Loco Bowl Lunch

We happened to be in the neighborhood one day around lunchtime and decided to drop in to check it out as we love the food truck. Service was great, with ample seating inside and out. More people were sitting outside on this beautiful day - some with their dogs. All of our meals were good.

I didn't expect this location to be as charming as the one in Black Mountain, but surprisingly it was quite atmospheric, conveying a sense of an old workshop transitioned into a cafe. The servers conveyed a sense of experience. The menu offers intriguing choices with French crepes based on buckwheat or tamales and empanadas. They offer enough options to satisfy most diets. I was presented a set of tea options which were generic, but I still appreciated being able to drink a Trader Joe's mint tea with my tamales. These come beautifully prepared, though the salad greens on the side weren't at peak freshness. Still it's a place where I ponder what else I could have ordered.

I had a beef and a chicken empanada with rice and beans. Everything was very good. The staff was friendly and efficient. The building does not look like much from the outside. Their sign in front is rather small.

I was looking for a quick lunch stop, and Cecilia's Kitchen (Food From the Heart) was a perfect spot! There were a few quaint outdoor tables & I grabbed the last one in the shade. They have a variety of empanadas and tamales, two for $12. The server said I could have one of each, so I got the yummy Chicken Enchilada, and Tomate Empanada. Really great! I will be back...

Great first experience at Cecilia's Kitchen. The service was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was very fresh and delicious. We recommend to try the fresh cilantro salsa with any savory items. The interior was clean and well decorated. The prices are quite reasonable for such a fresh and tasty dinner. We have already picked out what to try next time.

I got a chicken tamale with kale salad from their food truck at Highland Brewery. Both were bland, not bad, just blah.

We saw this place while visiting Wicked Weed across the street. After seeing the amazing Yelp…read morereviews we decided to return a few days later and try it out. I ordered the Pork Arepa and Yuka Fries. The food was delicious - fresh, very flavorful and well balanced. The staff was friendly and did not act annoyed at us for bringing kids along. They even came out and offered us a high chair. Even though the restaurant is small, they had ample outdoor seating as well. We enjoyed our lunch immensely! When we return to the area, we'll have to come back and try more from the menu.

We added escabeche (perfect blend of flavors!) and tostones (with delicious sauce). We needed dairy free as well, so sadly no queso for us, but please enjoy it if you aren't dairy free. We got our order to go, and it was packaged well and stayed hot until we got back to our hotel room, even though it was quite cold outside. This is a tiny place with maybe 8-12 barstools. It is squeaky clean and decorated so nicely. The owner has a great sense of humor as evidenced by his posted hours by the door. Everything is gluten free. I wish this was in my hometown. I would eat there several times a week. I will certainly return when I am in Asheville again, and am even considering placing an order on my last day here to take home for dinner. One thing to note: street parking only as the lot next to the building belongs to another establishment, and they don't play with you parking in their spots.

The food is *excellent*, the starters are great, the cocktails are delicious, we haven't had one dud on any menu item. The only complaint is the location, and *maybe* some of the servers don't have so much English, but in a place like this, that's charm and it's never been a problem. The host is helpful and energetic, the interior is charming and interesting. If this was in Asheville, or Biltmore Square, it would be going gangbusters. Just a great place, cannot recommend this one enough.

Juancho has super friendly staff and exciting flame filled kitchen plus all the Colombian dishes you crave. Plus fried rices, soups and a lonon saltado. We got this epic "appetizer" plate piled with fried meats and starches and garlic tomatoes. Circle up on that with some beers and you have a party. The seafood coconut soup was decadent. Plus a bunch of vegan items. Smart for such a meat heavy spot to have some offerings for your vegan loved ones. I will be back.

First time staying at this hotel and they have a voucher for food and since I wasn't hungry, I got…read moresome desserts to try. I'm OBSESSED with chocolate so I had to try the chocolate cake. I very much love the filling on the inside which was a chocolate frosting and loved the chocolate layer on the outside of the cake. The cake part itself was definitely a bit dry. It was flakey when I put my spoon into it. Still good but the filling helped a lot. It did come with some kind of fruit sauce on the side (maybe strawberry?) but I didn't wanna make it a fruity chocolate cake so I dipped a few bites. I also saw they had Bavarian cream churros and since I've never had churros before, I wanted to try those as well. I'm not sure how churros are supposed to be but I was thinking they would be a little soft since they had filling but they weren't. They were on the crunchy side and I that kinda made it hard to taste the cream in the middle. They were good but like I said, not sure if that's how they're supposed to be. They came with a chocolate sauce and it was delicious but that definitely masked the flavor of the churro. Both were $7 each so not too bad. I think I'd get both again if I'm here in the future. Side note, no, I don't finish either dessert. I took them home. Lmao!

The hostess found our reservation right away and seated us inside--originally I asked for patio seating, but Mother Nature said "absolutely not," so indoors it was. Our waitress was fantastic. I'm about 87% sure her name was Sylvia (according to my girlfriend), but what I do know is that she was a fun, blondish woman from New Orleans with a personality that made the experience even better. We kept it light--just drinks and appetizers to share. I ordered a Coquito, my girlfriend ordered something sweet (the name escapes me, but the smile didn't). Food-wise, we shared the chicken empanadas, yuca fritas, and crispy Caribbean wings. Every bite was a win. We had to make a dramatic exit because we were heading to a walking ghost tour (priorities), so we grabbed dessert to go: pastelitos de guayaba. Even eaten on the move, they were absolutely delicious. Great food, great service, great vibes--10/10 would celebrate another month-versary here.

My only negative was that it took too long to get my margarita from the bar! Had it come sooner, i would have gladly ordered another one. At first I was a little disappointed, but then I saw how much food I got for my meal, and I'm glad that I didn't get the chips and salsa b/c I wouldn't have been able to eat my meal!
