We interviewed a few DJs for our wedding. We're super happy we ended up with Rob. There weren't all that many pictures or reviews online of Rob, but he did great during our interview and checked all our boxes. Our checkboxes? Someone to take care of DJ and music for our ceremony and reception. Someone to help move and direct the guests around. Someone to get the guests dancing on the dance floor. What we didn't know at the time was Rob's planning process would help bring structure to our planning process as well. We contracted with Rob about 10mo out. We did a few google meet with him leading up to the event. Rob was super easy going and adaptable to our crazy schedules. He asked us a series of question and walked us through his worksheet to help set some expectations. It really helped us figure out the nitty gritty details for the big day, which in turn helped us with planning. Rob got the job done and then some. He was on time, easy to work with, adaptable and just understood what we needed. Rob's had a hidden super power that came through during our dance floor. We gave him a list of nice-to-have and must-have musics. We also gave him a bit of freedom on music selection based on the crowd vibe. We changed our schedule the week of the wedding and he was super flexible and responsive to our changes. He also made sure he pronounced our bridal party and parents' names correctly which we greatly appreciated. Experience During the Wedding: Our wedding was different in that we did not have a day of coordinator and we were leaning on Rob to help us keep the flow going and not let us fall to far behind. On the day of, he definitely helped keep us organized and would go look for us to make sure we were ready to proceed to the next part of the wedding. He had all the equipment to set up for two spaces at our outdoor venue: 1) ceremony and 2) dinner/reception area. He made all of the announcements to let our guests know what was going on and when they needed to move to other areas of the venue. We ended up having to deviate from the original plan quite a bit because of slow catering and the photographers insisting on a different time to shoot our pictures than we had originally planned. Rob just kept it rolling without an issue. Music: The sound quality was great; It felt like a concert. The transitions were so smooth and perfect. There were several segments we worked with Rob in advance to blend and trim. Each time we'd let him know what our vision was and he'd send over 2 or 3 options for us to choose from and was still open to additional feedback (although he understood our vision every time so it was usually as easy as selecting our favorite version of it). He also let us customize the set for different parts of the wedding, e.g. guests arrival, ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dance.

On the day of the wedding, everything started off well. Brandon arrived nice and early, he looked clean cut (although he was wearing a polo to a wedding, we're cool with that because we're sort of a come as your are kind of crowd). he brought so much equipment he actually blew the fuse at the venue (they swear thats never happened). But it was a quick fix. Right up until the reception started, i would give Brandon four stars. But unfortunately, he did a few things during the wedding that drove us nuts: -- We spent an insane amount of time and effort creating playlists and burning CDs for Brandon. We provided like 8 hours of music for him to go from (including a whole lot of jazz to play during meals), so there really shouldnt have been any reason why we would hear a song thats not on the playlist. And yet the music he played while we were eating was this weird synthy stuff that we never ever would have chosen. my hubby hates synth music. --after the father-daughter dance, for the first REAL dance of the night, we hoped he'd play something to get everyone out on the dance floor. we gave him a lot of dance music to choose from. but instead he chose to lead with 'play that funky music white boy' (awful) and he followed it up with 'ice ice baby' (worse). We couldnt understand how he got so far away from the music list and style we requested. we sucked it up and danced anyway, but it was super awkward. --at one point, he left the dj booth altogether, and when the song ended there was dead silence for several minutes until he got back (so noticable. many guests commented on it to me). I get that everyone needs a bathroom break, but he should have made sure there were enough songs ready to play automatically while he stepped away. -- i forgot to specify a song for the bouquet toss prior to the wedding. Brandon didnt mention it to me until it was just about to happen, and i quickly pointed to one of the songs on my original playlist to put on right away so we can do the bouqet toss. well, my ladies lined up and were raring to go, and i waited a while for him to find the right track, but the song never came on. i ended up tossing the bouquet to what i would refer to as elevator music. this one's a little bit my fault, but he shouldve asked me a little sooner about the song, so he had time to find it. All in all, i think Brandon was a good value for the price. I would probably recommend him to another budget-conscious bride. i just wanted to provide explanation as to why i couldnt give him a better review. i certainly hope he takes my constructive criticism to heart. he's a genuinely good guy and i wish him all the best.

Christine made sure everyone (DJ, furniture rental, caterer, bar service, etc.) was on the same page, caught & fixed any mistakes in our contracts that might have caused an issue on the wedding day, and made sure that my entire family was able to relax and enjoy the wedding day.
