My wife and I can't recommend My Quest Concierge Private Tours enough. Shout-out to our amazing guide, Heriberto Lopez. He took excellent care of us for the day. It was just us three. We loved having a guide all to ourselves. We stayed at Grand Velas Riviera Maya in Playa del Carmen. My wife found out about My Quest from Tripadvisor. We booked a "VIP Tulum Private Tour" over two months in advance through Viator. It cost $340, prepaid online, and we tipped Heriberto $75 in cash after the tour ($415 total in US dollars). We thought it was worth it. The preferred method of communication for My Quest, like most of Mexico, is WhatsApp. Two days before our tour, we got a WhatsApp text message from Carolina to confirm details. Our only gripe with My Quest came in this message. The company wanted to change our pickup time from 7:30am "to 6:45am since we have found more people due to the season." We were a bit annoyed with that because we booked and prepaid with My Quest in order to get a private tour at the time we specified months ago. I politely replied and asked if we could keep the original reservation time. I received a prompt response, yes. Around 8:30pm the night before our tour, we got a message from Fernanda. She confirmed our pickup time, told us that Heriberto would be our guide, and gave us his phone number so that we could message him via WhatsApp. Once again, I had to correct the pickup time from 6:45am to 7:30am. I messaged Heriberto to make extra sure. Heriberto showed up on time at 7:30am. He picked us up in a company car, a GMC Acadia, I believe. It could've been a GMC Terrain. I don't remember exactly. The SUV had a transmission issue where it would downshift unexpectedly, usually after we got going on the highway. This mildly concerned both us and Heriberto. He reported the issue to My Quest. Heriberto is local to Playa del Carmen, where My Quest is based. He's friendly and intelligent. We could tell he is passionate about his job. He loves his family, Mexico, and the environment. We felt safe when we were with him. Our tour consisted of three stops, each of which I reviewed on Yelp. In order, they were: 1. Zona Arqueologica de Tulum 8:45am to 10:00am (times approximate) https://www.yelp.com/biz/zona-arqueol%C3%B3gica-de-tulum-tulum-2 Zona Arqueologica de Tulum is the famous ruins of Tulum. This is a popular tourist attraction. Heriberto and My Quest proved to be very valuable here for two main reasons: First, Heriberto knew the most efficient route through the ruins and he was terrific at timing our stops so we were rarely around other people. He made our tour of Tulum feel special and intimate. Second, Heriberto was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Tulum and the Maya people. He brought an iPad to show us pictures and diagrams, which added another layer to his history lessons. 2. Cenote Xunaan Ha 10:30am to 11:45am (times approximate) https://www.yelp.com/biz/cenote-xunaan-ha-ciudad-chemuyil 3. Cenote Taak Bi Ha 12:15pm to 1:45pm (times approximate) https://www.yelp.com/biz/taak-bi-ha-zona-hotelera-tulum Cenote Xunaan Ha is an open, above-ground cenote. Cenote Taak Bi Ha is a closed, underground cenote. At both cenotes, Heriberto provided us with life jackets and snorkeling gear. Life jackets came from the cenotes and snorkeling gear came from My Quest. Xunaan Ha was a leisurely swim and snorkel. Taak Bi Ha was a guided tour. We absolutely loved both. Cenotes are some of the most beautiful natural occurrences on earth and they must be experienced in person. No hiking was involved, but the swimming, especially in the cold water of Taak Bi Ha, did take some energy. Eat a good breakfast and bring snacks for the car. Heriberto had bottled water for us. We arrived back at the resort around 3:45pm. We were gone for over eight hours. Due to highway traffic, it took over one hour to get from our resort in Playa del Carmen to Tulum and it took over one hour to get from Taak Bi Ha back to our resort. Therefore, there was a lot of drive time. We also made a pit stop at a Pemex gas station on the way back. At all three stops, Heriberto took care of everything: translation, parking, restrooms, escorting, tickets, access, etc. He was also great at taking pictures and videos of us, and knew all the best spots and angles. He knew how to make the pictures look as if there weren't other people there, especially at Tulum, which had large groups of tourists. We appreciated that even though we didn't ask for it. He just made it happen. Heriberto was fantastic. Tips: - Both Viator (via an emailed link to a web page) and My Quest (via WhatsApp messages) will tell you what to expect, what you can and cannot bring, and what's included and not included (e.g., lunch was not included on the tour we booked). - Don't wear sunscreen to the cenotes. It's generally not allowed because it harms the cenote ecosystems. - Strongly consider bringing water shoes. Ours came in handy at Taak Bi Ha. read more

This tour was the highlight of our trip to the Yucatan Peninsula and will forever be one of my favorite travel memories. Our guide, Manuel, was not only communicative and informative but went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and relaxed the entire day. He even stopped at a pharmacy on the way out to find a good medicine for my mom's back, which she hurt a few days before our trip. Without that she would have been miserable and unable to enjoy any of the activities at our stops. The pyramid at Chichén Itzá was breathtaking and Manuel took amazing pictures of us from the perfect vantage point. I have been interested in and studied Latin American history for several years so I found his knowledge about new and relevant information only just being released in academic circles incredibly fascinating. Our lunch at Paladar De Cura in Valladolid was the best meal I had our entire stay, and we also did a tequila tasting and some souvenir shopping in town. After lunch we headed to Cenote Chukum where we swam in the cool waters of a cavernous sinkhole with small catfish flitting beneath our feet. We decided to book this company because they were flexible with doing a private customized tour for 16 people. I was able to communicate with them via WhatsApp and book everything through secure links. The tour was great as per our requests everything we wanted was taken care of and we had both a driver and a private tour guide with us at all times. The only thing I would change is to ask for a bigger van or car than what is offered. Our van was a 17 seater however we only had 12 people actually make it to the tour and it still felt a little crowded. The seats weren't wide so if you have hips the seatbelt box will dig into ur thighs etc. Having a bigger van will eliminate this issue but that is not on the company that is on the customer. So it's my only recommendation that if you book with them to simply ask for a bigger van than the number of people in your group. read more

We arrived at a Cenote, somehow someone from another tour took my shoes LOL and JP went out of his way to find them, ask and look all over and get my shoes back, LOL I thought I had to back barefoot. Mulix the professor was entertaining, knowledgeable, humorous and friendly. As he is actually Mayan, being raised in the Yucatan jungle and speaking Mayan (he also speaks Turkish and German as well as Spanish and English), he not only has what is known to archaeology and anthropology to Mayans but is in a unique position to elucidate in being raised with Mayan oral tradition and who spends much of his adult life in the jungle looking for artifacts and ruins. Because of his cultural heritage as a bilingual Mayan, he was able to elucidate the complex cultural interrelationships between the Mexica, Toltec, and Mayans. As an American board certified adolescent to young adult social studies educator myself and historian, I am well versed in Mesoamerican history. I can attest to Mulix's deep knowledge about a variety of prehistorical and historical topics. He was able to help me understand the Yucatan War of Castes in 1847 in combining historical knowledge with familial experience. We asked for a guide knowledgeable about the archaeoastronomy of Chichen Itza and got an archaeology professor turned tour guide. His passion for Mayan cultural preservation and historical knowledge we feel surpassed the knowledge and expertise of most tour guides and maybe even the official ones. He worked on Chichen Itza as a lithographer / illustrator who helped interpret Mayan glyphs and assisted in past excavations of certain sections. His depth of knowledge impressed us as did his honesty and candor with some of the gimmicky things we saw other tour guides contending or demonstrating to their tour groups, including some of the official ones. He literally wrote one of the books about the fall of the Mayan Empire. He was prepared to help us understand the mathematical concepts and astronomical observations built into Chichen Itza both by drawings on a pizza box and also by demonstration from a borrowed resin plastic pyramid with a measuring tape and colored string to help us see how the Mayans discovered right angles in circles and used them to mark the summer and winter solstice for the Kukulkan (Mayan for Quetzalcoatl, the Aztec feathered serpent god, in distinguishing Chichen Itza from all the other known Mayan city-states in its Aztec and Toltec influences) Pyramid, and designed the pyramid to reflect shadows upon the approaches at certain times of the year serving as a calendar, helped us to imagine the rigid social classes of the Mayans, and the beliefs behind Mayan human sacrifices and how it differed from the Toltec Olmec and Mexica. He helped us understand and visually see the evidence of multiple constructions and to be able to distinguish between the cultural influences of each, as well as the mythology represented in the glyphs and the Mayan three ringed time keeping system. Five stars. We loved the tour of Valladolid and the vendors there who were much better priced than the cartel run high pressure markets in Cancun and loved getting to see real Mexico there. More importantly we had the best authentic Mexican food for lunch. Ask for Mulix the professor. We did lunch before the cenote swim because we were hungry as there were no early morning breakfast options through room service at our all inclusive in Cancun. It was a drive to Chichen Itza and back from Cancun to Valladolid and we were worried about spending half a day in the car. But it was worth it as Mulix taught us a great deal to and from, from Mayan head binding to the Mayan legends Arnold Schwarzenegger's 1987 hit Predator, Dia de las Muertas customs, and soul eating. my fiancé and I went on the private Tulum, cave cenote, and open cenote tour with our guide Heber and had THE BEST time. Heber was so personable and informative, you can tell he really knows his stuff and is passionate about the history and nature of the tour! He was on time and well prepared from water to snorkel gear. The cenotes were the highlight of our trip, I would recommend them to anyone traveling to Yucatán. Heber also showed us a delicious authentic street vendor at the Tulum ruins as well as a restaurant after our tour for lunch. Nothing felt rushed and we got to fully enjoy every minute of the experience. Heber was on top of it offering to take pictures on our phones and videos of us on a go pro. Something I really appreciate as I love to have photos of our memories and he seemed to happy and eager to do so! Prior to the tour Maria was in communication with us through email and text. Everything was very well organized and easy to communicate. No stress at all when it came to booking/pick up/questions regarding what to bring and weather. Incredible excursion with Abraham from My Quest Concierge! Left for Tulum from EPM at 6:30 a.m. and beat the crowds. Awesome private tour of the ruins, souvenir shopping, followed by out-of-this-world snorkeling in a cave cenote. Finished off the day with swimming in an open cenote and some awesome tacos at a place our guide recommended (Don Sirloin). Back at EPM at 3:00. Abraham was awesome! Took tons of photos, provided snorkel gear, cold water, underwater camera, etc. Was super knowledgeable about the area and history of Tulum and had excellent communication with us the days leading up to our excursion. 100% worth the cost and worth leaving the resort for half a day to experience Mexico! I'm so glad I found this company! We did a private tour of the Cenotes and it was amazing. We were the first and often only people at each place we stopped. Our guide, Keshi, was very knowledgable and accommodating. The tour company was a breeze to work with and everything is flexible and at your discretion. Each place we stopped was unique and incredible. I've traveled to all 7 continents and this is an experience that I will not forget. The first cenote was a lagoon where salt and freshwater mixed so you got a variety of tropical fish and even a giant moray eel! The second cenote was in the jungle, very quiet. The water was pristine and reflected the surroundings. We Sean for a while after jumping in and it was incredible. The last cenote was underground in a cave where we leaned about the stalactites and stalagmites and swam in some of the deeper cracks and crevices. Really cool. Our guide was our photographer through the whole trip, using his phone. And we were able to get our photos quickly! Would highly recommend this company for any trips and tours. It's no wonder this company has 5 stars from everyone. They deserve 10 stars. I was a little nervous about finding a tour in Mexico - we have 4 young adults, new travelers, and I was fearful of things you read about Mexico. MY QUEST is so safe, so well protected, SO PERSONALIZED, and private. It starts from the beginning. The administrator Fer is communicative and handles every detail. She responds to every email immediately and even took a phone call when I was being neurotic. She is calm, assuring, LISTENS to what you want and then sets up a tour perfectly. Firstly, she guided me to the right area to stay to maximize our tour times, she guided us to the right activities based upon asking us questions prior to arrival (e.g., switching from Coba to Ek Ba-lam), allowed us to bring our on food on days that didn't include food (so no stopping for lunch or shopping, no being forced to eat somewhere), and provided some flexibility on the days of. I recommend calling MyQuest before you book your hotel then you can fit all the tours in with them! They also provided a small discount since we booked three days of tours with them. Then, once arrived, omg Oscar Sanchez - tour guide AMAZINGNESS!!! We have ancient civilization buffs in our group and all that Oscar said tracked with what was known already and enhanced knowledge. We used My Quest Concierge to take us snorkeling in a Cenote. I would highly recommend this company. They provide private custom tours and great prices! They did not ask for any deposit. Had an incredible lenient cancel policy. The company and our guide Abraham was always prompt to reply to me. We were picked up on time in a clean van and taken to Taak Bi Ha. Our guide had everything we would need. Snorkels, flashlight, life jacket- which we did not use. Taak Bi Ha is gorgeous. We got there around 9am and we're the only ones there. We snorkeled through a pitch black cave using flashlights to see. The Cenote is beyond gorgeous! Water was slightly chilly but warmer than I expected. We were never rushed by our guide. We had a phenomenal private tour of Tulum and two cenotes in the area, huge thanks to our tour guide Irving! Everything was very well-organized from the beginning. We were contacted by the tour operator the day before to set up our pick-up arrangement and given Irving's contact information. We were then picked up in a private Suburban and drove ~1 hr to Tulum. There, we were able to ask Irving questions specific to the ruins and got some really great information. Afterwards, we went to the cenotes to cool off and Irving took us to two very private cenotes. Fernanda was our coordinator. She was very friendly, thoughtful, and fun! Her communication was timely, thorough, and very detailed for me - and I LOVE details! Everything was exactly as she said, and her responses were very prompt. We communicated by text the day before, during, and after. Our tour guide was Carlos in a Chrysler Pacifico. He was prompt and arrived about 10 minutes before our agreed upon departure time, so we were able to leave a little early - which we really appreciated. We had customized our tour a bit (for an extra cost that was very reasonable) so we knew it would be a very long day and lots of driving. We started at Chichen Itza and arrived exactly as gates were opening. The company had someone that they'd hired to stand in line for us - very cool! We walked past multiple very long lines and waited for a few minutes off to the side, and Carlos brought over our tickets and walked us right through. There are rules about what you can bring in, but Carlos did a great job of coaching us on what to take or leave in the car at each stop. Chichen Itza was an amazing stop, and Carlos narrated much of the journey for us. He had books, pictures, and references in his backpack that he pulled out from stop to stop. We spent about 2-3 hours there because I wanted to see EVERYtHING! He was very kind and accommodating. Next stop, cenote! We decided to see and take pics but didn't jump in. Glad we made the stop, but not for us. Next stop, lunch and shopping in Villadolid. The Restaurant the selected for us was AMAZING!!!! We had apps and lunch and the best margaritas we've had on the whole trip. The servers were kind and patient with explaining the options while Carlos interpreted and explains the local preparation and traditions of the meals. We chose to have him select our meals, a very traditional pulled pork preparation that we made into tacos. We had guac and the local sausage for apps, and the sausage was legit the best thing I've eaten this whole trip. It was like crispy, smoky, chorizo, but in long thin sections. I'm not doing it justice, I promise! Carlos offered to get the car so we could stretch our legs again before the drive to Ek Balam. We walked through a lovely town square and shopped a few of the small shops. I found a sweet little nativity in one of the shops that I really loved, and there were all of the usual types of shops and vendors everywhere if you wanted to find a treasure while there. We only walked around for a few minutes before Carlos arrived with the car. Ek Balam was a truly wonderful experience. It was completely different from Chichen Itza. Very small amount of people, and almost everything can be climbed and explored at your pace, and the vendors are there making some of the goods...it was the perfect balance to the busy city of Chichen Itza. I loved it and would not miss that opportunity to add it!!! We bought a hand carved mask and some more trinkets before leaving. The bathrooms were very clean (although no toilet seats) and I was very grateful to the sweet woman that kept everything so clean. We got some snacks for the road, like chips and Fanta and topochicos and fun stuff! The ride home was long, and we def both fell asleep after all that pyramid climbing!!! Long story, not so short, Fernanda and Carlos were perfect and did more than we could have hoped for and we will absolutely tour with them again and recommend you do too!!! read more

Yesterday we enjoyed an amazing tour of Coba, two Cenotes, and an ocean front lunch. Our guide was Juan and he was amazing! Our arrival times, at his guidance were just perfect! Parking lots were empty when we arrived and by the time we left each stop they were full! At each site we felt like the only tourist there...until it was time to leave. Juan is of Mayan descent, and an archaeologist who had personally worked at the Coba site as a restorer and translator of the hieroglyphs. His knowledge and passion passion for the Mayan culture and the stories behind these amazing ruins was incredible. We really felt like we had an inside look that none of the other tourist there were getting. On the way out of Coba, and at my request, Juan stopped for me at a roadside shop to purchase beautiful handcrafted dreamcatchers. He even helped guide me price. The Cenotes were equally breathtaking. Juan guided us through the underwater caves and to stunning lesser known areas and caverns deep inside. It was very special. As he described it, "creepy beautiful". Lunch was awesome! Perhaps one of my favorite restaurants for atmosphere ever. La Buena Vida at Akumel. Sand under our feet and a beachfront table! There are tree houses, hammocks and an awesome bar. We enjoyed a fresh coconut with rum, the biggest coconut shrimp you've ever seen, and an amazing fresh mayan ceviche; all overlooking this beautiful cove of crystal clear water. I highly recommend My Quest VIP Tours and specifically Juan. It was an amazing adventure which will not be forgotten. read more

We went on a day long tour with Keshi and Damian. This was by far our best day in Mexico. Not only did we explore the ruins at Coba, but we went to multiple cenotes that were unbelievable. To top it off, Keshi and Damian took us to a cenote that is more private with almost no tourists. They also took as around Tulum and back to Playa after an amazing dinner in Tulum. Not only would I highly recommend, I will be going with them again next time I go back to Playa Del Carmen or Tulum. read more

If you're looking for a tour company to go to Chichen Itza, I HIGHLY recommend MyQuestConcierge.com. First of all, it was a private tour, so only our group was in the vehicle, we didn't waste any time picking up people we didn't know from various other hotels which saved a lot of time. Johnny was a fantastic driver, guide and photographer, and a veritable fountain of information. He answered all our questions with ease, sometimes before we even asked them. In addition to Chichen Itza, we also visited a Cenote you could swim in and a delightful local restaurant to sample true Mexican cuisine. At every stop we were treated like old friends and ushered into the attractions through a side door eliminating waiting in line. Everything was included in the price of the tour, all admissions, toll road fees, parking, and lunch at the restaurant, we only had to pay for our drinks at the restaurant. We were completely comfortable, the vehicle was a Chevrolet Traverse with 3rd row seating with A/C and plenty of ice cold water was provided during the whole excursion, Johnny even carried quite a few into the ruins in his backpack for when we inevitably asked for them, since it was 100° the day we visited. We did our research before booking this company, and while some were cheaper, they weren't private and that added to drive times. We went to Cozumel for the Ironman race, heard about the cenotes close by and after much digging, I found and hired this private tour company. Our guides, Keshi and Alejandro, were patient, fun, informative, helpful, and did I forget to mention patient? Our group consisted of older hesitant grandparents and really young children, who have either never snorkeled or had a fear of water period. Hiring a private tour company made sense because most companies didn't take younger children on the cenote excursions and we didn't want to hold up or inconvenience the group in any way. From the get-go, our tour was tailor-made, focusing on our wants and needs, and we also made a stop to try out authentic cuisine and smoothies we will always crave. Grandma and grandpa decided to watch on dry land and to soak in the beautiful scenery, but the rest of us dove in. Keshi and Alejandro were both amazing with the children.... teaching, explaining and melting away any fears or concerns they had. Much emphasis was placed on making sure everyone was comfortable and having a great time. An added unexpected bonus were photos and video clips of the whole day! It was a long day, taking the ferry back and forth from Cozumel, but when all three said that it was "one of the best days of our entire lives...." it was worth every penny. We had THE BEST DAY. You will not find a more professional company for a private tour. Our itinerary included the Coba ruins, a cenote, and underground river. Lilian took the reservation and provided us with the name of the driver in advance to ensure we felt safe. She was incredibly responsive to questions and made it easy to book. Keshi went out of his way to ensure we were happy from the start. His expertise in local history was outstanding. He is very patient. He has a great sense of humor. He is a great photographer too. For the Coba ruins, we worked with Faustino. I'm pretty sure we had the honor of spending time with present day Indiana Jones! It was incredible to receive information from someone so passionate about history. You will definitely walk away from this trip with a sense of respect for the past.
