The place…read moreI used to go to (Normandy Optical) has really gone downhill the past few visits, so I decided to take my business elsewhere. I found this through the insurance that I currently have and would receive a free exam through them. They do sell frames here, but I'm going to get them somewhere else for a few different reasons. I called ahead to make sure they would work with my current insurance and they were able to find me in the system. I booked an appointment and was able to be seen within a few days of my phone call. Anyway, I walked in and the staff at the desk here was super friendly and helpful. I informed them of what I was there for and they checked me in and answered all my questions. Ok, so here's where I docked a star. If your running a doctors office, and you accept insurance, please don't ask me what I have covered "in my plan." I know there's lots of different insurance companies with different forms of coverage, but it's vision, and usually the coverage's fairly standard across the board regardless of who's paying (the insurance company, not the person.) I spent the time to educate myself on what I get through this specific coverage, so I knew what I was walking into. Free eye exam, 20% discount on progressive bifocals, etc. Even though I absolutely love the staff here, nobody seemed to know about coverage. Fortunately, I did. So, even though I had considered purchasing frames and the lenses from this specific location, it wasn't financially feasible for me at this time. The doctor here is fabulous, very professional and efficient. I was in and out in no time and have a prescription to get new glasses so I can see again. I would come back here in a heartbeat as this office is well run, efficient and the staff here is really one of a kind. Dr. Weingarden really knows his stuff and wasted no time and did a fabulous job. I can't brag enough about how wonderful and helpful the staff is, and I will gladly return in the future. My eyesight was compromised and I needed experienced individuals for my after surgery care. Naturally, I was extremely cautious in trusting my sight with, yet, another stranger. I was originally slated to see Dr. Simone. An emergency arouse and I had the option of rescheduling for a later date or seeing Dr. Varanelli at roughly the same time and date. Fate is a strange thing. Now, I won't see any other eye guy. The minute I met the doctor I became at ease. He has an incredible way about him. Very calming and polite. A funny man that's the utmost professional. I learned about different tests he performs. He has the ability to provide insight to my overall health by looking in the back of my eyes (I believe there's a small pun in that last sentence). The staff there is very accommodating and efficient. I worked with Emily today and it was good times. I can't tell you whether or not she is great at her job or using that high-tech Star Trek looking stuff the right way. But I passed all my tests with flying colours so I guess she's wonderful. I would never recommend…read moreanyone to get service here, because of the hassle you'll have to go through just to get a hold of them. I tried to get a pair of sunglasses through them, and after my first phone call where an employee named Debbie told me how I should pick out the glasses online, I couldn't get a hold of them for two weeks. When they finally answered a call, I spoke to Debbie again and told her what pair I wanted. She said she'd order them and then send them to me when they got to the office. Almost two more weeks later, I tried calling again because I hadn't received the sunglasses yet. For a few days in a row, I kept trying to get a hold of them, but they never once answered or responded to any voicemails I left. Then I find out that Debbie was purposefully screening my calls. After calling a couple times one day, I immediately called back on a different phone number/area code, and Debbie answers right away. She was audibly disappointed that it was me calling, which is honestly very hurtful. I don't want to feel like a hassle when I'm giving someone my business and so much of my time. She told me that she never listened to my voicemail and never ordered the glasses, so I had to stay on the phone with her for a while giving her my info again while she ordered them finally. Again, I've never encountered such an unprofessional situation before, and I hate to judge the whole business based on Debbie, but she was the only one who answers calls I guess. I feel like screening calls and dodging a customer is termination-worthy. I just hope to never have to deal with Debbie again, so I will not be coming here for anything else.

Dr. Dixon and Jodie fitted me for an awesome pair of Dolce and Gabanna glasses -- I'm picking them up next week! I highly recommend L'Optique for their professionalism, friendliness and overall expertise. Dr. Dixon will take great care of your eyes! Oh, and bonus: Dr. Dixon has a high-tech camera that takes photos of your eyes so you don't have to get your eyes dilated for a small extra fee. That alone is worth the appointment!

1st, let me say I have been a patient here for about 15 years. Dr. Vanderhoof is excellent and…read morecompassionate. My cataract surgery is the reason for the 2 stars. On April 1, 2025, I was told my cataracts were "ripe" enough to do surgery. I was put on the waiting list. 3 months later, I had my first surgery. Before that I met with the surgeon and the "insurance expert", Fran. During a one-on-one meeting with this so-called expert, I made it quite clear I did not want my eye drops prescription called in to Walgreens. She assured me she would call it in to Henry Ford Pharmacy, my preferred pharmacy. She called it in to Walgreens! After 4 phone calls, I straightened that mess out. After the above, I spoke to the office manager, Kathy, about Fran's actions. She assured me that Fran would be "written up". While on the phone with Kathy, I inquired why I had to pay the $35 refraction fee before they would do my surgery. Her response, "that's our procedure". BTW, that refraction didn't occur until August 21, 7 weeks later. But, of course they processed my payment immediately. After the 2nd eye operation, I did a follow-up appointment to see how the procedure went. I had some swelling, so Dr. Vanderhoff suggested I return in 2 weeks for another evaluation. When I got to the front desk, I was told there was nothing in 2 weeks, so they set it at 3 weeks. A week later, they called me and said they had to push my appointment out another week, or a month after my surgery. I ordered my glasses through Costco and finally picked the up today. My entire summer was blind-sighted (forgive the pun). Why can't a cataract patient be given a schedule of appointments so that the final outcome can happen in a reasonable timeline? There seems to be a disconnect between the professional staff and the people at the front desk. Why does a patient who knowingly has numerous appointments have to use the card reader to check-in every time. "The system" has all your insurance information and your driver's license stored. I will be seeking additional vision care at a different facility.

The office itself is stunning--modern and aesthetically pleasing, providing a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere from the moment you step in. While the wait time was slightly longer it was well worth it because I saw 2 doctors that day. The thoroughness of the staff is evident in their detailed explanations of all available options and alternatives for LASIK surgery. Each step was clearly outlined. What truly stood out was the meeting with the counselor. They went above and beyond to explain the cost aspects of the procedure with complete transparency. just one straightforward price. This level of honesty and clarity was refreshing and greatly appreciated especially in medicine.
