2nd trip here. First time was a packed house on a Friday night. This time was a Monday evening spontaneous decision. Both visits were very good. I had a build your own nachos the first time, and enchiladas Acapulco this time. As someone who lived in Texas for 15 years I found it very satisfying. Pleasantly surprised by this Acapulco. It was very clean and staff was friendly and prompt. The chips and salsa were way better than most places. I ordered the shredded chicken quesadilla (only $7.50 a La carte) and it was packed with meat and cheese! The small side of guacamole was also a great size. It used to be really good. However, about 6 months ago it started going downhill the quality just wasn't very good. I decided to give some of the other wonderful Mexican places around here a try and hadn't gone back to Acapulco until today. I happen to be out near there and needed a quick lunch. Unfortunately not only has the flavor not improved, but my enchiladas were extremely dry, had no sauce on top of them whatsoever and the portioning of the rice and beans was abysmal. This might have been my third time here. It was above average the times before, but not yesterday. Two of us had monty's revenge afterward (sorry culture language police) and we have guts of iron! The food tasted very average on this trip. The fish tacos were just a hash of wet fish that dissolved the soft taco. It all fell out when we picked up the taco. Fish tacos should always be deep fried. I didn't even look at the menu to see how they were described. Did it say "wet fish hash"? Who ever is running this needs to check on the kitchen. We are on a road trip from San Diego and are traveling for a few days in Michigan. We've been craving some good Mexican food just like we get at home. We had dinner at Acapulco tonight and it was very good. We both got the beef taco and pork tamale. The tamale came with shredded pork on the inside and a combination of ground beef and beans in a red sauce on top. It was delicious and sooooo filling. Okay so this place took me by surprise! We were hungry we saw a Mexican restaurant in a strip mall and thought what the heck let's give it a try. Well if I am in this area and what Mexican this will be my go-to place. The food was good, the drinks were strong, and the staff was friendly. Looks are very deceiving from the outside to the inside. I truly expected a diner with a Mexican theme but this is a full-blown Mexican restaurant. We have been going to this restaurant since they came to the west side of town. Tonight we had the worst experience. The server was condescending and the manager was worse. I am so disappointed. This was part of our weekly rotation. Whenever friends and family come to town this WAS the place we would take them. I have never felt so disrespected. Acapulco Mexican Grill is the name now. Same address & phone number as Cancun, Changes submitted by on the Yelp site. Just new management and fantastic dishes served up. Better than good, i.e. GREAT Mexican that has consistently been right on target. Awesome salsas, fajitas, enchiladas and burritos. Perhaps not a big deal for some, but the often overlooked refried beans at other places are stellar here. Very rich in taste and definitely not boring. read more

Wow! Excellent experience and food. Not from this side of town and my coworker and I were searching for some good Mexican and we found it here. Colorful and clean decor. Friendly staff and delicious food. Once you are seated, you are greeted with warm chips and fresh salsa. Went with a regular frozen margarita and I was happy with the size. My coworker got a jumbo (rough day) and she was equally happy with her drink. Menu is vast and tons of options - menu is a couple pages long. Good selection of combos and all for under $11.00. Great deal and great portion size. I asked for a side of sour cream and the portion was huge - cost was $1.99, geesh! My only complaint. I went with combo 11 which included an enchilada, taco, and rice/beans. Everything was delicious and served hot. My combo was not swimming in sauce and the ground beef was perfect. My coworker went with a quesadilla and nachos. She was happy but did note how there was too much lettuce on the nachos. More like a salad with nachos on top. I am so sick of Lansing trying to do Mexican food and failing and this is another one of those spots. Warmed tortillas from the grocery store but wrapped in foil is the most white people love tacos thing you can ever do. All the ingredients are very basic. Lack heat and flavor. I asked for the chicken quesadilla meal and got a $6 quesadilla appetizer , I was already so over it to say anything else . I had ordered a cocktail and the cup they brought it in had dish soap from an improper wash and when I asked for a new one I was looked at as crazy . The new one wasn't any better but at least no soap. They are sloppy and the place / seating is small and cramped . This place is AMAZING!! I have been to a lot of Mexican grills but this place is different. The Tamales are perfect. The way they cook the rice and charizo are just chefs kiss. If you want to eat some great food I highly recommend checking this spot out. I travel to Lansing regularly for work and Cancun is one of my go to places. Tonight, for example,I had fish tacos. They are simple, delicious and unlike any other I have had. When we got there they had to take our order again so we had to wait again, which isn't too big of a deal, but from the start the hostess made us feel like we were an inconvenience. Got over that as well, but when we finally got our food it was all bad. My sister and I ordered nachos and our friend ordered the tamales dinner. Our nachos were made incorrectly, and the entire top layer of chips were completely soggy, like they had been sitting (we came back to the restaurant before it was finished). Our friend described the tamales as tasting like they were made yesterday, and the rice and beans were soggy somehow. All of the food was cold and we live less than 5 minutes away, right by Horrocks. Only problem I had here was the language barrier between my waiter and I. It was a little slow but, no problem, I'm pretty patient. Plus they have free nachos and salsa to hold you over in the meantime. They weren't nothing to be crazy about but it was enough to snack on. When our food arrived, I was taken aback by how much we were served for the price, I definitely left full. my boyfriend called for a pickup order (i was right next to him while he was ordering it so i heard everything) he asked for 6 birria tacos, and 3 beef and cheese tacos, no rice and beans or sauce just 9 tacos total. i went to go pick it up and the lady only gave us 6 tacos 3 beef and cheese and 3 birria but the birria was a meal which we did not ask for. cost almost $50!! i asked for another 3 tacos no meal just the tacos she comes back with another meal and it's $38 i was like are you kidding me? the place has awful customer service, the one in frandor is way better. the lady did not even care or even say sorry. would give 0 stars if i could. never going back read more

The decor is exactly what you expect out of a mexican grill in a Lansing strip mall. Glad I don't go to the weight loss place next door, I'd be at this restaurant all the time... Great prices, full bar (I think), chips and salsa upon entry. Salsa is a good heat/flavor. I got a burrito, rice (I'd skip it next time) and a taco. All were good.
