We noticed many regulars and even though it was a weekend brunch time, their service was fast and wait for table minimal. You can tell they use fresh ingredients and their portions were generous. Asheville has a lot of breakfast places, and it was hard to pick one. Abeja's is popular with the locals, and I can see why. The employees were so nice. The coffee is excellent and not the typical diner coffee. Plus, you can get almond milk for your coffee. They have a mixture of traditional and Mexican breakfasts. I got the El Puerquito Omelette (which has sausage, bacon, and pepper jack cheese, except I replaced the jack cheese with feta cheese) with roasted potatoes and a GF biscuit. I thought the potatoes would be crisper, but they were still nicely cooked and beautifully decorated. I had to salt and pepper them myself, though. The biscuit was also nicely baked and I was given strawberry jam which gave it a sweet flavor. The service was lacking and our waitress did not attend us as often as I would have liked. It was almost like she had forgotten about us despite the small restaurant. She did not refill our waters or offer any kind of friendly hospitality. Then, they say that they offer vegan options, however, what they don't tell you is that they will cross-contaminate foods with non-vegan food. I ordered the maple tempeh with potatoes and toast. It was strange because it came with greens. In my years of being alive, have I ever been to a breakfast spot that offers greens to the dish? That was weird. The potatoes and toast were tasty, however, the main dish of maple tempeh was not good. It lacked flavor and was mediocre. The whole dish made me sick and gave me the runs. The reason that I know that the food was cross-contaminated is because I got sick and I only get immediately sick when vegan food is touched by eggs or meat. So beware to vegans. I would say this restaurant is more vegetarian-friendly. They have plenty of parking and the restaurant is kind of far away from the main areas of Asheville. read more

We stopped by here to pick up our order and see that they are currently open with indoor and outdoor seating. I called ahead and placed my order and it was ready in 10 mins. I wasn't able to look at a menu online and so I ordered huevos rancheros and Abeja's burrito with cheese grits. You just walk past the outdoor area and straight in to pick up your order. There are lines to separate customers on the floor. A lady immediately greeted me and got my order ready when I walked in. They were nicely packed into boxes and smells delicious. The presentation was nice even though it was a to go order. Everything was separated so nothing was soggy. The huevos rancheros was packed with flavor. I got my eggs over easy and the creamy yoke balanced the whole dish. The tortilla chips was crunchy and a good vessel to eat with. The chorizo wasn't the best (I like spicy and it wasn't), but good portion and taste. The burrito was packed with scrambled eggs and veggies. I like the tangy creama with every bite. The cheese grits were so cheesy you can see strings with every bite. Overall, good portion and flavor, along with friendly service and is definitely worth a visit if in the area. read more

Yeah, it is pretty darn good. Stopped in on a weekday morning following a decent hike south of Asheville. Strip mall place, a little nicer than I expected after reading other reviews. I was with my wife, my two sons and one of their friends. Everyone ordered something different and by all accounts, it was all delicious. I hade the breakfast tacos and they were so tasty. Torts were tasty, eggs cooked to perfection. The cheese and sauce were a perfect combo and didn't overpower the taco. Threw a little extra hot sauce on them, cause I always do. I had to search for vegetarian-friendly breakfast place in Asheville (surprisingly), but I couldn't have done much better than this. It's in a shopping center a bit south of the city, but it's a very nice space and has an outdoor enclosure as well. The menu is Latin American brunch with ample vegetarian options. For my vegan burrito, I was offered a choice of tofu or tempeh. I would have been fine with beans and vegetables, but chose the herbal tofu, which made for a very filling and nutritious breakfast. I returned the next day seeking something sweeter. Their specials board offered chocolate crepes, which sounded nice, but I was informed that special was over and out. I was a bit peeved no one pointed it out to me the day before. However, my consolation prize turned out to be a light and fluffy French toast. The bread itself wasn't that flavorful, but combining it with the impressive fruit assembly made for a fantastic flavor experience, even better with a dip in maple syrup. I added some beans for protein. I would also note that I was a bit skeptical of ordering their teas, but they were loose leaf and excellent. It's fast, it's open early, it's a beautiful space, it's got substantive food for almost any diet. And it's fresh and delicious. This is a small cafe on the right corner of a Strip Mall. I've been wanting to go for so long but we rarely go to South Asheville. The menu has a nice variety of items. Some breakfast, some larger plates, some sandwiches.. Everything looks good. I took my order to go. I decided to try the huevos rancheros and the New Orleans chicken and Shrimp. They were both good but the huevos rancheros was phenomenal. The best I've ever had. Their seasoning was perfect. I didn't get dessert but I saw them through the glass and they all looked good. Came on a Saturday morning and there was already a line. It's in the corner of a strip mall. So you can easily just walk around when waiting. First time coming here so I wasn't sure how to add myself to the waitlist but you can just go inside and find a clipboard to add yourself on or wait for some person to come out to call the next person and tell them to add your ahem on the list. The menu has a lot of different options. Since it was my first time here I wanted to be basic and try their most popular dishes which were the pura vida bowl and hues rancheros. I'm not a big fan of beans and wasn't expecting beans to be in there. So when I saw the bottom of the pura vida bowl was full of beans I was a bit concern. However, It was pretty delicious. The heaves rancheros also had a good touch. The sauces in there was very delicious when combined. The OJ was pretty good however one of the cups had a lipstick on it and it wasn't mine. The server was kind enough to give a new glass filled up with new OJ. This place was just plain delicious and cheap. I have nothing to complain about this place besides waiting in line in the cold. I'm surprised this isn't one of the top places on yelp when I searched for breakfast. This is a must go. It's not overrated I swear. read more

The coffee might seem a bit spendy but honestly it was amazing just needed a tad bit of sugar. The highlight was definitely the carrot pancakes. They are amazing! It was just the right amount of sweetness but also had a lot of flavor to it. The Mexican scramble was a lot of food had a lot more filling than egg and honestly it was perfect.
