A true general store in the sense that they have it all in here. I was surprised to see everything the store had. Just when you think you have seen it all, there is another corner to turn and check out. We went in looking for maple syrup and came out with marmalade, a hat and an ornament. So much to look at and purchase. If you want anything "Vermont" then this is the top go to.

A must stop when in downtown Woodstock Every single turn you take here opens up to a new huge section of the store. Everything you could possibly want is here. Huge cookbook section, snacks, local goods and souvenirs. There's a photo in the middle of the front of the store dated back to before 1906. It's worth the read!

General store. Huge old general store.

If u need groceries, winter hat, gloves, sox. Those must haves like the old type espresso maker, small waffle maker. They thought of everything we All Need these days. Great for just looking around too

From the web. The staff really is as nice and friendly as they look here.

This store is shopping heaven. I can easily lose myself in it for quite a long time. When you walk in you can't tell just how big a place this really is. It's only as you work your way toward the back of the store that you realize it winds this way and that and in fact has quite a large footprint. It seems everything and anything can be found under this roof from local Vermont products like maple syrup, to organic beauty supplies such as creams and lotions, household goods, garden supplies, hardware, knick-knacks, chocolate, Vermont cheese, wine and beer. You name it, they probably sell it. There really once was an F.H. Gillingham who was the founder of this general store back in the 1880s. It's been here ever since and with the same guarantee: If you don't like it, return it and you will get your money back or a replacement. During our latest visit a woman had set up a table inside the store where she was selling her locally made caramels and giving out samples. Oh my. We were hooked and bought a few boxes to give as gifts. My favorite were the Salted Caramels. I was good though; I only bought them as presents. The store is incredibly charming with pleasant and helpful staff. The state of Vermont has done a top-notch job of supporting local crafts and small businesses. As a result, when one sees "Made in Vermont" on a product, it is generally thought to be a quality item. I certainly think so. FH Gillingham & Sons fills many of its aisles with such local products and the breadth and variety of things is quite pleasing. While we found a number of things to buy here for Christmas gifts, we didn't find the elusive store cat who was doing a good job of hiding somewhere! :-(( This store is not to be missed when visiting Woodstock.

Moose of course. It's Vermont! Kids section is so cute!

No trip to the sweetest, most picturesque New England town of Woodstock, Vermont is complete without a stop at iconic FH Gillingham and Sons. It is THE most amazing general store I have ever been to and has been going strong and remained family owned since 1886. Do not miss a trip here! The beer selection is TO DIE FOR! Vermont is home to some of my favorite crafts in the world and they have them all here! Make your own 6 packs! Yea baby! Homemade jams and chocolates galore! You'll find maple everything, pastas and sauces. Yum! Bath and body goods. Handmade candles. The kids section is adorable! Get your gifts for everyone here! I could go on and on about all the goods they have here, but I would run out of room....they really have it all!! It's such a fantastic store! A must stop! Oh, and if you're here around the holidays, probably for the town's annual Wassail Weekend, grab some of their paper-whites! They are bulbs you "force" and are oh so beautiful! It's a little tradition in the store to sell them.

This is a must visit store in Woodstock, VT. I came here after visiting the Sugarbush Farm because I grew up in a small town and love exploring what they have to offer. This particular store takes the cake when it comes to unique small town nature. First off this was the type of store that existed in ye old'n days. I mean when they say a convenience store has everything you need this is the kind of store that comes to mind. Now keep in mind this place is as old as the town so the store hasn't been updated since then so this is real old world look and feel. Upon entering the store you are faced with the standard food section of a grocery store, except that the shelves are wood from a hundred year old trees. The floor is the same and even sags in spots, which to me is where the charm of this old store is found. However, what really makes this place unique is the fact that it carry's everything like an old world Amazon. They even provide free sample food like Costco. We picked up free coffee and cheese that were made by local farms. The further back you go the more unique and wide ranging the items become. There is a hunting section that sells gun's, bows and arrows and fishing materials including hand made fly catching. Right next to it is home goods such as tools and other items to help fix up the home. There is even a section for clothing as well as a gaming zone. I sat down with my fiancee and had a wonderful game of checkers on a large cloth game board. Overall this is a must stop location, a part of history and how the world used to be before the modernization of the cities, our lives and our way of living that we see now.

This is just about the cutest store ever. I felt a bit like Laura Ingalls as I wandered the aisles. Everything from the wines, cheeses, rootbeers, and wandering cats just made me feel very relaxed. This was a wonderful vacation - and one of the stops was right here in this precious little country store that sold just about anything I could think of. Friendly service.

Great little general store to pick up various things. For me, the appeal was the locally made syrups, honeys, spreads, chocolates, etc.

A little bit of this ... a little bit of that is what makes Gillingham's a staple go to place in Woodstock. Love it.
