5/5 Highly Recommend We booked two private tours with Absolute Adventures: first the Tulum Ruins, Swim with Turtles and Mexican Lunch on a Monday and then the Two Cenote and Mexican Lunch on Wednesday. For Tulum and Turtles our tour guide was Luis and our driver was Rodrigo. For the Cenotes, our tour guide was Arturo and our driver was Enrique. Both guides were exceptional and both drivers took good care of us. Booking online was simple and their communication about the tours, both confirming the tours before we left home and same day communication about pickup, was excellent. Our hotel turned out to be a headache about letting outside tour companies onto the property, and we ran into some real meet up issues because of it, but the team was super responsive and got it sorted quickly. It all worked out in the end, and honestly that kind of responsiveness under pressure told us a lot about how they run things. We started our Tulum tour early to beat the crowds and heat (highly recommend!). Luis guided us through Tulum and made sure we stayed hydrated the whole time, which matters more than people think when you're out in that heat. His knowledge of the area, the flora, the fauna, the history, was genuinely impressive, and he had this rare ability to be educational and entertaining at the same time without ever feeling like a lecture. At our turtle excursion he schlepped our gear and made sure we didn't forget anything, none of which was his job, he just did it because that's who he is. I was also practicing my broken Spanish throughout the trip, and Luis never once made me feel dumb or embarrassed when I got it wrong, which I really appreciated. For our next tour, Arturo took us to the cenotes. When he picked us up, he suggested we visit a different cenote than what we'd originally booked. I was a little skeptical, figured he just wanted a shorter drive. I was completely wrong. The cenote he picked instead allowed us to have two totally different types of experiences that we would have missed entirely otherwise, and I'm glad we trusted him. At Cenote Jaguar, Arturo gave our kids real time and space to jump and play, which ended up being a highlight of the whole trip for them. At Cenote Dos Ojos, claustrophobia was a real concern for us. But Arturo's tour through the caves was informative and calm enough that we felt genuinely safe the entire time. Between the logistics, the guides, and how they handled a hiccup that wasn't even their fault, these two tours were one of the best parts of our trip. read more

My husband and I traveled to Playa del Carmen for the first time and booked an excursion to the Tulum ruins, a cenote and lunch. Our tour guide Eddy was beyond amazing! He was so knowledgeable and taught us so much about the area, the ruins, including a lot of info about Chichen Itza even though it wasn't on our tour. I learned a lot about the Mayan people and Aztecs. Unfortunately I underestimated my ability to handle the heat in the area but Eddy and our driver Rodrigo were amazing! I hung out in the shade so my husband could finish the tour, then Eddy got me out of the ruins so fast and back to Rodrigo. We had to cancel the cenote due to my heat exhaustion but they were so understanding and patient and got us back to our resort quickly. If ever in the area again I would absolutely try again and request Eddy as our tour guide! read more

Arturo and Cristina were great tour guides! They tailored our cenote experience based on the fact that we had a group with mixed swimming abilities so we visited cenotes that had no moving currents. As one of our group who can't swim, I was very grateful for that! I was able to participate to my comfort level. Water was provided in the van and the lunch at Juanita restaurant was light, but satisfying and delicious after all the activity. Extra info: Life jackets are required and provided, but if you don't fit a standard size XL life jacket you may want to bring your own. There's not a ton of walking but you will be on a lot of uneven natural surfaces. I recommend swim shoes with grip as the bottom of the cenotes is very rocky, and flip flops are easy to lose balance on on the stairs. read more

A Chichén Itz-A+ Experience! We had an absolutely outstanding experience with Absolute Adventures, thanks in large part to our incredible guide, Alberto, and our professional driver, Yosmar. Alberto guided us through all the major archaeological sites at Chichén Itzá with a perfect balance of deep knowledge, storytelling, and patience. He answered countless questions--not just from my wife and me, but also from our very curious 10- and 8-year-old children. He made history come alive in a way that was engaging and accessible for all of us, which is no small feat on a long, hot day. What truly set Alberto apart was how attentive he was to our children's needs. He made sure we moved at a comfortable pace, checked in frequently, and ensured the kids stayed engaged and comfortable throughout the tour. He also did a fantastic job preparing us for interactions with vendors and other on-site situations, which made the entire experience stress-free and enjoyable. Our driver, Yosmar, was equally impressive. He was extremely professional, always parking in safe areas--and whenever possible, in the shade (a huge bonus!). He was attentive while we were getting in and out of the vehicle at each stop, especially when traffic was present, which made us feel very well taken care of. After the archaeological sites, Yosmar drove us to a beautiful cenote, where Alberto again went above and beyond--explaining all the amenities, walking down with us, and even helping carry one of our bags. We later stopped at an authentic Mayan/Mexican restaurant, where even our kids found food they loved. Alberto asked if he could join us for lunch, and we were happy to have him--his insight into the dishes and local cuisine made the meal even more enjoyable. We wrapped up the day with a stop in Valladolid, getting a quick but meaningful look at the Spanish influence, Mayan culture, and, of course, chocolate. It was a long day, but being able to go at our own pace--with our needs and preferences fully respected--made it more than worth it. Booking with Absolute Adventures was one of the best decisions we made on this trip, and we would absolutely do it again. What a wonderful afternoon! Juan was our guide and Hugo was our driver. We went to Jaguar and Pet Cemetary and then a delicious lunch. Jaguar had a free zip line and was more of an open cenote not a covered cave like thing. But perfect for our family and our friends with teenage girls. Pet Cemetary was unique and truly a once in a lifetime experience. All gear, including waterproof flashlights was provided. It was the perfect afternoon away from our resort. A wonderful experience with friends and our amazing guide, Joshua and our amazing driver, Rodrigo! Joshua was so knowledgable and fun to talk to. My friends and I did the Tulum Private Tour with Turtles and Cenote Snorkeling. We were a group of 8, so it was exciting to experience walking on Mayan land, snorkeling in the cenotes, and snorkeling with turtles. The experience is about 5 hours and it flew by! Joshua made the experience immersive and he was a great guy to talk to. My friends and I enjoyed learning about the Mayans. He showed pictures and gave us a mini history lesson while we were touring the Mayan Ruins and it was an incredible experience. He also took awesome photos of me and my friends. The lunch that was included with the experience was delicious! A great way to relax and chat before we headed to our last excursion. We were staying in Tulum, so it's about a 15-20 minute drive to each location after you're done. After we were done, Joshua gave awesome recs to do in Playa Del Carmen and Tulum. I am writing to update my review after we returned for our 4th trip with Absolute Adventure and our 3rd tour specifically with Arturo. This tour we went to Eden, Jaguar, and Dos Ojos Cenotes one day, and the Ek Balam Yucatec-Mayan ruins and the nearby cenote. We cannot recommend this company or Arturo enough. We have 3 kids and Arturo takes the time to speak with and teach each of them, and personally I love chatting with Arturo about the history of the area. This tour was one of the best we've done in Mexico. Having a private tours offers so many benefits especially when traveling with younger children (4 years old.) You have the ability to do more or less depending on how it's going. They stop for restroom breaks, etc. We even wanted a specific souvenir and our tour guide, Arturo, made sure we got it. He helped guide us when we were bargaining with vendors and even took us to a Cenote that was incredibly peaceful- no crowds. Shortly after we left the crowds descended and we were so grateful to get to experience it away from everyone else. Lunch was excellent as well! Our driver was superb. Wow! I'm so exited and happy to be able to write this message. Being a tourist from another country and not knowing what you might be getting into, is hard. I told myself that if I liked this tour I would write a review and let others know that this is the real deal. First off, we were picked up on time, grabbed some juice or coffee. They had drinks (soda, waters), and snacks (chips) for us throughout the trip. We would stop for the restroom if needed. Our, first stop was Chichen itzá, and we were among the first people there, (Alex had our tickets, so we walked right in) which makes for really good pictures when no one in the background. It also makes for great weather as it gets hotter as a day goes by. We headed over to the Cenote. We were given the choice of two, and we picked the open air, one which usually is very busy, and we got really lucky that nobody was there yet, except for maybe one group of 10 which I hear is all to us considering that they get really busy. We ended up at Valladoldid for a stroll and lunch. They order ahead so we don't wait long. This tour may be a little pricey, but I'll tell you it's really worth it. All the entrances are included and so is lunch (drinks not included). I would 1000 times recommend this, and if going back I will use them again for another tour to another place that they may offer. Alex was absolutely incredible! It was amazing that we could choose our own cenote and the private tour experience was just the best. We started our day with a private hotel, pick up where we decided which cenote we wanted to explore. After an amazing time swimming with a private snorkeling guide, Alex, we had some free time before we headed over to our tequila tasting and lunch. The different types of tequila and Alex is knowledge about the tequila was very impressive and I definitely found a newfound love and appreciation for tequila. I'll highly recommend booking directly with them instead of through a third-party site as we found it to be a better price. WOW! Where to begin?! We had a GREAT experience with Absolute Adventures. A quick overview -- Guide: Josh (Joshua) Driver: Kiki (Enrique - sp?) Tour: Chichen Itza, Cenote, and Valladolid Everything from start to finish was really outstanding -- from pick-up to drop-off. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about Chichen Itza and provided SO much history, cultural background, and insight during the guided tour. I honestly can't imagine if we had just gone on our own and tried to explore the site without our guide. Just as we finished at Chichen Itza, it began to rain... I mean, like tropical storm rain. It poured! But, Josh and Kiki were right there in it with us. Next, we went to Xkeken cenote. Usually there is a choice of cenotes on the tour, but due to the rain and storm, it was recommended that we do Xkeken, since it is a cave cenote. Our guide explained that there would be a chance that the other cenote option would be closed due to the storms. All said, the Xkeken was great. We were able to stay there about an hour before heading to Valladolid for lunch and shopping. Lunch was fabulous. Unfortunately the rain continued, so after spending some time in the town center area, we looked like wet dogs and were completely water logged. But, from there, it was the return trip to our resort. So, we had about 2 1/2 hours to dry out and relax. I would HANDS DOWN use Absolute Adventures again. What an amazing excursion -- truly the highlight of our trip! Christina and Ivan picked us up from our hotel right on time, and from that moment on everything was seamless. Our first stop was the Tulum ruins, where Christina gave an incredible tour. She explained the history and architecture in such a fun, engaging way that we learned a ton while also having a great time. After that, we headed to the Taak Bi Ha Cenote, and this part was unforgettable. Christina guided us through the cenote with snorkeling gear, even taking us safely into some of the cave entrances. She kept us informed, comfortable, and always safe -- which is so important with all the cave formations. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Juanita's restaurant, then made our way to Akumal Bay to snorkel with sea turtles. Christina and our bay guide, Anna, took us out where we saw dozens of turtles, plus a stingray and even a barracuda! We enjoyed a fabulous day with Juan and Enrique! They arrived at our hotel bright and early (and on time) such that we made it to Chichen Itza early and enjoyed short lines and photos of just us! Juan had already purchased our adult tickets and was well-versed with how to efficiently obtain the children's tickets. He took us on an informative tour, focused on hitting the most populated areas first, and knowing exactly where the shady spots were to learn more about the site. Our tour to the Chichén Itzá ruins with Alex and Rodrigo was the highlight of our family's trip to Cancun. Alex knows his stuff and we learned so much both on the drive there and at the site. When he asked what we knew about the Mayans, my nine year old shared that he had learned that they used cacao beans as currency. Alex immediately pulled up images on his iPad and told us even more about that. At the site, Alex shared in-depth information that made the experience so wonderful. Private snorkeling trip in Puerto Morelos with lunch in town. Experience was amazing. Private pickup from hotel was on-time and very personable. Met our guide Arturo and driver. Short trip to Puerto Morelos from our hotel where we met the captain and tour guide for snorkeling, Kevin. Everyone involved was very accommodating, took their time to make sure we understood the plan and the rules. Getting on the boat was simple from the dock, getting in the water was an easy slide over the side and we snorkeled for about an hour and a half. Arturo and Kevin put us on a lot of structure, we saw so many neat and colorful fish. Trigger fish, needle fish, rainbow parrot fish, a whole bunch of barracudas, conchs and they even got us on a couple of sea turtles feeding. Getting back on the boat was also easy, they have a built-in ladder that extends into the water far enough to just walk up. Overall, 10/10, would book again in a heartbeat. We had an amazing time going to Chichén-Itzá and Valladolid with Absolute Adventure! Arturo was our guide, and we got there just as the park was opening. Because we were there before the crowds, we were able to get photos with the temples as backdrops -- and no one else around. Basically had the park to ourselves for a while, which was valuable! We learned so much about the ancient city from Arturo, who was able to point out aspects of the temple and history that we would have completely missed had we been in the park on our own. We then went to Valladolid for a fantastic lunch, and got to walk the city on our own for a bit -- stopping off in a beautiful old church at one point.
