The staff who were there today, Megan and Haley, are very professional and courteous. I never have to wait more than 10 min in the waiting room. Dr. Hakimzadeh is professional, kind, knowledgeable and the most important thing is that she LISTENS. She lets you speak and she has great skill. She is thorough and has a great bedside manner, which is very important to me. All the way around it is always a good experience with the Dr. and her staff. The place…read moreI used to go to (Normandy Optical) has really gone downhill the past few visits, so I decided to take my business elsewhere. I found this through the insurance that I currently have and would receive a free exam through them. They do sell frames here, but I'm going to get them somewhere else for a few different reasons. I called ahead to make sure they would work with my current insurance and they were able to find me in the system. I booked an appointment and was able to be seen within a few days of my phone call. Anyway, I walked in and the staff at the desk here was super friendly and helpful. I informed them of what I was there for and they checked me in and answered all my questions. Ok, so here's where I docked a star. If your running a doctors office, and you accept insurance, please don't ask me what I have covered "in my plan." I know there's lots of different insurance companies with different forms of coverage, but it's vision, and usually the coverage's fairly standard across the board regardless of who's paying (the insurance company, not the person.) I spent the time to educate myself on what I get through this specific coverage, so I knew what I was walking into. Free eye exam, 20% discount on progressive bifocals, etc. Even though I absolutely love the staff here, nobody seemed to know about coverage. Fortunately, I did. So, even though I had considered purchasing frames and the lenses from this specific location, it wasn't financially feasible for me at this time. The doctor here is fabulous, very professional and efficient. I was in and out in no time and have a prescription to get new glasses so I can see again. I would come back here in a heartbeat as this office is well run, efficient and the staff here is really one of a kind. Dr. Weingarden really knows his stuff and wasted no time and did a fabulous job. I can't brag enough about how wonderful and helpful the staff is, and I will gladly return in the future. When I couldn't read the chart except for the middle letter, I was told "As long as you can read one letter you have 20/20 vision." I explained I can't see the keyboard on my pc and have to squint to read street signs. The doctor escorted me out. I was very polite so this is puzzling. A TRUE NIGHTMARE! NEVER FORGET!!…read more I've had my eyes examined since 1983 and never experienced such unprofessional treatment with no result. Don't succumb to the radio advertisements. Better experience at VisionWorks and SVS. 1. I was told to arrive 15 minutes early to complete paperwork. I arrived and entry door was LOCKED and nobody in office. At 9am, my appointment time, the entry door was still LOCKED and I had to CALL the office to get the entry door unlocked. I was told they weren't expecting me. This was the first RED flag. 2. After completing paperwork, I was taken to the doctor's office for eye examination. The technician was extremely RUDE with onboarding my information. She was VERY confused why I couldn't read the eye chart after inserting my own mono-vision contacts. She became more upset and I almost left the appointment. 3. I finally met the eye doctor and was told I could try multi focal contacts. I paid $80 for contact fitting with trials. He has to order trial contacts and to make an appointment for two weeks out. 4. I received a phone call reminder to come in to fit contacts. So I arrive and the same technician asks me about my new contact use. I had to say I was there to pick them up. She left the room and the doctor came in and mentioned contacts were still being shipped. He informed me to call office in one week. 5. I call back in one week and now the contacts are backordered and doctor not returning for another week. I was told the person who procures contacts would call me back after doctor follow up. No return call so I call and ask the status and I was told the contacts are no longer available. Plus Yaldo is NO longer able to assist in obtaining ANY trial contacts. I was offered the SAME script for the SAME mono-vision contacts that I had before eye examination. So NOTHING has changed. Also, it took over two weeks to receive script by USPS. 5. Yaldo is NOT interested in promoting glasses or contacts at the Rochester Hills location. I believe this location is just a follow up to eye surgery done at their main office. Customer service is NOT in their vocabulary. Please go elsewhere for your vision needs.

They have multiple locations throughout the area including Lake Orion. They have late nights on Tuesdays until 7 PM but aren't open on the weekends. Facility is tucked away right off Walton and has a decent parking lot with lots of handicap parking spots up front. I was able to make an appoint with ease but they were super busy at the Rochester location. Walking in the place is quite large with ample seating and a coffee area. The frame shop is in the front to pick out new glasses and holds decent hours. I checked in at the desk and was taken back on time for my appointment. I did have to fill out paperwork which I hated doing. I had two separate technicians for the first part of my exam and then met with the doctor for the final part which wasn't to terribly long. Appointment ran an hour and I was in and out in no time. I only gave four stars because I was told when I checked in I would be given sunglasses after having my eyes dilated and was never given them on my way out. Fortunately my mom was driving me so I didn't have to worry about that part but was kind of bummed. Also the frame shop is nice but limited selection and kind of expensive. If you have VSP insurance, get your prescription and go to SVS Vision or Visionworks for your frames and lenses.

The staff is very polite, friendly and responsive. There have been times when a contact has gotten stuck in my upper eye and I have been able to walk in and have it removed (not fun) immediately. I am extremely comfortable with my opthamological care at the Rochester Michigan Eye Institute.
