We loved this place. The property is on the river just below the spillway. This creates a beautiful scene and the sound of water flowing is excellent for creating a calming environment and a great night's sleep. When you arrive, it's almost a b&b experience. You call the staff who lives on site, upstairs. They pop down, show you the room. Make sure you're all set. Provide a 15% discount at a lovely little restaurant, a half a block away. The rooms are well apportioned. The beds are super comfortable. We loved it! Very clean too! The location is great. You have a river and a park on one side and the town on the other side. It's a small town but they have a couple of really good restaurants and are close to skiing, boating, golf, bicycling, kayaking, fishing and every other kind of outdoor activity. Checkout is super simple. If you're happy, you just leave and they email you the completed bill and payment. If you have questions you just give them a call and they'll come down. Stayed here on a recommendation from a co-worker. We wanted to be close to Shorts and Shanty Creek. Could not have been happier with the Stone Waters Inn. Our group of four booked the family suite. It has a kitchen, main room with couch and two chairs then the bedroom with two beds. Nice sized bathroom and a community porch that overlooks the river. The staff is incredibly friendly. Hot tub is outside by the river, and we definitely took advantage of that. It has a pool table and popcorn maker in the lobby. Walking distance to Shorts. Beautiful building, right along the river. Every room is unique. Locking your door is considered strange. I love Bellaire! read more

Let me preface this by saying I am aware we're in a pandemic and businesses may be facing unforeseen challenges. That said, our whole experience with Stone Water's Inn was pretty dismal from beginning to end. We booked a room online last minute for $169 on their own website and were sent an email advising someone would contact us to confirm. That never happened. When we had heard nothing by the next afternoon when we were meant to be leaving we finally ended up calling the Inn ourselves and spoke with someone who sounded really vague. Finally got the booking sorted out and assumed I would be sent a confirmation, check in time details, maybe directions, parking instructions or local information even. We received nothing. Flying blind, we arrived at the Inn at what we assumed would be around check in time only to be met with an empty foyer and a phone with a note saying to call a private number. A woman answered who sounded surprised we were even there and then saw it appropriate to shout down the stairs at us from the next floor asking what room we were in instead of coming down. Had to shout back that we had no idea and she finally appeared...with no mask. Ugh. Then she waves vaguely upstairs and tells us to go on up and that our room is open and the key would be in the door. The whole interaction was unprofessional and just plain unwelcoming...not to mention dangerous considering her lack of mask. There are facilities at the inn (pool table, hot tub etc) but I think they were all closed due to Covid. None of what was available to us was explained at the bizarre check in so just assumed. The room we stayed in left a lot to be desired. Though clean, the decor was tired and mismatched. The bathroom was incredibly tiny, and the shower took maybe 20 minutes to warm up...like, it took so long that we honestly thought we had no hot water. On top of that the shower head was crusty and spat out maybe 3 needles of water and it was almost impossible to get wet, let alone wash my hair. There was only one bedside table which meant one of us had nowhere to put a phone or reading glasses or a glass of water. The only cupboard in the room was full of a tiny folding ironing board that had seen better days and blankets and such which meant there was nowhere to hang clothes. The only chairs in the room were hard outdoor furniture which was super uncomfortable. The beds springs poked into us all night. Not sure a new shower head, mattress, wardrobe nor bedside table we're going to appear instantly if we said something so we just made do. Not a soul was in reception (again) to ask how our stay was or say thank you for staying or wish us safe travels at check out so we just let ourselves out the next morning. If it weren't for the Inn's location on the beautiful river (we discovered there was a lovely deck out back overlooking it on our way out which would have been nice to know) and the super quaint town of Bellaire which is well worth a visit I would only give 1 star. read more

Wow! I am very impressed with our stay at the Stone Waters Inn. It came recommended to us by my parents who stayed before the ownership change and said it was nice but could use some small upgrades. It seems as though the new ownership has made most all of these upgrades. To begin, the booking process was a little weird. I called and the woman who booked me seemed a little lost. I asked about a weekend three weeks in advance and she explained the few options available (ranging from $109 a night to $169). I tried to book the $109 room but after much back and forth, she kept figuring out most everything was booked already so we ended up having to book the fancy Vineyard Suite. When we arrived, the only thing I really didn't like was that there was no staff to greet us but we did call and get a hold of the manager who explained what to do. Our room door was left wide open for us with the key in the knob, which we didn't like at all. We felt really uncomfortable upon first getting into our room - like maybe security was loose and anybody could have come in and done anything to the room first. That was the only part we really were unhappy about. As for everything else, we were amazed. The grounds and building are stunning and everything from the lobby to the room were kept very clean and polished. The lobby had a lounge, pool table, popcorn machine, and a covered patio hangout. The manager welcomed us to bring alcohol or drinks if we'd like and supplied wine glasses and everything. We had a lot of towels and they were very nice quality as well. There was a nice bed, pretty comfy, and lots of blankets. Our room had a fireplace and jacuzzi, which you can imagine, I used right away. There was a mini fridge, a radio, a Keurig coffee maker, and many different other small amenities that were nice. The night was very peaceful and quiet. I loved having a ceiling fan as well. The price, $169 a night, actually was very worth it. We definitely agreed that we didn't want to leave the suite. The only other thing I didn't like was that some of the windows didn't have blinds that would close all the way but that was a very simple fix with a small sheet hung over the middle. We will definitely be back and it is very much worth spending the extra few dollars to pamper yourself for the Vineyard Suite! read more

Found Stone Waters Inn online and picked it for a nights stay based on it's closeness to Short's Brewery which is the reason we were stopping there, and it looked unique. The photos on the website do not do it justice at all. It is so homey and welcoming, really beautiful and the location backed right up to a river is perfect. I was a little in awe when we arrived in town after nightfall and saw how adorable this place and town were, a perfect thriving small town. Lot's of common areas to explore from the lounge and free pool table in the lobby (which comes in handy after Shorts closes) to several decks facing the river along with a hot tub and a gazebo I believe. We stayed in the vineyard suite which was awesome, it had the best view of the river and trees and a door to an upper balcony which was perfect to enjoy my morning cup of coffee. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer because I wanted to live there. :) The owners were also incredibly nice and gave us some other great tips to landmarks and restaurants in nearby towns. (Tunnel of Trees, Legg's Inn) I would stay here every time! read more

Not sure what to expect, we were very pleasantly surprised. This place looks as it has been recently updated. Our room was on the second floor corner. The view of the river was beautiful as was the sunrise this morning. There is a community porch overlooking the river. Also, a hot tub that also overlooked the river. Location was great for us as we we had flown in town to visit the local brewery. Shorts was only a two block walk from the Inn. We would definitely stay here again. read more

Was here on business and needed a price adjustment. Staff was very helpful in getting me closer to my 'budget'. This is a very nice old style inn. I stayed two nights in the Lake Room (or something along those lines) and the room (except maybe the bedding) looked fantastic. The shade of Blue and crown molding on the ceiling was a nice change from popcorn ceilings I typically stare at. There was a older style coke bottle machine that dispensed little bottles of coke for something like 75 Cents. That was nice. Across the street and a stone's throw is a Bar that I believe boasts if has the best burgers. It's not bad of a place at all, I even had Venison for the first time (Seasonal Chili). I don't visit Michigan much (huge Ohio State fan) but my time at this Inn was wonderful. Pros: *Beautiful rooms *Lobby has a few couches and HD (I believe) TV with a pool table, stereo hook up and random books. *Friendly Staff *It's been a few months since my last visit but I do believe they had WiFi that wasn't tampered with (slowed down) and that's always a Pro. Cons: *It's in the state of Michigan. So I'd say book here. It really is a nice place and the staff is pretty kick ass. read more

My wife and I stayed here for three nights in July. Very nice hotel. Room was small (Lakes room), but nicely appointed, clean and with a door to a shared balcony over looking the Cedar River. This was the perfect place to have my morning coffee and read a book. Prices for "in season" are very reasonable, compared to other places to stay in the area. My girlfriend and I stayed here this past weekend, mostly due to the fact that it's a block away from Short's Brewing Company (the reason for our visit). We'd never stayed at a B&B before, and for some reason expected an elderly couple to be running the place and for it to be very stuffy. To the contrary, a younger couple greeted us as we arrived and gave us a quick tour of the place - a river view with a hot tub, commons area with a pool table/stereo/couches/etc. We were welcomed to bring some beer back from Short's and relax in this common area. We stayed in the Garden Room, which included a shared deck on the river - just gorgeous. Everything in the room was satisfactory, albeit a little old lady-ish. There's no doubt that we'll be staying here again! read more

I grew up in Bellaire as a little girl and always thought this place looked so charming from the outside. I had no idea every expectation would be exceeded on the inside. Not only is the staff incredibly friendly and accommodating but the rooms are each so quirky and inviting. The views of the river or downtown are beautiful. You get a wonderful balcony out of each room which is so nice. Everything is perfectly clean. We had an awesome jacuzzi in our room and there is one located outside right by the river as well as a grill and pool table. There's also many different seated areas along the river and the landscaping is beautiful! They tell to to make yourself at home and it truly that feeling. I just absolutely fell in love with the place and we can't wait to go back. We would drive the 4 hours just for this place! I have never wrote a recommendation but I enjoyed my stay so much I feel the need to let everyone know how great this place truly is! read more

Ok, so my girlfriend and myself were taking a Michigan road trip. One of our stops was Charlevoix. It was getting late and we had been on the road for a while and decided that we would call around in the area for some rates(we were really just looking for a hotel with a whirlpool tub). We called Stone Waters Inn and spoke to Heather. She was awesome, not only did we get a last minute room, we also got in my opinion, the best room in the hotel. Everybody was so nice, even the other guests. All can think of is the 'WOW' face my girlfriend had when she walked into our room. It was straight out of a movie kind of hotel room. This turned our weekend road trip into a romantic getaway. Not only will we be going back, we look forward to making this a yearly trip(well, if 'our' room is available). Oh and by the way, did a mention that we were treated like family. By far the best hotel service I have ever received and best hotel room I have evern stayed in. If you happen to be wanting the perfect getaway, this is the place. The town is awesome and the scenary is amazing. read more
