When booking, I was quoted $60 for the one way fare (a 10-15 minute route). It was my only option so what could I do?...When the driver arrived, he informed me that there would be other riders. We waited about 15 min for the other riders. A few things: I wish I had been told there were other riders in the taxi when I booked. As a female traveling alone, that would be nice to know. I wish I had been told that I could have slept in 15 more minutes and just met the taxi when the other riders were going to meet. I thought the $60 quote was for me for the whole van. So when I said I didn't know the others, the driver instructed that I was to pay $60 and then their group was to pay $60. This information was also NOT on the website. I get a text message shortly after being dropped off at the airport saying "please leave us a Google review" so I left my honest review. Mostly pointing out that this taxi service was actually a group shuttle service and it would have been nice to know. And that they need to update their website so travelers know this information....to which the OWNER responded that I should be grateful they picked me up and to stop complaining. So now I am here writing this Yelp review. See pictures for full Google review. DO NOT use this company. Thats all I can say. And look, he responds again...how about instead of being a RUDE person, you take the feedback of "IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO KNOW THIS IN ADVANCE" and update your website or at least COMMUNICATE with your guests that they would 1. Have to wait. 2. There would be other riders. 3. Each group in the van would still have to pay the quoted price. You called me 3 times to confirm my ride but didn't communicate any of this. But we quickly noticed there was a premium tour experience available through Grand Traverse Tours. Their shiny and clean premium vehicles were always parked right at the entrance and their groups were being guided past the lines we stood in by their guide and driver. We knew then that when we returned we would want to be a part of their VIP experience, and that we would want to bring friends with us to enjoy it. INITIAL CONTACT: After reviewing their easy to navigate and well organized homepage we completed an online reservation request. We received a prompt and timely response to confirm availability and were directed to call at our convenience to make a specific reservation. I spoke with the owner Greg and he is terrific to work with. He was happy to answer all of my questions in an unhurried and no pressure manner. His guidance when creating our custom itinerary was much appreciated as he helped us to narrow down the very many choices there are to make sure we found the right tour for our group - which we most certainly did. COST: We were presently surprised to discover that the cost of their tours is very competitive to the more average experiences. In fact, with as few as 6 people we were actually ahead financially and of course enjoyed the VIP experience to boot. DRIVER / GUIDE: Todd arrived early, was professionally dressed, and most pleasant to be around. He knew the wineries as well as you would expect and was happy to share his insights with us. He called the day before to introduce himself as well as the morning of our event just to make sure all was well. He was always there when you needed him and never hard to find. His presence definitely elevated our experience. THE VEHICLE: Our group has all been in similar domestically produced vehicles by Ford and GM and such at one time or another so we were all expecting the ride to be like that of a school bus or airport shuttle - bumpy, noisy, and just adequately comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised by the ride quality and comfort of their Mercedes-Benz A-Style Limousine which rivaled that of the MB sedans - no kidding. It was like gliding on a magic carpet, members of our group made several comments in this regard, myself included. THE VIP EXPERIENCE: As we anticipated our group was dropped and picked up right at the entrance and Todd walked us in and guided us to the front of the lines at each stop. Checking in was effortless and quick. We never felt rushed and our pace was relaxing and fun. SUMMARY: We can hardly wait to return to Traverse City, and when we do we will of course be calling Grand Traverse Tours to help elevate our experience once again.

However, Jack (owner and driver) remained very patient and sensed what we needed immediately. What I liked most is that Jack "read the room" (or the limo). We were all stressed and tired, trying to get someone who is very ill and disabled to the airport. Jack didn't try to make conversation or light of the situation. He helped us get our bags to the checkout counter, helped transfer our ill passenger to a wheelchair and willing to do anything else for us. I highly recommend Charlevoix Taxi and Airport Shuttle. I was told that the cost was a flat rate $80 (includes luggage and 2 people). --On 8-9-13 I called again in the morning and spoke with the dispatcher, Tony, to request that the time be moved up to 4:00 pm [due to flight time changes]. I again provided the address and directions. Now I was told that because I live outside the Charlevoix City limits, the fare was going to be $100. I asked why I had been informed during the first call that the fare was $80 - the female had my exact address including which was in a different town - so she had to have known it was not within the Charlevoix City limits. --I found the dispatcher to be extremely rude; he said I was rude by wanting to change the time of the run to TVC. He wanted to know what time my flight was and I said it was irrelevant. He was nasty. --As payback the dispatcher made sure that the cab was 35 minutes late. We called at 4:00 pm, 4:10 pm, and 4:20 pm - no cab. Each time dispatcher gave us totally bogus information about the location of the cab (e.g., 2.5 miles west of our location). Dispatcher threatened to not have the cab pick us up; dispatcher could not explain why we had been given the wrong fare amount. I would never believe anything this dispatcher says in the future. --The taxi driver was a real "charmer." Told us that his kids were so cute and showed us pictures and how they were sick. Some people will use any way to get a tip.

I know every story has 2 sides, but I find it odd in his opening remarks, he admitted to missing the ferry boat to the mainland that he was required to be on in order to be on time for the Shuttle to bring him back to the Pellston Airport. If you were late, it was your fault. Mackinaw shuttle has consistently bent over backwards to get my son to and from Mackinaw City for 2 summers so he could get to and from work when we were unable to take him. Mackinaw Shuttle is a great family owned business that I have dealt with for years, and I will continue to do so without reservation. I would highly recommend them for your travel needs and any event you need transportation for in Northern Michigan. I would definitely not let one persons admitted tardiness sway your opinion to the negative.
