My dog, mochi, always comes out handsome with a bandana and smelling good. Like to see mochi happy after his time at above and beyond. It's about my third or fourth time and I really like how thorough they are and listen to what the owners request. Literally they go above and beyond for their clients. I usually alternate washing him at home but definitely not good at grooming him. I've tried petco and they're never consistent with the cut. Plus, I like how they the dogs arent locked up in a kennel and are free to run around or separated from the small and big dogs. Definitely will keep coming back. read more

Late post but I wanted to share that Brittany and staff did an amazing job with my boys, Pepper and Pippin. I was looking for new groomers for my boys locally since I just moved here from the Midwest. I forgot to tell them that my boys fight each other sharing a kennel; however, they figured that out quickly on their own and was humorous about it despite I forgot to notify them. They definitely go above and beyond! I was in town visiting my dad and my dog was in desperate need of grooming after getting wet from the cali storms. Poor guy was also in need of a serious cut. We dropped him off and they took 4 hours to groom him and although I felt it was a tad long, when I received him I was in shock! It was by far the best I have ever seen him after a grooming experience. I almost went to PetSmart for $55 but would take the extra $10 at above and beyond grooming any day of the week. I'm new to Stockton and a new mom who just didn't have the time or patience to groom or to try to find a new groomer out here for a while. I finally took the much needed time to do some research and came across Above & Beyond. I was definitely interested based off the good reviews so I gave them a call. I believe Brittany answered the phone and off the bat she had great customer service. I wanted to disclose one of my baby's anxiety and the struggle I typically have with him while grooming and she was super sweet about it and open minded. I booked the appointment for my two boys and finally got them a much needed self care day. Upon dropping them off, I took them in separately because my bichon-poo mix has really bad anxiety and my long hair dachshund is very defensive all the time and vocal, so it's better for their nerves and mine to let them walk into a new experience separately. I quickly debriefed Brittany about their mannerisms and she was kind about it. Her energy definitely made me feel comfortable with leaving them there. My boys were done in about 4 hours which is very quick compared to their previous groomer. I walked in and they were sitting calmly, which kind of threw me off. Lol but also a good sign. They look amazing. My bichon-poo was matted and his hair is super thick and hard to manage, Above & Beyond was able to groom him so well and salvage some of his fluff. He loves having his hair shaved down because he gets so hot and my boy looks so handsome and happy. My dachshunds hair was so long that he was sweeping our floors so I asked for him to be cut down smooth with a little fringe left on his tail and he also looks awesome. They're both happy and in good spirits, even if my dachshund has a little bit of an attitude for dropping him off lol, but overall they look great and don't seem to have any grooming trauma. This review is well over due. I needed to find a grooming place close to home and found Above & beyond pet grooming on Yelp. Literally 4 min from my home. Called to make an appointment and explained that it would be my dog's first time getting groomed professionally (shihtzu schnauzer mix). Brittney was very bubbly, professional, and reassuring over the phone. When Beau and I arrived I told her to do whatever she thought was best because he was matted in some areas. She took Beau and the rest was history lol. There were other dogs chilling, laying down, walking around, having a grand time. You can tell all of the dogs love Brittney and are totally comfortable with her. If your dog isn't comfortable with other dogs she has huge play pins for them where they are still allowed to play and relax. The first groomers to capture exactly what I asked for. Ive gone to other groomers in stockton and my Yorkie ends up having these weird long bangs, long straggly pieces, or really long side burns. I always have to ask if they can take more off his face and they seem to have an issue for me asking. Above and beyond accomplished the teddy bear look I was going for. I was unfortunately disappointed by my experience at Above & Beyond and did not find them to live up to their name. I searched for a groomer for months. Most weren't taking new clients and others had poor reviews. When I finally stumbled across this business I was very happy to see their positive reviews. I called to see if they were taking new clients. It took me a few attempts to reach someone. I text twice and never heard back, then ended up calling a couple weeks later. I was happy to find that we could make an appt, and we made one for the following week. Upon our arrival, I found the owner to be incredibly aloof. A surprise considering there was more than one review calling her "bubbly" and "friendly". She was not at all friendly towards me or my dog. I told her what we wanted done in great detail (I have a double coated dog who absolutely cannot be shaved so communicating exactly what we needed done and not done was very important) A good bath, nail trim, sanitary trim, feet trim, ear cleaning and anything else that was included in the price. I emphasized that it was most important to us to have his nails trimmed well, the sanitary trim and removal of any remaining loose coat from his spring blow with any mats worked out. Those are the things that are difficult for me to do. I can bathe him, I can brush him. The trim of nails and sanitary are the parts that he most resists me on. (Not volatile just difficult to wrestle) She told me an approximate time, and also said they would call. I advised her I would also be running another errand at that time that couldn't be moved and would be back before or after that and she agreed. The time passed what she said so I headed that way. When I got there, her and another girl were still working on him (he had been there nearly 5 hours) she was rude saying they weren't done and that she "told me they would call". I said yes but you also told me a time to which she basically rolled her eyes. I waited another 15 or so minutes when she came over to ring me up. She made no attempt to tell me how he did, if there were any concerns etc. I prodded her asking how it was and she said he "didn't like the nail trimmer" then charged me. I paid cash, which she didn't have change for so I was forced to tip her the extra amount. I was not intending on tipping her based upon her crummy attitude towards me. My dog was EXTREMELY reactive for hours after his pick up. My dog is never reactive. He's the most chill, loving, friendly, adaptable and laid back dog. He was completely on edge and irritable. On top of it, he looked exactly the same if not worse. His mane was unbrushable, he still had loose fur all over, he still had a chalk mark on his face from laying in my daughters patio drawing that morning, his hind end (sanitary trim) looked like it had hardly been trimmed at all. When he poops it still gets stuck in the longer pieces. And his hind dew claws weren't trimmed at all. Now, if my dog had been uncooperative, etc I could understand not being able to complete certain tasks, but she said he did "fine" and made no note to me of any issues. I am completely unsatisfied with this business, and would not recommend it to anyone. Trusting your dog in the hands of someone you don't know is difficult on its own, especially when you don't necessarily get a warm/friendly vibe off of them. It's especially frustrating when they end up doing a job that looks exactly like what you do at home, for free. She also failed to put his collar back on him, so I needed to make a special trip back (I'm out of town) the following week to pick it up. If I identified my business as "above and beyond" I would take the extra money she didn't have change for and mail the collar back to the client. Nothing about this place was above and beyond. It should be called "Meh & Below". read more
