Hefty serving good portion of salmon. Croissant French toast 8.5/10. It had a great crisp to it. And airy bite. Totally loved it. Shakshuka wasn't the standard style. I want to like this place but I honor cannot justify dropping another dime here. It's super dirty, pricey, shoddy service. The staff have no clue about the menu. The guy at the counter yesterday was sweet, but was brand new so was unsure what were some of the ingredients were etc.... someone came out of the kitchen to hand us our food. My son said, "thank you so much." And the man pretty much shoved the bag at us and said nothing back. I'm giving 2 stars because the food was good. It's just coming from people who do not seem to want to be there. Note: I worked in the service industry for many Years in New York. I am always polite and a generous tipper. One Sunday morning we planned to meet friends for brunch in Ridgewood with disastrous results. Every place we went to had either a buy out or had their cook or bartender call out that morning. Starving and thirsty- we saw Abracadabra Magic Diner and thought we found the solution for our problems. The diner is incredibly cute with plants and kitschy decor. Our group ordered at the counter and saved a table. The service was just strange. Staff were perfectly pleasant and welcoming but the one staff member who was processing orders insisted that they were out of one order request from each party member. Another staff member who I think might have been a cook or barista then would correct that staff member and insist that they had that item. It happened for every order in our four person group. We ordered what we had came in for and almost all of it was delivered to the table. One item that we ordered was totally left off when reviewing the receipt and we just left rather than to reorder. My food and drink was fine. I had a breakfast sandwich and a beer. Others in my group did not enjoy the chai or coffee. I'm just glad they were open and we were able to eat after such a clearly chaotic morning in the service industry. read more

This place was definitely not worth the trek to Ridgewood. We weren't sure what to expect of a place described as having diner food and Turkish food and great vegan options. In reality, it's more of a coffee shop that happens to serve some average hot food items with below average service. The person who took our order was pretty uninformed about the menu items and unmotivated to find the answers to our questions. The drip coffee was pretty good, and the food wasn't bad, just kind of boring and overpriced. They didn't even have very many vegan breakfast food options such as pancakes or French toast. We do not hesitate to travel for truly great food (e.g. Smile of the Beyond in Jamaica), but Abracadabra definitely did not make the cut. read more

They brought my companion her tea and entre, but never gave me my hot beverage. So eventually I asked for it and it was brought after a while, not hot , but lukewarm . No apology for forgetting my drink. I got the GF banana bread, asked if they might warm it up a little , since they told me to take it from the refrigerated section. Omg this is the cutest spot! I absolutely love the decor and attention to detail. I got the Turkish coffee and it was served in the sweetest dish with a Turkish delight on the side (and it was a very good Turkish delight at that). Ordered delivery through UBER Eats, but when my order never arrived by the time it was supposed to I called the restuarant. They told me that they'd stopped deliveries for that evening, which was never reflected on the app, and that I should just deal with UBER. I've ordered from here before, the food is fine. It's just uppsetting that they knew they had stopped deliveries for the evening, but didn't cancel my order or try to contact me in anyway. read more

I enjoyed brunch with my niece on a weekend tip to see her in NYC. The ambiance is charming, the food is delicious, and I was very impressed with the variety of gluten-free and vegan take-out offerings. My only improvement would be to have some half and half available for people who are drinking English Breakfast or Early Grey tea. I live in suburban NJ and it is a joy to visit restaurants that are so individual and unique. Even the bathroom has a special red glow about it!! read more

EXTREMELY RUDE STAFF! The older lady that helped me was extremely rude and passive aggressive and just was obviously not concerned with customer service. Not to mention, the food and drinks are overpriced and are not at all worth it. You can eat inside or outside. You place your order, they will give you a number and then find a seat. Love the decor. I have been to this place several times and their food is decent. They have a baker that brings in products and there's a guy in the kitchen has been there for several years. I sometimes order from the menu, but mostly get the sweets that are outsourced. The owners had my original review removed. They are now being investigated by the DOL. "I'm not sure why this place has received such great reviews after they were accused of not giving tips to their employees. Is someone being incentivized? If you notice on google reviews the ratings were far lower until they were reported for wage theft. New York Department of Labor has received all supporting documentation regarding this matter.
