When I explained that I need to bring in a laptop for service, I also explained that I had a medical & mental health exemption from the unlawful mask mandate and asked if there was an accommodation they could make like taking the computer from me outside. The individual insulted me instead and said anyone not wearing a mask is immoral as HE has complications with asthma and wears it. My complication is due to violent trauma and I should not have to reveal what took place, however, this individual went above and beyond to insult me and every other individual that is unable to wear this and has ADA accommodations for work and to be in public places for services. Sad that people are not educating themselves on the difference between LAW vs LEGAL and that mandates, orders and requirements are NOT LAW. Eventually, he shipped the computer back to me without my permission, and it arrived with the stand broken and the fan still unfixed. He said he would come fix it once the new fan came in, but after waiting over a month with no resolution, I finally gave up and ordered the fan and a new stand myself and had someone else complete the repairs. My first thought was to go to the Geek Squad at Best Buy. Talking to coworkers, they recommended instead that I go to a mom and pop local place, so I started searching nearby. I found these guys within 3m of me and contacted them about details of what may be involved. I dropped off my baby, trusting their expertise to diagnose and fix the issue since I use this PC for gaming, personal business and some work. I received a call a day later as promised saying that they found the issue and to fix it they need to replace the drive. I asked about specifics of the replacement drive to compare it to a high performance drive I had just recently purchased. Mine was better, so I dropped it off with them shortly after their call to use in the rebuild. They said it would be a day for them to complete the work. I showed up the next day and my PC was ready to go as promised. Total bill was $85 to diagnose, replace drive and install Win 11 since Win 10 is about to go out of support. I shared my very positive experience with my coworkers just in case they need work done in the future. He then had me initiate a defragmentation on my hard drive. This was smart since it took about four hours. After completion I texted him and he had me bring my computer right over. He replaced the hard drive, cloned my other hard drive to that new one, and then evaluated to make sure all was working well. Less than three hours later I had my computer back.
