe is a cut above. The breakfast tacos are simple but so comforting and flavorful (don't miss the avocado cream sauce), and the huevos rancheros are delicious, well-balanced, and generous. Great, quick service and truly tasty dishes.

El Puerquito Omelette (feta instead of jack cheese) Roasted potatoes GF biscuit

The place was packed when I showed up, but service and ambiance worked out very well. I got the El Puerquito Omelette (which has sausage, bacon, and pepper jack cheese, except I replaced the jack cheese with feta cheese) with roasted potatoes and a GF biscuit. I thought the potatoes would be crisper, but they were still nicely cooked and beautifully decorated. I had to salt and pepper them myself, though. The biscuit was also nicely baked and I was given strawberry jam which gave it a sweet flavor. The hero, however, was the omelette, which had beautifully cooked eggs and a great savory flavor from the meat and cheese. Overall, a great brunch place with absolutely beautiful food.

This cafe is very good - the ladies did an amazing job - in & out much appreciated - lots of options - definitely a MUST TRY****

Vegan sourdough toast with side order of greens, potatoes, and maple temeph

The service was lacking and our waitress did not attend us as often as I would have liked. It was almost like she had forgotten about us despite the small restaurant. She did not refill our waters or offer any kind of friendly hospitality. Then, they say that they offer vegan options, however, what they don't tell you is that they will cross-contaminate foods with non-vegan food. I ordered the maple tempeh with potatoes and toast. It was strange because it came with greens. In my years of being alive, have I ever been to a breakfast spot that offers greens to the dish? That was weird. The potatoes and toast were tasty, however, the main dish of maple tempeh was not good. It lacked flavor and was mediocre. The whole dish made me sick and gave me the runs. The reason that I know that the food was cross-contaminated is because I got sick and I only get immediately sick when vegan food is touched by eggs or meat. So beware to vegans. I would say this restaurant is more vegetarian-friendly. They have plenty of parking and the restaurant is kind of far away from the main areas of Asheville.

Still my go-to breakfast spot when I'm in Asheville. Consistently great service and food. Our food arrived quickly and tasted great. I appreciate that they use quality ingredients and many things are made from scratch. Pro-tip: The inside dining area is pretty small. There is an outdoor patio that is used when the temperature allows. Consider calling ahead to check and see if there is a wait... especially if you have a larger party.

Outstanding spot! Just passing through and found this gem on Yelp . Wonderful outside patio area where our dog happily sat in shade. We were seated promptly and ordered from this Latin inspired menu. We had some brunch dishes -- heuvos rancheros was amazing as was the chorizo hash. French toast and kids pancakes also super yummy traditional choices. Service was prompt and friendly. All good things here would def come back

Got takeout from here. The breakfast potatoes were RAW. Egg and bacon biscuit was mediocre at best. The biscuit was more like a roll. Not a biscuit. Had to wait over 20 minutes for this; it was busy, but they just let my sandwich sit there. Waste of time and money. Extremely disappointed.

We were sat so quickly even on a Sunday with a large group. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. There is a variety of great breakfast food options, including the Mexican scramble and breakfast tacos. Great breakfast place!

We stopped by here to pick up our order and see that they are currently open with indoor and outdoor seating. I called ahead and placed my order and it was ready in 10 mins. I wasn't able to look at a menu online and so I ordered huevos rancheros and Abeja's burrito with cheese grits. You just walk past the outdoor area and straight in to pick up your order. There are lines to separate customers on the floor. A lady immediately greeted me and got my order ready when I walked in. They were nicely packed into boxes and smells delicious. The presentation was nice even though it was a to go order. Everything was separated so nothing was soggy. The huevos rancheros was packed with flavor. I got my eggs over easy and the creamy yoke balanced the whole dish. The tortilla chips was crunchy and a good vessel to eat with. The chorizo wasn't the best (I like spicy and it wasn't), but good portion and taste. The burrito was packed with scrambled eggs and veggies. I like the tangy creama with every bite. The cheese grits were so cheesy you can see strings with every bite. Overall, good portion and flavor, along with friendly service and is definitely worth a visit if in the area.

Cheesy bread.

Excellent breakfast. Would highly recommend and was worth a little drive for sure. Servings were great and our daughter lived her pancake.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. Food is solid and edible but there's nothing special really. Is this really Asheville's #1?

The food is *excellent*, the starters are great, the cocktails are delicious, we haven't had one dud on any menu item. The only complaint is the location, and *maybe* some of the servers don't have so much English, but in a place like this, that's charm and it's never been a problem. The host is helpful and energetic, the interior is charming and interesting. If this was in Asheville, or Biltmore Square, it would be going gangbusters. We got this epic "appetizer" plate piled with fried meats and starches and garlic tomatoes. Circle up on that with some beers and you have a party. The seafood coconut soup was decadent. Plus a bunch of vegan items. Smart for such a meat heavy spot to have some offerings for your vegan loved ones. I will be back.

I very much love the filling on the inside which was a chocolate frosting and loved the chocolate layer on the outside of the cake. The cake part itself was definitely a bit dry. It was flakey when I put my spoon into it. Still good but the filling helped a lot. It did come with some kind of fruit sauce on the side (maybe strawberry?) but I didn't wanna make it a fruity chocolate cake so I dipped a few bites. I also saw they had Bavarian cream churros and since I've never had churros before, I wanted to try those as well. I'm not sure how churros are supposed to be but I was thinking they would be a little soft since they had filling but they weren't. They were on the crunchy side and I that kinda made it hard to taste the cream in the middle. They were good but like I said, not sure if that's how they're supposed to be. They came with a chocolate sauce and it was delicious but that definitely masked the flavor of the churro. Both were $7 each so not too bad. I think I'd get both again if I'm here in the future. Side note, no, I don't finish either dessert. I took them home. Lmao!

I've been here twice now and cannot say I'm impressed. On our most recent visit we ordered chicken empanadas as a snack with our drinks. The chicken was bland with no seasoning or sauce inside, just plain chicken. The empanadas had a sauce drizzled on top and another sauce on the side, but those couldn't quite save the dish, just made it palatable. The food came out before drinks, and we already finished our food before the drinks came! Waitress checked on us and we said we were still waiting on drinks and she had to ask us again what we ordered. She then promptly came with the drinks. Drinks were pretty good, but we stopped after that one round. Our waitress seemed new, so I don't fault her. All in all, with the abundance of rooftop bar options downtown this one is definitely on the bottom of my list. The main plus is how spacious it is, great for large groups! Just avoid the empanadas.

We were impressed by the interest and fanfare this post-Helene event created for the locals. Parking on the street, across the street or a short way up the street is town free parking. Shannon and Rain were our friendly and helpful servers. There are many seating options. We chose the sun room which was comfortable. Others were seated outside on the side porch and several people were inside. We shared a bowl of the delicious French onion soup. Eat it while it's hot for the best experience. The buckwheat crepes were the perfect consistency to handle the savory entrees. My Market crepe was packed full of goodies including the sausage add-on. Each ingredient stood well on its own. The pesto was a standout. My partner got the mushroom crepe with chicken. She enjoyed immensely. Both entrees came with a fresh greens and balsamic dressing. The servings were generous enough to bring two halves home for dinner.
