I went to this salon before Labor Day and was told they "don't offer gel manicure," which I found strange but let go. Today I went back not because I'm satisfied, but because it's the only salon close to me ,and the lady was extremely rude, refusing to do my nails and saying, "We're not doing it for you because you wrote a review." What kind of customer service is this? Reviews are meant to share honest experiences, and I have every right to warn others so they don't waste their money. She isn't even the owner, just an employee, yet she acted with complete disrespect, even speaking in her language to the other workers as I walked in, which felt unwelcoming. Since business has been good, the younger lady had gotten rude and cocky. I've been coming here for several years and since they hired more help, I must say that the quality of work has gone way down. My nails barely lasted a week this last time and they will begin doing my feet and take other customers so they don't leave (when normally they would do both my hands and feet at the same time) then force me to have to wait. My first service (full acrylic set and deluxe pedi with acrylic fill big toenail) was exceptional. My 2nd service was rushed. The pedicurist was not able to finish polishing my nails. After I returned home, I noticed the imperfections. I believe the owner painted my fingernails, she didn't do a good paint job. My 3rd visit the pedicurist and main manicurist were able to complete the entire process. I'm looking for consistency. Since this salon doesn't offer design, nail polish options are boring there's nothing that's special about this salon. I know I'm a good customer so with little options my expectations are my nails shaped well, receive a good mani/pedi (clean cuticles) and my nails polished exceptional, at least give me that. I not only go to receive a professional job but to relax. I don't have time to point out what was missed. Word to the wise: Don't get too comfortable with any customer strive for excellence and remember you are the professional, the customer has hired you and have the power to fire you. I used to be a regular customer here but today Me and my mom came in for Mother's Day weekend to get manicures and pedicures and the service is very bad. They were 10 minutes late coming in. Also nobody spoke English. Only the person who opened the store. There was no music. It was just not a vibe and my mother was overcharged. She went from $50-$70 for French tips and the nail polish was regular and my feet was done with old nasty foot tools old foot scrubbers and the nail polish is super old and they use tissue to put in between my toes ugh we felt robbed and so did the other customers. read more

I asked her if she has another option like Venmo or a atm and she said NO and looked into my face and said " DONT COME BACK UNLESS YOU HAVE CASH " I love the fact that she can even run a business in 2022 not accepting any type of card payment should be illegal . I loved this nail shop for over a decade. I found it when I used to live over there, and continued to travel there even after I moved. They do amazing nails, I'll give them that. But sadly, I've been shunned from going back for asking if I was overcharged. I paid for a gel manicure, no problem. When I went back, I asked if I was overcharged last time and all hell broke lose! I could tell they got mad. (Context: I was charged $25 extra doing French tip on 4 nails only. $35 for gel manicure, plus $25 for 4 French tips). I tried going back 3 times and each time, was told no, they didn't have time, they were going to leave etc. I was heartbroken, as I've been going there for over a decade. They do good nails, but don't ask about being overcharged - you'll be exiled! read more

Been coming to About Beauty Nails for almost a decade. Have tried other nail salons in and around Oakland and even ventured out to Richmond and SJ, but I keep coming back here because the attention to detail is unsurpassed! The owner Lisa is very talkative and friendly. Throughout the years, there have been numerous employees, but the ones that stay are the outstanding workmanships of Tiffany, Laura & Amy. Tiffany does both mani & pedi. Laura does mainly mani & Amy does 99% pedis. Lisa does brow waxing and heads the manicures, especially with acrylic. They have a great selection of colors. Ever since gel polish came into their existence, I've been a loyal to it. Lasts me about 2.5-3 weeks before I have to change it out because my darn nails grow too fast! Rarely chips, but does ocassionally tug on my hair when the polish lifts if I wait to long to change it out since there's at least 4 layers of polish (base, 2+ coats of color, top). They follow all properly procedures for removing polishes and artificial nails. I've been to other salons where they peel the gel polish by hand (that's a no-go!). I've started calling them a couple years ago to make sure I don't get in during their rush hours, which varies everyday. Bring cash! Parking can be complicated some days, but I've managed to park across the street at Walgreens :) read more

First of all: My pedicure was amazing. I went from hobbit feet to Cinderella. the nail tech who did my pedicure this time and last time (same person) takes SUCH good care of your nails and my feet has never looked better. I went in for a fill and new gel. It cost extra for the glitter gel over the regular gel. Fill is nice and smooth. Gel looks great and i love glitter so cant go wrong there. She asked to show pictures of what I wanted and talked with me to make sure my full set came out exactly as I like. This has become my regular nail salon. I'm not sure my favorite tech's name (I'm horrible with names and I don't know she's ever told me it..) but she's usually at the table furthest from the door, fairly young and has kind of reddish hair. She does AWESOME work. I've never had my acrylics last as long as they do with her without any lifting (always two weeks. Even made it three once but I prefer going more often than that.) she also applies polish with some crazy precision. I've gotten the chrome a couple times and it's always perfect. (Though pricey.. chrome is +$20, on top of a $20 gel nail fill. +$5 to change shape, +$2 if you do need a fix) So, if they are so good why did I take off a star? Because it is not a particularly relaxing or high end experience. The chairs aren't super comfy, there are no extras offered (no hand rubs or lotion for enhancements but they might do it for manis...) I've also noticed the results with some of the other techs are not as good. One poor woman's full set started well before mine and she was just getting polished as I was out the door. I'm also not sure I'd get a pedicure here. It's clean enough to not gross me out, but not enough to impress me. I will keep coming back but I'm loyal to last-table red hair girl. I used to get my nails done at this shop years ago before I started to do my own nails. I went to this shop for a year, and Always appreciated the service and the way my nails were done. However Lisa (the proprietor) and her staff, refuse to acknowledge their inconsistencies. One night I was the last appt. of the night, Lisa's son Eric did my nails and totally botched them! They were so lumpy and bumpy that the thick application of acrylic actually made my nails hurt under the pressure. Before I left that night I told Lisa that I wasn't happy with my nails, I understood it was late and that I'd be back the next day to get them fixed (such a hassle In busy nail salons). When I got back the next day Lisa was furious that she had to redo the shaping of my nails, (took about an hour to shape and blast off all the acrylic her son has applied). She was so upset that she got rude and told me never to come back, very loud and disrespectfully in front of the entire shop and even some of my friends that were there. She told me never to come back if I don't like her sons work, (even though I had done nothing but asked to have my nails fixed). The service is extremely inconsistent because everyone waits for like 2 nail techs (Lisa & LyLy) and the rest do such mediocre work that shop just fills up with waiting women, no care to throwing off anyone's schedule. I was younger when I used to go here, it's in a central location across the street from Lucky's at the lake and it's always full of loud young girls/ teenagers so naturally I thought it was the PREMIERE place to be for nails! NOT!!! Now that I do my own nails and pedicures I realize this shop is absolutely unsanitary, real acrylic is more expensive and better quality than the MMA crap they're using. They have no concern for ambiance, schedules or quality acrylics and products. I'm glad that I've matured but I'd suggest you girls not follow the crowd on this one! My favorite part of going here is posting them on ig after. Finally a nail salon that's just as extra as I am. They have so many colors and rhinestones to choose from. You say sparkle? I found my new go too! These ladies are so sweet, price was right, and the work was worth the trip! This family owned salon was clean, atmosphere was comfortable and the location is convenient. Called in for an appointment, time was 5:10ish, made it for 6pm; yes I recommend appointments! Although yes they have a later closing time of 7:30pm, I always found that a lot of shops for the last hour take appointment ONLY for that time frame. After all was said and done, both of the owners were very gentle with my hands and their little one, Ashley was a delight. I've gotten longer lasting, and better pedicures, but for the price and convenience, I will go back, plus they've also taken care of my calluses - which not all places will do for you!
