The panzerotti was def worth it! We had the baked one and just added pepperoni. We added the tomato sauce but not a must. Sadly the special pizza was nothing to write home about as it was a bit soggy. Would go back for the panzerroti and try the fried one next time but not likely for the pizza.

My boyfriend has been talking about Abruzzo Pizza for so long, so we finally made the trip, and now I get why it's such a Richmond Hill classic. We split a few things to try a bit of everything. The Abruzzo's Special Pizza was loaded with toppings: pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, and bacon. The crust had that perfect balance of crispy and chewy, and you can tell they use quality ingredients. It felt like something made in a real Italian kitchen, not just tossed together. We also got the fried panzerotto (because apparently according to my boyfriend, it HAS to be fried) and added a side of meat sauce for dipping. This might've been my favourite part--crispy on the outside, melty on the inside, and that meat sauce was rich and flavourful. So satisfying. The only thing that didn't hit for me was the tiramisu. It was store-bought and came out half frozen, which was a bit disappointing... definitely not what we were expecting. Prices are a bit higher compared to your typical franchise pizza places, but honestly, you're getting a solid, home-style Italian meal. It's the kind of spot that's worth indulging in once in a while. Glad my boyfriend finally convinced me to try it!

    Great "Special Pizza". Tastes amazing!

I decided to try Abruzzo Pizza again after a previous bad experience , (and), I was in the area. Boy, Am I glad I did!!!! The picture I posted does not do Abruzzo justice. (Plus it's missing a slice in my tummy, lol) This special pizza as Abruzzo calls it was exquisite, the flavour profile from the sauce to the crust to the very fresh flavourful toppings was beyond satisfaction!! I was very impressed with the total experience of this pizza. This is why I am changing my previous reviews to now an ecstatic 5 stars. I will definitely be back again to Abruzzo pizzeria again in the near future.

Ambiance: not much, but this is a must visit when in the area. Customers are walking in & out constantly, this is a busy place Pizza: Cheese - thin crust , floppy pizza. It is best advised to be eaten fresh when its hot. The crust is not too doughy (thin). The sauce is very prominent Service: friendly staff

The people who work there are all amazing and I have nothing negative to say about any of them. All the staff are courteous and friendly. However, the quality of their pizza disappointed me. Primarily, it's the dough that was of low quality and very stiff as opposed to the soft and chewy dough at Pizzeria Badiali, The Good Son, Annette Food Market, or Gusto 101. Thinly sliced mushrooms were uncooked. Tomato paste seemed to be of the cheapest quality possible. Overall, a negative experience I'm sorry, Abruzzo, but I won't be ordering again from you.

I'm not the best at taking pictures of food before eating some of it - This is delicious pizza, i always get tinge pepperoni. I would say it's not consistent, but when it's good ITS GOOD. Great undercarriage and plenty of toppings. For the price - worth, but I wouldn't say everytime. Great stuff regardless. I recommend getting garlic flakes. 8.1

    Famous delivery box!

We ordered delivery from Abruzzo on a Saturday as Pizza Pizza's call line was taking forever and the controversy over the minimum wage for Dominos delivery drivers. Perhaps this wasn't a great night, but for $42.00 we would expect a bit more from a beloved pizza establishment. A bit on the oily side, the cheese was bland, the toppings sparse, and the crust somewhat overcooked. However, although comparatively overpriced to other local establishments, one would expect more love for their product. Dont get me wrong, Abruzzo is a fixture in the community, often supplying the public schools for Pizza days (not sure they still do), but on this particular experience for the price was a bit of a disappointment. In the future, I would likely want to try their other fare like pasta, salads and garlic bread. I think there are also coupons that should be researched so to get a bit of a discount. -Zuk

Visited here about a month ago for take out. Got a deep fried panzerotti, turned out a floppy soggy mess. Deep fried means it should be crispy. Felt like I was eating oiled bread. Clearly the oil was not hot enough and they looked at it and still approved for it to be served. Highly disappointed.

Unfortunately, Abruzzo Pizza did not live up to the hype. I really wanted to love this pizza place but it wasn't very good. We had the Abruzzo special which sounded good but when we picked it up the pizza was cold (warm at best). For such a high price I expected the pizza to be hot and fresh. They told us to come pick it up in 30-40 minutes but it was clearly cooked well in advanced. Overall the price is too expensive and the pizza was too cold. This place could be a 5 star if they made hotter pizza at a reasonable price.

Not my first visit to Scaddabush Richmond Hill, but it had been quite some time since my last one…read more This return visit ended up being memorable for a few unexpected mishaps, though thankfully the overall experience was still a positive one. I called the day before right when they opened to make a reservation since the online system showed no availability. The staff member who took my call was incredibly friendly and thorough. In addition to the usual questions about party size, time, name, and phone number, they also asked how many children would be joining us, whether anyone had allergies, if we were celebrating a special occasion, and informed me in advance about the automatic gratuity for larger parties as well as the two-hour seating limit. I really appreciated how comprehensive they were. Fast forward to dinner... Parking in the plaza was absolute chaos. It took us quite a while to find spots, though that's not entirely surprising given how many popular restaurants are in the plaza. I'm sure the FIFA match that evening didn't help either. We were seated at what I'd describe as a "cozy" table. It wasn't cramped, but it definitely felt snug for our group. Thankfully, it ended up working out because we were sharing most dishes and the staff were fantastic about promptly clearing empty plates as we finished sharing dishes. We started with the Caesar salad, the Prosciutto & Mozzarella, and a Three Meat Pizza. The Caesar salad was well dressed with great flavour, while the mozzarella was, as always, a crowd favourite. I was pleasantly surprised by the focaccia, which was much crispier than I was expecting (I've never had it toasted like that before), with a wonderfully buttery flavour. The pizza was also excellent, not overly salty, with a chewy crust and a perfectly crisp exterior. For my main, I ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese, which was delicious. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, the sauce was well balanced, and nothing was overly salty. I also ordered the Rosemary Garlic Fries, which were tasty, although I do wish they had served a bit more aioli since that's what really elevates the dish. I also stole a few bites of other entrées around the table. The Vodka Pasta wasn't what I'd consider a traditional vodka sauce, as it leaned much more toward a creamy Alfredo, but it had a nice kick of spice. The standout for me, however, was the Shrimp Lemon Pasta. It was absolutely delicious, and I'd easily order that as my main on my next visit. Since we were celebrating my aunt's birthday, the staff surprised her with a chocolate cake topped with colourful sprinkles and a sparkler. It was such a thoughtful gesture and a lovely way to end the meal. Now for the memorable mishaps. The most alarming occurred when an employee accidentally knocked over one of the decorative jars filled with beans. It shattered as soon as it hit the floor, sending glass and beans underneath our table. We stayed still because we knew shards had scattered around our feet, and I was wearing shorts, so I could actually feel some of the debris around my legs. My biggest concern came when my mom mentioned she felt something brush against her neck, but thankfully she wasn't injured. The employee was incredibly apologetic and immediately stayed behind to thoroughly clean everything up. We all stepped away from the table to make sure every piece of glass could be safely swept up before sitting back down. The second near mishap happened when our server returned carrying full glass bottles of water. One slipped from her hand and hit the table, but thankfully she managed to keep hold of it before it shattered or knocked anything over. Despite those unexpected moments, our server was wonderful throughout the evening. She was attentive, friendly, and especially diligent about ensuring the allergy at our table was handled appropriately. Accidents happen, and while these certainly made for a memorable dinner, I appreciated how professionally the staff handled each situation and how well they continued to take care of us afterward.

The tables were already set up nicely for our group, which made the whole dinner feel warm and homey right from the start. We started with a portioned antipasto plate with prosciutto, cheese, and some grilled veggies. Simple, fresh, and a nice way to ease into the meal. The pasta course came out next, and it was half penne with tomato sauce and half of a half-moon stuffed pasta filled with spinach and ricotta. My boyfriend and I both found the pasta a little bland for our liking... just needed a tiny pinch of salt to bring everything together. Then came the meat course: chicken with mushroom sauce and veggies. It was alright, but I'm not the biggest fan of chicken so I ended up packing mine home. Dessert was probably the most unique part of the night, Neapolitan ice cream wrapped in a cookie-like shell. By the time it came we were so full, so my boyfriend and I shared one. Overall, it was a nice family dinner. The food definitely has that homemade, cooked-with-love feel. The only thing was the pacing... service was quite slow. Even my boyfriend (who's Italian and very used to long meals) said this level of slow wasn't normal. If you're coming with a group, just be prepared for a longer, slower dinner.

We made a semi-last-minute reservation the day before Father's Day weekend for a party of seven at 6:00 PM on a Saturday. Surprisingly, it wasn't very busy during our visit, aside from one larger group and a few couples, the dining room remained fairly quiet. The restaurant itself is quite spacious, though only about half of the venue is dedicated to dining. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance between casual and upscale. It's not fine dining, but it's polished enough for a date night or celebration while still being comfortable for casual attire. Service was provided primarily by two servers throughout our meal. They were friendly, attentive, and consistently kept our water glasses topped up without being intrusive. The food was enjoyable, though not the best I've had at this price point. That said, it's a solid option for the area. The grilled calamari appetizer was cooked well, being tender rather than chewy, and nicely seasoned without being overly salty. The kale salad was a pleasant surprise, featuring a fresh, homemade-tasting dressing that complemented the kale perfectly without any bitterness. The garlic bread was absolutely loaded with garlic, which I loved, though it was softer than expected and could have benefited from a bit more toasting. For my main, I ordered the mushroom truffle pasta. The pasta was cooked al dente, and the generous amount of mushrooms was a highlight. Around the table, the spicy chicken rosé pasta was well received, though the spice level was quite mild. I recommend asking for their chili oil for an added kick. The aged striploin was cooked medium as requested, tender throughout, with nicely crisped edges. The accompanying truffle fries and truffle aioli were delicious. The clam linguine had good flavour but could have used a bit more sauce. The branzino was the surprise of the evening, as it arrived as a whole fish, which wasn't what we expected in this type of setting. While flavorful, it required navigating quite a few bones (wouldn't really recommend it for this reason, not the classiest dish to eat). Dessert was a mixed experience. The banana pudding was unfortunately a miss, with an unusual stretchy texture and an overly sweet flavour profile. In contrast, the house-made pistachio tiramisu was outstanding and easily the standout dessert of the meal. It's a must-order. The restaurant was clean and thoughtfully decorated, and the washrooms were well maintained. I especially appreciated the complimentary mouthwash, a small but memorable touch that added to the overall experience. Note: They change their menu from time to time!
