Issues with communication and scheduling, and work not being done as promised. During quoting he…read moreemphasized that he would make sure the work was done with quality and would come back as he needed if I was unhappy with something. This promise was not kept. For context we started a job worth about $4000 back in Feb 2024 -- replacement toilets, installing vent hood, fixing a portion of drywall and paint in 3 spots in the ceiling, and changing window balances. It is now a year and half later and I am dissatisfied with everything but the vent hood and it has been so difficult to get Mike to come back and fix things. Toilet replacement - toilet was leaking from the flange somewhere still after the replacement, he would not come back to fix after I asked him 3 times about this issue Paint - we had a portion of the ceiling painted after drywall repairs -- I had a can of paint in my garage from previous homeowner but wasn't sure if it would match. Mike went ahead and did the whole ceiling and it ended up not matching -- he still charged ME when doing the repainting, implying that I took responsibility. Lesson learned -- don't ever try to help a contractor. Overall just a really confusing experience, I should have followed my instincts and pestered about the expectations and cost but I thought we had some rapport for some reason. Changing window balances - This was the most egregious... we needed new window balances on 10 or so windows in my home per Mike's suggestion. I called him and texted him multiple times asking when he would come back to do this... it took him several months and he gave me excuses saying it was hard for him to get the parts, because he wanted to give me quality balances and not the cheap kind. When he came he didn't bring the balances, and he judged that my old balances were fine and they just needed adjusting. He actually left one window without a balance, and never got back to me about the new parts which I wanted left at my place because it was part of the original contract. Also after a few weeks the problem came back and the windows were tough to open again.

We initially decided to use him because of the amount of 5 star reviews on Angi, raving about his…read moreattention to detail and professionalism. What we received was as far from either of those as we could have gotten. We hired him to paint the soffit and fascia around the house, some trim pieces on the north and south roof gables, the garage door, and caulk between the wall planks and paint the front and back porches and trim. My wife paid him on Friday the 22nd, after indicating that he was just about done, as we both were working our jobs while he was to be tending to the house, it was her mistake for paying him without giving a good look over, at the time he seemed like a trustworthy man. Had I been there to see what he was leaving us with, he wouldn't have gotten a dime. He told her if we mark spots that need touch ups, he would be out in a day or so to finish up any touch-ups that may be needed. We gave the porches a quick glance over and found several touch-up spots, and I messaged him to let him know that there are some spots that need addressed and he said he'll be back the next week when he's in town. Over the weekend, we took a closer look over everything, and the more we looked, the more issues we found. Only half of the front porch was caulked, and what was caulked was messy, with big globs of silicon, edge ridges of the caulking where it should have been feathered in to the gap, large gaps in the caulking, plank joints just not caulked at all. The paint coating was light, with spots of the old color showing through, parts already flaking as it dried, large caulk blobs painted over, and parts just totally missed. A door that was removed off the hinges to paint both sides was painted solid, windows and all, without the windows even being masked off. The trim was just as bad, as the attached pictures will indicate, with sloppy transitions between the trim and the wall, and paint already flaking off as it dried. The rear porch was just as bad as well, with thin spots of the old color showing through, sloppy transitions, and even finger prints of the trim paint color on the wall. The gable trims were sprayed instead of brushed, and not even completely, and with overs-pray on my month old roof shingles from the gun. There was also overs-pray on the concrete floor of the porch and on the concrete drive under the garage door, and overs-pray on my relatively new front porch window and screens. I filed a complaint about his work with ANGI and he started sending me harassing messages, threatening to call my employer with lies about being high when I left for work if I continued to seek compensation for his shoddy work (he didn't deny it was bad. I even have posted an image of him pretty much admitting that it was). I work at a job that gets tested regularly and randomly, so simply the fact that I am able to maintain that job shows he's full of lies. I will be seeing him in small claims court. If you hire this guy, be very vigilant, and look everything over very well before giving him even a penny. I'd recommend just not taking the chance. I am adding photographs to back up this review. I'm not sure how long they will be allowed to stay, but I have proof of everything I claim about his workmanship.
