    Beer and breakfast sandwich
    Stephanie L.

One Sunday morning we planned to meet friends for brunch in Ridgewood with disastrous results. Every place we went to had either a buy out or had their cook or bartender call out that morning. Starving and thirsty- we saw Abracadabra Magic Diner and thought we found the solution for our problems. The diner is incredibly cute with plants and kitschy decor. Our group ordered at the counter and saved a table. The service was just strange. Staff were perfectly pleasant and welcoming but the one staff member who was processing orders insisted that they were out of one order request from each party member. Another staff member who I think might have been a cook or barista then would correct that staff member and insist that they had that item. It happened for every order in our four person group. We ordered what we had came in for and almost all of it was delivered to the table. One item that we ordered was totally left off when reviewing the receipt and we just left rather than to reorder. My food and drink was fine. I had a breakfast sandwich and a beer. Others in my group did not enjoy the chai or coffee. I'm just glad they were open and we were able to eat after such a clearly chaotic morning in the service industry.

This place was definitely not worth the trek to Ridgewood. We weren't sure what to expect of a place described as having diner food and Turkish food and great vegan options. In reality, it's more of a coffee shop that happens to serve some average hot food items with below average service. The person who took our order was pretty uninformed about the menu items and unmotivated to find the answers to our questions. The drip coffee was pretty good, and the food wasn't bad, just kind of boring and overpriced. They didn't even have very many vegan breakfast food options such as pancakes or French toast. We do not hesitate to travel for truly great food (e.g. Smile of the Beyond in Jamaica), but Abracadabra definitely did not make the cut.

Cute place. Healthy food, a lot of vegetarian and gluten free options. Service not so great. You order at the counter, the. Take a number and put it on your table so they can deliver your order . They brought my companion her tea and entre, but never gave me my hot beverage. So eventually I asked for it and it was brought after a while, not hot , but lukewarm . No apology for forgetting my drink. I got the GF banana bread, asked if they might warm it up a little , since they told me to take it from the refrigerated section. She hesitated and Clearly she didn't want to, so I didn't push it. Banana bread was a little dry. Like I stated, it was a cute place, the food was ok. Parking on the street.

Food. Service Ambiance Great quirky neighborhood spot. Oh- and TURKISH coffee Come. Enjoy. You won't be disappointed

Not much chicken for 16 dollars. A few pieces are hidden under the salad but small portions overall.

Interesting menu and decent place to hang out, but the prices are out of control and the portions are laughable. I got the chicken Tikka bowl for 16 dollars plus tax and tip and it had a tiny amount of actual chicken. Don't come here if you're hungry.

Great addition to the neighborhood! Love this place for food and smoothies. They also have a lions mane chocolate in the freezer for grab and go that is amazing! Cool decor inside and outside. Service was quick and friendly!

The floral displays are fun and are probably the highlight of the visit. The space is clearly designed for photos, and I can see why it would be popular for birthdays, showers, or other special occasions. They seem to go the extra mile when it comes to creating a celebratory atmosphere. Service was excellent from start to finish. The staff at reception and at the table were attentive, friendly, and welcoming. Food-wise, we tried the Kung Pao calamari and wagyu meatballs after seeing other reviewers rave about them, but both felt a little gimmicky to me. Our group mostly stuck with more traditional brunch items, including breakfast burritos and omelettes, and those were fine. Overall, I would not necessarily come here just for the food, but I would recommend it for the atmosphere, service, and special-occasion vibe. It is a great spot if you want a pretty setting, good hospitality, and plenty of photo-friendly areas.

Seriously it's like walking back into the 90s in Ridgewood. I'm not gonna lie, I had high expectations for being a bespoke southern breakfast sandwich shop because I like my morning flavors savory. They had some fun ideas like a cheese something biscuit whatever but I wouldn't know cause they gave me the wrong sandwich. It was busy so I didn't bother mentioning it... but this place always seemed busy, so maybe they should be used to it? Anywho, I ended up with two of their classic BEC and it was pretty standard and kind of a letdown for Southern. They also make a MEAN bundt cake that I forgot to take a pic of. My ONLY hiccup with them is their wait time. Called in my order 20 minutes before I arrived and still waited an additional 30 minutes once I got there smh.... But don't worry I'll be back lol Ambiance is like a local coffee shop. Literally a Corner Shoppe lol.

I had a group dinner here for my parents and my boyfriend's mother to meet for the first time. This is perhaps not the perfect location for this type of thing, as it was extremely loud in the restaurant. Despite being very busy, the hostess made sure we had a comfortable table to sit at and were not too cramped. As expected, the beer selection is great and I enjoyed my Berliner Weisse very much. I ordered the goulash and kasespaetzle. The goulash was rich, well seasoned and filling. The spaetzle was soft and creamy, covered in lots of flavorful aged cheese with salty bacon bits and sweet onion. A very rich dish. Although I didn't technically order an entree, I still found myself pleasantly full at the end of the meal. The rest of my dining companions ordered either the schnitzel or the wurstplatte. All seemed very pleased with their food, and some even had leftovers to bring home due to large portions. This restaurant is certainly a fun spot to come, reservations recommended. There's a reason they've been open for so long.
