Up early again for our 2nd excursion organised by Kay Tours Mexico, this time was to Isla Mujeres, via a luxurious catamaran with a snorkelling tour in the world's 2nd largest reef, beaten only by the great barrier reef. Never seen so much colour under the sea before, felt so privileged especially when an inquisitive turtle swam up to have a nosy at us. On Isla Mujeres, instead of staying in the north of the island (where we docked), John was excited to rent a golf cart and so we toured the less touristic, south part the island. David was our tour guide, and on the ride to tulum gave us a lot of history about the mayas. At tulum, he took us around and told us about each site. The cenote was awesome. We had the BEST day with Claudia as our guide and Jose as our driver. We have been on several tours throughout Mexico and Kay Tours was outstanding. Everything was planned perfectly. The timing was great and Claudia, our guide was so thoughtful and informative. I felt completely safe and knew we were in great hands. My spouse and I had the pleasure of being accompanied by Beto one one of the most memorable days of our lives! With an early start we were taken to a roadside taco stand before we arrived at Chichen Itza, where we had the most incredible tacos we'd ever eaten. when given the choice between fancy but touristy and authentically local but not necessarily fancy, we always chose the latter and were always rewarded for the decision. Beto's warm hospitality and welcoming personality made us feel comfortable right away, and we enjoyed interesting and fun conversation throughout the nearly 12-hour day together. I can't imagine a better tour guide experience, from his wealth of knowledge about Chichen Itza and the surrounding areas to his excitement to share it all, we got very lucky to end up with Beto. We just wanted to thank Kay Tours and our experience maker, Uri. We visited in late October of 2023 and were fortunate enough to get Uri as our guide/host on an unforgettable day to Chichén Itzá, Valladolid and Cenote Saamal. First off, Uri is a licensed tour guide with the Mexican Government. He tests every 4-years on his knowledge and understanding of Mexican cultural sites. He's highly educated and knows his stuff. He is fluent in Spanish and English, as well as a few other languages. When you get to these location with him, you will realize that he knows everyone and is treated with respect. And I mean everyone. His connections gets him special treatment that he passes along to his guests. We felt like rockstars bypassing lines and getting extra attention. Many people left the groups they were with and tried to listen into what he was telling us at these cultural sites. They knew he was better than their groups guides. Some even asked us how we got him. He also took realy great photos of us so that we had keepsakes from our visit. We learned so much that my brain hurt and I was physically tired. Every other review you read about Kay Tours and Uri are all true, he's the real deal and we made a real connection and lifelong friend. I would HIGHY recommend this company and Uri to ANYONE. The money you spend on these personal tours is worth every penny. You will not forget the experience and will never get stuck on a crammed bus tour ever again!! Also wanted to mention that both my wife and I are VEGAN. We were worried that there would not be any food options available for us at the cenote when we stopped for lunch. Uri assured us that there would be and that many Mayan/Mexican people are also vegetarian/vegan. The restaurant that you eat at is super cute (see pics) and the buffet spread they put out is fresh and massive. They had an entire vegetarian/vegan section and we had a whole bunch of food options (not just salad or fruit). Our plates were stacked and we went up for seconds and thirds. I could not be more happy with our experience with Kay Tours and our tour guide, Guillermo. I spent days researching which tour to do, as it was our first time to Mexico and we don't speak Spanish. I'm so glad we picked this one. We started bright and early at 6am when Guillermo picked us up at our resort in a comfortable SUV. We were a bit nervous it would be awkward as it was just myself and my husband, but it was super easy to chat. Right after leaving the resort, he offered to take us to get coffee and breakfast on the way, which was much appreciated. He also had plenty of water bottles, soda, and beer in a cooler for us to drink along the way! It was around a 3 hour drive to Chichen Itza, which went by quick! Guillermo filled the drive with interesting facts and stories along the way and was a smooth and safe driver. He also didn't mind if we took little naps along the way, which was awesome since we were definitely tired from getting up so early! We also could take as many bathroom stops as needed. You change time zones when you cross into Yucatán (it is one hour behind Cancun) so we got to Chichen Itza right when it opened! There was no line, and it wasn't crowded at all. Definitely worth the early start!!! He gave us a fun and fact filled tour throughout the grounds that lasted around 2 hours, and also took plenty of photos of us along the way. All of the tickets were handled, and we even got a souvenir included. As we were leaving, all of the tour buses were starting to show up and it was definitely getting more crowded and hot. Our next stop was the Cenote, which was around a 30~ minute drive from Chichen Itza. We got there, changed, showered, and headed down the steps to the Cenote. We were one of the first ones there and had the entire cenote to ourselves, which was incredible. Again, all tickets were handled and the process was smooth. Guillermo took plenty of photographs and videos of us swimming on my phone, which I loved. We weren't rushed and could swim as long as we wanted. Be sure to bring a towel! After that, we had a buffet lunch that was incredibly tasty. It also had good vegetarian options! We sat on our own, and he sat with the other tour guides. After this, we drove to the town of Valladolid. This is a super cute picturesque town. He drove us around to show us, and then dropped us off and let us explore for as much or as little time as we wanted. My husband and I bought a few souvenirs, and then headed back to the SUV to head back to the hotel. We drank some corona's on the drive back, and napped. It was an incredible and unforgettable day. We chose Kays tours because of their yelp reviews and price. The booking online was very simple and easy. There is also a person to chat with via their website which makes it nice to book when your questions gets answered right away. We ended up going with a private tour because we wanted to be on a go on our time. Let me say it was worth it. We got HECTOR as our guide and driver. He was very communicative, prompt, funny and very knowledgeable. He texted me the night before to change our pickup time from 530am to 6am because of the 1-hour time difference going to Yucatan. Which makes sense for him to change the time, otherwise we would be extra early. We made our way to Chichen Itza first, Hector allowed us to take a power nap which was needed so that was nice. Also took a pit stop for a snack and coffee because food was not allowed on archeological site. Being one of the first ones there, Hector allowed us to take our photos as we wanted so that there was no crowds in our pictures. He then to proceed to explain the history of the mayan culture which shows his passion for. Our tour also consist a cenote saalam visit, but Hector honored my request to take a quick stop at cenote ik kil (of course at our expense) which we did not mind. The timing to cenote ik kil was awesome, being that is a popular tourist cenote, we were the first ones again. Hector was on fire! So of course that allowed us to get our photos in an empty cenote but just us. From there, we then went to our suggested cenote saamal which by then we got hungry, so Hector allowed us to indulge in the buffet. He suggested this lime soup thing, and of course, it was delish! We then checked out the top of cenote saamal as my husband and I were too tired to climb down those steps (haha) from being full. But it's ok, our tour, our choice which was great about private tours. Hector offered to take us to another town in Valladoid but we also decline, we were very content and happy with our tour and was ready to go back to our hotel. This was me and my wife's very first private tour and we are very happy we booked through Kay Tours! We booked the Chichen Itza and Ek Balam tour with a visit in Valladolid and Cenote Samaal and seeing those places were incredible! We were so happy to we get to see and experience those places. Our guide was David and he was the best and very smart! He shared all his knowledge of the Mayan culture, and all the other places we have visited and about Mexico. He also made sure to offer us food and drinks, as the drive takes about couple of hours from where we are staying in Cancun. We asked for some time in Valladolid to walk around and find souvenirs and it was very important for us that he took us to couple of places and see if we can find what we are looking for. I spent days agonizing over what kind of tour to get for our short trip to Cancun and finally laded on a full day private tour of Chichen Itza, Vallodolid, a cenote, and finally Ek-Balam with Kay Tours. I am so glad I decided on both the private tour and Kay Tours. Carlos, our guide for the day was simply outstanding! We stopped first in Valladolid for a rest break and a short tour around the quaint little town. Then we were off to Chichen Itza. We arrived before many of the buses did and were able to take our time around this fantastic archeological site. Carlos took many pictures of us and filled us in on as much history as we could take. We then went to the cenote for a refreshing swim and then a buffet lunch after, which was quite tasty. And my wife, who is a vegetarian, was also able to fill up on the vegetarian options available. After this, we went to Ek-Balam and Carlos explained more of the historical significance of the site. Since it was only recently discovered, there were still remains hidden under the forest so we could see what it looked like before it was restored. Carlos again took more pictures of us. After a full day of exploring, we headed back to Cancun. Carlos was an extremely safe driver and I felt comfortable enough to take a nap on the way back. Kay Tours by far exceeded our expectations! We did two separate excursions, on two separate days. One was deep sea fishing and the other was a private sea turtle swim on Christmas Day. Our guides and spotters were wonderful and definitely experts in their field. All were prompt, friendly, courteous and made us feel very welcomed. We were never rushed and the day was truly ours. I purchased a four hour deep sea fishing excursion which ended up being closer to eight hours after they prepared our catches and took us snorkeling afterward. We were fortune to have the same guide for both tours Angela, who took the time to know us and understand our style of exploring. She was even kind enough to answer several of our cultural and language questions which made our visit even more enjoyable. I can not say enough great things about this company. We normally stay at an all inclusive resort as I am somewhat fearful of venturing outside of the resort on our own. Kay was wonderful to work with to schedule everything and address all of my questions. There is even the option to not pay until the day of to ensure financial comfort and no-stress related to the unknown. Additional information, my husband and I traveled with our 11 year son. This was our first time doing many of the activities. The guides and spotters were very accommodating and helped to coach and train us through our first times snorkeling in the open ocean and around wildlife. To wrap up my review I'd like to say this company has truly thought of everything. Snacks, drinks, stops along the way to ensure you have essentials for the excursions (Dramamine)...everything! They even loaned us cash to tip the crew and spotters as I wasn't prepared for all of the assistance we'd have during our excursions. First time snorkeling and first time whale shark snorkeling. I was nervous that we were not able to do so without any snorkeling experience but Kay answered all of my questions right away and put me in ease. Our hotel was the farthest compared to other people who were doing whale shark the same day, so we had our own private driver pick us up from the hotel and take us to meet the others at their hotel. It was $20 extra but definitely worth it. The cost included the water bottle, snorkeling gears, fins, life jackets, photos, tour guide and food/snack. Our tour guide, Juan, was great. However, he did not go into the water with the other guide we met on the boat with the captain. When you get to the dock, you ride on the boat for 1-2 hours to get to the actual place where bunch of sharks are swimming. By then, I was already seasick, even with my seaband and taken Dramamine. I suggest getting the patch behind your ears. I've heard that works wonders. We have 7 people in our group including ourselves, and everybody had chances to swim with the sharks at least 3 times. The other guide, which I do not remember his name, held my hands while we swam since those sharks are super fast and he was guiding and taking photos at the same time. You always have your life jackets on so don't worry about drowning if you are not a strong swimmer. It did make me nervous because there were other guide boats around us, but nobody got hurt and nobody seemed to worry about that. I was glad they took your photos for you, because I couldn't have swam, take photos, keep up with the sharks all at the same time. After that, we went to a different island, which had clear blue ocean. They offered lunch and we relaxed a bit. Then we all went back to our hotel, being dropped off. For the time wise, we were picked up around 5:30am then came home around 3pm. This is an all day activity so you have that day free all day. I would definitely recommend the Kay tour for the whale shark. This was definitely on my bucket list and I couldn't have a better tour guides and the captain for this tour. When me and my husband got seasick, they offered food and water and as the first time snorkeling experience, I felt safe and had a lot of fun. Also the photos we've got were wonderful. We had been looking forward to our excursion with Kay for 4 months by the time we actually took the tour with him. A group of 10 of us went snorkeling with whale sharks on the 4th of July and booked with Kay as early as March. This was our second time touring with him. Our first tour was in Cobá in 2013 and consisted of snorkeling in the cenotes, biking through the Mayan jungle, and climbing all 120 steps of Nohoch Mul. Needless to say, Kay definitely impressed us and left us wanting more. We knew we had to go back to him for our next once-in-a-lifetime Mexico adventure. Once again, Kay did not disappoint. In fact, he was even better than last time. He was in constant contact prior to the excursion, confirming all that was needed. He still had the same professionalism we loved from last time, but this time it felt like meeting back with an old friend. Those he did not know from last time, he tried to make sure he spent time with and got to know a little better. He provided ample snacks and food, as well as beverages, and even tried to give tips to those who struggled with feeling queasy on the boat or needed mask adjustments while snorkeling. For the excursion itself, he kept us entertained with personal stories on the drive to the dock. Then we loaded up into the boat and headed to where we would snorkel. This was an adventure all its own. It was amazing just looking out at the ocean, trying to spot dolphins, sea turtles, and other boats. When we got to where the sharks were, we went in groups of three (pairs and a guide) and the guides had us follow them to where the sharks were (we had already jumped in close to them so they weren't far). While we had an amazing time taking in the whale sharks and getting up close and personal, Kay would hang back and take underwater pictures! That day was swarming with whale sharks so we got a lot of jumps in (and photos!) before we got really tired and called it a day. From there, we got back on the boat and headed out to Isla Mujeres where we got to enjoy swimming in some of the crystal clear, more shallow water, take more pictures and eat some fresh ceviche. Mmmm... It was all in all quite an experience and a very relaxing day at the end. We didn't have to worry about gear rentals or buying extra packages to get our photos, or paying for lunch... Kay includes everything in his prices. He is the best, hands down. All we wanted was a worry free, stress free, experience to add to our vacation. Kay gave us all that and more BOTH times we've toured with him. We already can't wait to come back to Mexico to see Kay again! read more

Last week, my family and I enjoyed a private Kay tour with our guide Hugo. We were picked up at 6 a.m. for the tour and made our way to the archeological site of Chichen Itza. The timing was great as we were there very early (upon opening) and had a crowd-free visit. We then went to the Ek Balam site. Both sites were amazing to see but the experiences were very different - Chichen Itza is large and beautiful but 'hands off' whereas at Ek Balam you are able to climb the monuments. After that, we went to swim in a Cenote - the first Cenote we stopped at looked crowded (judging from the parking lot). Apparently they had a lunch buffet there and our guide took us to that one where we could have a bite to eat. Once there though, we decided that we would rather forgo the buffet and go to a 'less-travelled' cenote. Our guide knew just what we meant and took us the the exact right place. Now a bit about our guide - Hugo. What can I say? He was friendly, kind, knowledgeable, fun. His love and passion for Mexican culture and architecture was evident. Also, when we asked to be taken to a quieter cenote for swimming, he did not hesitate but took us to the exact type of cenote that we had imagined. He provided us with information, jokes, drinks and even small snacks when we were complaining of being hungry. Hands down the best choice to book our whale shark encounter with Kay tours. Most of our group was seasick- and we still think this experience was killer! I think that says a lot about Kay Tour quality of service. The staff was SO incredibly professional. Our guide, Tamara was top notch. Our captain, Noah was incredible and we were so confident in him keeping us safe. And our "sailor" (the person who dove with us and helped you in the water), Sergio was stellar (can't say enough about him)!! The experience with the sharks was unlike anything I've ever done. Being six feet away from these beautiful animals was a once in a lifetime experience. We each got to swim 2-3 rounds with the whale sharks - we could have done more if we wanted but swimming with them and getting in & out of the boat was so tiring! We were all beat at the end. If we said we wanted to go again, they would've kept putting us in the water with them. Other things: one of the first boats out there, great snacks (coffee in the morning, ceviche at Isla de Mujeres), sweet staff- takes care of you when sick, transportation was a breeze, etc. etc. But truly the best part, again, was the staff. Wow!! It's been such an amazing day With Alex garcia our tour guide & Banucio Hernandez our driver. They took us to CHICHÉN ITZÁ RUINS, in YUCATAN. Our day started at 6:15 am... yes... It's early but it a must to get started before all the craziness start. Alex our tour guide was very informative and very patient. If you have special needs like walking slow since he had 3 adults to help guide through the rocky floor. My hubby and I have feet problems and we have to take our time walking with a cane to avoid injuries. Talking about having patience. Banucio our driver always made sure we were safe in getting in and out. Having a small group of 8 was perfect. It was honestly worth every dime. We got the attention we needed and had a wonderful time. The Cenote they took us was breathtaking and it felt like a private tour not that many people in the area. The lunch they took us was a high class experience with delicious food not a buffet. I highly recommend KAY tours trust me you won't regret it. We had a previous bad experience with another company. Basically you pay what you get for...rudeness, over crowed tour guide how about 30 people to 1 rude guide. My advice is take your time in booking a tour. KayTours met my expectations above and beyond! My husband and I arrived to Cancun just yesterday, we knew we wanted to do a tour since we booked our trip. I honestly only gave myself two days before the trip to search for a tour. My airline offered some packages for tours but I wasn't too convinced. From the first chat, to the last email everything was so smooth and informative. You definitely get what you pay for!! Our tour guide was Martin. He met us at our hotel lobby at 5:40am. Our driver was Ulices. They had a very nice and clean van waiting for us, the provided us with snacks, drinks and even fresh fruit! They even had the best comfy pillows and some cute blankets in case we wanted to take a nap on our way to Chichén Itzá. Once we got to Chichén Itzá we were one of the first visitors!! Which was super nice because we beat the crowds and the heat! Martin did an awesome job explaining the history of Chichén Itzá. We learned a lot of interesting details of the history. We didn't even have to worry about pulling out our phones to take pictures, like Martin said he was our "paparazzi". Which was very nice :) After our tour to Chichén Itzá we drove out to Cenote Samal. We got to swim in the cenote which was so fun and refreshing!!! After the swim we had a very amazing lunch, we loved it so much we didn't want to leave lol. The last spot we visited was the distillery of agave. Where we learned how they make the tequila in Yucatán. We even got to take shots to taste the product! We were back at our hotel by 3pm. Which still gives us a lot of time to do other things in our resort :) I couldn't wait to write a review to say that yes everything you read about KayTours is absolutely true, they are amazing!!! Our guide Claire was amazing, informative and super attentive. The passion she has for the Mayan culture is completely infectious. We learned so much from her and had a great time exploring Coba and the Cenotes. She was patient and willingly waited while we took a ton of photos of everything, and she took some great ones of us as well. I love how she also made sure to take pictures of the names of locations so that we have context when we look back and remember. That thoughtfulness and attention to detail made this day more than a trip. It is truly an experience I will never forget. I had never snorkeled before and she kept checking on me to make sure I was okay. She even came and helped me get into the water when I was extremely overwhelmed and surrounded by little kids and families. I really appreciate her genuine kindness and care. Diego was a great driver. I was the only one awake our trip to Coba and I noticed how he was super careful and alert on the road. I also noticed how he slowly went over speed bumps and around road obstacles to not wake my sleeping friends on our 5:30A drive lol. What an awesome experience. I wish I had booked more than one tour. Our morning began by being picked up promptly from our guide Martin and a driver at our hotel lobby. They arrived in a nice big van stocked with drinks, snacks and even blankets and pillows. It was a very comfortable ride out to Chichen itza where Martin did a great job explaining the site. We felt like we were taken back in time. When we were done the van was waiting for us right at the entrance with the AC on. Next, we were off to the Cenote Saamal where we swam and ate lunch. This was wonderful! The water was so refreshing and there was only a few people there. After swimming we ate lunch at the same location as the cenote. It was buffet style with a huge variety of authentic mexican food along with homemade tortillas....yum! Everything was delicious and Martin explained all the different foods and pointed out his favorites. We ended the tour with a tour of a tequila distillery and a comfortable ride back to our hotel. All communications leading up to our tour were professional and our point of contact was very responsive. They clearly explained what to expect, pack and wear to ensure we had the best experience possible. Our guide, Claire, is extremely knowledgeable about the ruins, Mayan history and language, and the geology of the Yucatan Peninsula, and it enriched our tour experience. Additionally, she took every precaution to ensure our group was safe, especially climbing the ruins and snorkeling in the cenote. I knew we were in great hands and trusted that Claire had our best interests in mind the whole time. During our tour, Claire took photos of our group with her DSLR and GoPro, so we didn't have to bring our own cameras/phones. I had the best time on the Cobá and cenote tour! Our driver Diego and our guide Claire were incredible. Not only did they take care of every detail, they did so with a smile. The tour of the Mayan city is breathtaking and Claire went above and beyond explaining the history and culture. The best part is getting to Cobá right when it opens, so you skip the massive groups of people coming in later. The snorkeling part of the excursion was equally as amazing. BEST DAY EVER! IT WAS AMAZING! During our trip we had several things we wanted to do but knew splitting beach vs. adventure time was going to be a tough decision. We were staying in Playa Del Carmen but wanted to visit Tulum, see a cenote and possibly snorkel. After reading through trip advisor reviews we were kind of overwhelmed by all the options...where to, how to get there, time it would take, Etc. We met some nice locals and extended stay vacationers in the AirB&B condo we were staying at and one of them Refered is to Kay tours. After contacting them (responded within an hour) we checked out the site and looked at the options. They allowed us to customize what we wanted to do for our day trip. So this this was itinerary: 7am pick up - greeted by Kay and our drive Jorge. A/C clean van with basket of fruit and snacks and a cooler of water, drinks and beer. He was very thorough about what we would be doing for the day, time estimates, best practices for each event and information about every location. We took a ride from PDC to Tulum to see the Mayan Ruins. I'm not that much into historical tours usually, but there was so much history and quirky facts I learned. The views were amazing and he got us there right before the doors opened. It was great because it was quiet before all the mass tour buses arrived. It really allowed us to get some great photos without overcrowding of other visitors in the most scenic spots. After that, he even let us stop to let us shop a few of the markets ;). 10ish on our way to Akumal Bay to do snorkeling with sea turtles. Again, he was very clear about the process and the history of the location. Instructions on on how to snorkel (haven't done it since I was a kid). He had all props ready for us (goggles, life vest, snorkel) and we were able to by pass the bigger tourist group. We spent almost an hour in the ocean. All you have to do is follow him. He has a great eye for catching everything. We saw sea turtles, sting rays, box fish and coral reefs. Even though I brought an underwater camera, he brings a GoPro so he can capture the cool moments for us too! Right after we take a 3 minute drive to this beautiful and picturesque resturant overlooking the bay. They had a prefix menu options for apps, main course and dessert. I had the ceviche, chicken tostadas and ice cream. I think it may have been one out best meals the whole trip. Lunch was included with exception for any alcoholic beverage. We a few more iconic scenic pictures and then it was off to the next stop. 1:30pm - Chikin Ha Cenote. 3 cenotes in one area. We got to swim in 2 out of 3. It was so amazing. I've never felt so refreshed and energized. He timed it just so we missed the crowd and basically had it all to ourselves. And of course, he brought the GoPro to take photo and video memories. We were back by 4:00pm It's really was such a great day and made the whole Vacation experience even better. He and his team made us feel welcomed. I definitely will use him again when I go back and try out new adventures. It lets us maximize our vacation time to do all these activities without having to do the leg work. I think it was a beyond reasonable price for the experience. Things to note: bring sandals or comfy shoes, change of clothes, towels, a camera. The driver stays with the van and secures your personal belongings. It's all worry free! They have thought of every little detail to make it not about the prep but the EXPERIENCE! This is an excellent tour company. Our guides (Santiago and Juan) were very knowledgeable about the area, and they were extremely accommodating and friendly. They are well worth the price not only because of their insight into the attractions and friendly personalities, but they also provide snacks and beer! We went to Tulum to see the Mayan ruins, and it was extremely hot. When we got back to the van, they had the AC blasting, beers ready and cold towels to cool down with. We also swam in cenotes and they were extremely helpful with the snorkeling equipment. We had a big group, but they were patient and very down to earth. If you are considering hiring them, I'd strongly recommend them over their competitors! These folks are fantastic! read more

The Whale Shark snorkel tour was Fabulous. Everything was included in the price from pickup from hotel, boat, snorkel equipment,snacks, drinks & photos of our day. We were the first boat to find the whale sharks. So it was our private spot for a while. There were several whale sharks. The experience was inspiring, invigorating and just plain, awesome. The crew of the boat was great. The Kay Tour guide was awesome. You don't need or actually would not recommend taking your own camera in the water cause that would distract from your experience. The pictures we got from our trip was clear and there's no way we could have gotten those shots without the crew taking the pictures. Definitely a Must Do and hands down with Kay Tours. read more

Whale Shark tour with Tamara was great. She loves the whale sharks and it shows. I went last year with another highly rated tour company and Kay was better. Diego had coffee, fruit and sandwiches in the van when he picked us up. Stainless water bottles instead of plastic is really great. We got to the dock before the crowds. The boat, Maria Del Coral II was fast and stable, the captain and crew were very professional. We got to the whales before the crowds, swam with whales until everyone on the boat was tired and headed back in passing other boats that were just heading out. I went to the whale sharks last year with my wife. This year I took my son for memories he will have forever. It's just a beautiful and amazing experience. I'm still hoping to cross paths with a 10' - 12' Manta Ray that feeds on the same plankton that the whale sharks eat! See you next year! read more

The best private tour I have ever been on!!!!! Martin was an incredibly knowledgeable guide, we have nothing but positive things to say! When he picked us up we thought we would be with other couples but we were completely alone!!! It was a great one on one. When he picked us up the resort we didn't have breakfast yet so we were staved, we asked if there was somewhere before the tour to grab a bite and some coffee and he said he had a perfect place on the way an hour out. We napped, woke up to this cute little Mayan spot. Tacos and coffee were incredible!!!!! Better than our resort lol. I posted a picture. So thankful we chose Kay Tours during our trip at the end of July 2017. They made everything so easy for us to truly enjoy our vacation! We did the Whale Shark Tour and the Mayan Explorer Tour during our week in Playa del Carmen. My husband and I are not fans of crowds, lines, or super touristy stuff. Whale shark heaven!! I am an experienced diver for the last 30 years, but have never been able to view Whale sharks in all my travels. The first experience with Kay Tours was so good that I immediately booked an additional tailor-cut tour with them. Moreover, I signed up on yelp & tripadvisor only to write a review about them. From the moment we were picked up in the morning, with smiles on our tour guides' faces, a basket with food&drinks, and especially with a very friendly approach, we immediately knew the whole day would be about us. Kay and Van both did a fantastic job, taking pictures of us, answering all our questions, holding the umbrella above us when the sun was too strong... Yes, I paid more than with any other (private) tour, but at the same time got so much more back.Opposite to the busloads of other tourists, we not only had "a visit to Chichen Itza (or Tulum/Coba/etc.)". We were among the first people entering these magical sites, and it does make a difference when you are the only couple standing on top of the ruins in Coba or when you can make a picture of El Castillo in Chichén Itzá without any tourists present. If you're near Cancun/Playa Del Carmen, you're really doing yourself a disservice if you don't sign up for a tour with Kay. From the beginning, Kay worked with my girlfriend to craft a personalized tour that fit our schedule and budget. He was extremely accommodating, and generally just a fun and genuinely nice guy. He and his driver Jorge picked us up directly from our hotel (just my girlfriend and I) and came with some fruit, snacks, water, beer, sun screen, bug spray, the works! My girlfriend and Kay had planned a trip to Tulum, followed by a cenote swim in los dos ojos. Kay is very informed about the areas he takes visitors (for example, letting us know about sacrifice leaves--so cool, or helping us avoid the general public restrooms and opt for a restroom in a coffee shop instead), and also secured for us a Mayan tour guide of Tulum in order to make it a more authentic experience. In the middle of the personalized tour, my girlfriend and I expressed that we were hungry, and I also needed to use an ATM. Kay saw to it that we ended up at a great authentic mexican restaurant, and stopped at several ATMs for me. I originally miscalculated the cost of the tour in pesos, and Kay was very accommodating, eventually accepting payment at the end of our tour. He was even willing to wait for me to go back to my hotel room to get the money. It really goes to show that Kay is not looking to scam people or simply make money. He never tried upselling us on anything, and was very up front about the cost prior to the trip. He truly enjoys showing people a good time, and it shows! I have to say that the best part of our trip was the cenotes. Kay brought snorkeling gear for both my girlfriend and I, and also very high quality underwater flashlights.
