Nhi is AMAZING! I now solely go to her for manicures. I used to go to gel, but she talked me into switching to builder. Nhi has incredible attention to detail and takes a lot of pride in her work. I've never had someone pay such close attention to the share of my nails and endure that the polish precisely covers the nail without even grazing the cuticle. Sometimes services there take a little longer than I would expect, but if you care about quality, it's worth it. The salon in general has a clean minimalist design and it's never really crowded. I do strongly recommend appointments though, they don't have a lot if people working at once. read more

I started going to Tammy earlier this year and I will never go to another nail salon, or nail artist, ever again! She is absolutely the best. She pays attention to every detail, making sure my nails are smooth, even and perfect. I've been doing builder gel and it has protected my nail really well and allowed them to grow to the longest I've ever seen them. Usually my natural nails break as soon as my nail has any length! I've also not had any issues with chipping or peeling as I squally experience with regular gel. It lasts up to a month but I like to change it up every 3 weeks or so just for fun. My last two visits were ridiculous. I reserved a particular technician only to find that there was a switch that didn't make sense. The gentleman who took on the appointment made several errors, from not allowing the polish to dry so that it had to be redone, followed by closing the salon EARLY with the polish ruined before I got to the sidewalk. I decided that there was no hope. The next visit was taken on with a different technician. When I pointed out that the polish was on my skin and the nail not clipped right she actually blamed me for the problem. There were other items that I noticed but allowed to pass. So glad to have moved to another salon. read more

Cannot recommend Tammy enough. She is a perfectionist through and through. I go to Tammy for builder gel on natural nails and regular pedicure and she is truly top notch across the board. She takes so much pride in her work with incredible attention to detail and is always so patient and gracious if you want something done differently. She's a rare combination of both talent and someone who genuinely puts the client first and it shows. Sarah at the front desk is also a dream. Honestly a phenomenal place. Decided to get a last minute pedi and on a Sunday so wasn't too sure if I could find any trusted places on such short notice. Did though!!! I got the deluxe pedi shade 003 red polish and my aunt got the deluxe with a callous treatment added on for $10. Unfortunately I'm not quite too sure what our techs names where I believe my tech was Lisa sorry if I'm wrong. I had a broken 2nd toe nail and she fixed it without issue and no fee such a wonderful and kind women. Had a pedicure a week ago with Ivan. He was definitely new to the nail business. Nice but inexperienced. I had to prompt him and still I don't think he was confident. Was filing my nails before trimming, aggressively pushing back cuticles but not trimming. Leaving dead skin on toes. I had to go home and correct these myself. Paid for manicure with callus removal $55. Callus still remained. Disappointing experience. Clearly they put him with me because I booked a basic pedicure $45 + callus $10 removal. They tried to upsell me on the phone, and normally I do have a more expensive pedicure, but I want to see how they do with a basic before booking any other services. It was slow and only one other person getting a manicure. Need to have another pedicure only a week later! Another thing to note, there is NO parking!! You have to drive around the blocks to find a space. Broken glass everywhere evident that cars are being broken into. For me, this place is a HARD pass. read more

They told me they could not take my appointment for two hours they charge they quoted me $55 on the phone and then when I get there they say it's $60 plus $10 to take off my dip powder! I explained that they needed to honor what I was told over the phone and they wanted to argue about it so.... What a horrible first impression there's nobody else in there and so maybe that's why. I had been to this nail salon before a couple times and had a really positive experience. I thought I finally found my go to nail salon. I have hand eczema so I usually only get a pedicure but I finally was able to heal my hands enough to want to get a manicure. What was suppose to be a celebratory self care treat left me really disappointed, to the point where I won't be back. I came in expecting the high standard they set previously. Today I booked a gel French tip mani pedi with the deluxe treatment. I was being worked on simultaneously by Lisa on hands and I didn't catch the person who did my pedicure's name. Both honestly really rushed the process and did a really subpar job considering the price. I had to come home and try to salvage their work. Lisa cut me as they were cleaning my cuticles and made a comment about how my skin is dry, as if to insinuate that's the reason why. I told them I have hand eczema, and yes it does cause dry skin but had I not been cut I wouldn't have bled. This really soured my experience. I know cuts can happen and I really didn't have too much of a problem with it, it was more the comment and attitude. Throughout the whole experience her her tone of voice was really harsh when she would tell me to put my hands to cure. Toward the end, she did apologize cause she was telling me repeatedly not to put my hands yet and I wasn't, she was just assuming I was going to do it. It was very strange. I told her I heard her and wasn't going to. She did warm up towards the end and changed her tone, I suppose trying to salvage the experience but that along with the quality of work, left no chance. I've gotten some pretty bad manicures and pedicures in the east bay and today's are the worst of them all. I just want to finish off this review by saying, don't comment on people's bodies because you don't know what they might be dealing with health wise. And now I'm left with ugly unevenly thick french tips on both my feet and nails for close to $200 (yes including tip) For those reading, you might think why didn't you say something? I am not a nail artist, they are. They know what looks good and what doesn't. I really thought they were going to save it at some point and they really rushed through it so fast I really didn't have a chance to take a good look til it was already too late. And at that point I was ready to go home. Also personally, I am not the type of person to micromanage but did feel the need to share my overall experience. Went here recently, I've hardly ever had a good pedicure in my life and they were above and beyond, worth every single cent plus tip, and I usually don't tip for pedicures. This place was so good I had my man send me more money to tip them as they deserved, the pedicure and massage and everything was so good that I had to go home and immediately take a huge 5 hour nap. I could've walked into a cave, and I'd walk out of there beaming with joy. But the decor and cleanliness of their salon is amazing, too! They are so accommodating, friendly, and careful with their work. Damn great leg and foot massage as well! My husband and I both got dip manicures and spa pedicures together, in preparation for our Tahoe ski trip. This was our first time getting dip. I had many questions about it, and Nhi was so helpful explaining how it compares to gel and regular manicures. Even how it can improve the length and strength of my nails! The customer service is A1, and I appreciate that it feels like a personal experience each visit. Long overdue review! I've been going to 17 Jewels Nail Spa since it opened, and have gone to Nhi for years before when she was working from just one chair at the 17 Jewels hair salon. I go every 2-3 weeks, and have gotten regular gel, dip, builder gel, tips, chrome polish, nail art etc. All of my experiences have been great. I appreciate Nhi's attention to detail immensely. She is super precise with my shape preferences and color preferences. She makes good suggestions, and she gives advise on keeping my nails healthy. I've moved from being walking distance to a 20 min drive away and I will still keep coming. She also cares very clearly about the staff and other professionals at the salon. I get pedicures once in a while as well, and everyone has done a great job. Shout outs to Tammy and Nancy. So when I say I'm super critical of my pedicures (especially bc I usually opt for more inclusive (read: $$$+) packages), please believe me. This was my first appointment at 17 Jewels Nail Spa. I came bc of the Yelp reviews & stayed bc of the amazing customer service experience. The wait to be seated in the chair was brief, something I'm not used to & was very pleased about. The chairs were very nice, fancy even, and the overall ambience was bright, & the aesthetic was clean & crisp without being boring. The specialist that saw me was Tammy (I almost didn't put her name out of sheer selfishness lol, but she deserves her flowers) - she was fabulous. Super professional, kind & thorough; she put in work honey, that foot massage! The owner Kieu is super dope, professionally friendly & very attentive to her patrons, too, and genuinely so, not in an overbearing way like at other places I've experienced. Nhi, the other specialist working, was extra cool & friendly, too (she even called me "pretty nails" bc of my manicure ).
