The gentleman (I'm assuming the owner) personally brought out our food and drinks, along with a generously sized jar of curtido. Let's start with the horchata. This was my first time having the Salvadoran version -- I've only had Mexican horchata before. It wasn't as cinnamon-forward or as sweet as what I'm used to, but it was refreshing and delicious in its own way. The pupusas were fantastic. The bean and cheese ended up being my favorite -- flavorful, comforting, and perfectly balanced. I was expecting the pork rind filling to have more pronounced chicharrón pieces. It was still tasty, just a bit more subtle than I anticipated. Now... the curtido deserves its own paragraph. The yellowish color initially threw me off, but once I tasted it? Game over. Perfectly pickled, still crunchy, and so flavorful that we easily went through a third of the jar. It elevated the pupusas and tied everything together beautifully. Here's my only "complaint": this place is dangerously close to my house. It's delicious, well-priced, and entirely too easy to justify stopping by.
