Nadesha is a true miracle worker. A few days ago I got highlights and a haircut that I was not crazy about. I have a wedding to attend in less than a week and i was panicking. The highlights were far too stripey and didn't suit my complexion at all. Nadesha was able to transform them into a beautiful, warm color that will look wonderful for the fall! She also gave a great haircut that give my fine hair a ton of movement. I'm extremely pleased with the work Nadesha did and will be returning! read more

I love Nadeesha - she's wonderful and maybe the best stylist I've ever had. I would normally give 5 stars but I just cannot bring myself to go back. After going here for one year and being charged differently ever time, enough is enough. While checking out during my last visit, I was told I owed $165. Note - I had a partial highlight, NO haircut and I left with wet hair (my choice as I was in a rush). When I questioned this, the person apologized and said she was confused. I was then charged $135. What? (This is before tip.). According to their website, it's about half of this price. I was told I had a glaze and that's why it was so much. Note - I wasn't asked if I wanted this. In the 8 times I went, I was always charged differently. Nadeesha was wonderful - she wasn't the one checking me out but I would think that they would keep records of this. Feeling like I was taken advantage of just because of the Falmouth location. read more

I wrote and posted this on the Acapello Facebook page but it was deleted within an hour. The only reason I am now posting it is because a poor review wasn't even allowed on their page. This was crap work and they know it: After speaking with a very close friend, on her recommendation, I made an appointment with her hair stylist, Lindsay at Acapello in Freeport. About an hour prior to my appointment, I received a call telling me Lindsay called in sick. I was asked if I could reschedule my appointment. Since I was booked solid at work for over a week and a half, I told the young lady that I was looking for a very simple bob cut just below my chin. She recommended Lilly. I accepted and scheduled an appointment for that very day since she had an opening. When I got to Acapello, I had to wait 30 minutes for Lilly to be free. She and I had a discussion on what I was looking for and I showed her a picture. We agreed on an inch or inch and a half off in length. She assured me it was an easy cut and shouldn't take long. She shampooed and conditioned and start cutting the back of my hair. A few minutes into the hair cut, I heard her say, "ooh...". I snapped my head up and she said she had cut more like two and a half inches and asked me if that was okay. I literally said, "Well, it's going to have to be, isn't it?" She told me it would still look nice and kept hacking away. While she was cutting, we talked about how my hair is wavy and frizzy and it would be nice to have a cut that I could work with my natural hair. I told Lilly that I straighten it for work as it is more professional. As Lilly was drying my hair, I noted what appeared to be a large bare spot on the left side of my head. This is my predominant side, so all of my hair sweeps to the left side of my face. I told myself it was just the way my hair was laying and asked is she would mind showing me how to curl it. I had a meeting in 45 minutes and was afraid if the bare spot was real that it would look bad for a meeting with a new client. As Lilly walked me out she told me that I should go ahead and see Lindsay going forward. After getting home that evening, I ran my fingers through my hair and noted with utter horror that my hair had a huge chunk missing directly by my left temple. I literally did not sleep that night due to my dismay. I finally talked myself into thinking that in the morning I would shower and straighten it and it would all be fine. The next morning I did just that and noted it only got worse. Not only could I not wear my hair straight, but the back was entirely uneven and I couldn't even tuck it behind my ear due to there being severe step-like chunks. I wore a hat for 4 days straight. I called and spoke with a representative at the Freeport location and was told all I could get was a gift certificate for the amount. I called another location and spoke with the area manager, Tina. She said she would speak with the manager and talk to me on Tuesday. I never received a call, so I went in and got a gift certificate and purchase hair product. I was able to get into my normal hairstylist (who had been out of the country) and she thought she could fix it, but when she went in to check the cut, she found multiple chunks of hair missing underneath. There was no saving my hair. I had to cut it all off in a pixie cut. For no good reason other than a bad hairstylist. I don't know if she was on something or what the issue was. Quite frankly, I think Acapello should have to pay for me having to go elsewhere and CUT ALL OF MY HAIR OFF. I worked years to grow my hair out after having severe hair loss once my son was born. I am appalled and angry and frustrated with the lack of customer service and poor skills with this salon. I will continue to pass this along. And I ATTACHED THE PICTURES! read more

LOVE NEYDA! This girl is not only talented, she is sweet and took the stress right out of my day. Everything about her demeanor was perfectly charming. I only got a clean-up trim, but she massaged my head, put on sounds of the ocean to let me relax and made me feel like I was her #1 priority. i've been working in South Portland for about 2 months now...need a partial foil/hair cut done before the weekend...tried all sorts of places in and around the Portland/South Portland area...no one had an appt for me I called the Acapello Salon in Scarborough for an appt and they couldn't fit me in, so I went down the list to the Falmouth location and was able to get in I checked the service menu before going just to get an idea of prices, and they were very reasonable...which put up a semi-red flag for me since Falmouth does have high-end and subsequent high-price stores/shoppes, etc When I got to the salon, it was very clean, the receptionist was warm and welcoming, my hair stylist came right over and introduced herself She gave me a partial foil and did a great job to match up the color/highlights to what my former hair stylist, in New Hampshire, had done....it was a seamless match and looked very natural! Also, she gave me a great cut and even gave me a bit of a new look w/ the way she cut the angles/layers into my hair...and to top it all off, the price was very reasonable, much more competitive than Portland/South Portland i will definitely be back! read more

This is in regards to scheduling and their manager. I've had one appt here with Sheryl and she was FANTASTIC! I booked an appointment over a month out. I received various emails and text confirming the appointment. They ALL listed SCARBOROUGH as the location. This is also the only location I've ever gone to. This is also the location I asked for when I made the appointment. I show up and NO ONE can see me. They made a mistake; my stylist/appointment was in Yarmouth! I have 2 children under 2. Getting anywhere is difficult. They offered nothing to me for THEIR mistake and when I called back later that day, I was reassured the manager would call me. It's been a week and she has not. Stuff happens, mistakes are made. What is terrible is the customer service. my time and money was spent (childcare) and they offered me nothing but the opportunity to "wait and hour and we could get you in." read more

I have previously visited Men's Room, and the Freeport Acapello salons. These salons are efficient and top-tier, but neither compared to my experience at Acapello in Falmouth last night. Vanessa cut my hair (I'm a male and rock a sick disconnect) for the first time and it was TIGHT. I received a compliment by a stranger within 10 minutes of my cut. She did a great job, not only with the shears, but being a professional, approachable conversationalist that clearly was born to do what she does. I recommend Vanessa full-heartedly. If you're a guy that wants a sharp cut, see her. Also, I think the Freeport location needs at least ONE couch, but we will save that for a different review, another day. read more

Mom needed a haircut desperately, but hasn't had much luck finding someone near her in MA she liked. We walked into the salon while up here for holiday festivities. Monique gave my mother an amazing haircut!!! She listened intently to what mom wanted in a cut, recommended some aveda products that will help her keep the cut in shape. Booked an appointment for 9 am, first appointment of the day. I received 3! text messages reminding me of my upcoming appointment, which was annoying. Salon doors opened at 9:01. Sat in the waiting area after being told the stylist would be "right with me". The stylist walked back and forth around the salon without acknowledging my presence. Finally, 8 minutes later she told me she would be "right with me" and then she sat down at the front desk moving papers around. I waited 5 more minutes and decided to leave. This was my first appointment at this salon and no one seemed to be interested in making a good first impression. When I told her I was leaving she apologized and said she was running late and some things had "come up". That may have explained why she arrived late (which I could understand) but didn't explain why she made me wait 15 minutes after she arrived. There are too many salons in the area to put up with this kind of attitude. read more

Terrible experience! After getting a so-so (but expensive) haircut and blowdry, I opted for a lip waxing...OUCH! The wax burned the area above my lip! I had 1st degree burns and couldn't go out for several days. I called the owner of Acapello (in Scarborough), left two messages, and never got a call back. I stopped in to the Falmouth Salon (where I had gone) and all they did was give me some green glunk to put on the burned area. Didn't help, now I have a slight burn scar. Stay away!! Searching for a salon that uses Aveda products I was pleased to find the Acapello Salon and Spa in Falmouth, and very glad that prices were within a reasonable range ($78 for color touch up, cut, shampoo, blow dry) still - that's not cheap and being Aveda trained, I expected great results. I've been coloring my hair for years and have never had such a poor match - two weeks later and it looks like I have nearly an inch of grey because the root touch up was much lighter than the rest of my hair. The stylist wasn't able to get approval to do it over for free, as they have a 'within 7 days' policy. Flexibility on a case by case basis would have gone a long ways towards making this customer happy - unfortunately, someone held on a little too tight to their policy - I won't be back. read more

I chose this Acapello because I've always had great experiences with Aveda salons, but this was the exception. I will say my stylist did a good job, but this review is not about her, but about the salon itself. I had to walk under a ladder to get through the front door. Construction hazards were everywhere and the noise of drills and men stomping through the salon was less than the relaxing time I expect when I pay for an Aveda experience. I found out the construction was to place security cameras throughout the interior of the salon. Why?? This certainly isn't going to improve this salons lackluster decor (and lighting) nor will it make customers feel at ease and invited. I can only imagine how staff will feel being constantly monitored. I ended up with a pricey bill 50 dollars more than what I was quoted over the phone and then I was told tips can through cash or check. Between the disruptive installation of security cameras and a policy that makes giving tips to the stylists difficult, I walked away thinking the owner and management of this salon doesn't trust nor respect the work of it's employees nor does it understand that patrons care about giving their money to a place where workers are valued. Even with these things aside, the salon was blah and beneath the standards of the Aveda name. read more
