My aunt and I went to get mani/pedis and when we walked in there was only 2 people working and they seemed to have forgotten our appointment and confused us with another one for a half hour later. We had 1 person doing both our pedicures.. she didn't wear gloves. And rushed both of us. The owner inquired why she didn't use the part to create the bubbles and she said she didn't want too.. the tub liner ripped. We then moved over to get our manicures and she was not consistent.. she had my aunt only soaked one hand.. she didn't even massage my hands and but so much nail polish on that only the top layer dried and underneath was still wet so are nails are distorted and are completely messed up.. For $65 a person... I expect professional service.. read more

Honestly, this is the best place I've ever gone in my 41 years to get nails done. I wish I got the woman's name who did them, but I'll be sure to seek her out next time. I included a photo of my nails here which were done THREE days ago- and they still look so fresh! Zero chipping. I should have known better by this, and then by the high pressure pitch to get a gel pedicure (I declined). It didn't matter that I was the only customer there--the nail tech acted like he was in a mad rush to finish, answered calls on his headset, and even greeted and scheduled walk in customers, and then argued with a colleague who was clearly annoyed that he scheduled three pedicures at the same time. There were cuts on my toes, the polish application was messy, and no topcoat was applied. I could go on but I won't. I should have checked Yelp before walking in. Never again. read more

The individuals that did, my nails were truly amazing. They took their time, and made sure that everything looked great to me when they were done. Also, the owner who did my nails took extra special time with me to complete my manicure. Best salon in Greater Portland!! I used to go to magic nails on Forest Ave Portland when Julie worked there. NEVER liked that salon, owners were rude and I always worried about cleanliness- they didn't clean tubs well or the tools. I only went there because Julie was good and she was particular about sanitizing everything well. When she left and went to HOP I followed her there. 110% better salon! Julie is amazing still but the owner of HOP is as wonderful. Prices are same as most spas, it is VERY clean, they use safe nail products, and single use files and clean everything well. I walked in and got a pedicure right away! Staff is friendly. I opted for the deluxe pedicure. It was just okay for me as there wasn't much foot or leg massage involved, which is my favorite part. They wrapped my feet & legs in hot towels and did the hot stones but I kept waiting for my nail tech to slather my feet & legs in lotion and give a great massage! It never happened. The nails look nice though. The place is cute but I'm still trying other places in the area. I just noticed another review saying you must tip in cash but this is incorrect. You can pay a tip with credit card as they use Square. You have to tell them ahead of time what to add in for a tip. I got s gift certificate to this place for Christmas and finally tried it out this weekend. I was disappointed in the attention or lack there of to details. First of all the water during my pedicure was freezing until I said something. Same with the soaking water for the manicure. For my pedicure my toenails were cut unevenly leaving some jagged spots and some significantly longer/shorter then others. For my manicure I paid the extra $20 for gel polish and it was a waste. There were bubbles in the whites on the French manicure and the gel was done sloppily so it is already lifting. He got a lot of it on my skin which ruins the whole nail when it lifts up. Also when he clipped my cuticles he somehow gave me multiple hang nails everywhere. As a mom who rarely gets time to go do things for myself I'm sad I spent my time and money on this as it wasn't relaxing and it didn't come out very good. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is when I noticed one hair on my nails he did fix it. Unfortunately I didn't notice the others until I got home. But when I brought up the hair he then decided to skip the lotion and massage which is my favorite part of the manicure because they were closing soon. I doubt this polish will last two weeks with how poorly it was done and gel polish is supposed to last 2 at minimum I've had good manicures last 4! read more

I've been a customer of HOP NAILS for almost a year. The shop is clean, spacious and convenient. The gel manicures last between 2-3 weeks. They have great color choices and can match colors between gel and polish for coordinating toes and nails. The price is reasonable and with their loyalty program you get a free service after 8 paid. The staff is friendly and accommodating and I never feel rushed. When they're busy they let me know and I return later rather than waiting long periods of time. It's been awhile since I've gone to a nail salon in general. I was expecting and hoping for a relaxing time but didn't so much get that. I started off with a pedicure. I barely got a massage on my feet or legs, and the guy physically used his nails really hard going up and down my leg. I'm not sure what the cause was for that but it hurt and wasn't enjoyable. And my feet are still dry today, he didn't exfoliate the bottoms or anything. Then I go over for my manicure. Not only did he go really close to my cuticles, which has a blood scan today, but he worked so long on my actual each individual nail and my nails burned and hurt so bad. He also barely talked to me. My nails did come out beautiful, except for the scratches in my right thumb. It didn't photograph well but I tried to show it. In person you can see a ton of scratches. It just wasn't a very pleasant experience overall. read more

Unfortunately I had a less than stellar experience here the day before my wedding. I paid $100 for eyelash extensions and then by the next morning, half were missing so I had to have the makeup artist fill them in again. It took a long time to do originally and I was disappointed they fell off in under 24 hours. Also the manicurist suggested I get "fake"nails as my own were very short- I did that and those also began to fall off about 3 hours into my wedding. My pedicure has chipped and it's only been 4 days. My sister also has many cuts one her feet and nails from the mani pedi she got. I have been here before with no issues so I am pretty bummed this time was so bad especially since it was for my wedding. read more

Manicure filled with bubbles and looks awful, I had to ask the manicurist to clean under my nails. I'm really easygoing when I go to these places, because I usually mess up my nails in the first day, but this was beyond. What can I say I always come in hoping to love it and leave it feeling let down. I recently stopped in for a pedicure and the lady was doing a great job. I noticed she was talking a lot to the people around here but it didn't bother me at first. She was giving me a massage and I asked her to give me an extra long and I would pay. She began talking more and more and my massage suffered. I didn't say anything, one of the workers sat down and started eating an orange and gabbing away while she was giving me a lame massage. I decided to get gel on my toes because time was running out and I didn't want wait to dry. She seemed to be having some type of issue with the machine and switched at the end. When it was time to pay she took my card and ran it before asking if I wanted to tip. Charging me and taking money out of my account. For some reason my card wouldn't work so I handed her another card and she ran it adding in the price with the tip. They started soaking my nails and why I was waiting a gentleman came in and Lily told me she was going to help him and turned me over to someone else. I asked for acrylic nails with a gel polish. I was with a friend and we were talking so I wasn't paying that much attention...they were in a rush to get us out putting their coats on and turning off lights, when I got home I looked closer at my nails, I could see through them! I realized she only super glued the tips on and put a couple of coats of clear gel on before the polish. Five days later they have all popped off my fingers! Bye bye $50! read more

I have givin hop nails a try 3 times.. all the times they are sooo slow so if you don't have extra time i wouldn't waste yours.. also just recently i went in to get a dip nails.. legit 24 hours of getting out of the salon they break.. then i went in to get it fixed waited 45 minutes when i made an appointment. then legit the next day two more broke and by a less than a week i only had 4 nails left on.. I've never had nails break off.. and legit over half of them broke within a week i'm so disappointing now i'm left to pay 45$ at another salon to fix my nails.. read more

Friendly staff and super accommodating when we didn't have an appointment. The salon was clean and bright, and the pedicure chairs were in good shape. Equipment was hygienic and staff used new supplies for every client. Favorite part by far was the hot stone massage (which I wished was a bit longer) but the overall experience was positive. Not very happy after leaving this afternoon. I was nicked and bleeding on 3 different fingers from the drummel, and the woman rubbed nail polish remover on the cuts to wipe it away. Stung like crazy! Then half way into my acrylics being put on, she had me wash my hands and when I came back 30 seconds later she had begun with another client! I had to sit and wait for her to get half way done with that woman before she could finish mine. And not shortly after she begun, the woman screamed "ouch!" for she had done the same thing to her as she did to me. I asked for a very simple design and it was done poorly. She didn't wait for the design to dry before putting the clear coat on and it smudged the whole thing. I've never had a worse nail experience in my entire life. read more

I had a great pedi from a young woman. I walked over to the manicure side when she was done to be told "I don't have time for a manicure. Only a color change." And she wanted only two dollars less than the full man/pedi cost. Of course, if they couldn't do a mani/pedi and told me that when I called or when I arrived, I would have gone somewhere else because I had limited time and wanted a full mani/pedi.
