Very disappointing experience. Had used the company before on another property and service was good. Not this time. Technician came out, did not do usual diagnostics on existing unit, but determined controller board was bad. We waited several weeks for them to try and obtain the part, and were unsuccessful. They suggested we try to contact the manufacturer directly. Solution ended up being go to the mfg site, find a company certified by them, call, get service. Turns out the board wasn't bad at all, the unit just needed servicing. It had been neglected for awhile, but kept working, so other priorities took precedence. Just needed to be tweaked and "topped off." AC for Less failed to impress on this job. read more

I own a rental in El Mirage, my old AC unit needed a replacement, I had 3 bids for 3 tons, from $9200 ,$4860 and $4300. I went with the cheapest that was provided by cooling for less, their sale manager Josh called me and I told him to deal with my property management company. They unit was installed 2 days later, working great. I highly recommend them, the price is much below what the others priced me and they are fast to response. Great service. read more

My old A/C started to struggle to cool my house. Cooling for Less was recommended to me by a friend. Their tech came out and gave me the news that I did not want. The coolant was low and would not be cost effective to replace. However, while not nice news to hear, better than throwing money at old system. Tech gave office my details. Called Frank after a day and got a quote for new Trane and Goodman system. Was advised Trane was better. Got other quotes, but after considering professionalism and price went with cooling for Less. Glad I did! Both Frank and Steve were great. Installation crew were also very professional. From the first call to the installation of the thermostats this company is top notch. Got estimates from 3 companies and I would have gone with this company just based on customer service even if the price was equal to the other quotes . However, the quote came in THOUSANDS of dollars less than the others and for BETTER, more efficient units. We needed to replace two and the office worked financing miracles. The owner himself stopped by the night before the install to make sure everything was in place and two new units were delivered and installed the next day. It was a long, hot, humid install but I certainly appreciate it! Service team came back to install better thermostats and clean out the vents. We're still waiting for the drywall repair, but that's a contracted service and apparently he's super busy right now. I don't write Yelp reviews often, but when I do.......its always because I had either a terrible experience or a an extraordinary one. (ha, kinda felt like the dos equis guy saying that...) Anyway, I have an investment property in Gilbert (wouldn't call it much of an investment anymore, but that's another story for another time...) and Gerry and his team came through big time for me. Initially, we had another company come out and they told us the entire unit would need to be replaced to the tune of $3400...and this was after they said they put a pound of freon in the unit (which they didn't ask to do in advance...and wasn't really necessary). Naturally, I wanted a second opinion, so I found Cooling for Less and had them come out for an inspection and estimate. They were able to identify the root cause of the problem and were able to provide a solution that didn't require us to replace the entire unit. Totally impressed that they were able to find the real issue and honest enough to take care of it instead of just saying "oh yeah, you need to replace it and we'll do it for $100 less than the other guys". Really impressed with this company! The front office staff was amazing- I called on a really busy day and they promised to get me in between 2-4pm, then called back a minute later to say a technician was in the area and would be over immediately. He was great- got the problem figured out quickly and VERY reasonable prices. The last AC service we used gave me a service time of 1-5pm then didn't show up until 6, with never a courtesy call to let me know they would be running late...which is ridiculous since I'm sure they knew I was the last person on the route. Guess what, they don't want to fix it and the home warranty doesn't either. Though it's a 2K fix for me. My A/C died a few weeks ago. My home warranty company has refused to replace my unit or give me any cash out on my old unit (see my review of Platinum Home Warranty). In a bind, I contacted several companies for quotes. Jerry was the first to contact me! I knew I liked him the moment we spoke. He asked the questions he needed about my condo and made his recommendations. He is very personable and understanding. He lays all the cards out on the table and tells you the facts. He isn't the "Used Car Salesman" type. He doesn't push you or try to oversell you. He even encouraged me to talk to other companies and see what they had to say and get their quotes. That told me volumes about his character. Jerry and Freddie came out to my condo this afternoon to give me an in person quote. They checked out my old unit and listed what all work would have to be done. I did have two other companies out a few days ago. Jerry told me exactly what they told me. All three companies have pretty close the same quote and all three recommended a Trane. Jerry did talk me about a Bryant model that was about $1000 less. The other two companies only recommended a specific model of Trane. No other choices. Jerry took the time to explain his three models that he recommended (two of them being a Trane), how they differed, and what to expect from each of them in performance, cool air, their longevity (wear and tear), and maintenance. Though this honestly had nothing to do with choosing Cooling For Less for my new Trane 3 ton heat pump, he was $200 less than the lowest offer for a similar Trane model from one of the other estimates. I have nothing against the two other companies. Both are highly recommended on Yelp, and I can understand why. All I can say is that Jerry and Freddy gave me the feeling that these were two gentlemen I could trust and I feel if I should ever need to have them come out to do any repairs in the next 10 years on this unit, they will take good care of me. read more

Well, as the name you would think this place would be inexpensive but don't be fooled. I don't ever write bad reviews, in fact my first, (I'm not one of those serial writers) but I got charged $280 to install a $40 part that took 15 minutes to install. He actually tried to charge us more, but my fiancé was here before install. I also tried to show him the 'yelp deal' and he told me that didn't apply although the deal was still active on the yelp app. Also, my AC unit is fairly new under warranty, and the tech said that the specific part wasn't covered, but it was part of the unit in fact. Unfortunately, I was at the mercy of being left without AC for a day and had 2 appointments set up the day prior as no one was available yesterday. A company I used prior, Howard Air and them. I wish Howard Air came first, because the last time they were reputable, reasonable, and very honest. The tech was friendly and I'm not bashing him at all as I'm sure puppet hands are in control. read more

I just want to say that I have never received this type of excellent customer service in 20 years!!! Our home air conditioner died 2 days ago (bad compressor) and here in Phoenix in July that's not fun. I decided to search Craigslist and kept finding "Cooling for less" advertising every day for the last two months. I decided to check their reviews and they were all very good. Last night I called their number and spoke to a very nice gentleman by the name of Louis, I had no idea he was the sales manager because he was very down to earth and answered every question I threw at him. Louis said he would be at my home between 7 and 7:30am, he showed up at 7:10am. After talking for about 30-35 minutes and upon my credit approval, he told me the new unit would be installed today. He wasn't kidding, 45 minutes after he left I get a call from a nice young lady by the name of Norma telling me two techs would be there around 10:30am. Well, they also showed up earlier and so did the crane ( I have a roof mount unit). Robert and Junior worked very fast and were very professional. To sum this up, I had COLD air blowing out of my vents by 12:20 pm. Everything was done in 4 hours!! I was so happy with their service, and their price is very, very competitive. I highly recommend Cooling for less, they are fast, professional, very reasonably priced, and most important, they stand behind what they sell...excellent customer service. After several attempts to try to get a salesperson to come to my house and actually look at my system, the salesperson (Louis) just blew off the appointment. I waited for over an hour and would have waited longer, but I called him after this "no show" and he simply said, "I quoted you over the phone. The offer stands." That's just total crap. If I am going to spend over $10,000. to put in air conditioning units, I need for someone to make a visit to my home, to inspect the current system, to conduct a preliminary test, as Consumer Guide explains. He could not be bothered because he was busy. And because I was not prepared to install the units tomorrow. I needed to wait for 8 days. I then called the owner to explain my dilemma, but he (the owner) just had this same salesman call me back. Can you imagine that the owner of the company did not call me to apologize for the behavior of the salesman? And knowing that I was confused and upset, the owner should have known that I did not want to talk to the same arrogant, confrontational idiot that had just been rude to me. So the salesperson, Louis, called me back and said some inappropriate things to me, berated me and was so rude that I was in shock; and then to add insult to injury, just hung the phone up on me. So, if I am treated like this beforehand, just think how I would be treated if I had a problem with the system. Thank you Lord for showing me who these people really are. Jerks. read more

I had this company to install a unit in 2012. the first crew that came out I had to refuse to pay. the company sent another crew to finish the install. nothing but problems with the unit. called for service several times. takes a couple of days to get some one to come fix the unit. called to have the service manager contact me. he never called me back. finally had another company install a new unit this year. was told there was several pieces of the equipment that were not installed. they were stashed inside. read more

Our AC went out and they said someone will contact you shortly to let you know when a tech will be out..... hours go by and nothing... my wife calls again a few hours later after not hearing anything and hanging out at the mall with our 6 month and 4 year old because the house is over 90 degrees. Still nothing... finally around 3:30pm they say someone will be out in 2 hours. My wife leaves the kids at her parents and goes home.... 2.5 hrs go by.... call... nothing.... another 1/2 hour goes by... he will be there in 45 minutes from the west side.... given traffic my wife waits until 7:30pm before calling back and they won't give straight answers... they "think" the tech is on his way and should be there shortly.... my friend owns an Ac company and knows where his techs are at all times... I don't believe them for one second. I forgot to mention the call was listed as a priority, well apparently this companies priorities were to get home to their homes which have AC where they could rest comfortably... meanwhile my wife and 2 small kids are sleeping on a couch at her parents house. This company was chosen by my property manager and I really hope they no longer use them after this... still can't get straight answers or call backs this morning from them. read more

I have a highly complicated ductwork setup on a flat roof (i.e. - spiderweb of ducting under foam). After having another company spend nearly a month butchering my 15 year old Goettl heat pump (long story, but they did make it right), we came to the conclusion that $1800 to replace the reversing valve in the old battle tank was too much to spend on such an old unit. I decided to replace the unit. I had 3 people come out to do quotes 2 Fridays ago - including the ones who spent nearly a month working on it. After a week, only 1 responded with a quote of $9,600 for the bottom end 5 Ton Trane heat pump. The two others never bothered to follow up. I found that odd as I live way out in the sticks, so it's a haul out here. Anyway, I decided I needed another quote and called Cooling for Less last Friday. Their quote for a Carrier 5 ton heat pump with heat strips (also the bottom line unit) was over $4,000 less than my other quote. They asked when we could get started, and I responded "yesterday!". We agreed on Monday if the weather would permit, but they had to push back due to high winds and rain. They called to let me know Monday morning. They started the install on Tuesday. By the end of the day Wednesday, we had heat again for the first time in 5 weeks! The only reason it took two days was because they had to have a new transition piece fabricated to go from the over/under config to the side by side config - which happen to be on the wrong sides. Remember - I have a spider web of foamed in ductwork that can not be moved without risking major roof leaks! They actually made a comment that this was a fun install due to having to figure out how to get the unit in the space provided and do the transition to the existing ductwork. It gets about 14 degrees colder here than downtown Phoenix, so we've been using a lot of space heaters for the last 5 weeks to keep this 1/2 of the house warm. It got down to 26 degrees Wed night, and the unit performed like a champ - and actually shuts off rather than running constantly all night long going in and out of defrost mode while barely keeping the house at 68. Airflow is better than it ever was with the old battle tank. I'm considering closing the vent in the master bath toilet room as it's actually getting unbearably hot in there whit the unit running! As an added bonus, we can hear each other talk when in the courtyard - the old Goettl was NOT a quiet unit (that's why we call it the battle tank!) Great job, honest no BS prices, and gave me a lot of free advice on what is probably the most arcane A/C configuration ever. There are a lot of ripoff artists in this valley when it comes to HVAC. There are also a lot of techs who don't know their condenser from a hole in the ground! These guys are knowledgable, professional, straightforward, and have won me over for all my future HVAC needs. read more

We hired Reeis for our energy audit and had the changes made that were recommended. They added attic insulation, another return and changed the grate on the old return plus sealing the ductwork and it really made a difference. Half of the house was always too cold just to keep the other half bearable.... but now we have cool air in every room. Our SRP bills have been lower every month since it was done in May 2012. :) So we also hired Reeis to audit and insulate our rental this summer. It was very warm there and never got above 83 or so with the ac unit running non stop. They did everything that was done in our home; insulation, sealing the ductwork, plus a tune-up on the ac unit. Reports are that it is more comfortable and cool air is reaching all of the rooms. If there were a negative to report it is in the industry's terminology used when reading the energy audit, so it was intimidating and confusing when speaking of repairs that needed to be done. We did one small repair ourselves so as to save some money and that was ok with them. Each house cost about $3000 ( under 1700 sq ft in size) and around $450 comes back in rebates each. Don't know how long it will take to recoup our output maybe never but at least we are all more comfortable. read more

After calling Cooling for Less, I felt confident about their qualifications. Jerry was very nice on the phone and offered to come out to take a look at our unit to give us an estimate on replacement. He said he would call me Monday morning to arrange a time when he could come by because we are slightly outside his service area. Monday comes, I wait...and wait...and wait. No call, no show. I'm extremely disappointed. I could have had multiple people out today for estimates, but I was so impressed by him on the phone that I sat around all day in hopes that he was just busy. Now I've missed out on other potential quotes and our unit is still not working. We'll be without air now for at least 5 additional days because I work during the week and won't be home to meet with other technicians. I understand that this is a busy period for a/c replacement due to the upcoming expiration on tax rebates, but it seems to me that a customer who's about to hand you a $5,000 check should at least get a phone call if you can't make it out. 1 star. I'd love to tell you how he is at repairing/replacing units, but I never got the chance. read more

Can't say enough about Cooling for Less and the owner Gerry. Our A/C went out on a Saturday morning in the middle of June. Called Cooling for Less, but Gerry informed me that he wouldn't be able to fit us in that day. However, he did offer to let us call him with any questions we might have about what another company's technician diagnosed. Called another company who's technician couldn't figure out what was wrong and seemed more interested in selling their maintenance plan than actually fixing our system. Called Gerry back at 6:00pm Saturday evening. He actually answered the phone and promised to have someone out first thing Monday morning. Frankie the technician showed up first thing Monday morning and within 15 minutes had the problem diagnosed. Later that same day Gerry showed up with a crew and had our new unit installed before the end of the day. There are a lot of less than honest A/C repair companies in the valley, but Cooling for Less and Gerry are the model for an honest, courteous and professional contractor. read more

They deserve more than 5 stars...We just had a Lennox A/C Heat Pump put in yesterday by Cooling For Less. We had them quote us back in March and their pricing was lowest for higher quality products, but our A/C was still working even though it was 21 years old. On Sunday (Fathers Day) we came home to a 96 degree house. I called my warranty company AHS and they sent a company to find the problem. Found out it needed replacement they gave me a price and would be able to replace it on the following Saturday. We immediately called Cooling For Less and Grant and Gerry said they would come out that night and get measurements and be able to put it in the very next morning starting at 7AM. Their price was far better than the other company and the product they gave us was far above the others. The crew got here as they said at 7AM and started removal right away. By 3PM they were completely done and everything was cleaner than when they started. They even straightened out some of the duct work and improved our system. I was VERY impressed with the crew that did the job. Very nice, honest, hard working, clean and professional.I've lived here for 22 years and have had a lot of work done by contractors, but have yet to find a business as professional as them. Then I called the office for a question about a rebate thru SRP and the secretary at the office within an hour sent to me everything I needed for my rebate plus all of the warranty information filled out and already called into Lennox.
