We'd never heard of Durfee's, but locals tell us it's been around quite a few years and is something of an institution in this community. We browsed for about 30 minutes on both levels -- the lower level has seemingly a alf acre of shoes of all types -- and checked out the men's and women's clothing on the main level. With this large stock the aisles are a little crowded, but not a big deal. They carry a lot of well-known brands like Patagonia, Dansk, Carhartt, Nike, Brooks, etc., and in general we found their prices to be a bit below larger outlets. Looking for hoodies, for instance, we found items we had seen priced elsewhere at $49 to be $29 here. We're awfully glad we chose to stop here. And as we walked out we discovered an interesting restaurant across the street (Wooden Soldier) which we are now eager to write about as well.
