Back in late August, my cousin hosted an outdoor graduation party for both her children..one had just gotten his bachelor's degree and the other her master's degree. She hired Sensational Paella to cater the event and it was an inspired and terrific choice. First of all having paella was a welcome and unique departure from what might have been the more usual outdoor barbecue food. Nothing wrong with that; we love good barbecue. But having paella was not only delicious but super entertaining and fun as the guests got to watch the two chefs cooking. Secondly, this paella is delicious and Sensational Paella has a number of types certain to please most. My cousin chose 3 types of paella to be served: seafood, vegetarian and Paella Campesino which was a country style meat paella. I tasted each of them and they were all delicious. My favorite perhaps was the seafood paella. The food was just beautiful to behold...the colors and textures made everything look like works of art. As the saying goes, we eat first with our eyes before we even taste the food and the food visuals here were spectacular. The chefs work with these enormous and traditional paella pans. I'm a fan of kitchen wares and of course now I want my own (smaller) version. It seems authenticity is important to this company which I appreciate. The chefs were friendly and accommodating particularly with a crowd of people wandering about the garden eager to watch them cook. It was almost a magical experience. The party was a great success for many reasons but certainly the food, its presentation and the culinary showmanship of the Sensational Paella staff were big parts of making an already special day even more special, interesting, interactive and fun. We ordered Paella for a Boston Harbor cruise on Massachusetts Bay Lines last Sunday and it was an absolute hit! With our Minnesota group, almost none had tried paella before. It was a beautiful display and even better to consume. Julian and his team were great to work with and accommodated every last minute detail as well. I can't say enough great things about Sensational Paella. From the start we knew we wanted our food to be different than the typical plated wedding meal. I work in the food industry, so it was really important to me that we WOW our 150+ guests with something truly special. When I stumbled across Sensational Paella, I knew we had found exactly that--something truly special. Julian, his wife, and the entire crew treated us like family from start to finish. They always seemed genuinely excited to be working with us, and truly committed to providing a great experience for our guests. On the day of, they did such a phenomenal job of getting everything set up and sticking to our timeline, and I've never seen a faster and more efficient event breakdown -- the hall looked pristine not even 20 minutes after all the guests left. Then, of course there was the food. FREAKING AMAZING. Our guests couldn't stop telling us how amazing the paella was; so many people told us it was the best food they ever had at a wedding, which meant the world to us. There was more than enough paella for all our guests to have as much as they wanted AND for us to still take home three big tray fulls of paella. We opted for four different paellas on our buffet: the paella mixta (meat and seafood), seafood paella, meat paella, and veg paella--which was an awesome selection that naturally catered to guests with food restrictions or allergies without compromising on a great meal. The whole team at Sensational Paella went above and beyond for us, making sure we got a sample of the charcuterie platter all to ourselves, and bringing us plates of food right at the beginning of dinner. They even brought in and stacked all the chairs from our outdoor ceremony during dinner, which was really kind and saved us so much time at the end of the night. I couldn't recommend Sensational Paella more. If you want something unique that will really wow your guests, you cannot possibly go wrong with Julian and his team. Sensational Paella was phenomenal, not only to work with us but of course because their food is outstanding. I am fairly picky and have absolutely no complaints about any of the food we ate or that Sensational Paella served at our welcome party, the day before our wedding. I'm so glad we had them cater our welcome party so our guests could experience authentic paella (both of my parents are from Latin America and my grandfather is Spanish) so it was very important to us to not only incorporate the heritage component but that it also be delicious. If we could have we would have used them to cater our wedding family style instead, but our venue required us to use their caterer. So we used them for our welcome party instead. We hired a paella caterer in Miami, for a prior family event, and they didn't come close to what we ate from Sensational, his ingredients were so fresh and top quality it made a big difference in the final product we received. We had leftovers and our friends and family are huge eaters/drinkers so I was also happy that we didn't have to worry about their not being enough food. We had extra which we took home and ate the day after our wedding. It is so good a couple of days later too! They were on time, the food was ready on time they even made a custom dish for us, as the bride and groom, in a mini paella platter that made us feel so special! They even customized our playlist so as to go with the them of our welcome party. Really, I am so fortunate to have worked with them. All of our guests still rave about how delicious it was and the best food they had eaten. My only regret is not having eaten more of it that night! It was the night before my wedding so I couldn't quite eat my heart out :-) But we have a tray in the freezer so I'll get a chance to relive the delicious meal all over again. And the homemade cookies were awesome! Unique flavors and a nice way to offer something different from your typical dessert options from other caterers. read more

I'm a wedding photographer myself so I've been to, and eaten, A LOT of different wedding meals. For our own wedding I wanted something more adventurous, something that spoke to the foodie in me, and an experience my guests would remember for the rest of their lives. I can hole heartily say that Sensational Paella is THE BEST. We've been to Barcelona and indulged in many paella dishes. Julian's Sensation Paella was just as authentic as the paella you'd find it in Spain. I'm drooling just thinking about it... Aside from the mouth watering food and incredible aroma that filled the room, Julian and his team worked flawlessly to accommodate all the unique elements of our wedding day. For example, it was pouring, raining cats and dogs, the entire day of our wedding. But Julian showed up and reassured us that bad weather wouldn't ruin our day - or the food. It turned out better than I could have ever imagined. Julian and the Sensational Paella team did an absolutely phenomenal job at our wedding! We wanted to do something a bit different for our food, and we were pretty much sold when we found Sensational Paella. They completely delivered! I had one specific request for any caterer we hired- a nacho bar for the appetizer, (not exactly in the usual paella menu). Not only did Julian and his staff do a nacho bar, they served probably the best nachos we've ever had. The paella was also absolutely delicious. Our guests were blown away by the food itself and the cooking spectacle. Julian is very responsive and enthusiastic- exactly what you want in a wedding vendor. We are very grateful that Sensational Paella was able to make the trip to Western Mass for our wedding. They served memorable, beautiful, and delicious food, and they were easy to work with throughout the process.
