The humus was good but they did not add any olive oil to it and no topping as they show on the pictures . So it was only a plan humus in a container. The worst ever place to get food as the person have attitude issue and charge me for the sauces and food but did not even give me the full set of shawarma with fries ...whenever the changes of employee in that location every time we have issue...the prices they charge extra but don't give what we ask and every time they don't have what we want to order.This is not my first time it's been couple of time but I just don't say anything when I call and ask he hang up on the phone. Heard about this place from a local Foodie Site so we had to try the shawarma.. The young man behind the counter of the food truck was very gracious. He was also swamped with customers and was the only one working. He is parked in from of a car wash and parking and traffic are not ideal. One picnic table to use so we shared with another two diners. My hubs had the equivalent to a beef shawarma, cut diagonally and served with fries. He liked his. I had a chicken shawarma and while it was pretty good, it isn't your tradional "real mid eastern" shawarma. The bread was more of a Flatbread pita, which I did like, because it was thin like a real shawarma, but there was no tomato, pickled turnips and while the sauce was good, it isn't the garlicky delicious sauce I am still searching for in Houston. I added some fries from my hubs plate to my sandwich. I brought one to my son, the connoisseur of shawarmas and he liked it. My one complaint. A shawarma should never be pressed on a Panini Press. Why some places do it here is beyond me. We will return because the young man was so gracious, but I will try something else next time. I ordered 2 gyros and fries from this place via grubhub tonight and was sorely disappointed with my meal. I know what a gyro should look like, nice pita bread, meat and the fixings. Well I received a cold gyro that look like a burrito cut up thrown over fries, for 18.00 you would think you get a whole sandwich and fries to the side with some steamed or boiled carrots and green beans. They were nasty, it had an after taste to it. Ive had the sandwich many times but gave these people a chance and they totally screwed up If I can attach photos I will so you don't think I'm just saying anything but actually let you see it. Cold and hard fries was just the topping. I didn't expect them hot out the grease cold but I don't live far and if they were fresh out of the grease they would at least would've been warm. Please be aware of this place. I placed a pickup order via Uber. When I went to pickup the order, the employee was very rude and mentioned that another driver took my order. He refused to give me order. I saw him accepting the charges and he was trying to scam me by not giving my order. After some screaming, he gave my order without my fries. When I asked again, he gave it to me. This is not the first time this has happened. Previously, I placed an order to be picked up. When I went to the location to pick up my order, they mentioned they were cleaning the location in the middle of the day as such they are not processing any orders. Got the chicken shawarma. I've had better. Getting the combo and not just the shawarma by itself makes all the difference apparently. If you are just getting the sandwich, you are basically getting dry chicken in a wrap, no veggies and no sauce. And if you do get the combo, you'll get a load of almost burnt fries and two slices of pickled carrots and one pickled cauliflower floret, yes one. read more

One of the nicest things about living in Houston is all of the great halal food trucks that have popped up across the city, with Abu Omar standing out as one of the best among them. Before I moved to Spring I would occasionally eat at the one on Westheimer, which was convenientlyy located next to a bus stop and across the street from a Barnes and Noble. It was one of our favorite places to stop on a Saturday night and when I moved to Spring I worried that I wouldn't be able to eat at Abu Omar as often as I used to; I was completely wrong. Now it seems like I eat here every week, sometimes more than once, and I got several other people hooked on Abu Omar in the process. This location is every bit as good as the one on Westheimer. Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious, and their shawarma and kibbe are easily some of the best in the Houston area.
