I was just cleaning and came across our wedding menu from October 2015. To this day (almost 5 years later) people STILL talk about the food at our wedding! Dan and Silvia were amazing to work with, I remember them very fondly, just really really awesome people. Their serving staff was great as well. They worked with our budget and created an amazing array of hors d'oeuvres, dishes, and a pasta bar. I liked that we were able to try the menu well before the wedding. We had a fall wedding and the ingredients they used reflected this which I liked. I just can not say enough how amazing the food was. I remember my friends joking that the food changed their life. I am a genius. I know this to be true because everyone at our rehearsal dinner told me so. I humbly accepted these accolades but everyone knew the real talent was Dan and Silvia Moss and their Above the Clouds Catering team. They were able to serve dinner and dessert for 36 out of their truck seemingly without breaking a sweat. Beyond that, they delivered a completely customized menu featuring dishes from both Chinese and Irish culinary traditions. Good luck finding another caterer willing to try that. Not only did they deliver, but natives of each country complimented the authenticity and taste as "just like they remembered" from home. Dan and Silvia were delightful to work with during planning and their team worked well on site, both amongst themselves and when engaging our diverse guests. They made me look like a genius. Dan and Silvia (Above the Clouds Catering) recently catered my wedding reception and were absolutely outstanding at making the day a huge success! They were very flexible and very customer-oriented. We had numerous phone calls, 2 site visits (one preliminary and another closer to the event date), and a fabulous tasting. Catering our wedding reception was no easy task, 1) outdoors at a private residence so they had to bring in and basically build a kitchen, 2) 1.5h of passed hors d'oeuvres, 3) plated dinner service for ~130 guests.... and not only did they pull it off, IT WAS INCREDIBLE! So many of our guests commented how fabulous the food was, even going so far as to say, "this is the best meal I've ever had at a wedding, by far!". Since it was a fall wedding, we asked for a seasonal, New England-inspired menu and just let Dan and Silvia's creative juices flow. The menu they created was so well-rounded and hit not only the classics but also some novel ideas too. For passed hors d'oeuvres we had: * Shrimp cocktail * NE clam chowder in demitasse cups * Caramelized onion and apple triangle with fontina on puff pastry * Wild mushroom and boursin cheese in mini pastry cones * Roasted lamb riblets with herb and garlic crust * Smoked duck with spiced maple syrup glaze, microgreens in a corn cup and for the salad/entree: * Baby lettuce and arugula with roasted pumpkin seeds, goat cheese, cranberries with an apple cider vinaigrette * Assorted bread basket with herbed butter * Roasted statler chicken breast with olive oil, dates and garlic over butternut squash risotto with green beans and almonds Are you drooling yet?? One final note, Dan and Silvia also did an amazing job catering to our guests with dietary restrictions. One guest wrote me a very nice note afterwards letting me know how special it was to have a gluten-free plate ready for her at such a large event. Oh, and how could I forget, they even sent us home with 2 VERY LARGE "take home" containers of food, so we got to re-live our wedding night a few times over the following week with some of the best left-overs ever! What a delightful couple (Dan and Silvia) who clearly are branching out their business into weddings. They know a heck of a lot about food and are very willing to customize a menu. In fact, they will not only pour their heart and soul into compiling the very best menu for you, they will go check out the venue, get to know the vendors and come to your home to do a tasting. I gave them instructions to build an asian fusion menu and they were thrilled. They came up with a delicious menu which included lettuce wraps, crispy cashew chicken skewers with a curry dip, lemongrass shrimp with papaya mustard and sticky sweet mango rice. The fiance and I were thoroughly impressed. And they were wiling to work with my budget too. The only problem was that they were not able to give me a price since the cost of food changes and a few years ago, they got screwed over because the price of food skyrocketted for an event that they did. Because I get nervous without a contract and a set price, I eventually went with a different caterer. But when they got back to me, they were able to come in under my budget. But I highly encourage you, if you're the adventurous foodie who doesn't mind if there isn't really a contract or a set price, to email them and find out what they can do (which is a LOT). Above the Clouds catered our 40th anniversary party, which turned out to be everything we hoped it would be. Dan and Silvia arrived promptly at 9am as promised, and had everything under control in our kitchen (which they left spotless at the end of the event). The food was wonderful and beautifully prepared, from appetizers to dessert (we ate a lot of dessert!), and the servers were as nice as could be. They made an effort to get to know everyone and made sure to serve second helpings of everyone's favorites. The Above the Clouds team was so easy to work with, I didn't have to worry about a thing. From our first contact until the day of the event, Silvia and Dan made sure I had everything I needed and were always so pleasant. Here's the best way I can describe my experience with Above the Clouds: Random text from a party guest I barely know, the next morning: "I'm not gonna lie, I dreamt about that food last night." I cannot say enough about how wonderful this company is. From beginning to end, everything was fantastic. Above the Clouds Catering catered a 50th birthday party I had for my husband at my home last weekend. The party was a success because of them. The food was terrific and the actual catering service at the party was fantastic. All my guests were very impressed and praised the food throughout the party. Working with Dan and Sylvia to choose the options in advance was a breeze; as many other reviewers have said, they are very creative and will work with you to make your menu just right. Dan created two appetizers at my suggestion based on foods my husband loves (they were great), and Sylvia's desserts were outstanding. Recently we got married. We searched for the right people to do our catering. We found a fantastic couple Dan and Silvia Moss who run Above the Clouds catering. They were helpful beyond belief, from the planning stages, where they suggested things that we never thought of but would want for our guests, helped with our budget, the logistics of tent, tables/ chairs , linens, and above all the food, to the actual reception where they made the food fresh, put together a fantastic gorgeous wedding cake, and helped clean up the facility. Let me tell you about the food... We wanted something different where we could please everyone. We started our Hor D'oeuvres with tuna tartar on a wonton crisp and wasabi cream, wonderful, we has duck confit crostini with spiced orange syrup, MMMMM, roasted tomato tartlets with mozzarella and basil, deeeelisious, fresh oysters that they shucked right there, fois gras pate with baguette and sea salt. To me this is fancy food but they can whip this stuff up like no other. For our buffet they put together, and I'm no salad guy, this amazing baby spinach salad with watermelon, pistachios, and feta cheese with lemon vinaigrette. On our buffet we had Texas style BBQ brisket, smoked pork, with some amazing horseradish sauce and BBQ sauce soooooooo good. I don't want to bore you with the details of the rest of the food but once we hired these guys every thing they did was seamless and without any worries on our side. You know how great athletes make impossible things look easy - well that's Dan and Silvia in the catering world. Can't say enough good things about Above the Clouds Catering, I would give them 10 stars out of 5, that's how good they are as well as the food they prepare. These folks catered our son's engagement party, with 45 people. I don't think there was a single person at the party who didn't make a point of raving about the food and service. They were very flexible and creative in planning the menu with us, adapting to various preferences and restrictions and making sure there'd be appropriate dishes for everyone. They came almost 3 hours early so everything could be prepared fresh on site, set up in our not especially large or well-equipped kitchen without fuss, and brought all the equipment needed. The food was a series of small plates, mostly served by a walkaround server on a platter, with a few dishes set up at stations. Everything was interesting and a big hit, and it all added up to a great meal, including superb desserts. Just the right amount of food, a small amount left over. Lovely presentations. Service was unobtrusive but very efficient and friendly. They rolled with all the punches gracefully and effectively, including our dog constantly being underfoot, some new food restrictions unexpectedly turning up and requiring some improvised dishes, and a lack of space in our kitchen for piling up all the dirty dishes (they just rolled up their sleeves and cleaned dishes until there was enough room). They stayed through the end, making sure everyone who still wanted to eat was happy, and that all the cooking stuff was cleaned up, and that there were no problems. All told, a terrific food experience that made the party, and we considered it an excellent value considering everything they did. read more

Wow - I recently attended a wedding that was catered by Dan and Silva (Above the Clouds Catering) and the food and service was fantastic! Appetizers were passed around, some flatbread with caramelized onions and prosciutto, little tarts with tomato, mozzarella and basil, brie and apples. Wicked good fresh warm breads and rolls were brought to the tables and cute little butters were put on our plates. By the time dinner was served I was pretty full. But I couldn't pass up the stuffed seafood shells (no idea what was in them but they were great), roasted veggies and potatoes. Passed on the chicken cordon bleu but my tablemates gave it great reviews. Everything was so fresh and tasty. And to top it off a plate full of home made cookies (lemon tarts, linzer cookies (my favorite!) brownies and others) at every table. The wedding cake was unbelievable, a three tier black and white topsy turvey with different angles - wow, beautiful and wicked good. The food at this wedding was so different than other weddings I've been to - everything just tasted great and very fresh. Good portions too. A To Go box would have been nice! read more

I found their balance of offering suggestions and encouraging our input INCREDIBLY helpful as I tried to make our wedding our own and navigate a million decisions in the wedding planning process. They were professional, but also very personable, and always available when I had questions leading up to and during the party. After attending countless weddings over the past few years, it became very clear to my wife and I that when planning our own special day a "normal" event was not what we wanted. Years of working in the restaurant business, and a guest list much the same, left us feeling that the traditional sit down style wedding wouldn't have left much room for creativity. We had thought it would be easy to find a caterer that shared our vision, but after many uninspired meetings with potential companies only willing to push out cookie cutter events, we began to lose hope. That is until we met Dan and Sylvia from Above the Clouds. From our very first meeting with them, they seemed not only to understand what we wanted to accomplish at our reception, but to genuinely share in our excitement in planning it. They were incredibly organized, and helpful during the menu development process. Even going so far as to accommodate us during the tasting by traveling to meet at a friend's home, because we were from out of town. By the time our wedding day came around we had total confidence that the food would be amazing. The quality of their ingredients, the artful presentation and their attention to detail was worthy of any fine dining restaurant. Not only was the wedding meal delicious but the desserts were just as good! Since the format of our wedding consisted of passed small plates and hors d'oeuvres there was significantly more work for the caterers as they needed to send out over ten courses. Dan and Sylvia pulled off the dinner service without a hitch, were able to adapt to the flow of the evening and execute each course with consistency. Their staff was incredibly courteous and attentive to our guests, and worked extremely hard to ensure everyone had a great time. Several guests told us that it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. Dan and Sylvia are kind, a pleasure to work with and played a huge part in making our nontraditional wedding a wonderful and memorable day.
