The owner called to "follow up" and "make things right". He insisted on coming out to run the same diagnostic tests. When I refused he insisted again on collecting the $50 service call fee and was as rude as the technician.

As I said, if they succeed in improving their communication, Mother Modern was one of very few companies working on the weekend. So if you have a real emergency, hopefully Mother Modern can be at your door soon to address your issue. Original Review: I am only evaluating how hard it is to schedule a time slot with Mother Modern if you do not have a wide open schedule. They were difficult to communicate with, bumped our appointment, and showed up at a random time when we were not available. We have jobs, so we ended up hiring a more professional company that could give us a time slot. If you have an emergency and are *very* flexible, will be home all day, and won't mind if your time slot is bumped, then maybe try Mother Modern. A point in their favor is that they were working on the weekend. We had an exterior leak sizable enough that we had to shut off water to the house. Of course we found it at ten 'til 5 on a Saturday. We fully expected not to get an appt until Monday and were prepared to live without water for a few days. But on Sunday morning we were able to get an appt scheduled for 2 pm with Mother Modern. We then got ready for church, but just before leaving we got a call saying they were in the area and could come now. We said we preferred our 2pm appt; it worked with our schedule for the day. He said that another job had been scheduled for 2 and our appt had been canceled. What?! We had stopped contacting potential plumbers because we had made a firm appt with these guys. He said they could come Monday instead but couldn't give a time window, just that they "will call 30 min prior." You can't even tell me if it will be morning or afternoon on a weekday? Clients are just supposed to be available all day on a workday? Very odd. We wanted to try to find a more reliable company, so we said (in case we couldn't make an appt with someone else) that if they had someone available Monday AFTERNOON, to give us 1 hour notice so we could meet the technician. They sent someone first thing Monday MORNING and gave half hour notice. We missed meeting this technician, of course. The company wants your business, but has real communication and scheduling issues. Maybe Mother Modern specializes in the most urgent of emergencies and expects you to be anxiously waiting on property 24/7 for them to show. So if you're desperate or very flexible, maybe this company will work for you. If you have a job, then Mother Modern might be a headache to deal with. I was starting to wonder if maybe this was considered normal for an area like DFW, but no. We found a mystery exterior leak on our property the weekend before Christmas and had to shut off water to the house. After another plumbing company scheduled an appointment for us and then later canceled it with no explanation, we called True Plumbing on Monday morning. Eric from True Plumbing showed up when he said he would, took a quick look at our problem, and explained the three possible causes of the leak, along with how much each would cost to fix if said problem was found. The area would have to be minimally excavated to locate the underground leak. He was very up front about what the diagnostic process would be and what the repairs would entail for each of the three possible scenarios, including what he would do to avoid damaging the driveway. Eric was transparent, very easy to communicate with, and obviously a knowledgable, experienced plumber. After that five-minute conversation, my husband and I both felt 100% comfortable hiring True Plumbing to come back with a team to excavate the problem the next day. True Plumbing got to work when they said they would, the day before Christmas Eve no less. Sure enough, the problem was scenario #1 on their list of three possible causes of the leak. A decade before we bought the house, the sprinkler system had been connected to the house's water pipes using an illegal part that had finally failed. True Plumbing said that since sprinkler technicians are not certified plumbers, problems like that are common. Be careful who you hire to tamper with your water pipes! True Plumbing fixed the leak and we had water restored to the house within a couple of hours! The cost ($800) matched the verbal estimate to the penny. Use a debit card or cash to avoid the 3% credit card fee. They even completely cleaned up their work site. Real professionals. 100% recommend.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with this company and would not recommend them…read more I purchased a yearly maintenance membership for over $200 (paid up front) because I wanted my AC system tuned up. When I texted to schedule my maintenance, I also mentioned one room that seemed warmer than the rest and asked if they could take a look at it while they were already there. Instead of scheduling the maintenance I had already paid for, they set up an entirely different service appointment without making that clear to me. When the technician arrived, he told me he couldn't do the maintenance that day and that I would have to schedule another appointment. Then he looked at the warmer room and assured me the repair "wouldn't be that much." Later, I find out that he was supposed to have shown me an estimate BEFORE he did any work. That obviously did not happen because I would have said absolutely not. He spent very little time in the attic, claimed he "unblocked" one vent and adjusted dampers, then handed me a bill for $199. Even with a veteran's discount, I still paid $174 that I was never expecting to spend. I had literally just paid over $200 for a maintenance membership, and instead of receiving the service I paid for, I left with another unexpected bill. To make matters worse, the technician appeared unprofessional. He was coughing constantly and seemed to have difficulty breathing from the moment he arrived until he left. His clothes were dirty, and his zipper was halfway down the entire visit. It did not inspire confidence in the quality of the work being performed. After everything was over, I honestly cried because I felt completely taken advantage of. The technician knew I hadn't intended to schedule that service, yet he reassured me it wouldn't cost much before presenting me with a $199 charge. I contacted the company afterward. They refunded my membership fee, but they have refused to provide a detailed invoice explaining exactly what I was charged for. The technician simply entered a dollar amount with no itemized breakdown. As a customer, I deserve to know what I paid for. The worst part? The room is still warmer than the rest of the house. I don't even know if anything was actually fixed, and after this experience, I don't trust the claims that the vent was "unblocked" or that the dampers were adjusted. This entire experience felt misleading, unprofessional, and unfair. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
