An actual god-send during the stay at home order! My family's favorite meal is sushi or poke, so we've been craving raw fish, hardcore. With all the sushi and poke places closed, we thought we'd have to wait until SIP was over to enjoy our favorite food once more. Thankfully, we were introduced to ABS Seafood. They normally only supply restaurants, but with SIP, they've extended their clientele to include individuals. My family has been ordering tuna, salmon, and shrimp from them every two weeks. Their quality exceeds five stars. The tuna and salmon melt in your mouth, and the shrimp is tender and juicy. We also tried the black cod one time, and it was wonderful!!! Sadly, Pier 45 (where ABS is located) just experienced a fire, so I'm not sure how that will affect their product. Given some of the very negative reviews over the ordering and delivery process, I was a bit worried and thought/researched quite a bit before placing my online order. My experience was great throughout the entire process, from placing the online order, receiving confirmation, delivery and quality of the products. The only bummer was they were out of uni which was the single main product I really wanted to get. That's not their fault though. I'll just have to try some other time. My delivery arrived in the afternoon in perfect condition. As you can see from the photos, they were packaged very well with plenty of ice and great insulation to keep the products cold and fresh. I ordered Hokkaido Scallops (Frozen, 41/50 per pack) 2.20lb, Mongo Ika/Prepared Cuttlefish (Frozen, 16-18 pcs), New Zealand Wild Greenshell Mussels (Frozen, 1/2 Shell): 2.00lb,Tobiko orange(Frozen, 1.1 lb Pack). We broiled it with a Miso marinade and it was amazing. -Tobiko YUZU: 10/10. Unique flavor; could eat this everyday. -Sushi Ebi (shrimp): 6/10. Butterfly cooked shrimp. -Unagi Kabayaki/Grilled Eel: 9/10. The sauce is perfectly balanced; not too sweet. You also get a big piece of eel. -Umimasu Shioyaki Salted Trout: 8/10. One star for the fire that occurred at the pier. Five stars for opening to the public and delivering during sheltering place! I wouldn't have stumbled on this place had it not been for my hangry desire for deliciously fresh sushi. Not too many places are open in my area for Japanese and if they are, I'm just too damn lazy these days to get my butt in a car to drive there. The website is super simple and easy. Best part is you place your order the day before. BAM the next day a friendly delivery guy leaves your precious loot at your door while he's safely walking away from your house. I ordered salmon kama, kanpachi fillet, sea bass fillet and day boat scallops. It was all packed in a cooler as if you were picking it up from a fisherman. They were sashimi graded and needed to be sliced and devoured. I grilled the kamas and all of these was tasty and fresh! I loved the convenience of fresh fish delivered to my door. What fresh excellent quality fish! So glad they opened up to consumers during these crazy shelter in place times. We got the big eye tuna, albacore tuna, ogo, shrimp, & squid. The tunas were amazing. ABS Seafood has the best sashimi grade fish in the Bay Area! They recently upgraded their online shopping experience and now it is even easier to shop on their site. So far we have ordered all of their salmon offerings (Ora King, Steelhead, Atlantic and Wild Isles) and the quality is superb. The fish is very fatty and juicy, perfect for pan frying with some butter. I have also been making nigiri and sushi rolls with the fish and I really hope they continue to sell directly to consumers after the SIP is over. Their Alaskan halibut is very soft, buttery and flaky and I really enjoyed the Petra Sole. We have never had any issues with delivery and luckily ABS is able to deliver all the way to San Jose. The fish comes in a cardboard box with dry ice inside so you don't have to worry about it going bad. Thank you ABS Seafood, you guys rock! read more

Initially, they weren't able to deliver my fish on time as advertised on their site and in my order confirmation. But they were considerate and delivered the next day (not a business day for them), which I really appreciated. The fish I ordered included maguro, sake, and ikura. All were super fresh and super tasty. I haven't had the chance to cook the cod yet. It's not often that you can order directly from a fish market that distributes to sushi bars. The price is almost half to what you'd pay at a sushi bar. But the taste is just as good. 5 stars! read more

If I had known what I was going to get, I would not had purchased it. I seen it as a pretty good deal on Groupon. After delaying and buying my oysters, the each dozen oyster came out to be the size of a bag of M&M. My 3 dozen oyster came out smaller than a McDonald's bag. A major disappointment.. read more

If you are wondering whether their fish is truly sashimi quality, IT IS!! I was a bit hesitant - I'm a lucky duck who has been to Tsukiji Fish Market in Japan which has spoiled me (will no longer eat second rate fish). All 4 fish that I bought were truly superb - fresh and flavorful, not even a hint of fishiness. Like eating at your favorite sushi restaurant, only you get lots of pieces instead of just 2. One of the few great things to come out of this whole covid craziness is ABS selling to consumers. All of the sashimi grade items ive had were all incredibly fresh. Customer service is knowledgeable about their products and answered all my preparation questions. They also refunded me when they made a pricing error even when i told them it was not necessary. Their hokkaido scallops are amazing; better than my local goto sushi restaurant. Typically good quality fish except my last delivery, I got 2 pound tuna but one pound was bad / old / not fresh and the fish has already changed color - that piece of fish should never have been delivered- I threw it out ... $25 worth of fish went from the delivery box into the trash. My wife's coworker highly recommended this place because of the fresh seafood and she has been craving Sashimi so I thought why not, let's give it a try. We ordered on Friday and in the morning, we saw our order has been prepared so we were eager to wait for the food by dinner time. Dinner came and went, nothing, not a phone call to explain. We contacted them asking for a refund because we don't want "fresh" seafood that has been sitting out for a whole day. Sunday came, a guy whose name is John Ellis called and said hey, I delivered your stuff to a wrong address, if you wanted it, go to that address and get it. He said he left the seafood on the front porch. I told him my car is in the shop and I couldn't go there to get it. Plus, I'm not going to randomly go to someone's front porch and get stuff from there. This is what he said "well too bad, if you want it you know where it is". Great service! 5 stars! I asked what happened and she said "oh this stupid guy " I then said may I have your insurance she gave it to me. NEVER ASKED FOR MY INSURANCE !!!! No apology. No liability. The sashimi combo order I received and the order my friend received on the SAME day looked completely DIFFERENT. His looked fresh and of good quality and size. Mine looked small and unfresh. Quite an overdue review, the quality of the product here is as good as your going to get in San Francisco, if you want a higher quality product your going to have to go to Tsukiji,Japan (btw I believe they get many of their product from there which goes to show their dedication to their product). Prices are reasonable and staff is amazing. I placed an order and was about to go to pick it up the next day when the phone rang. It was Jessica from I Love Blue Sea. Oops, so sorry there's been a mix up and we don't have the crab you ordered. I hope that doesn't mess your plans up too much.
