As a patient for years, I can confidently say Weisman is committed to the care of their patients and it is so refreshing! The staff is welcoming and friendly which really sets their staff apart from many places. I see Dr.Lorne and am always impressed with the level of attention and care he gives. Aside from being genuinely so nice and a pleasure to talk to, he always explains everything in detail so I feel educated on my prescription and overall eye health. He goes over the photo scans and explains what he looks for and it puts me so at ease knowing that he is paying attention and looking for those details. Who wants to go to a fancy eye doctor when the cheapo place is right down the street? WRONG. Weisman is a fancy eye doctor, but has deals like you wouldn't believe. The glass frame selection is fantastic. Frames from really cheap to really fancy, but all very stylish. The staff here is kind and works with you on your insurance to get the best deals possible. If you don't have insurance, or it doesn't cover a service, they have a deal to help you financially. I spend at least $100 less here a visit than I ever did at a cheap eyeglass place. The best part about Weisman is the back of the eye photo machine (yes there is a fancy name for this). Instead of getting your eyes dilated, you can pay $18 to get a photograph instead. They are not doing what they should do. I cannot pick up my glasses right now. I ordered 2 new glass more than a month ago. My insurance company increased the allowance but it doesn't show up in the system properly yet. I contacted my HR/insurance company and they gave me specific contact info so provider can verify it. I gave it to a man work here and he denied to call at the first time.(Insurance company told me I don't need to contact. just I need to provide insurance company name. provider will verify on line or dedicated line). I told about the situation insurance company and they told me provider should verify to claim so they don't understand why they don't call. The guy said he would call and promised to call me back but he didn't. I call them today to check if they were able to confirm. They asked same question again. I explained situation again and asked if there's any update. But they told me the system show same allowance(I know!!!!). Told they are not going to call to the contact information.(It's not helpdesk but direct contact!!!) Insurance company doesn't provide ID card recently and requires provider verifies via online or dedicated line. How you guys keep the business running without contacting insurance company and saying everything is customer responsibility??? read more

I walked in kindly got greeted. Met with the lady at the counter waited little to no time. she was super helpful made filling out the few questions they had a breeze. Sat down waited for someone to do a exam didn't wait more then 5 min she was super kind and patient with me. Then see the Dr. Right after he was very knowledgeable, made sure I understood everything he was very easy Dr to talk to. Then picking up my glasses the part I was dreading will they made the best part my day the lady helped me out I looked through so many different kind and her patients and honesty made it fun. They all pitched in there advise as I asked for it. I overall never had a better more comfortable fun professional experience at any Drs office they are top notch. Best part is the pricing was so competitive. All honesty I came in on a budget and I wouldn't have mind if I paid a bit more for that type experience. read more

My optometrist and technician were wonderful. They were friendly, helpful, and fast. I would fully recommend everyone I met there except for the secretary. She was a nightmare. She was extremely condescending and insulting to me because I asked if I could have a copy of the price list from my insurance company. You wouldn't believe the way she talked to me if I wrote it all out. It then turned out she had the wrong insurance company because she had just assumed based on my health insurance. She was rude to me again on my way out as well. I will never understand how some people can treat complete strangers that way. When I needed to call them later, my mother offered to do it for me because she knew I had a bad experience with the secretary. The secretary had the nerve to say, "She's 25 years old. Why doesn't she call me herself?" Because you're a bully. That's why. read more

I have been a patient of Weisman for probably close to 20 years purchasing glasses and contacts yearly. I tried to make a contact appointment before going to Florida for a month and they couldn't see me till 3 days after I returned home. I was going to be a week short for my daily contacts and asked if they could give me 1 week of trials for which they have done before. I was told they could not do that because it was over a year. It's only a few weeks over a year and i tried to get an appointment but they could not accommodate me. I think this is terrible customer service for a 20 year patient. I don't usually write reviews, I read them instead but my last trip to this store took me by such surprise. I live in California and visit friends who live in the area all the time. I haven't been in to Weisman Optometrist in almost 5 years. I stopped by on a Saturday, the weekend before I flew back home. It was crowded as usual, it's an extremely trendy place with an excellent selection of sunglasses and accessories. For the first time in years I didn't recognize anyone but the lady behind the front desk. I used to work with Sharon. I asked for her by name and someone I don't know said that she didn't work there anymore. I was disappointed but I kept browsing with my friends. Downtown Rochester on a Saturday is always busy and hectic but I was surprised that I had a hard time finding someone to help me look at sunglasses. The lady behind the front desk, I think she's the receptionist, tried to flag someone down to help me but everyone was super busy. There was a blonde lady who was talking about her weekend plans or lunch plans or something and kept looking past me. When she took a breath and I thought she was going to acknowledge us she started talking about some wedding. We finally walked out to shop elsewhere. I gave 4 stars because they do have the best selection of high end frames anywhere in Michigan but the level of customer service has totally dropped. There used to be well dressed sales people wearing glasses that made me want to buy something from them so I can look as polished. Now the people that work there either look like they are going out for a night at a club or they just rolled out of bed five minutes before they are supposed to be at work. The only person who bothered to acknowledge me I remember from my last visit. She was also the only person wearing something that wasn't too big, too small or too loose. For some reason she sits facing a wall now. While I was waiting to be helped I overheard sales people's lunch cravings, night plans, problems with their families and everything but selling glasses. I don't like to throw around 5 stars to just anybody but I truly want to make sure that Weisman Optometrist gets the recognition that they deserve for their customer service. My first visit was for my annual eye exam which went great - a little behind schedule but they made sure I knew that they hadn't forgotten me. Followup a week after to make sure my contact prescription was working for me at no charge. I was able to purchase a year's worth of contacts and have them mailed to me at my home which was convenient. Somehow, after getting the contacts - the entire year's supply was accidentally thrown away. It wasn't something that I was thrilled about having to re-purchase as contacts are not cheap - but Abby and the staff at Weisman Optometrist were amazing and worked with me so that I didn't have to buy another year's supply. I can't remember the last time that any company, much less a doctor's office was so willing to help out a patient like this. I recommend this office to anyone both for their reasonable price and great customer service! read more

Though I'm suppose to wear glasses, I haven't in years. What kept me from getting a new pair, other than laziness, is the fact I hate picking them out. I wouldn't like anything I put on my face. So I knew I'd end up picking out a frame I wasn't happy with and go back to never wearing them. When objects had lost actual definition I finally scheduled my appointment. The entire staff was great, they knew I was in a hurry and worked quick to get me checked in, through the exam and picking out glasses in no time. Adam, who worked at Weisman Optometrist, was great at finding me a new pair of glasses. I appreciated he was honest and let me know what frames didn't look good on me. He was even scouting for a pair while I was getting my exam, so I had a line up waiting for me when I came out. If you need multifocal contact lenses, this is the place to go. Seriously. Multifocal contacts are a completely different animal to work with than regular lenses and you want to go to someone who is familiar with the latest lenses out there because the technology keeps improving. I've been to other places and could never find a lens that I was happy with. It was a constant cycle of ordering a lens, waiting a week for it to come in to try it, and finding out that it wasn't quite right. It had been months of trying and I was very frustrated. Weisman's is completely different. I walked in, we tried 7 different lens combinations, all of which they had right there. It was pop in the lenses, do the "better, or worse, better, or worse" eye chart routine and within an hour I had fantastic lenses that seem to be really doing the trick. Now, if I find those lenses aren't quite right or my prescription changes, I just go back (for free an entire year) and we start all over again. And they buy back my unused lenses. Heck, they even take back torn lenses and swap them out for good ones. I can't say enough good things about Weisman's. My eyes are working like eyes should. read more

If you want frames, by all means, try Weisman. Their customer service for helping select good looking eyewear is great. But, if you need an eye exam think twice. As in it took two eye exams for them to get me a proper script. Two different optometrists examined me and came up with two widely different numbers. i wish I could remember the name of the 2nd guy who did a good thorough exam and came up with a script I could read with. But, however again, either Weisman changed the lab they send out to, or that lab has gone way downhill. I got a pair of premium progressives in 2015 and they were fine. I've been wearing Premiums, including Varilux w/ Crizal lenses for over 10 years. In 2017 they failed to produce even one pair of acceptable glasses in three attempts. All three had horrible ghosting (double, triple, quadruple overlapping images) so severe I could not use them to drive at night. To Weisman's credit they did give me a full refund, but it wasn't quite hassle-free. I did not think twice about going to Weisman for my next new pair of glasses. But after 2 months, 3 pairs, and staff that apparently doesn't really know optics and what might cause the problem I was having with their lenses, I'm sure that I will never return. read more

First of all their Saturday hours are beyond accomatating for anyone that works during the week. I recently got new eye insurance thru my husband and so I got to pick a new doctor. I am so happy I picked here. They are so nice and helpful when it comes to picking new glasses and you never feel pressure to upgrade to lenses if you don't want to. I personally upgraded a few times, even opting for the photo of the back of my eye to avoid those icky drops. The glasses themselves are all AMAZING! I got a pair of Ray-Bans that are so cute. The staffmemeber I had was honest about what looked good and what didn't. The prices are extremely reasonanable for such high quality. I know a lot is determined by your insurance coverage (if you have any) but my entire visit, which included the contact lense exam, trial pair of contacts, eye glasses, and eye exam was $287.00. They give you options to pay half and half, which would be nice for someone who needed that. Oh and I got a handwritten postcard from the doctor checking up on things. How nice! I have worn glasses for over 40 years and have a very severe prescription. I recently used Weisman for the first time and I can see better than I have in years. I had my eyes tested by a different doctor and brought my script to Weisman to fill. We didn't know it at the time but the script from the other doctor was incorrect. The staff at Weisman went above and beyond to figure out the problem and make sure that I could see properly. I can now read the fine print on anything and driving at night is a pleasure! The staff also helped me find a great frame that works for my complicated script and looks great. I am now a Weisman customer for life. read more

Awesome staff. I was out of contacts so they ordered me a spare pare at no charge before upcoming appointment. I received an automated text when my contacts were ready. They emailed my appointment reminder and I was able to confirm it with one click. I love that they are so technology-oriented; it makes everything faster and easier. For my actual visit there was no wait, I just signed a few forms and was immediately called back for my appointment. The doctor was great and referred me to a specialist which he had his receptionist book for me to make sure I could get an appointment asap. I would definitely recommend them. read more

Do not take children especially young girls! My daughter picked out several options of glasses she liked that fit her personality. She was excited to put the glasses on to show the technician but the technician told my daughter "oh no that does not look good on you". She pointed out that another pair looked like old granny glasses. I of course told my daughter her choices were all cute and she looks great in all of them. The one pair of glasses the technician did say would be ok for her were of course the most expensive and were not student or insurance covered. We left and will never go back again. Glasses are a big part of a child's identity it is not ok to ever tell a young girl that she doesn't look good especially when she picked it out herself. read more
